   בְּרֵאשִׁיתin-the-beginningבֻּשְּׂרָהwas-preachedהַבְּשׂוֹרָהthe-gospelעַל־יְדֵיthroughהַבֵּןthe-Sonוְהַבְּשׂוֹרָהand-the-gospelהָיְתָהwasהַדָּבָרthe-wordוְהַדָּבָרand-the-wordהָיָהwasאֶת־הַבֵּןwith-the-Sonוְהַבֵּןand-the-Sonהָיָהwasאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםwith-Godוְהַבֵּןand-the-Sonהָיָהwasמֵאֵתofהָאֱלֹהִים׃God

   In the beginning was the gospel preached through the Son. And the gospel was the word, and the word was with the Son, and the Son was with God, and the Son was of God.

   The same was in the beginning with God.

   כׇּל־דָּבָרall-thingsבְּיָדוֹby-himנַעֲשָׂהwere-madeוּמִבַּלְעָדָיוand-without-himלֹאnotנַעֲשָׂהwas-madeדָּבָרanythingאֲשֶׁרwhichנַעֲשָׂה׃was-made

   All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made which was made.

   בּוֹin-himהָיְתָהwasהַבְּשׂוֹרָהthe-gospelוְהַבְּשׂוֹרָהand-the-gospelהָיְתָהwasהַחַיִּיםthe-lifeוְהַחַיִּיםand-the-lifeהָיוּwasאוֹרthe-light-ofאָדָם׃men

   In him was the gospel, and the gospel was the life, and the life was the light of men;

   וְהָאוֹרand-the-lightמֵאִירshinethבָּעוֹלָםin-the-worldוְהָעוֹלָםand-the-worldלֹאnotיַשִּׂיגֶנּוּ׃perceiveth-it

   And the light shineth in the world, and the world perceiveth it not.

   וַיְהִיthere-wasאִישׁa-manשָׁלוּחַsentמֵאֵתfromהָאֱלֹהִיםGodוּשְׁמוֹwhose-name-wasיוֹחָנָן׃John

   There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

   הוּאthe-sameבָאcameלָעוֹלָםinto-the-worldלְעֵדוּתfor-a-witnessלְהָעִידto-bear-witnessעַל־הָאוֹרof-the-lightלְהָעִידto-bear-recordעַל־הַבְּשׂוֹרָהof-the-gospelעַל־יְדֵיthroughהַבֵּןthe-Sonלַכֹּלunto-allלְמַעַןthatיַאֲמִינוּmight-believeבְנֵיthe-sons-ofאָדָםmenעַל־יָדוֹ׃through-him

   The same came into the world for a witness, to bear witness of the light, to bear record of the gospel through the Son, unto all, that through him men might believe.

   הוּאheלֹא־הָיָהwas-notהָאוֹרthe-lightהַהוּאthatכִּי־אִםbutבָּאcameלְהָעִידto-bear-witnessעַל־הָאוֹרof-the-lightהַהוּא׃that

   He was not that light, but came to bear witness of that light,

   אֲשֶׁרwhichהָיָהwasהָאוֹרthe-lightהָאֲמִתִּיthe-trueהַמֵּאִירwhich-lightethלְכׇל־אָדָםevery-manהַבָּאwho-comethלָעוֹלָם׃into-the-world

   Which was the true light, which lighteth every man who cometh into the world;

10. 10

    גַּםevenבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Son-of-Godהוּאheאֲשֶׁרwhoהָיָהwasבָּעוֹלָםin-the-worldוְהָעוֹלָםand-the-worldבְּיָדוֹby-himנַעֲשָׂהwas-madeוְהָעוֹלָםand-the-worldלֹאnotיְדָעוֹ׃knew-him

    Even the Son of God. He who was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11. 11

    הוּאheבָאcameאֶל־אֲשֶׁרuntoלוֹhis-ownוַאֲשֶׁר־הֵמָּהand-they-that-wereלוֹhis-ownלֹאnotקִבְּלֻהוּ׃received-him

    He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12. 12

    אַךְbutכׇּל־הַמְקַבְּלִיםas-many-as-receivedאֹתוֹhimנָתַןgave-heלָהֶםto-themכֹּחַpowerלִהְיוֹתto-becomeבָּנִיםthe-sonsלֵאלֹהִיםof-Godרַקonlyלַמַּאֲמִינִיםto-them-who-believeבִּשְׁמוֹ׃on-his-name

    But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God; only to them who believe on his name.

