1. 1

   וְלֹאand-notאֲכַחֵדI-would-hideמִכֶּםfrom-youאֶחָיbrethrenשֶׁאֲבוֹתֵינוּthat-our-fathersהָיוּwereכֻלָּםallתַּחַתunderהֶעָנָןthe-cloudוְכֻלָּםand-allעָבְרוּpassedבְּתוֹךְthroughהַיָּם׃the-sea

   Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

2. 2

   וְכֻלָּםand-allנִטְבְּלוּwere-baptizedלְמשֶׁהunto-Mosesבֶּעָנָןin-the-cloudוּבַיָּם׃and-in-the-sea

   And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

3. 3

   וְכֻלָּםand-allאָכְלוּdid-eatמַאֲכׇלmeatאֶחָדthe-sameרוּחָנִי׃spiritual

   And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

4. 4

   וְכֻלָּםand-allשָׁתוּdid-drinkמַשְׁקֶהdrinkאֶחָדthe-sameרוּחָנִיspiritualכִּיforשָׁתוּthey-drankמִן־הַצּוּרof-the-Rockהָרוּחָנִיspiritualהַהֹלֵךְthat-followedעִמָּהֶםthemוְהַצּוּרand-the-Rockהַהוּאthatהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃was-Christ

   And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

   אֲבָלbutרֻבָּםmany-of-themלֹאnotרָצָהwas-pleasedבָםwithהָאֱלֹהִיםGodוּפִגְרֵיהֶםfor-their-carcasesנָפְלוּfellבַמִּדְבָּר׃in-the-wilderness

   But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

   וְכׇל־זֹאתand-all-thisהָיְתָה־לָּנוּwas-to-usלְמוֹפֵתan-exampleלְבִלְתִּיthat-notהִתְאַוֹּתwe-should-lustלְרָעָהafter-evilכַּאֲשֶׁרasהִתְאַוּוּlustedגַּם־הֵמָּה׃they-also

   Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

7. 7

   וְלֹאneitherתִהְיוּbe-youעֹבְדֵיworshippers-ofאֱלִילִיםidolsכַּאֲשֶׁרasהָיוּwereמִקְצָתָםsome-of-themכְּמוֹasשֶׁכָּתוּבit-is-writtenוַיֵּשֶׁבsat-downהָעָםthe-peopleלֶאֱכֹלto-eatוְשָׁתוֹand-drinkוַיָּקֻמוּand-rose-upלְצַחֵק׃to-play

   Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

8. 8

   וְלֹא־נִהְיֶהneither-let-us-beזֹנִיםfornicatorsכַּאֲשֶׁרasזָנוּcommitted-fornicationמִקְצָתָםsome-of-themוַיִּפְּלוּand-fellבְּיוֹםin-dayאֶחָדoneשְׁלֹשָׁהthreeוְעֶשְׂרִיםand-twentyאֶלֶףthousandאִישׁ׃men

   Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

9. 9

   וְלֹא־נְנַסֶּהneither-let-us-temptאֶת־יְהוָֹהthe-LORDכַּאֲשֶׁרasנִסּוּהוּtempted-himמִקְצָתָםsome-of-themוַיְאַבְּדוּםand-destroyed-themהַנְּחָשִׁים׃the-serpents

   Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

10. 10

    גַּם־לֹאneitherתַלִּינוּmurmur-youכַּאֲשֶׁרasהִלִּינוּmurmuredמִקְצָתָםsome-of-themוַיָּמוּתוּand-were-destroyedבְּיַדby-the-hand-ofהַמַּשְׁחִית׃the-destroyer

    Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

11. 11

    כׇּל־זֹאתall-thisמְצָאָתַםhappened-unto-themלִהְיוֹתforלְמוֹפֵתensamplesוַתִּכָּתֵבand-are-writtenלְמוּסָרfor-admonitionלָנוּourאֲשֶׁר־הִגִּיעוּupon-whom-are-comeאֵלֵינוּunto-usקִצֵּיthe-ends-ofעוֹלָמִים׃the-world

    Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

12. 12

    לָכֵןwhereforeהָאֹמֵרhe-that-saithבְּנַפְשׁוֹin-himselfאֲנִיIעֹמֵדstandיֵרֶאtake-heedפֶּן־יִפּוֹל׃lest-he-fall

    Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

13. 13

    עֲדַיִןyetלֹא־בָאhath-not-comeעֲלֵיכֶםupon-youנִסָּיוֹןtemptationבִּלְתִּיbutכְּדֶרֶךְsuch-as-is-common-toבְּנֵי־אָדָםmanכִּי־נֶאֱמָןbut-faithfulהוּאisהָאֱלֹהִיםGodאֲשֶׁרwhoלֹאnotיַנִּיחַwill-sufferלְנַסּוֹתto-be-temptedאֶתְכֶםyouיוֹתֵרmoreעַלthanכֹּחֲכֶםyour-strengthכִּיbutאִםratherיִתֵּןwill-makeעִם־הַנִּסָּיוֹןwith-the-temptationגַּם־אַחֲרִיתוֹalso-a-way-to-escapeכְּדֵיthatשֶׁתּוּכְלוּyou-may-be-ableשְׂאֵת׃to-bear-it

    There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

14. 14

    עַל־כֵּןwhereforeחֲבִיבָיmy-dearly-belovedרַחֲקוּfleeמֵעֲבוֹדַתfrom-the-worship-ofאֱלִילִים׃idols

    Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

15. 15

    כְּדַבֵּרas-speakingאֶל־נְבוֹנִיםto-wise-menאֲנִיIמְדַבֵּרspeakוְאַתֶּםand-youבִּינוּjudgeאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhatאֹמַר׃I-say

    I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

16. 16

    כּוֹסthe-cup-ofשֶׁל־בְּרָכָהblessingאֲשֶׁרwhichאֲנַחְנוּweמְבָרֲכִיםblessעָלָיוoverהֲלֹאis-it-notהוּאthatמְחַבֵּרjoinethאֹתָנוּusלְדָמוֹto-the-bloodשֶׁל־הַמָּשִׁיחַof-Christוְהַלֶּחֶםand-the-breadאֲשֶׁרwhichאֲנַחְנוּweבֹצְעִיםbreakהֲלֹאis-it-notהוּאthatמְחַבֵּרjoinethאֹתָנוּusלְגוּפוֹto-the-bodyשֶׁל־הַמָּשִׁיחַ׃of-Christ

    The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

17. 17

    כִּי־לֶחֶםfor-breadאֶחָדoneהוּאisלָכֵןthereforeגּוּףbodyאֶחָדoneאֲנַחְנוּare-weהָרַבִּיםthe-manyמִפְּנֵיforשֶׂחֵלֶקare-partakersלְכֻלָּנוּall-of-usבַּלֶּחֶםof-the-breadהָאֶחָד׃the-one

    For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

18. 18

    הַבִּיטוּbeholdאֶל־יִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelשֶׁלְּפִיafterהַבָּשָׂרthe-fleshהֲלֹאare-notאֹכְלֵיthey-which-eat-ofהַזְּבָחִיםthe-sacrificesחַבְרֵיpartakers-ofהַמִּזְבֵּחַthe-altarהֵמָּה׃they

    Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?

19. 19

    וְעַתָּהthenמָהwhatאֹמַרsay-Iהֲיֵשׁis-thereמַמָּשׁany-thingבָּאֱלִילin-the-idolאִם־יֵשׁor-is-thereמַמָּשׁany-thingבְּזִבְחֵיin-the-sacrifices-ofאֱלִילִים׃idols

    What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

20. 20

    אֶלָּאbutמַה־שֶּׁיִּזְבְּחוּthat-which-they-sacrificeהַגּוֹיִםthe-Gentilesלַשֵּׁדִיםto-devilsהֵםtheyזֹבְחִיםsacrificeוְלֹאand-notלֵאלֹהִיםto-Godוַאֲנִיand-Iאֵיןnotרְצוֹנִיwouldשֶׁתִּהְיוּthat-you-should-beחֲבֵרִיםfellowsלַשֵּׁדִים׃with-devils

    But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

21. 21

    לֹאnotתוּכְלוּyou-canלִשְׁתּוֹתdrinkכּוֹסthe-cup-ofאֲדֹנֵינוּthe-Lordוְכוֹסand-the-cup-ofהַשֵּׁדִיםdevilsיָחַדtogetherוְלֹאand-notיִהְיֶהshall-haveחֵלֶקpartלָכֶםyouבְּשֻׁלְחַןin-the-table-ofאֲדֹנֵינוּthe-Lordוּבְשֻׁלְחַןand-in-the-table-ofהַשֵּׁדִים׃devils

    Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

22. 22

    הֲנָעֵזdo-we-dareלְהַקְנִיאto-provoke-to-jealousyאֶת־אֲדֹנֵינוּthe-Lordהֲכִיare-weחֲזָקִיםstrongerאֲנַחְנוּweמִמֶּנּוּ׃than-he

    Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

23. 23

    הַכֹּלall-thingsרְשׁוּתare-lawfulלִיfor-meאֲבָלbutלֹאnotכׇל־דָּבָרall-thingsמוֹעִילare-expedientהַכֹּלall-thingsרְשׁוּתare-lawfulלִיfor-meאֲבָלbutלֹאnotכׇל־דָּבָרall-thingsבֹּנֶה׃edify

    All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

24. 24

    אִישׁa-manאַל־יְבַקֵּשׁlet-not-seekדָּבָרthat-which-isלְעַצְמוֹhis-ownכִּיbutאִם־לְרֵעֵהוּ׃another's

    Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.

