   Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?

   וְאִם־אֵינֶנִּיve/IM-e/NEN/niand if I am notשָׁלִיחַsha/LI/achan apostleלַאֲחֵרִיםla/a/che/RIMto othersלָכֶםla/KHEMto youשָׁלִיחַsha/LI/achan apostleאָנִיA/niam Iכִּיkiforחוֹתַםcho/TAMthe seal ofשְׁלִיחוּתִיshe/li/chu/TImy apostleshipאַתֶּםat/TEMare youבָּאָדוֹן׃ba/a/DONin the Lord

   If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.

   וְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisתְּשׁוּבָתִיte/shu/va/TImy answerלַבֹּחֲנִיםlab/bo/cha/NIMto those who examineאוֹתִי׃o/TIme

   Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,

   הַאֵיןha/ENhave we noרִשְׁיוֹןrish/YONrightלָנוּLA/nufor usלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLto eatוְלִשְׁתּוֹת׃ve/lish/TOTand to drink

   Have we not power to eat and to drink?

5. 5

   הַאֵיןha/ENhave we noרִשְׁיוֹןrish/YONrightלָנוּLA/nufor usלְהוֹלִיךְle/ho/LIKHto leadעִמָּנוּim/MA/nuwith usאָחוֹתa/CHOTa sisterלְאִשָּׁהle/ish/SHAas a wifeכַּשְּׁלִיחִיםkash/she/li/CHIMas the apostlesהָאֲחֵרִיםha/a/che/RIMotherוְכַאֲחֵיve/kha/a/CHEand as the brothers ofהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordוּכְמוֹu/khe/MOand asכֵיפָא׃Khe/FACephas

   Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

   אוֹoorהֲרַק־לִיha/RAK-liI onlyוּלְבַר־נַבָּאu/Le/VAR-nab/BAand to Barnabasאֵיןenis there notרִשְׁיוֹןrish/YONrightלַחֲדֹלla/cha/DOLto ceaseלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTfrom doingמְלָאכָה׃me/la/KHAwork

   Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?

   מִיmiwhoיָצָאya/TSAgoes outבַצָּבָאvats/tsa/VAin the armyבְּכַסְפּוֹbe/khas/POwith his moneyמִיmiwhoנָטַעna/TAplantsכֶּרֶםKE/rema vineyardוְלֹאve/LOand notיֹאכַלyo/KHALeatsאֶת־פִּרְיוֹet-pir/YOits fruitמִיmiwhoרֹעֶהro/EshepherdsעֵדֶרE/dera flockוּמֵחֲלֵבu/me/cha/LEVand of the milk ofהָעֵדֶרha/E/derthe flockלֹאlonotיֹאכַל׃yo/KHALeats

   Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?

   הַכְדֶרֶךְhakh/DE/rekhis it according to the way ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofאָדָםa/DAMmenאֲנִיa/NIIמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERspeakכָּזֹאתka/ZOTsuch thingsהֲלֹאha/LOdoes notגַם־הַתּוֹרָהgam-hat/to/RAthe law alsoאֹמֶרֶתo/ME/retsayכֵּן׃kenso

   Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?

9. 9

   כִּיkiforכָתוּבkha/TUVit is writtenבְּתוֹרַתbe/to/RATin the law ofמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesלֹא־תַחְסֹםlo-tach/SOMyou shall not muzzleשׁוֹרshoran oxבְּדִישׁוֹbe/di/SHOin its threshingהֲלַשְּׁוָרִיםha/lash/she/va/RIMis it for the oxenדֹּאֵגdo/EGcaresהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

   For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

    אוֹoorרַק־לְמַעֲנֵנוּrak-le/ma/a/ne/NUonly for our sakeמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERHe speaksאָכֵןa/KHENsurelyלְמַעֲנֵנוּle/ma/a/ne/NUfor our sakeנִכְתַּבnikh/TAVit was writtenכִּיkithatהַחֹרֵשׁha/cho/RESHthe plowmanיַחֲרֹשׁya/cha/ROSHshould plowאֱלֵי־תִקְוָהe/LE-tik/VAin hopeוְהַדָּשׁve/had/DASHand the thresherיָדוּשׁya/DUSHshould threshאֱלֵי־תִקְוָהe/LE-tik/VAin hopeלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto takeחֶלְקוֹchel/KOhis partבְּתִקְוָתוֹ׃be/tik/va/TOin his hope

    Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

    אִם־זָרַעְנוּim-za/ra/NUif we have sownבָכֶםva/KHEMamong youדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe things ofהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritהֲדָבָרha/da/VARis it a thingגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatהוּאhuis itאִם־נִקְצֹרim-nik/TSORif we reapמִכֶּםmik/KEMfrom youדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe things ofהַבָּשָׂר׃hab/ba/SARthe flesh