13. 13

    הוּאheנוֹלַדwas-bornלֹאnotמִדָּםof-bloodוְלֹאnorמֵחֵפֶץof-the-will-ofהַבָּשָׂרthe-fleshוְלֹאnorמֵחֵפֶץof-the-will-ofגֶּבֶרmanכִּי־אִםbutמֵאֱלֹהִים׃of-God

    He was born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14. 14

    וְהַדָּבָרand-the-wordהַהוּאthe-sameנַעֲשָׂהwas-madeבָשָׂרfleshוְשָׁכַןand-dweltבְּתוֹכֵנוּamong-usוְרָאִינוּand-we-beheldאֶת־כְּבוֹדוֹhis-gloryכִּכְבוֹדthe-glory-as-ofיְחִידthe-Only-Begottenמֵאֵתofהָאָבthe-Fatherמָלֵאfull-ofחֶסֶדgraceוֶאֱמֶת׃and-truth

    And the same word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

    יוֹחָנָןJohnהֵעִידbear-witnessעָלָיוof-himוַיִּקְרָאand-criedלֵאמֹרsayingזֶהthisהוּאis-heאֲשֶׁרof-whomאָמַרְתִּיI-spakeהַבָּאhe-who-comethאַחֲרַיafter-meהָיָהis-preferredלְפָנָיbefore-meכִּיforקֹדֶם־לִיbefore-meהָיָה׃he-was

    John bear witness of him, and cried, saying, This is he of whom I spake; He who cometh after me, is preferred before me; for he was before me.

    For in the beginning was the Word, even the Son, who is made flesh, and sent unto us by the will of the Father. And as many as believe on his name shall receive of his fullness. And of his fullness have all we received, even immortality and eternal life, through his grace.

17. 17

    כִּיforהַתּוֹרָהthe-lawנִתְּנָהwas-givenבְּיַד־מֹשֶׁהthrough-Mosesאַךְbutהַחַיִּיםlifeוְהָאֱמֶתand-truthבָּאוּcameעַל־יְדֵיthroughיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃Christ

    For the law was given through Moses, but life and truth came through Jesus Christ.

18. 18

    כִּיforהַתּוֹרָהthe-lawהָיְתָהwasעַל־פִּיafterמִצְוַתa-commandmentבָּשָׂרcarnalלְשֵׁרוּתto-the-administration-ofהַמָּוֶתdeathאַךְbutהַבְּשׂוֹרָהthe-gospelהָיְתָהwasעַל־פִּיafterכֹּחַthe-power-ofחַיִּיםa-lifeאֵין־קֵץendlessעַל־יְדֵיthroughיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַChristהַבֵּןthe-Sonהַיָּחִידthe-Only-Begottenאֲשֶׁרwho-isבְּחֵיקin-the-bosom-ofהָאָב׃the-Father

    For the law was after a carnal commandment, to the administration of death; but the gospel was after the power of an endless life, through Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father.

19. 19

    וְאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםand-Godלֹא־רָאָהhath-not-seenאִישׁany-manמֵעוֹלָםat-any-timeכִּי־אִםexceptהֵעִידhe-hath-borne-recordעַל־הַבֵּןof-the-Sonכִּיforזוּלָתִיexceptעַל־יָדוֹit-is-through-himלֹאnotיִוָּשַׁעcan-be-savedאִישׁ׃any-man

    And no man hath seen God at any time, except he hath borne record of the Son; for except it is through him no man can be saved.

20. 20

    וְזֹאתand-this-isעֵדוּתthe-record-ofיוֹחָנָןJohnבִּשְׁלֹחַwhen-sentהַיְּהוּדִיםthe-Jewsכֹּהֲנִיםpriestsוּלְוִיִּםand-Levitesמִירוּשָׁלָיִםfrom-Jerusalemלִשְׁאֹלto-askאֹתוֹhimמִיwhoאָתָּה׃are-you

    And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem, to ask him; Who art thou?

