   כׇּל־הַמַּאֲמִיןkol-ham/ma/a/MINeveryone who believesכִּיkithatיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהוּאhuisהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahהוּאhuhe isנוֹלַדno/LADbornמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMof Godוְכׇל־הָאֹהֵבve/KHOL-ha/o/HEVand everyone who lovesאֶת־מוֹלִידוֹet-mo/li/DOthe one who begot himיֶאֱהַבye/e/HAVlovesגַּםgamalsoאֶת־הַנּוֹלָדet-han/no/LADthe one bornמֵאִתּוֹ׃me/it/TOof Him

   Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

   בְּזֹאתbe/ZOTby thisנֵדַעne/DAwe knowכִּיkithatנֶאֱהַבne/e/HAVwe loveאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe sons ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodבְּאַהֲבָתֵנוּbe/a/ha/va/te/NUin our lovingאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםet-ha/e/lo/HIMGodוּבְשׇׁמְרֵנוּu/ve/shom/re/NUand in our keepingאֶת־מִצְוֹתָיו׃et-mits/vo/TAYVHis commandments

   By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

   כִּיkiforזֹאתzotthisאַהֲבַתa/ha/VATthe love ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodכִּיkithatנִשְׁמֹרnish/MORwe keepאֶת־מִצְוֹתָיוet-mits/vo/TAYVHis commandmentsוּמִצְוֹתָיוu/mits/vo/TAYVand His commandmentsלֹאlonotכְבֵדוֹתkhe/ve/DOTheavyהֵנָּה׃HEN/naare they

   For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

   כִּיkiforכׇּל־הַנּוֹלָדkol-han/no/LADeveryone bornמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMof Godכֹּבֵשׁko/VESHovercomesאֶת־הָעוֹלָםet-ha/o/LAMthe worldוְזֶהve/ZEand thisהוּאhuisהַנִּצָּחוֹןhan/nits/tsa/CHONthe victoryהַכֹּבֵשׁhak/ko/VESHthe one who overcomesאֶת־הָעוֹלָםet-ha/o/LAMthe worldאֱמוּנָתֵנוּ׃e/mu/na/te/NUour faith

   For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

   מִיmiwhoהוּאhuis heהַכֹּבֵשׁhak/ko/VESHthe one who overcomesאֶת־הָעוֹלָםet-ha/o/LAMthe worldכִּיkibutאִם־הַמַּאֲמִיןim-ham/ma/a/MINrather the one who believesכִּיkithatיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהוּאhuisבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִים׃ben-Ha/e/lo/HIMthe Son of God

   Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

   זֶהzethisהוּאhuis heאֲשֶׁר־בָּאa/SHER-bawho cameבְּמַיִםbe/MA/yimby waterוּבְדָםu/ve/DAMand bloodיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahלֹאlonotבְּמַיִםbe/MA/yimby waterלְבַדle/VADonlyכִּיkibutאִםimratherבַּמַּיִםbam/MA/yimby the waterוּבַדָּםu/vad/DAMand the bloodוְהָרוּחַve/Ha/RU/achand the Spiritהוּאhuisהַמֵּעִידham/me/IDthe one who testifiesכִּיkiforהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritהוּאhuisהָאֱמֶת׃ha/e/METthe truth

   This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

   כִּיkiforשְׁלֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeהֵםhemtheyהַמְּעִידִיםham/me/i/DIMwho testifyבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin heavenהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherהַדָּבָרhad/Da/VARthe Wordוְרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁve/RU/ach-hak/KO/deshand the Holy Spiritוּשְׁלָשְׁתָּםush/losh/TAMand the three of themאֶחָדe/CHADoneהֵמָּה׃HEM/maare

   For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

8. 8

   וּשְׁלֹשָׁהu/she/lo/SHAand threeהֵמָּהHEM/maareהַמְּעִידִיםham/me/i/DIMwho testifyבָּאָרֶץba/A/retson earthהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritהַמַּיִםham/MA/yimthe waterוְהַדָּםve/had/DAMand the bloodוּשְׁלָשְׁתָּםush/losh/TAMand the three of themלְאֶחָדle/e/CHADto oneהֵם׃hemthey

   And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

   אִם־נְקַבֵּלim-ne/kab/BELif we receiveעֵדוּתe/DUTthe testimony ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofאָדָםa/DAMmenעֵדוּתe/DUTthe testimony ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodגְּדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreaterהִיאhiisכִּיkiforזֹאתzotthisהִיאhiisעֵדוּתe/DUTthe testimony ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהֵעִידhe/IDHe testifiedעַל־בְּנוֹ׃al-Be/NOabout His Son

   If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

    הַמַּאֲמִיןham/ma/a/MINthe one who believesבְּבֶן־הָאֱלֹהִיםbe/VEN-ha/e/lo/HIMin the Son of Godיֶשׁ־לוֹyesh-lohasעֵדוּתe/DUTthe testimonyבְּנַפְשׁוֹbe/naf/SHOin his soulוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoeverלֹאlodoes notיַאֲמִיןya/a/MINbelieveלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMGodלְכֹזֵבle/kho/ZEVa liarשָׂמָהוּsa/MA/huhas made HimיַעַןYA/anbecauseלֹא־הֶאֱמִיןlo-he/e/MINhe has not believedבָּעֵדוּתba/e/DUTthe testimonyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהֵעִידhe/IDtestifiedהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodעַל־בְּנוֹ׃al-Be/NOabout His Son

    He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

11. 11

    וְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisהִיאhiisהָעֵדוּתha/e/DUTthe testimonyכִּיkithatחַיֵּיchay/YEthe life ofעוֹלָםo/LAMeternityנָתַןna/TANgaveלָנוּLA/nuusהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוְהַחַיִּיםve/ha/chay/YIMand the lifeהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/lethisבִּבְנוֹBiv/NOin His Sonהֵמָּה׃HEM/mais

