   Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

   וְכֻלָּםve/khul/LAMand all of themנִטְבְּלוּnit/be/LUwere baptizedלְמֹשֶׁהle/Mo/SHEto Mosesבֶּעָנָןbe/a/NANin the cloudוּבַיָּם׃u/vay/YAMand in the sea

   And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

   וְכֻלָּםve/khul/LAMand all of themאָכְלוּa/khe/LUateמַאֲכַלma/a/KHALthe food ofרוּחַRU/achspiritאֶחָד׃e/CHADone

   And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

   וְכֻלָּםve/khul/LAMand all of themשָׁתוּSHA/tudrankמַשְׁקֵהmash/KEthe drink ofרוּחַRU/achspiritאֶחָדe/CHADoneכִּיkiforשָׁתוּSHA/tuthey drankמִצּוּרmits/TSURfrom the rockהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritהַהֹלֵךְha/ho/LEKHthat wentאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMafter themוְהַצּוּרve/hats/TSURand the Rockהַהוּאha/HUthatהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

   And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

   אֲבָלa/VALbutרֻבָּםrub/BAMmost of themלֹאlonotרָצָהra/TSAwas pleasedבָםvamwith themהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodכִּיkiforפִגְרֵיהֶםfig/re/HEMtheir corpsesנָפְלוּna/fe/LUfellבַמִּדְבָּר׃vam/mid/BARin the wilderness

   But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

   וְאֵלֶּהve/EL/leand theseהָיוּ־לָנוּha/YU-LA/nubecame to usלְמוֹפְתִיםle/mof/TIMas examplesלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInotהִתְאַוֹּתhit/av/VOTto craveלְרָעָהle/ra/Aevilכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהִתְאַוּוּhit/av/VUcravedגַּם־הֵמָּה׃gam-HEM/mathey also

   Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

   וְלֹאve/LOand notתִהְיוּtih/YUbeעֹבְדֵיov/DEservers ofאֱלִילִיםe/li/LIMidolsכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהָיוּha/YUwereמִקְצָתָםmik/tsa/TAMsome of themכַּכָּתוּבkak/ka/TUVas it is writtenוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand sat downהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLto eatוְשָׁתוֹve/sha/TOand drinkוַיָּקֻמוּvay/ya/KU/muand rose upלְצַחֵק׃le/tsa/CHEKto play

   Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

   וְלֹאve/LOneitherנִזְנֶהniz/NElet us commit fornicationכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasזָנוּza/NUfornicatedמִקְצָתָםmik/tsa/TAMsome of themוַיִּפְּלוּvay/yip/pe/LUand fellבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin a dayאֶחָדe/CHADoneשְׁלֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeוְעֶשְׂרִיםve/es/RIMand twentyאֶלֶףE/lefthousandאִישׁ׃ishmen

   Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

   וְלֹא־נְנַסֶּהve/LO-ne/nas/SEand let us not testאֶת־הַמָּשִׁיחַet-Ham/ma/SHI/achthe Messiahכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasנִסּוּהוּnis/su/HUtested Himמִקְצָתָםmik/tsa/TAMsome of themוַיְאַבְּדוּםvay/ab/be/DUMand destroyed themהַנְּחָשִׁים׃han/ne/cha/SHIMthe serpents

   Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

    וְאַלve/ALand do notתַּלִּינוּtal/li/NUmurmurכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהִלִּינוּhil/li/NUgrumbledמִקְצָתָםmik/tsa/TAMsome of themוַיָּמוּתוּvay/ya/MU/tuand they diedבְּיַדbe/YADby the hand ofהַמַּשְׁחִית׃ham/mash/CHITthe destroyer

    Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

    כׇּל־זֹאתkol-zotall thisמְצָאָתַםme/tsa/A/tambefell themלְמוֹפְתִיםle/mof/TIMas examplesוַתִּכָּתֵבvat/tik/ka/TEVand it was writtenלְמוּסָרle/mu/SARfor instructionלָנוּLA/nufor usאֲשֶׁר־הִגִּיעוּa/SHER-hig/GI/uon whom have comeאֵלֵינוּe/LE/nuto usקִצֵּיkits/TSEthe ends ofהָעוֹלָם׃ha/o/LAMthe world

    Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

12. 12

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהָאֹמֵרha/o/MERhe that saysבְּנַפְשׁוֹbe/naf/SHOin his soulאֲנִיa/NIIעֹמֵדo/MEDstandsיִשָּׁמֵרyish/sha/MERlet him take heedפֶּן־יִפּוֹל׃pen-yip/POLlest he fall

    Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

    עֲדַיִןa/DA/yinstillלֹא־בָאlo-vahas not comeעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMupon youמַסָּהmas/SAtrialבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptכְּדֶרֶךְke/DE/rekhaccording to the way ofבְּנֵי־אָדָםbe/NE-a/DAMthe sons of menכִּי־נֶאֱמָןki-ne/e/MANbut faithfulהוּאhuisהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹאlonotיַנִּיחַyan/NI/achwill letכִּי־תְנֻסּוּki-te/nus/SUthat you be testedיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreמִכֹּחֲכֶםmik/ko/cha/KHEMbeyond your strengthכִּיkibutאִםimratherיִתֵּןyit/TENHe will giveעִם־הַמַּסָּהim-ham/mas/SAwith the trialגַּם־מִפְלָטgam-mif/LATalso a way to escapeלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתּוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou may be ableשְׂאֵת׃se/ETto bear it

