   For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:

   But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

   כִּיkiforמוּסָרֵנוּmu/sa/re/NUour exhortationלֹאlowas notמִתַּרְמִיתmit/tar/MITfrom deceitוְלֹאve/LOand notמִטֻּמְאָהmit/tum/Afrom uncleannessוְלֹאve/LOand notבִרְמִיָּה׃vir/miy/YAin deceit

   For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:

   כִּיkibutכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasנִבְחַנּוּniv/chan/NUwe were testedמֵאֵתme/ETofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלְהַפְקִידle/haf/KIDto entrustבְּיָדֵנוּbe/ya/DE/nuinto our handאֶת־הַבְּשׂוֹרָהet-hab/be/so/RAthe gospelכֵּןkensoנְדַבֵּרne/dab/BERwe speakלֹאlonotכִּמְבַקְשִׁיםkim/vak/SHIMas those seekingלִמְצֹא־חֵןlim/TSO-chento find favorבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofבְנֵי־אָדָםve/NE-a/DAMmenכִּיkibutאִם־בְּעֵינֵיim-be/e/NErather in the eyes ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodהַבֹּחֵןhab/bo/CHENwho testsלִבּוֹתֵינוּ׃lib/bo/te/NUour hearts

   But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

   כִּיkiforמֵעוֹלָםme/o/LAMeverלֹאlonotדִבַּרְנוּdib/BAR/nudid we speakבִּשְׂפַתbis/FATwith a lip ofחֲלָקוֹתcha/la/KOTsmooth thingsכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיְדַעְתֶּםye/da/TEMyou knowוְלֹאve/LOand notבִמְעִילvim/ILwith a cloak ofבֶּצַעBE/tsaunjust gainהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodעֵד׃edis witness

   For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloak of covetousness; God is witness:

   וְלֹאve/LOnorבִקַּשְׁנוּvik/kash/NUwe soughtכָבוֹדkha/VODgloryמִבְּנֵי־אָדָםmib/be/NE-a/DAMfrom the sons of menלֹאlonotמִכֶּםmik/KEMfrom youוְלֹאve/LOand notמֵאֲחֵרִיםme/a/che/RIMfrom othersגַּםgamalsoכִּיkithoughיָכֹלְנוּya/khol/NUwe couldלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTbeלְמַשָּׂאle/mas/SAa burdenכִּשְׁלִיחֵיkish/li/CHEas apostles ofהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

   Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.

   אֲבָלa/VALbutרַכִּיםrak/KIMgentleהָיִינוּha/YI/nuwe wereבְּתוֹכֲכֶםbe/to/kha/KHEMamong youכְּאֹמֶנֶתke/o/ME/netas a nurseמְפַנֶּקֶתme/fan/NE/ketcherishesאֶת־בָּנֶיהָ׃et-ba/NE/haher children

   But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

   כֵּןkensoנִכְסָפִיםnikh/sa/FIMlongingלָכֶםla/KHEMof youחָפַצְנוּcha/fats/NUwe desiredלָתֵתla/TETto giveלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלֹאlonotאֶת־בְּשׂוֹרַתet-be/so/RATthe gospel ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלְבַדle/VADonlyכִּיkibutאִם־גַּםim-gamrather alsoאֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵינוּet-naf/sho/TE/nuour soulsכִּיkibecauseיְקַרְתֶּםye/kar/TEMyou are more preciousבְּעֵינֵינוּ׃be/e/NE/nuin our eyes

   So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

   כִּיkiforזְכַרְתֶּםze/khar/TEMyou rememberאַחַיa/CHAYmy brothersאֶת־עֲמָלֵנוּet-a/ma/LE/nuour laborוְאֶת־תְּלָאָתֵנוּve/ET-te/la/a/te/NUand our hardshipכִּיkiforעָמַלְנוּa/mal/NUlaboringלַיְלָהLAY/lanightוְיוֹמָםve/yo/MAMand dayלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIso as notהַכְבִּידhakh/BIDburdenעַל־אִישׁal-ishon any manמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youהִגַּדְנוּhig/gad/NUwe proclaimedלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֶת־בְּשׂוֹרַתet-be/so/RATthe gospel ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

   For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

    אַתֶּםat/TEMare youעֵדִיםe/DIMwitnessesוְגַםve/GAMand alsoהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֵיךְekhhowבְּקֹדֶשׁbe/KO/deshin holinessוּבְצֶדֶקu/ve/TSE/dekand in righteousnessוּבְתָמִיםu/ve/ta/MIMand blamelesslyהִתְהַלַּכְנוּhit/hal/LAKH/nuwe walkedבָּכֶםba/KHEMamong youהַמַּאֲמִינִים׃ham/ma/a/mi/NIMwho believe

    Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

    כַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיְדַעְתֶּםye/da/TEMknowאֵיךְekhhowהִזְהַרְנוּhiz/har/NUwe urgedוְנִחַמְנוּve/ni/cham/NUand comfortedוַנָּעַדvan/na/ADand we testifiedבְּכׇל־אֶחָדbe/KHOL-e/CHADeach oneמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youכְּאָבke/AVas a fatherאֶת־בָּנָיו׃et-ba/NAYVhis children

    As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,

12. 12

    לְהִתְהַלֵּךְle/hit/hal/LEKHto walkכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיָאֲתָהya/a/TAbefitsלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMof Godהַקֹּרֵאhak/ko/REwho callsאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouלְמַלְכוּתוֹle/mal/khu/TOto His kingdomוְלִכְבוֹדוֹ׃ve/likh/vo/DOand His glory