    If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

12. 12

    וְאִםve/IMand ifלַאֲחֵרִיםla/a/che/RIMothersיֵשׁyeshhaveרִשְׁיוֹןrish/YONrightעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMover youהֲלֹאha/LOare notיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreלָנוּLA/nufor usאֲבָלa/VALneverthelessלֹאlonotעָשִׂינוּa/SI/nuwe didבָּרִשְׁיוֹןba/rish/YONthe rightהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּיkibutאִםimratherסָבַלְנוּsa/val/NUwe boreאֶת־הַכֹּלet-hak/KOLall thingsלְבִלְתִּי־שׂוּםle/vil/TI-sumso as not to putמַעְצֹרma/TSORa hindranceלִבְשׂוֹרַתliv/so/RATto the gospel ofהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

    If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

    הֲלֹאha/LOdo notיְדַעְתֶּםye/da/TEMyou knowכִּיkithatעֹבְדֵיov/DEthose who serveעֲבֹדַתa/vo/DATthe service ofהַקֹּדֶשׁhak/KO/deshthe sanctuaryאֹכְלִיםokh/LIMeatמִן־הַקֳּדָשִׁיםmin-hak/ko/da/SHIMfrom the holy thingsוּמְשָׁרֲתֵיu/me/sha/ra/TEand those who serveהַמִּזְבֵּחַham/miz/BE/achthe altarלֹקְחִיםlok/CHIMtakeחֶלְקָםchel/KAMtheir portionבַּמִּזְבֵּחַ׃bam/miz/BE/achin the altar

    Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

14. 14

    כֵּןkeneven soצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordכִּיkithatהַמְבַשְּׂרִיםham/vas/se/RIMthose who proclaim the gospelיִחְיוּyich/YUwill liveמִן־הַבְּשׂוֹרָה׃min-hab/be/so/RAfrom the gospel

    Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

15. 15

    וְאָנֹכִיve/a/no/KHIand Iלֹאlonotעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tididבְּאַחַתbe/a/CHATin oneמֵאֵלֶּהme/EL/leof theseוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלֹא־כָתַבְתִּיlo-kha/TAV/tiI did not writeזֹאתzotthisלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיֵעָשֶׂה־לִּיye/a/SE-liit should be done to meכֵּןkensoכִּי־טוֹבki-tovfor betterלִיlifor meהַמָּוֶתham/MA/vetdeathמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERthan thatיָשִׂיםya/SIMshould makeאִישׁisha manאֶת־תִּפְאַרְתִּיet-tif/ar/TImy gloryלָרִיק׃la/RIKempty

    But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.

16. 16

    אִם־אֲבַשֵּׂרim-a/vas/SERif I proclaimאֶת־הַבְּשׂוֹרָהet-hab/be/so/RAthe gospelאֵין־לִיen-liI have noלְהִתְפָּאֵרle/hit/pa/ERto gloryכִּי־צֹרֶךְki-TSO/rekhfor necessityמוּשָׂםmu/SAMis laidעָלַיa/LAYupon meוְאוֹיve/OYand woeלִיlito meאִם־לֹאim-loif notאֲבַשֵּׂר׃a/vas/SERI proclaim

    For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

17. 17

    כִּיkiforאִם־בִּרְצוֹנִיim-bir/tso/NIif by my willאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEI doיִהְיֶה־לִּיyih/YE-liI will haveשָׂכָרsa/KHARa wageוְאִםve/IMbut ifבְּלֹאbe/LOwithoutרְצוֹנִיre/tso/NImy willפְּקֻדָּהpe/kud/DAa chargeהׇפְקְדָהhof/ke/DAwas entrustedאִתִּי׃it/TIwith me

    For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.

18. 18

    וּמַה־שְּׂכָרִיu/MA-se/kha/RIand what is my wageאֵפוֹאe/FOthenאָכֵןa/KHENtrulyכִּיkithatבְּבַשְּׂרִיbe/vas/se/RIin my proclaimingאָשִׂיםa/SIMI may makeאֶת־בְּשׂוֹרַתet-be/so/RATthe gospel ofהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahבְּלֹא־מְחִירbe/LO-me/CHIRwithout priceלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIso as notהִתְעַלֵּלhit/al/LELI abuseבְּרִשְׁיוֹנִיbe/rish/yo/NIin my rightבַּבְּשׂוֹרָה׃bab/be/so/RAin the gospel

    What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

19. 19

    כִּיkiforבִּהְיוֹתִיbih/yo/TIbeingחׇפְשִׁיchof/SHIfreeמִכֹּלmik/KOLfrom allעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI madeאֶת־נַפְשִׁיet-naf/SHImyselfעֶבֶדE/veda servantלְכׇל־אָדָםle/KHOL-a/DAMto every manלִקְנוֹתlik/NOTto gainאֶת־הָרַבִּים׃et-ha/rab/BIMthe many