    There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeיְדִידַיye/di/DAYmy belovedנוּסוּnu/SUfleeמֵעֲבוֹדַתme/a/vo/DATfrom the worship ofאֱלִילִים׃e/li/LIMidols

    Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

15. 15

    כְּדַבֵּרke/dab/BERas speakingאֶל־נְבוֹנִיםel-ne/vo/NIMto the discerningאֲנִיa/NIIמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERspeakוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youשִׁפְטוּshif/TUjudgeאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatאֹמַר׃o/MARI say

    I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

16. 16

    כּוֹסkosthe cup ofהַבְּרָכָהhab/be/ra/KHAblessingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweמְבָרֲכִיםme/va/ra/KHIMblessהֲלֹאha/LOis it notהוּאhuitחֶבְרַתchev/RATthe fellowship ofדַּםdamthe blood ofהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahוְהַלֶּחֶםve/hal/LE/chemand the breadאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweבֹצְעִיםvots/IMbreakהֲלֹאha/LOis it notהוּאhuitחֶבְרַתchev/RATthe fellowship ofגּוּףgufthe body ofהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

    The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

17. 17

    כִּיkiforאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweהָרַבִּיםha/rab/BIMthe manyלֶחֶםLE/chembreadאֶחָדe/CHADoneוְגוּףve/GUFand bodyאֶחָדe/CHADoneכִּיkiforחֵלֶקCHE/leka shareלְכֻלָּנוּle/khul/LA/nufor all of usבַּלֶּחֶםbal/LE/chemin the breadהָאֶחָד׃ha/e/CHADthe one

    For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

18. 18

    הַבִּיטוּhab/BI/tulookאֶל־יִשְׂרָאֵלel-Yis/ra/ELat Israelלְפִיle/FIaccording toהַבָּשָׂרhab/ba/SARthe fleshהֲלֹאha/LOare notאֹכְלֵיokh/LEthe eaters ofהַזְּבָחִיםhaz/ze/va/CHIMthe sacrificesחַבְרֵיchav/REcompanions ofהַמִּזְבֵּחַham/miz/BE/achthe altarהֵמָּה׃HEM/mathey

    Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?

19. 19

    מָהmawhatאֹמַרo/MARdo I sayאֵפוֹאe/FOthenהֲכִיha/KHIthatהָאֱלִילha/e/LILthe idolדָּבָרda/VARanythingאוֹoorכִּי־זֶבַחki-ZE/vachthat a sacrificeאֱלִילִיםe/li/LIMidolsדָּבָר׃da/VARanything

    What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

20. 20

    אַךְakhbutאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIכִּיkithatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhatיִזְבְּחוּyiz/be/CHUsacrificeהַגּוֹיִםhag/Go/YIMthe Gentilesלַשֵּׁדִיםlash/SHE/dimto demonsיִזְבְּחוּyiz/be/CHUthey sacrificeוְלֹאve/LOand notלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto Godוְלֹאve/LOand notאֶחְפֹּץech/POTSI wantכִּיkithatתִהְיוּtih/YUyou beחֲבֵרִיםcha/ve/RIMcompanionsעִם־הַשֵּׁדִים׃im-hash/she/DIMwith the demons

    But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

21. 21

    לֹאlonotתוּכְלוּtukh/LUcan youלִשְׁתּוֹתlish/TOTdrinkכּוֹסkosthe cup ofהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordוְכוֹסve/KHOSand the cup ofהַשֵּׁדִיםhash/she/DIMthe demonsיָחַדYA/chadtogetherוְלֹאve/LOand notיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beחֵלֶקCHE/leka shareלָכֶםla/KHEMto youבְּשֻׁלְחַןbe/shul/CHANin the table ofהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordוּבְשֻׁלְחַןu/ve/shul/CHANand in the table ofהַשֵּׁדִים׃hash/she/DIMthe demons

    Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

22. 22

    הֲנַקְנִיאha/nak/NIdo we provoke to jealousyאֶת־הָאָדוֹןet-ha/a/DONthe Lordהֲכִיha/KHIis it thatחֲזָקִיםcha/za/KIMstrongerאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuare weמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nuthan he

    Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

23. 23

    הַכֹּלhak/KOLallמֻתָּרmut/TARare lawfulלִיlito meאֲבָלa/VALbutלֹאlonotכׇל־דָּבָרkhol-da/VAReverythingמוֹעִילmo/ILprofitsהַכֹּלhak/KOLallמֻתָּרmut/TARare lawfulלִיlito meאֲבָלa/VALbutלֹאlonotכׇל־דָּבָרkhol-da/VAReverythingבֹּנֶה׃bo/NEbuilds up

    All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

24. 24

    אִישׁisha manאַל־יְבַקֵּשׁal-ye/vak/KESHlet not seekאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatלוֹloto himכִּיkibutאִם־אִישׁim-ishrather eachאֶת־טוֹבַתet-to/VATthe good ofרֵעֵהוּ׃re/E/huhis neighbor

    Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.