25. 25

    כׇּל־הַנִּמְכָּרwhatsoever-is-soldבַּשּׁוּקin-the-shamblesאֹתוֹthatתֹאכֵלוּeatוְאַל־תַּחְקְרוּask-no-questionמִפְּנֵיfor-sake-ofמִכְשֹׁלscruple-ofהַלֵּב׃conscience

    Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

26. 26

    כִּיforלַיְהוָֹהthe-LORD'sהָאָרֶץis-the-earthוּמְלוֹאָהּ׃and-the-fulness-thereof

    For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.

27. 27

    וְאִם־יִקְרָאand-if-bidאֶתְכֶםyouאִישׁanyמֵאֲשֶׁרof-them-thatאֵינָםare-notמַאֲמִינִיםbelievingוּרְצוֹנְכֶםand-you-be-disposedלָלֶכֶתto-goאֵלָיוto-himאָכוֹלeatתֹּאכְלוּyou-shall-eatמִכֹּלof-allאֲשֶׁר־יָשִׂימוּthat-is-setלִפְנֵיכֶםbefore-youוְאַל־תַּחְקְרוּask-no-questionמִפְּנֵיfor-sake-ofמִכְשׁוֹלscruple-ofהַלֵּב׃conscience

    If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.

28. 28

    וְכִי־יֹאמַרbut-if-sayלָכֶםunto-youאִישׁany-manזֶהthisהוּאisזֶבַחa-sacrifice-ofאֱלִילִיםidolsאַל־תֹּאכְלוּeat-notמִפְּנֵיfor-sake-ofאֹתוֹhimהַמּוֹדִיעַthat-shewed-itוּמִפְּנֵיand-for-sake-ofמִכְשׁוֹלscruple-ofהַלֵּבconscienceכִּיforלַיְהוָֹהthe-LORD'sהָאָרֶץis-the-earthוּמְלוֹאָהּ׃and-the-fulness-thereof

    But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:

29. 29

    וְהַלֵּבconscienceשֶׁאֲנִיIאֹמֵרsayלֹאnotלִבְּךָyours-ownכִּיbutאִםratherלֵבthe-conscience-ofרֵעֶךָthe-otherכִּיforלָמָּה־זֶּהwhyתִּדּוֹןis-judgedחֵרוּתִיmy-libertyעַל־יְדֵיofלֵבthe-conscience-ofהָאַחֵר׃another

    Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?

30. 30

    וְאִם־אֹכֵלand-if-I-eatאֲנִיIבִּבְרָכָהwith-thanksgivingלָמָּהwhyיֵצֵאshould-go-outלִיfor-meשֵׁםa-nameרַעevilעַל־הַדָּבָרfor-the-thingשֶׁאֲנִיwhich-Iמְבָרֵךְblessעָלָיו׃over

    For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

31. 31

    לָכֵןthereforeאִםwhetherתֹּאכְלוּyou-eatוְאִם־תִּשְׁתּוּor-drinkאוֹ־תַעֲשׂוּor-doדָבָרwhatsoeverעֲשׂוּdoהַכֹּלallלִכְבוֹדto-the-glory-ofאֱלֹהִים׃God

    Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

32. 32

    וְאַל־תִּתְּנוּgive-noneמִכְשֹׁלoffenseלֹאneitherלַיְּהוּדִיםto-the-Jewsוְלֹאnorלַיְּוָנִיםto-the-Greeksוְלֹאnorלִקְהִלַּתto-the-church-ofאֱלֹהִים׃God

    Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

33. 33

    כַּאֲשֶׁרeven-asגַּם־אָנֹכִיI-alsoמְבַקֵּשׁseekלִהְיוֹתto-beרָצוּיpleasingלַכֹּלto-all-menבַּכֹּלin-all-thingsוְלֹאnotאֲבַקֵּשׁseekingתּוֹעֶלֶתthe-profit-ofעַצְמִיmine-ownכִּי־אִםbutתּוֹעֶלֶתthe-profit-ofהָרַבִּיםmanyלְמַעַןthatיִוָּשֵׁעוּ׃they-may-be-saved

    Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