    For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

20. 20

    וָאֱהִיva/e/HIand I becameלַיְּהוּדִיםlay/Ye/hu/DIMto the JewsכִּיהוּדִיKi/hu/DIas a Jewלִקְנוֹתlik/NOTto gainאֶת־הַיְּהוּדִיםet-Hay/ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERto those whoתַּחַתTA/chatunderהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI becameכְּאִישׁke/ISHas a manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoתַּחַתTA/chatunderהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawלְמַעַןle/MA/anso asקְנוֹתke/NOTto gainאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERthose whoתַּחַתTA/chatunderהַתּוֹרָה׃hat/to/RAthe law

    And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

21. 21

    לַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERto those whoאֵיןenwithoutלָהֶםla/HEMto themתּוֹרָהto/RAlawהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI becameכְּאֵיןke/ENas withoutלִיlito meתּוֹרָהto/RAlawוְלֹאve/LOand notבְּלֹא־תוֹרָהbe/LO-to/RAwithout lawלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto GodכִּיkibutתַּחַתTA/chatunderהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawלַמָּשִׁיחַlam/Ma/SHI/achto the Messiahלְמַעַןle/MA/anso asקְנוֹתke/NOTto gainאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERthose whoאֵיןenwithoutלָהֶםla/HEMto themתּוֹרָה׃to/RAlaw

    To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

22. 22

    וְלַחַלָּשִׁיםve/la/chal/la/SHIMto the weakהָיִיתִיha/YI/tibecame Iכְחַלָּשׁkhe/chal/LASHas weakלִקְנוֹתlik/NOTto gainאֶת־הַחַלָּשִׁיםet-ha/chal/la/SHIMthe weakהַכֹּלhak/KOLallלְכֻלָּםle/khul/LAMto allנִהְיֵיתִיnih/YE/tiI have becomeלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatאוֹשִׁיעַo/SHI/aI might saveאֲחָדִיםa/cha/DIMsomeבְּכׇל־דֶּרֶךְ׃be/KHOL-DE/rekhin every way

    To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

23. 23

    וְאֶת־זֹאתve/ET-zotand thisאֲנִיa/NIIעֹשֶׂהo/SEdoבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURfor the sake ofהַבְּשׂוֹרָהhab/be/so/RAthe gospelלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיִהְיֶהyih/YEmay beחֶלְקִיchel/KImy partבָּהּbain itעִמָּכֶם׃im/ma/KHEMwith you

    And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

24. 24

    הֲלֹאha/LOdo notיְדַעְתֶּםye/da/TEMyou knowכִּי־הָרָצִיםki-ha/ra/TSIMthat the runnersבַּמֵּרוֹץbam/me/ROTSin a raceכֻּלָּםkul/LAMallרָצִיםra/TSIMrunאַךְakhbutאֶחָדe/CHADoneיִקַּחyik/KACHtakesאֶת־הַשָּׂכָרet-has/sa/KHARthe prizeכֵּןkensoרוּצוּru/TSUrunלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתַּשִּׂיגוּ׃tas/si/GUyou may obtain

    Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

25. 25

    וְכׇל־הַנֶּאֱבָקve/KHOL-han/ne/e/VAKand everyone who competesיִנָּזֵרyin/na/ZERabstainsמִכׇּל־דָּבָרmik/KOL-da/VARfrom everythingהֵמָּהHEM/matheyלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto obtainעֲטָרָהa/ta/RAa crownנֹבֶלֶתno/VE/letfadingוַאֲנַחְנוּva/a/NACH/nuand weלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto obtainעֲטָרָהa/ta/RAa crownאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹאlonotתִבּוֹל׃tib/BOLthat withers

    And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26. 26

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iרָץratsrunלֹאlonotכִּבְלִיkiv/LIas withoutדַעַתDA/atknowledgeהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iנִלְחָםnil/CHAMfightלֹאlonotכְּהוֹלֶםke/HO/lemas one that beatsרוּחַ׃RU/achthe wind

    I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

27. 27

    כִּיkibutאִם־אֲדַכֵּאim-a/dak/KErather I crushאֶת־גּוּפִיet-gu/FImy bodyוְאַכְנִיעֶנּוּve/akh/ni/en/NUand I subdue itפֶּןpenlestאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REwhenקׇרְאִיkor/Imy proclaimingלַאֲחֵרִיםla/a/che/RIMto othersאֶהְיֶהeh/YEI beאֲנִיa/NIIנִמְאָס׃nim/ASrejected

    But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
