    כִּיbecauseאַתֶּםyou-areאַחַיmy-brothersיְדַעְתֶּםyou-knowאֶת־מְבוֹאֵנוּour-entranceאֲלֵיכֶםunto-youכִּיbecauseלֹא־הָיָהnot-wasלָרִיק׃in-vain

    For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:

    וְאַחֲרֵיand-afterאֲשֶׁרthatעֻנֵּינוּwe-had-sufferedוּלְחֶרְפָּהand-into-a reproachהָיִינוּwe-wereבְּפִילִפִּיin-Philippiכַּאֲשֶׁרasיְדַעְתֶּםyou-knowהִתְחַזַּקְנוּwe-were-boldבֵאלֹהֵינוּin-our-Godלְהַגִּידto-declareגַּם־לָכֶםalso-to-youאֶת־הַבְּשׂוֹרָהthe-good-tidingsבְּנַפְתּוּלִיםin-great-conflictרַבִּים׃many

    But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

    כִּיbecauseתוֹכַחְתֵּנוּour-exhortationאֵינֶנָּהis-notמִתּוֹךְofטָעוּתdeceitוְלֹאand-notמִתּוֹךְofטֻמְאָהuncleannessוְלֹאand-notבִּרְמִיָּה׃in-guile

    For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:

    כִּיbecauseכַּאֲשֶׁרasנִמְצֵאנוּwe-were-allowedנֶאֱמָנִיםfaithfulלֵאלֹהִיםto-Godלְהַפְקִידto-entrustבְּיָדֵנוּin-our-handהַבְּשׂוֹרָהthe-gospelכֵּןthusנְדַבֵּרso-we-speakוְלֹאand-notלִהְיוֹתto-beרְצוּיִםpleasingלִבְנֵיunto-the-children-ofאָדָםmanכִּיbutאִםratherלֵאלֹהִיםGodהַבֹּחֵןwhich-triethלִבּוֹתֵנוּ׃our-hearts

    But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

    כִּיbecauseמֵעוֹלָםneverלֹאnotדִבַּרְנוּwe-usedבִּשְׂפַתin-the-language-ofחֲלָקוֹתflattering-thingsכַּאֲשֶׁרasיְדַעְתֶּםyou-knowוְלֹאand-notלְמַעַןin-order-thatבְּצֹעַa-cloke-ofבֶּצַעcovetousnessבַּסָּתֶרin-secretעֵדis-witnessהָאֱלֹהִים׃the-God

    For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloak of covetousness; God is witness:

    גַּםalsoלֹא־בִקַּשְׁנוּnot-we-soughtמִן־הָאָדָםfrom-the-manכָּבוֹדgloryלֹאnotמִכֶּםfrom-youוְלֹאand-notמֵאֲחֵרִיםfrom-othersאַףyeaכִּיbecauseיָכֹלְנוּwe-might-have-beenלִהְיוֹתto-beבִּיקָרburdensomeכִּשְׁלִיחֵיas-apostles-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the-Messiah

    Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.

    אֶלָּאbut-ratherהָלַכְנוּwe-wereלְאַטgentleבְּתוֹכֲכֶםamong-youכְּאֹמֶנֶתas-a nurseמְפַנֶּקֶתcherishingאֶת־בָּנֶיהָ׃sons-her

    But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

    וּבְחַבְּבֵנוּbeing-affectionately-desirous-ofאֶתְכֶםyouכָּכָהthusחָפַצְנוּwe-were-willingלָתֵתto-giveלָכֶםto-youלֹאnotאֶת־בְּשׂוֹרַתgood-tidings-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godלְבַדaloneאֶלָּאbut-ratherאַףyeaנַפְשֹׁתֵינוּour-own-soulsיַעַןbecauseכִּי־הֱיִיתֶםbecause-you-wereחֲבִיבִיםbeloved-onesעָלֵינוּ׃over-us

    So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

    הֲלֹאdo-notתִזְכְּרוּyou-rememberאַחַיmy-brothersאֶת־עֲמָלֵנוּour-laborוְאֶת־תְּלָאָתֵנוּand-travailאֲשֶׁרwhichיָגַעְנוּlaboringלַיְלָהnightוְיוֹמָםand-by dayלְבִלְתִּיto-notהֱיוֹתhaveלְמַשָׂאchargeableלְאִישׁto-anyמִכֶּםof-youבְּבַשְׂרֵנוּwe-preachedבְקִרְבְּכֶםamong-youאֶת־בְּשׂוֹרַתgood-tidings-ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃the-God

    For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

    עֵדִיםwitnessesאַתֶּםyou-areוְעֵדand-witnessהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godאִם־לֹאhowבִקְדֻשָּׁהholilyוּבְצֶדֶקand-justlyוּבְתָמִיםand-unblameablyהָיִינוּwe-behavedעִמָּכֶםwith-youהַמַּאֲמִינִים׃the-believers

    Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

  11. 11

    וְאַתֶּםand-youיְדַעְתֶּםyou-knowכִּי־כְאָבbecause-like-a fatherאֶת־בָּנָיוhis-sonsהִזְהַרְנוּwe-exhortedאֶת־כׇּל־אֶחָדevery-oneמִכֶּםfrom-youוְדִבַּרְנוּand-we have spokenעַלuponלִבּוֹ׃his-heart

