1. 1

   וְעַתָּהforasmuch-thenכַּאֲשֶׁרasעֻנָּהhath-sufferedהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahבַּעֲדֵנוּfor-usבַּבָּשָׂרin-the-fleshכֵּןlikewiseהֱיוּarmגַם־אַתֶּםyourselves-alsoמְזֻיָּנִיםarmedבַּדַּעַתwith-the-mindהַהִיאthe-sameכִּיforהַמְעֻנֶּהhe-that-hath-sufferedבַבָּשָׂרin-the-fleshחָדַלhath-ceasedלַחֲטוֹא׃from-sin

   Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

   לְמַעַןthatאֲשֶׁרheלֹאnotתִחְיוּshould-liveעוֹדany-longerלְתַאֲוֹתto-the-lustsבְּנֵיof-the-sons-ofאָדָםmanכִּיbutאִםratherלִרְצוֹןto-the-will-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodכׇּל־יְמֵיall-the-daysהֱיֹתְכֶםof-your-beingעוֹדstillבַּבָּשָׂר׃in-the-flesh

   That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

   כִּיbecauseרַבsufficethלָנוּusעֲשׂוֹתto-have-wroughtכְּחֵפֶץthe-will-ofהַגּוֹיִםthe-Gentilesבַּיָּמִיםin-the-daysהָרִאשֹׁנִיםpastיְמֵיthe-days-ofלֶכְתֵּנוּour-walkingבְּדַרְכֵיin-the-ways-ofזִמָּהlasciviousnessוּבְתַאֲוֹתand-in-lustsכְּסֹבְאֵיas-drunkards-ofיַיִןwineוְזֹלֲלֵיand-gluttons-ofבָשָׂרfleshוְרֹדְפֵיand-followers-ofשֵׁכָרstrong-drinkוְתוֹעֲבוֹתand-abominations-ofעֲבֹדַתthe-service-ofהָאֱלִילִים׃idols

   For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

   וְעַל־זֹאתwhereinתְּמֵהִיםthink-it-strangeהֵמָּהtheyוּמְגַדְּפִיםand-speak-evilכִּיthatלֹא־תָרוּצוּyou-run-notעִמָּהֶםwith-themלִהְיוֹתto-beשְׁטוּפִיםoverflowedבְּזִמָּהin-riotכְּמוֹהֶם׃like-them

   Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

   אֲשֶׁרwhichיִתְּנוּshall-giveחֶשְׁבּוֹןaccountלִפְנֵיto-himהֶעָתִידthat-is-readyלִשְׁפֹּטto-judgeהַחַיִּיםthe-quickוְהַמֵּתִים׃and-the-dead

   Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

6. 6

   כִּיbecauseעַל־כֵּןfor-this-causeהִתְבַּשְׂרוּwas-the-gospel-preachedגַּם־הַמֵּתִיםalso-to-the-deadלְמַעַןthatיִדּוֹנוּthey-might-be-judgedבַבָּשָׂרin-the-fleshכִּבְנֵי־אָדָםaccording-to-menוְיִחְיוּbut-liveבָּרוּחַin-the-spiritכְּדֶרֶךְaccording-toאֱלֹהִים׃God

   For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

7. 7

   הֵןbutקֵץthe-end-ofהַכֹּלall-thingsקָרֵבis-at-handלָכֵןthereforeהֱיוּbeצְנוּעִיםsoberוְעֵרִיםand-watchלְהִתְפַּלֵּל׃unto-prayer

   But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

   וְקֹדֶםand-aboveכׇּל־דָּבָרall-thingsאֶהֱבוּloveאִישׁoneאֶת־אָחִיוhis-brotherאַהֲבָהwith-loveעַזָּהferventכִּיforעַל־רֹבthe-multitude-ofפְּשָׁעִיםsinsתְּכַסֶּהshall-coverהָאַהֲבָה׃charity

   And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

9. 9

   הֱיוּbeמְאָרֲחִיםgiven-to-hospitalityאִישׁoneאֶת־רֵעֵהוּto-anotherבִּבְלִיwithoutתְלֻנּוֹת׃grudging

   Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

10. 10

    אִישׁeveryאִישׁmanכְּמַתַּןas-the-giftהַחֶסֶדof-graceאֲשֶׁרwhichקִבֵּלhe-receivedתַּעַזְרוּministerאִישׁoneלְרֵעֵהוּto-anotherכְּסֹכְנִיםas-stewardsמְמֻנִּיםappointedעַל־חַסְדֵיof-the-graces-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodהָרַבִּים׃manifold