21. 21

    וְהוּאand-heהוֹדָהconfessedוְלֹאand-notכִחֵשׁdeniedכִּיthatאֵלִיָּסEliasהוּאhe-wasוַיּוֹדֶהbut-confessedלֵאמֹרsayingלֹאnotהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Christאָנִי׃I-am

    And he confessed, and denied not that he was Elias; but confessed, saying; I am not the Christ.

22. 22

    וַיִּשְׁאָלֻהוּand-they-asked-himלֵאמֹרsayingוְאֵיךְhowאֵפוֹאthenאֵלִיָּסEliasאָתָּהare-youוַיֹּאמֶרand-he-saidאֵינֶנִּיI-am-notאֵלִיָּסEliasהַהוּאthatאֲשֶׁרwho-wasיָשִׁיבto-restoreאֶת־הַכֹּלall-thingsוַיִּשְׁאָלֻהוּand-they-asked-himלֵאמֹרsayingהַאַתָּהare-youהַנָּבִיאthe-prophetהַהוּאthatוַיַּעַןand-he-answeredלֹא׃no

    And they asked him, saying; How then art thou Elias? And he said, I am not that Elias who was to restore all things. And they asked him, saying, Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

23. 23

    וַיֹּאמְרוּthen-said-theyאֵלָיוunto-himמִי־זֶהwhoאָתָּהare-youלְמַעַןthatנָשִׁיבwe-may-giveאֶת־שֹׁלְחֵינוּto-them-that-sent-usדָּבָרan-answerמַה־תֹּאמַרwhat-sayest-youלְנַפְשֶׁךָ׃of-yourself

    Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

24. 24

    אָמַרhe-saidאֲנִיI-amקוֹלthe-voice-ofקוֹרֵאone-cryingבַּמִּדְבָּרin-the-wildernessיַשְּׁרוּmake-straightדֶּרֶךְthe-way-ofיְהוָהthe-LordכַּאֲשֶׁרasאָמַרsaithיְשַׁעְיָהוּEsaiasהַנָּבִיא׃the-prophet

    He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as saith the prophet Esaias.

25. 25

    וְהַשְּׁלוּחִיםand-they-who-were-sentהָיוּwereמִן־הַפְּרוּשִׁים׃of-the-Pharisees

    And they who were sent were of the Pharisees.

26. 26

    וַיִּשְׁאָלֻהוּand-they-asked-himוַיֹּאמְרוּand-saidאֵלָיוunto-himמַדּוּעַwhyאֵפוֹאthenמַטְבִּילbaptizestאָתָּהyouאִם־אֵינְךָif-you-be-notהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-ChristוְלֹאnorאֵלִיָּסEliasאֲשֶׁרwho-wasיָשִׁיבto-restoreאֶת־הַכֹּלall-thingsוְלֹאneitherהַנָּבִיאthe-prophetהַהוּא׃that

    And they asked him, and said unto him; Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not the Christ, nor Elias who was to restore all things, neither that prophet?

27. 27

    וַיַּעַןansweredאֹתָםthemיוֹחָנָןJohnלֵאמֹרsayingאֲנִיIמַטְבִּילbaptizeבַּמָּיִםwith-waterאַךְbutבְּתוֹכְכֶםamong-youעוֹמֵדthere-standethאֶחָדoneאֲשֶׁרwhomלֹאnotיְדַעְתֶּםyou-knowאֹתוֹ׃him

    John answered them, saying; I baptize with water, but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