    As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,

    וַנָּעַדand-we-chargedבָּכֶםin-youלָלֶכֶתto-goכַּטּוֹבworthyלִפְנֵיbeforeהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godהַקּוֹרֵאwho-hath-calledאֶתְכֶםyouלְמַלְכוּתוֹto-his-kingdomוְלִכְבוֹדוֹ׃and-to-his-glory

    That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

    בַּעֲבוּרbecause-ofזֹאתthisאֲנַחְנוּweלֹאnotנֶחְדַּלwe-ceaseלְהוֹדֹתto-give-thanksלֵאלֹהִיםto-Godכִּיbecauseאַתֶּםyou-areקִבַּלְתֶּםreceivedמֵאִתָּנוּfrom-among-usדְּבַרthe-word-ofשְׁמוּעַתreport-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godוְלֹא־קִבַּלְתֶּםand-not-receivedאוֹתוֹhimכִּדְבַרaccording-to-the-word-ofבְּנֵי־אָדָםthe-children-of-menכִּיbecauseאִם־כְּמוֹ־שֶׁהוּאbut-as-it-isבֶאֱמֶתin-truthכִּדְבַרaccording-to-the-word-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godאֲשֶׁרwhichגַּם־פֹּעֵלalso-effectually-workethבָּכֶםin-youהַמַּאֲמִינִים׃the-believers

    For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

    כִּי־אַתֶּםbecause-you-areאַחַיmy-brothersהֲלַכְתֶּםbecame-followersבְּעִקְּבֵיofקְהִלּוֹתchurchesהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godאֲשֶׁר־בְּאֶרֶץthat-are-in-the-land-ofיְהוּדָהJudeaבַּמָּשִׁיחַin-the-MessiahיֵשׁוּעַJesusכִּיbecauseגַּם־אַתֶּםalso-youעֻנֵּיתֶםyou-have-sufferedעַל־יְדֵיby-means-ofבְנֵי־עַמְּכֶםyour-own-countrymenכַּאֲשֶׁרeven-asעֻנּוּthey-have-sufferedגַם־הֵםthey-alsoעַל־יְדֵיby-means-ofהַיְּהוּדִים׃the-Jews

    For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judæa are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:

    אֲשֶׁרwhoאַף־הָרְגוּwho-both-killedאֶת־הָאָדוֹןthe-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesusוְאֶת־נְבִיאֵיהֶםand-their-prophetsוְאוֹתָנוּand-usרָדָפוּpersecutedוְאֵינָםand-they-are-notטוֹבִיםgoodבְּעֵינֵיin-the-eyes-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodוּמִתְקוֹמֲמִיםand-are-contraryלְכׇל־אָדָם׃unto-all-men

    Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:

  16. 16

    הָעֹצְרִיםforbiddingאֹתָנוּusמִדַּבֵּרfrom-speakingאֶל־הַגּוֹיִםunto-the-nationsשֶׁיִּוָּשֵׁעוּthat-they-might-be-savedלְמַעַןin-order-thatאֲשֶׁר־יְמַלְאוּthat-they-fill-upאֶת־חַטֹּאתֵיהֶםtheir-sinsבְּכׇל־עֵתwith-all-timeוַתַּשִׂיגֵםis-come-upon-themהַחֵמָהthe-wrathעַד־כַּלֵּה׃to-the-uttermost

    Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

    וַאֲנַחְנוּand-we-areאַחַיmy-brothersאַחֲרֵיafterאֲשֶׁר־שָׁכֹלְנוּbeing-taken-fromאֶתְכֶםyouלִזְמַןfor-space-ofמְעַטsomewhatלְפָנִיםin-presenceוְלֹאnotלַלֵּבin-heartחַשְׁנוּwe-endeavoredעַד־מְאֹדexceedinglyלִרְאוֹתto-seeפְּנֵיכֶםyour-faceבִּתְשׁוּקָהwith-longingרַבָּה׃much

    But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

  18. 18

    וְעַל־כֵּןand-thereforeחָפַצְנוּwe-desiredלָבוֹאto-comeאֲלֵיכֶםunto-youאֲנִיIפוֹלוֹסPaulפַּעַםonceוּשְׁתָּיִםand-againוְהַשָׂטָןand-Satanעֲצָרָנוּ׃hindered-us

    Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

  19. 19

    כִּיbecauseמִיwhoתִקְוָתֵנוּour-hopeוּמִיand-whoשִׂמְחָתֵנוּour-joyוַעֲטֶרֶתand-a crown ofתִּפְאַרְתֵּנוּour-rejoicingהֲלֹאdo-notגַם־אַתֶּםalso-youלִפְנֵיbeforeאֲדֹנֵינוּour-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahבְּבוֹאוֹ׃at-his-coming

    For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

  20. 20

    אׇמְנָםtrulyאַתֶּםyou-areכְּבוֹדֵנוּour-gloryוְשִׂמְחָתֵנוּ׃and-joy

    For ye are our glory and joy.
