1. 1

   אֶת־הַזְּקֵנִיםthe-eldersאֲשֶׁרwhichבְּקִרְבְּכֶםare-among-youאַזְהִירI-exhortאֲנִיIהַזָּקֵןwho-am-an-elderעֲמִיתָםtheir-fellowוְעֵדand-a-witness-ofעִנּוּיֵיthe-sufferings-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahוְגַם־חָבֵרand-also-a-partakerלַכָּבוֹדof-the-gloryהֶעָתִידthat-shallלְהִגָּלוֹת׃be-revealed

   The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

   רְעוּfeedאֶת־עֵדֶרthe-flock-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodאֲשֶׁרwhichתַּחַתis-underיֶדְכֶםyour-handוְהַשְׁגִּיחוּtaking-the-oversightעֲלֵיהֶםthereofלֹאnotבְאֹנֶסby-constraintכִּיbutאִםratherבִּנְדָבָהwillinglyכִּרְצוֹןaccording-to-the-will-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodוְלֹאand-notעֵקֶבforבֶּצַעlucreרָעfilthyכִּיbutאִם־בְּנֶפֶשׁof-a-mindחֲפֵצָה׃ready

   Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

   אַף־לֹאneitherכְּרוֹדָנִיםas-being-lordsבְּנַחֲלַתover-the-heritage-ofיְהוָֹהthe-Lordכִּיbutאִם־לִהְיוֹתbeingמוֹפֵתensamplesלַצֹּאן׃to-the-flock

   Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

   וּבְהוֹפָעַתand-when-shall-appearשַׂרthe-chief-ofהָרֹעִיםthe-shepherdsתִּשְׂאוּyou-shall-receiveעֲטֶרֶתa-crown-ofהַכָּבוֹדgloryאֲשֶׁרthatלֹאnotתִבֹּל׃fadeth-away

   And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

   וְכֵןlikewiseגַּם־אַתֶּםalso-youהַנְּעָרִיםyoungerהִכָּנְעוּsubmit-yourselvesלִפְנֵיuntoהַזְּקֵנִיםthe-elderוְחִגְרוּand-be-clothedכֻלְּכֶםall-of-youשִׁפְלוּתwith-lowliness-ofרוּחַspiritבְּהִכָּנֵעַbeing-subjectאִישׁoneלְרֵעֵהוּto-anotherכִּיforאֱלֹהִיםGodלַלֵּצִיםthe-scornersיָלִיץhe-scornethוְלַעֲנָוִיםbut-unto-the-humbleיִתֶּן־חֵן׃he-giveth-grace

   Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

   הַשְׁפִּילוּhumbleנַפְשְׁכֶםyourselvesתַּחַתunderיַד־אֱלֹהִיםthe-hand-of-Godהַחֲזָקָהmightyלְמַעַןthatיְרוֹמֵםhe-may-exaltאֶתְכֶםyouבְּעִתּוֹ׃in-due-time

   Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

   הַשְׁלִיכוּcastingעָלָיוupon-himכׇּל־יְהָבְכֶםall-your-careכִּיforהוּאheיִדְאַגcarethלָכֶם׃for-you

   Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8. 8

   הִתְעוֹרֲרוּbe-soberשְׁקֹדוּbe-vigilantכִּיbecauseיְרִיבְכֶםyour-adversaryהַשָּׂטָןthe-devilמִתְהַלֵּךְwalketh-aboutכְּאַרְיֵהas-a-lionשֹׁאֵגroaringוּמְבַקֵּשׁseekingאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhomיְבַלֵּעַ׃he-may-devour

   Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

   וַעֲמַדְתֶּםwhom-resistנֶגְדּוֹagainst-himחֲזָקִיםstedfastבָּאֱמוּנָהin-the-faithוּדְעוּand-knowכִּי־עִנּוּיִםthat-afflictionsכָּאֵלֶּהsuch-as-theseבָּאוּare-accomplishedגַם־עַל־אֲחֵיכֶםin-your-brethrenאֲשֶׁרthat-areבָּעוֹלָם׃in-the-world

   Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10. 10

    וֵאלֹהֵיbut-the-God-ofכׇל־הַחֶסֶדall-graceאֲשֶׁרwhoקָרָאhath-calledאֶתְכֶםusלִכְבוֹדוֹunto-his-gloryהַנִּצְחִיeternalבַּמָּשִׁיחַby-the-MessiahיֵשׁוּעַJesusאַחֲרֵיafterעֻנּוֹתְכֶםyou-have-sufferedמְעַטa-whileהוּאheיַשְׁלִיםmake-perfectאֶתְכֶםyouוִיחַזֵּקstablishוִיגַבֵּרstrengthenוִייַסֵּד׃settle

    But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

11. 11

    לוֹto-himהַכָּבוֹדthe-gloryוְהָעֹזand-the-dominionלְעוֹלְמֵיfor-everעוֹלָמִיםand-everאָמֵן׃amen

    To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

12. 12

    בְּיַדbyסִלְוָנוֹסSilvanusהָאָחthe-brotherהַנֶּאֱמָןthe-faithfulכִּיforכֵןsoאֶחֱשֹׁבI-supposeכָּתַבְתִּיI-have-writtenאֲלֵיכֶםunto-youבִּדְבָרִיםin-wordsמְעַטִּיםfewלְהַזְהִירexhortingאֶתְכֶםyouוּלְהָעִידand-testifyingכִּיthatחֶסֶדthe-grace-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodהַזֶּהthisאֲשֶׁרwhereinעֲמַדְתֶּםyou-standבּוֹin-itאֱמֶתtrueהוּא׃is

    By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.

    קְהִלַתְּכֶםyour-fellow-churchאֲשֶׁרwhichבְּבָבֶלat-Babylonהַנִּבְחָרָהelected-togetherאִתְּכֶםwith-youוּמַרְקוֹסand-Marcusבְּנִיmy-sonשֹׁאֲלִיםsaluteלִשְׁלוֹמְכֶם׃you

    The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.

14. 14

    שַׁאֲלוּgreetאִישׁoneאֶת־רֵעֵהוּanotherלְשָׁלוֹםwith-peaceבִּנְשִׁיקַתwith-a-kiss-ofאַהֲבָהcharityשָׁלוֹםpeaceלָכֶםbe-with-youכֻּלְּכֶםallאֲשֶׁרthat-areבַּמָּשִׁיחַin-the-MessiahיֵשׁוּעַJesusאָמֵן׃amen

    Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