    That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

13. 13

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeגַּם־אֲנַחְנוּgam-a/NACH/nualso weלֹאlonotנֶחְדַּלnech/DALceaseלְהוֹדֹתle/ho/DOTto give thanksלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto Godכִּיkithatבְּקַחְתְּכֶםbe/kach/te/KHEMwhen you receivedאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatשְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou heardמֵאִתָּנוּme/it/TA/nufrom usלֹאlonotלְקַחְתֶּםle/kach/TEMyou receivedאֹתוֹo/TOitכִּדְבַרkid/VARas the word ofבְּנֵי־אָדָםbe/NE-a/DAMthe sons of menכִּיkibutאִם־כַּאֲשֶׁרim-ka/a/SHERrather asהוּאhuit isבֶאֱמֶתve/e/METin truthדְּבַרde/VARthe word ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichגַּםgamalsoפֹּעֵלpo/ELworksבָּכֶםba/KHEMin youהַמַּאֲמִינִים׃ham/ma/a/mi/NIMwho believe

    For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

    כִּיkiforאַתֶּםat/TEMyouאַחַיa/CHAYmy brothersהֱיִיתֶםhe/yi/TEMbecameהֹלְכִיםhol/KHIMwalkingבְּעִקְּבוֹתbe/ik/ke/VOTin the footsteps ofקְהִלּוֹתke/hil/LOTthe churches ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבִּיהוּדָהbI/hu/DAin Judaeaבַּמָּשִׁיחַbam/Ma/SHI/achin the MessiahיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusכִּיkiforגַּם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMyou alsoסְבַלְתֶּםse/val/TEMyou sufferedכָּאֵלֶּהka/EL/lelike theseמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofבְּנֵי־עַמְּכֶםbe/NE-am/me/KHEMyour own peopleכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasגַּם־הֵםgam-hemthey alsoמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofהַיְּהוּדִים׃hay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jews

    For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judæa are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:

15. 15

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאַף־הָרְגוּaf-ha/re/GUalso killedאֶת־הָאָדוֹןet-ha/a/DONthe LordיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוְאֶת־נְבִיאֵיהֶםve/ET-ne/vi/e/HEMand their prophetsוְאוֹתָנוּve/o/TA/nuand usרָדְפוּra/de/FUthey persecutedוְאֵינָםve/e/NAMand they are notטוֹבִיםto/VIMgoodבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוּמִתְקוֹמֲמִיםu/mit/ko/ma/MIMand they opposeלְכׇל־אָדָם׃le/KHOL-a/DAMto all men

    Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:

16. 16

    הַכֹּלְאִיםhak/kol/IMwho hinderאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusמִדַּבֵּרmid/dab/BERfrom speakingאֶל־הַגּוֹיִםel-Hag/go/YIMto the Gentilesלְמַעַןle/MA/ansoיִוָּשֵׁעוּyiv/va/she/Uthey may be savedלְמַלֹּאתle/mal/LOTto fulfillאֶת־חַטֹּאתֵיהֶםet-chat/to/te/HEMtheir sinsתָּמִידta/MIDalwaysכִּיkiforהִשִּׂיגָםhis/si/GAMhas overtaken themהֶחָרוֹןhe/cha/RONthe wrathעַד־כַּלֵּה׃ad-kal/LEto the end

    Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

17. 17

    וַאֲנַחְנוּva/a/NACH/nuand weאַחַיa/CHAYmy brothersבְּהִלָּקְחֵנוּbe/hil/la/ke/che/NUin our being takenמִכֶּםmik/KEMfrom youלִזְמַןliz/MANfor a timeמְעַטme/ATshortבַּפָּנִיםbap/pa/NIMin faceוְלֹאve/LOand notבַלֵּבval/LEVin heartבִּקַּשְׁנוּbik/kash/NUwe soughtעוֹדodmoreיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeפְּנֵיכֶםpe/ne/KHEMyour faceבִּתְשׁוּקָהbit/shu/KAwith longingרַבָּה׃rab/BAgreat

    But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

18. 18

    וְעַל־כֵּןve/AL-kenand thereforeחָפַצְנוּcha/fats/NUwe wantedלָבוֹאla/VOto comeאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youאֲנִיa/NIIפוֹלוֹסFo/LOSPaulפַּעַםPA/amonceוּשְׁתָּיִםush/TA/yimand twiceוְהַשָּׂטָןve/has/Sa/TANand Satanעֲצָרָנוּ׃a/tsa/ra/NUhindered us

    Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

19. 19

    כִּיkiforמַה־הִיאma-hiwhat isתִקְוָתֵנוּtik/va/TE/nuour hopeאוֹoorשִׂמְחָתֵנוּsim/cha/te/NUour joyאוֹoorעֲטֶרֶתa/TE/retthe crown ofתְּהִלָּתֵנוּte/hil/la/te/NUour boastהֲלֹאha/LOis it notגַם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMeven youלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֲדֹנֵינוּa/do/NE/nuour LordיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahבְּבוֹאוֹ׃be/vo/Oat his coming

    For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

20. 20

    כִּיkiforאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areכְּבוֹדֵנוּke/vo/de/NUour gloryוְשִׂמְחָתֵנוּ׃ve/sim/cha/te/NUand our joy

    For ye are our glory and joy.