25. 25

    כׇּל־הַנִּמְכָּרkol-han/nim/KAReverything soldבַּשּׁוּקbash/SHUKin the marketאֹתוֹo/TOitתֹאכֵלוּto/KHE/lueatוְאַל־תַּחְקְרוּve/AL-tach/ke/RUand do not inquireבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURfor the sake ofהַלֵּב׃hal/LEVthe heart

    Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

26. 26

    כִּיkiforלַיְהוָֹהla-Adonaithe LORD'sהָאָרֶץha/A/retsis the earthוּמְלוֹאָהּ׃u/me/lo/Aand its fullness

    For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.

27. 27

    וְאִם־יִקְרָאve/IM-yik/RAand if invitesאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאִישׁisha manמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERof those whoאֵינָםe/NAMare notמַאֲמִינִיםma/a/mi/NIMbelievingוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youחֲפֵצִיםcha/fe/TSIMwantingלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאָכוֹלa/KHOLeatתֹּאכְלוּto/khe/LUyou shall eatמִכֹּלmik/KOLfrom allאֲשֶׁר־יָשִׂימוּa/SHER-ya/SI/muthat they setלִפְנֵיכֶםlif/ne/KHEMbefore youוְאַל־תַּחְקְרוּve/AL-tach/ke/RUand do not inquireבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURfor the sake ofהַלֵּב׃hal/LEVthe heart

    If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.

28. 28

    וְכִי־יֹאמַרve/KHI-yo/MARand if saysלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאִישׁisha manזֶהzethisהוּאhuisזֶבַחZE/vacha sacrifice ofאֱלִילִיםe/li/LIMidolsאַל־תֹּאכְלוּal-to/khe/LUdo not eatבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURfor the sake ofהַמַּגִּידham/mag/GIDthe one who toldוּבַעֲבוּרu/va/a/VURand for the sake ofהַלֵּבhal/LEVthe heartכִּיkiforלַיְהוָֹהla-Adonaithe LORD'sהָאָרֶץha/A/retsis the earthוּמְלוֹאָהּ׃u/me/lo/Aand its fullness

    But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:

29. 29

    וְהַלֵּבve/hal/LEVand the heartאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלֹאlonotלִבְּךָlib/be/KHAyour heartכִּיkibutאִםimratherלֵבlevthe heart ofרֵעֶךָre/E/khayour neighborכִּיkiforלָמָּה־זֶּהLAM/ma-zewhy thenיִשָּׁפֵטyish/sha/FETis judgedדְּרוֹרִיde/ro/RImy libertyעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEbyלֵבlevthe heart ofהָאַחֵר׃ha/a/CHERthe other

    Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?

30. 30

    וְאִםve/IMand ifאֲנִיa/NIIלֹקֵחַlo/KE/achtakingחֵלֶקCHE/leka shareבִּבְרָכָהbiv/ra/KHAwith blessingלָמָּהLAM/mawhyיֵצֵאye/TSEshould go outלִיlifor meשֵׁםshema nameרַעraevilעַל־הַדָּבָרal-had/da/VARfor the thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERfor whichאֲנִיa/NIIמוֹדֶהmo/DEgive thanksעָלָיו׃a/LAYVover it

    For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

31. 31

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאִםimifתֹּאכְלוּto/khe/LUyou eatוְאִם־תִּשְׁתּוּve/IM-tish/TUand if you drinkאוֹ־תַעֲשׂוּo-ta/a/SUor doדָבָרda/VARa thingעֲשׂוּa/SUdoהַכֹּלhak/KOLallלִכְבוֹדlikh/VODto the glory ofאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

32. 32

    וְאַל־תִּתְּנוּve/AL-tit/te/NUand do not giveמִכְשֹׁלmikh/SHOLa stumbling blockלֹאlonotלַיְּהוּדִיםlay/Ye/hu/DIMto the Jewsוְלֹאve/LOand notלַגּוֹיִםlag/Go/YIMto the Gentilesוְלֹאve/LOand notלִקְהִלַּתlik/hil/LATto the church ofאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

33. 33

    כַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasגַּם־אָנֹכִיgam-a/no/KHII alsoמְבַקֵּשׁme/vak/KESHseekלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beרָצוּיra/TSUYpleasingלַכֹּלlak/KOLto allבַּכֹּלbak/KOLin allוְלֹאve/LOnotאֲבַקֵּשׁa/vak/KESHdo I seekאֶת־טוֹבָתִיet-to/va/TImy goodכִּי־אִםki-imbutטוֹבַתto/VATthe good ofהָרַבִּיםha/rab/BIMthe manyלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִוָּשֵׁעוּ׃yiv/va/she/Uthey may be saved

    Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