28. 28

    הוּאhe-it-isאֲשֶׁרof-whomאֲנִיIמֵעִידbear-recordעָלָיוof-himהוּאhe-isהַנָּבִיאthe-prophetהַהוּאthatגַּםevenאֵלִיָּסEliasהַבָּאwho-comingאַחֲרַיafter-meהָיָהis-preferredלְפָנָיbefore-meוַאֲנִיand-Iנְקַלֹּתִיam-not-worthyמֵהַתִּירto-unlooseשְׂרוֹךְthe-latchet-ofנַעֲלוֹwhose-shoeאוֹorאֲשֶׁרwhoseאֶת־מְקוֹמוֹplaceלֹאnotאוּכַלI-am-ableלְמַלֵּאto-fillכִּיforהוּאheיַטְבִּילshall-baptizeלֹאnotבַמַּיִםwith-waterבִּלְבַדonlyכִּי־אִםbutבָּאֵשׁwith-fireוּבְרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃and-with-the-Holy-Ghost

    He it is of whom I bear record. He is that prophet, even Elias, who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose, or whose place I am not able to fill; for he shall baptize, not only with water, but with fire, and with the Holy Ghost.

29. 29

    וַיְהִיandמִמׇּחֳרָתthe-next-dayוַיַּרְאseethיוֹחָנָןJohnאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַJesusבָּאcomingאֵלָיוunto-himוַיֹּאמַרand-saidהִנֵּהbeholdשֵׂהthe-Lamb-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodהַנֹּשֵׂאwho-taketh-awayחַטַּאתthe-sin-ofהָעוֹלָם׃the-world

    The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and said; Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world!

30. 30

    וְיוֹחָנָןand-Johnהֵעִידbare-recordעָלָיוof-himאֶל־הָעָםunto-the-peopleלֵאמֹרsayingזֶהthisהוּאis-heאֲשֶׁרof-whomאָמַרְתִּיI-saidאַחֲרַיafter-meיָבֹאcomethאִישׁa-manאֲשֶׁרwhoהָיָהis-preferredלְפָנָיbefore-meכִּיforקֹדֶם־לִיbefore-meהָיָהhe-wasוַאֲנִיand-Iיְדַעְתִּיוknew-himוְכִיand-thatיִגָּלֶהhe-should-be-made-manifestלְיִשְׂרָאֵלto-Israelלָכֵןthereforeבָּאתִיam-I-comeמַטְבִּילbaptizingבַּמָּיִם׃with-water

    And John bare record of him unto the people, saying, This is he of whom I said; After me cometh a man who is preferred before me; for he was before me, and I knew him, and that he should be made manifest to Israel; therefore am I come baptizing with water.

31. 31

    וְיוֹחָנָןand-Johnהֵעִידbare-recordלֵאמֹרsayingבְּהִטָּבְלוֹwhen-he-was-baptizedעַל־יָדִיof-meרָאִיתִיI-sawאֶת־הָרוּחַthe-Spiritיֹרֶדֶתdescendingמִן־הַשָּׁמַיִםfrom-heavenכִּדְמוּתlikeיוֹנָהa-doveוַתָּנַחand-it-abodeעָלָיו׃upon-him

    And John bare record, saying; When he was baptized of me, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

32. 32

    וַאֲנִיand-Iיְדַעְתִּיוknew-himכִּיforהַשֹּׁלֵחַhe-who-sentאֹתִיmeלִטְבֹּלto-baptizeבַּמַּיִםwith-waterהוּאthe-sameאָמַרsaidאֵלַיunto-meאֲשֶׁרupon-whomתִּרְאֶהyou-shall-seeאֶת־הָרוּחַthe-Spiritיֹרֶדֶתdescendingוְנָחָהand-remainingעָלָיוon-himהוּאthe-same-is-heהַמַּטְבִּילwho-baptizethבְּרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃with-the-Holy-Ghost

    And I knew him; for he who sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me; Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he who baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

33. 33

    וַאֲנִיand-Iרָאִיתִיsawוָאָעִידand-bare-recordכִּיthatזֶהthisהוּאisבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִים׃the-Son-of-God

    And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

34. 34

    אֵלֶּהtheseהַדְּבָרִיםthe-thingsנַעֲשׂוּwere-doneבְּבֵיתin-Beth-עֲבָרָהabaraמֵעֵבֶרbeyondלַיַּרְדֵּןJordanאֲשֶׁרwhereיוֹחָנָןJohnמַטְבִּילwas-baptizingשָׁם׃there

    These things were done in Bethabara, beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
