   אֶת־הַזְּקֵנִיםet-haz/ze/ke/NIMthe eldersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho areבְּקִרְבְּכֶםbe/kir/be/KHEMamong youאַזְהִירaz/HIRwarnאֲנִיa/NIIאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho amגַּם־אֲנִיgam-a/NII alsoזָקֵןza/KENan elderוְעֵדve/EDand a witness ofעִנּוּיֵיin/nu/YEthe sufferings ofהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahוְגַם־חָבֵרve/GAM-cha/VERand also a companionלַכָּבוֹדlak/ka/VODin the gloryאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיִגָּלֶה׃yig/ga/LEwill be revealed

   The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

   רְעוּre/Ushepherdאֶת־עֵדֶרet-E/derthe flock ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבְּקִרְבְּכֶםbe/kir/be/KHEMamong youוּפִקְדוּu/fik/DUand overseeאֹתוֹo/TOitלֹאlonotבְאֹנֶסve/O/nesby compulsionכִּיkibutאִםimratherבִּנְדָבָהbin/da/VAwillinglyוְלֹאve/LOand notבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURforבֶּצַעBE/tsagainרָעraevilכִּיkibutאִם־בְּנֶפֶשׁim-be/NE/feshrather with a soulחֲפֵצָה׃cha/fe/TSAwilling

   Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

   וְלֹאve/LOand notכְּרֹדִיםke/ro/DIMas rulingבְּנַחֲלַתbe/na/cha/LATover the inheritance ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDכִּיkibutאִם־בִּהְיוֹתְכֶםim-bih/yot/KHEMrather beingמוֹפֵתmo/FETan exampleלָעֵדֶר׃la/E/derto the flock

   Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

   וּבְהֵרָאוֹתu/ve/he/ra/OTand when appearsשַׂרsarthe chief ofהָרֹעִיםha/ro/IMthe shepherdsתִּקְחוּtik/CHUyou will receiveעֲטֶרֶתa/TE/retthe crown ofכָּבוֹדka/VODgloryאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotתִבּוֹל׃tib/BOLfades

   And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

   וְכֵןve/KHENand soאַתֶּםat/TEMyouהַצְּעִירִיםhats/tse/i/RIMthe youngerהִכָּנְעוּhik/ka/ne/Usubmitלַזְּקֵנִיםlaz/ze/ke/NIMto the eldersוְכֻלְּכֶםve/khul/le/KHEMand all of youהִכָּנְעוּhik/ka/ne/Usubmitאִישׁisha manלְרֵעֵהוּle/re/E/huto his neighborוְלִבְשׁוּve/liv/SHUand put onעֲנָוָהa/na/VAhumilityכִּיkiforאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodעֹמֵדo/MEDstandsלְנֶגֶדle/NE/gedagainstגֵּאִיםge/IMthe proudוְלַעֲנָוִיםve/la/a/na/VIMand to the meekיִתֶּן־חֵן׃yit/TEN-chengives grace

   Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

   הַשְׁפִּילוּhash/PI/luhumbleנַפְשְׁכֶםnaf/she/KHEMyour soulאֵפוֹאe/FOthenתַּחַתTA/chatunderיַד־אֱלֹהִיםyad-e/lo/HIMthe hand of Godהַחֲזָקָהha/cha/za/KAmightyלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיְרוֹמֵםye/ro/MEMHe may exaltאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבְּעִתּוֹ׃be/it/TOin its time

   Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

   הַשְׁלִיכוּhash/LI/khucastעָלָיוa/LAYVupon Himאֶת־כׇּל־דַּאֲגַתְכֶםet-kol-da/a/gat/KHEMall your anxietyכִּיkiforהוּאhuHeדֹּאֵגdo/EGcaresלָכֶם׃la/KHEMfor you

   Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8. 8

   הֱיוּhe/YUbeנְבוֹנִיםne/vo/NIMprudentשִׁקְדוּshik/DUkeep watchכִּיkiforיְרִיבְכֶםye/ri/ve/KHEMyour adversaryהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanכְּאַרְיֵהke/ar/YElike a lionשֹׁאֵגsho/EGroaringמִתְהַלֵּךְmit/hal/LEKHwalks aboutוּמְבַקֵּשׁu/me/vak/KESHand seekingאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhomיְבַלַּע׃ye/val/LAhe may swallow

   Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

   אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomעִמְדוּim/DUstandלְנֶגְדּוֹle/neg/DOagainst himחֲזָקִיםcha/za/KIMstrongבָּאֱמוּנָהba/e/mu/NAin the faithבְּדַעְתְּכֶםbe/da/te/KHEMknowingכִּיkithatהַצָּרוֹתhats/tsa/ROTthe troublesהָהֵןha/HENthoseנִשְׁלָמוֹתnish/la/MOTare accomplishedבַּאֲחֵיכֶםba/a/che/KHEMin your brothersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat areבָּעוֹלָם׃ba/o/LAMin the world

   Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

    וֵאלֹהֵיve/lo/HEand the God ofכׇל־הַחֶסֶדkhol-ha/CHE/sedall graceאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoקָרָאka/RAcalledאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusלִכְבוֹדוֹlikh/vo/DOto His gloryאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEbyהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe MessiahיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatסְבַלְתֶּםse/val/TEMyou have sufferedמְעַטme/ATa littleהוּאhuHeיַשְׁלִיםyash/LIMwill completeאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouיְחַזֵּקye/chaz/ZEKwill strengthenיְגַבֵּרye/gab/BERwill make mightyוְיַעֲמִידve/ya/a/MIDand establishאֶתְכֶם׃et/KHEMyou

    But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

    לוֹloto Himהַכָּבוֹדhak/ka/VODthe gloryוְהַמֶּמְשָׁלָהve/ham/mem/sha/LAand the dominionלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMfor everוָעֶדva/EDand everאָמֵן׃a/MENamen

    To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

    בְּיַדbe/YADby the hand ofסִלְוָנוֹסSil/va/NOSSilvanusהָאָחha/ACHthe brotherהַנֶּאֱמָןhan/ne/e/MANfaithfulלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאֶחֱשֹׁבe/che/SHOVI reckonכָּתַבְתִּיka/TAV/tiI have writtenאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youבִּדְבָרִיםbid/va/RIMin wordsמְעַטִּיםme/at/TIMfewלְהַזְהִירle/haz/HIRto warnוּלְהָעִידu/le/ha/IDand to testifyכִּיkithatזֶהzethisהוּאhuisחֶסֶדCHE/sedthe grace ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodהָאֱמֶתha/e/METtrueאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבּוֹboin itאַתֶּםat/TEMyouעֹמְדִים׃om/DIMstand

    By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.

    הַקְּהִלָּהhak/ke/hil/LAthe churchאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבְּבָבֶלbe/Va/VELin Babylonהַנִּבְחֶרֶתhan/niv/CHE/retthe chosenעִמָּכֶםim/ma/KHEMwith youשֹׁאֶלֶתsho/E/letasksלִשְׁלוֹמְכֶםlish/lom/KHEMafter your peaceוְכֵןve/KHENand soמַרְקוֹסMar/KOSMarcusבְּנִי׃be/NImy son

    The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.

    שַׁאֲלוּsha/a/LUaskאִישׁisha manלִשְׁלוֹםlish/LOMafter the peace ofרֵעֵהוּre/E/huhis neighborבִּנְשִׁיקַתbin/shi/KATwith a kiss ofחֶסֶדCHE/sedcharityשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceיְהִיye/HIbeעִם־כֻּלְּכֶםim-kul/le/KHEMwith you allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho areבַּמָּשִׁיחַbam/Ma/SHI/achin the MessiahיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאָמֵן׃a/MENamen

    Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