    As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11. 11

    הַמְדַבֵּרhe-that-speakethיְדַבֵּרlet-him-speakאִמְרֵי־אֵלthe-oracles-of-Godוְהָעֹזֵרand-he-that-ministerethיַעֲזֹרlet-him-ministerמִתּוֹךְofהַחַיִלthe-abilityאֲשֶׁרwhichחֲנָנוֹgiveth-himאֱלֹהִיםGodלְמַעַןthatיִכָּבֵדmay-be-glorifiedאֱלֹהִיםGodבַּכֹּלin-all-thingsעַל־יְדֵיthroughיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahאֲשֶׁרwhichלוֹto-himהַכָּבוֹדthe-gloryוְהָעֹזand-the-dominionלְעוֹלְמֵיfor-everעוֹלָמִיםand-everאָמֵן׃amen

    If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

    חֲבִיבַיmy-belovedבְּבֹאֲכֶםwhen-you-enterבְּתוֹךְintoכּוּרthe-furnace-ofעֳנִיafflictionלְמַעַןtoנַסֹּתְכֶםtry-youאַל־נָאdo-notתִתְמָהוּthink-it-strangeכְּאִלּוּas-thoughקָרָהhappenedאֶתְכֶםunto-youמִקְרֶהa-thingזָר׃strange

    Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

13. 13

    כִּיbecauseאִם־שִׂמְחוּbut-rejoiceעַל־אֲשֶׁרinasmuch-asחֵלֶקa-partלָכֶםyou-haveבְּעִנּוּיֵיin-the-sufferings-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahלְמַעַןthatגַּם־תִּשְׂמְחוּyou-may-also-be-gladוְתַעַלְצוּand-rejoice-with-exceeding-joyבְּהִגָּלוֹתwhen-shall-be-revealedכְּבוֹדוֹ׃his-glory

    But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

14. 14

    אִם־יְחָרֲפוּif-they-reproachאֶתְכֶםyouלְמַעַן־שֵׁםfor-the-name-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahאַשְׁרֵיכֶםhappy-are-youכִּיforנָחָהrestethעֲלֵיכֶםupon-youרוּחַthe-Spirit-ofהַכָּבוֹדgloryוְהַגְּבוּרָהand-the-powerרוּחַthe-Spirit-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodאֶצְלָםon-their-partמְנֹּאָףis-evil-spoken-ofהוּאheוְאֶצְלְכֶםbut-on-your-partנִכְבָּד׃is-glorified

    If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

15. 15

    כִּיbecauseאַל־יְעֻנֶּהlet-none-sufferאִישׁa-manמִכֶּםof-youכְּרֹצֵחַas-a-murdererאוֹorכְגַנָּבas-a-thiefאוֹ־כְפֹעֵלor-as-a-doer-ofאָוֶןevilאוֹ־כְנִכְנָסor-as-a-busybodyבִּתְחוּםin-other-men's-mattersשֶׁאֵינוֹthat-is-notשֶׁלּוֹ׃his-own

    But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

16. 16

    וְכִי־יְעֻנֶּהyet-if-he-sufferכְּאַחַדas-one-ofהַמְּשִׁיחִיִּיםthe-Christiansאַל־יֵבוֹשׁlet-him-not-be-ashamedכִּיbutאִם־יוֹדֶהlet-him-glorifyלֵאלֹהִיםGodעַל־הַדָּבָרon-this-behalfהַזֶּה׃this

    Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

17. 17

    כִּיbecauseעֵתthe-time-is-comeהָחֵלthat-must-beginהַמִּשְׁפָּטjudgmentמִבֵּיתat-the-house-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodוְאִם־מִמֶּנּוּand-if-at-usרִאשֹׁנָהfirstמַה־תִּהְיֶהwhat-shall-beאַחֲרִיתthe-end-ofהַמַּמְרִיםthem-that-obey-notאֶת־בְּשׂוֹרַתthe-gospel-ofאֱלֹהִים׃God

    For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

18. 18

    הֵןbeholdצַדִּיקa-righteous-manכִּמְעַטalmostלֹאnotיִוָּשֵׁעַis-savedאַףhow-much-moreכִּי־רָשָׁעthe-wickedוְחוֹטֵא׃and-the-sinner

    And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

19. 19

    לָכֵןthereforeגַּם־הַמְעֻנִּיםlet-them-that-sufferכִּרְצוֹןaccording-to-the-will-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodיַפְקִידוּcommitאֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵיהֶםtheir-soulsבְּיַדinto-the-hand-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodהַבֹּרֵאthe-Creatorהַנֶּאֱמָןthe-faithfulוְיוֹסִיפוּand-continueלַעֲשׂוֹתto-doהַטּוֹב׃well

    Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
