    אָזthenאָמַרsaidיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוunto-his-disciplesאִישׁif-any-manכִּי־יַחְפֹּץwillלָלֶכֶתcomeאַחֲרַיafter-meיְכַחֵשׁlet-him-denyבְּנַפְשׁוֹhimselfוְנָשָׂאand-take-upאֶת־צְלָבוֹhis-crossוְהָלַךְand-followאַחֲרָי׃me

    Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me.

    וְעַתָּהand-nowשְׂאֵתto-take-upאִישׁfor-a-manאֶת־צְלָבוֹhis-crossהִיאisלְכַחֵשׁto-denyבְּנַפְשׁוֹhimselfמִכׇּל־רֶשַׁעall-ungodlinessוּמִכׇּל־תַּאֲוַתand-every-lustהָעוֹלָםworldlyוְלִשְׁמֹרand-keepאֶת־מִצְוֹתַי׃my-commandments

    And now for a man to take up his cross, is to deny himself all ungodliness, and every worldly lust, and keep my commandments.

    אַל־תָּפֵרוּbreak-notאֶת־מִצְוֹתַיmy-commandmentsלְמַעַןfor-toהַצִּילsaveאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹתֵיכֶםyour-livesכִּיforהֶחָפֵץwhosoever-willלְהַצִּילsaveאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹhis-lifeבָּעוֹלָםin-the-worldהַזֶּהthisתֹּאבַדshall-loseנַפְשׁוֹitמִמֶּנּוּof-himבָּעוֹלָםin-the-worldהַבָּא׃to-come

    Break not my commandments for to save your lives; for whosoever will save his life in this world, shall lose it in the world to come.

    וְהַמְאַבֵּדand-whosoever-will-loseנַפְשׁוֹhis-lifeבָּעוֹלָםin-the-worldהַזֶּהthisלְמַעֲנִיfor-my-sakeהוּאheיִמְצָאֶנָּהshall-find-itבָּעוֹלָםin-the-worldהַבָּא׃to-come

    And whosoever will lose his life in this world, for my sake, shall find it in the world to come.

    לָכֵןthereforeעִזְבוּforsakeאֶת־הָעוֹלָםthe-worldוְהוֹשִׁיעוּand-saveאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹתֵיכֶםyour-soulsכִּיforמַה־יּוֹעִילwhat-is-profitedהָאָדָםa-manאִם־יִקְנֶהif-he-shall-gainאֶת־כׇּל־הָעוֹלָםthe-whole-worldוְהִשְׁחִיתand-loseאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹhis-own-soulאוֹorמַה־יִּתֵּןwhat-shall-giveהָאָדָםa-manפִּדְיוֹןin-exchange-forנַפְשׁוֹ׃his-soul

    Therefore, forsake the world, and save your souls; for what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
