   וַיְהִיwhenכִּשְׁמֹעַtherefore-had-heardהַפְּרוּשִׁיםthe-PhariseesכִּיthatיֵשׁוּעַJesusהֶעֱמִידmadeוְגַםandהִטְבִּילbaptizedתַּלְמִידִיםdisciplesהַרְבֵּהmoreמִיּוֹחָנָן׃than-John

   When therefore the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

   וַיְבַקְשׁוּthey-soughtבְּיֶתֶרmoreחֲרִיצוּתdiligentlyדֶּרֶךְsome-meansלַהֲמִיתוֹthat-they-might-put-him-to-deathכִּיforרַבִּיםmanyקִבְּלוּreceivedאֶת־יוֹחָנָןJohnכְּנָבִיאas-a-prophetאַךְbutלֹאnotהֶאֱמִינוּthey-believedבְּיֵשׁוּעַ׃on-Jesus

   They sought more diligently some means that they might put him to death; for many received John as a prophet, but they believed not on Jesus.

   וְהָאָדוֹןnow-the-Lordיָדַעknewזֹאתthisגַּם־כִּיthoughהוּאhe-himselfלֹאnotהִטְבִּילbaptizedרַבִּיםso-manyכְּתַלְמִידָיו׃as-his-disciples

   Now the Lord knew this, though he himself baptized not so many as his disciples;

   כִּיforהִנִּיחַhe-sufferedלָהֶםthemלְמוֹפֵתfor-an-exampleמַקְדִּימִיםpreferringאִישׁoneאֶת־רֵעֵהוּ׃another

   For he suffered them for an example, preferring one another.

5. 26

   כִּיforלְכָאֵלֶּהunto-suchהִבְטִיחַhath-promisedאֱלֹהִיםGodאֶת־רוּחוֹhis-Spiritוְהַמִּשְׁתַּחֲוִיםand-they-who-worshipלוֹhimיִשְׁתַּחֲווּmust-worshipבְּרוּחַin-spiritוּבֶאֱמֶת׃and-in-truth

   For unto such hath God promised his Spirit. And they who worship him, must worship in spirit and in truth.