    And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12. 12

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoeverיֶשׁ־לוֹyesh-lohasהַבֵּןhab/BENthe Sonיֶשׁ־לוֹyesh-lohasחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoeverאֵין־לוֹen-lodoes not haveבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִיםben-Ha/e/lo/HIMthe Son of Godאֵיןenthere is notלוֹloto himחַיִּים׃chay/YIMlife

    He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

    אֵלֶּהEL/lethese thingsכָּתַבְתִּיka/TAV/tiI have writtenאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youהַמַּאֲמִינִיםham/ma/a/mi/NIMwho believeבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִיםben-Ha/e/lo/HIMthe Son of Godלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתֵּדְעוּted/Uyou may knowכִּיkithatיֵשׁyeshthere isלָכֶםla/KHEMto youחַיֵּיchay/YElifeעוֹלָםo/LAMeternityוּלְמַעַןu/le/MA/anand thatתַּאֲמִינוּta/a/MI/nuyou may believeבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMon the name ofבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִים׃ben-Ha/e/lo/HIMthe Son of God

    These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

14. 14

    וְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisהִיאhiisהַבִּטְחָהhab/bit/CHAthe confidenceאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלָנוּLA/nuwe haveבוֹvoin Himכִּיkithatאִם־נִשְׁאַלim-nish/ALif we askדָּבָרda/VARanythingכִּרְצוֹנוֹkir/tso/NOaccording to His willיִשְׁמַעyish/MAHe hearsאֵלֵינוּ׃e/LE/nuto us

    And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

15. 15

    וְאִםve/IMand ifיָדַעְנוּya/DA/nuwe knowכִּיkithatיִשְׁמַעyish/MAHe hearsאֵלֵינוּe/LE/nuto usבְּכׇל־אֲשֶׁרbe/KHOL-a/SHERwhateverנִשְׁאַלnish/ALwe askיָדַעְנוּya/DA/nuwe knowכִּיkithatיֵשׁyeshthere areלָנוּLA/nuto usהַמִּשְׁאָלוֹתham/mish/a/LOTthe requestsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatשָׁאַלְנוּsha/al/NUwe askedמֵעִמּוֹ׃me/im/MOfrom him

    And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

16. 16

    אִישׁisha manכִּי־יִרְאֶהki-yir/Eif he seesאֶת־אָחִיוet-a/CHIVhis brotherחֹטֵאcho/TEsinningחַטָּאתchat/TATa sinאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֵינֶנָּהe/NEN/nais notלַמָּוֶתlam/MA/vetto deathיִשְׁאַלyish/ALlet him askוְיִתֶּן־לוֹve/yit/TEN-loand He will give himחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERfor those whoחָטְאוּcha/te/Uhave sinnedלֹאlonotלַמָּוֶתlam/MA/vetto deathיֵשׁyeshthere isחֵטְאcheta sinלַמָּוֶתlam/MA/vetto deathלֹאlonotאֹמַרo/MARdo I sayכִּיkithatיִתְפַּלֵּלyit/pal/LELhe should prayבַּעֲדוֹ׃ba/a/DOfor it

    If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

17. 17

    כׇּל־עַוְלָהkol-av/LAall unrighteousnessחֵטְאchetsinהִיאhiisוְיֵשׁve/YESHand there isחַטָּאתchat/TATa sinאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֵינֶנָּהe/NEN/nais notלַמָּוֶת׃lam/MA/vetto death

    All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

18. 18

    יָדַעְנוּya/DA/nuwe knowכִּיkithatכׇל־הַנּוֹלָדkhol-han/no/LADeveryone bornמֵאֵתme/ETfromהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלֹאlodoes notיֶחֱטָאye/che/TAsinכִּיkibutאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthe one whoיֻלַּדyul/LADwas bornמֵאֵתme/ETfromהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodיִשְׁמֹרyish/MORkeepsאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹet-naf/SHOhis soulוְהָרַעve/ha/RAand the evil oneלֹא־יִגַּעlo-yig/GAdoes not touchבּוֹ׃bohim

    We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

19. 19

    וְיָדַעְנוּve/ya/DA/nuand we knowכִּיkithatמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMfrom Godאֲנָחְנוּa/NACH/nuwe areוְכׇל־הָעוֹלָםve/KHOL-ha/o/LAMand the whole worldשֹׁכֵבsho/KHEVlyingבָּרֶשַׁע׃ba/RE/shain wickedness

    And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

20. 20

    וְיָדַעְנוּve/ya/DA/nuand we knowכִּיkithatבָאvahas comeבֶּן־אֱלֹהִיםben-E/lo/HIMthe Son of Godוַיִּתֶּן־לָנוּvay/YIT/ten-LA/nuand has given usבִינָהvi/NAunderstandingלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowאֶת־הָאֲמִתִּיet-Ha/a/mit/TIthe true Oneוּבָאֲמִתִּיu/Va/a/mit/TIand in the true Oneאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuwe areבִּבְנוֹBiv/NOin His SonיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahזֶהzethisהוּאhuisהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodהָאֱמֶתha/e/METthe truthוְחַיֵּיve/chay/YEand the life ofעוֹלָם׃o/LAMeternal

    And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

21. 21

    בָּנַיba/NAYmy childrenהִשָּׁמְרוּhish/sha/me/RUguardלָכֶםla/KHEMyourselvesמִן־הָאֱלִילִיםmin-ha/e/li/LIMfrom idolsאָמֵן׃a/MENamen

    Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
