Zechariah 7 זְכַרְיָה פרק ז׳

   וַיְהִיand it came to passבִּשְׁנַתin the year ofאַרְבַּעfourלְדָרְיָוֶשׁto Dariusהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingהָיָהwasדְבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDאֶל־זְכַרְיָהto Zechariahבְּאַרְבָּעָהin fourלַחֹדֶשׁof the monthהַתְּשִׁעִיthe ninthבְּכִסְלֵו׃in Chisleu

   And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu;

   וַיִּשְׁלַחand sentבֵּית־אֵלBeth-elשַׂרְאֶצֶרSharezerוְרֶגֶםand Regem-מֶלֶךְmelechוַאֲנָשָׁיוand his menלְחַלּוֹתto entreatאֶת־פְּנֵיface ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

   When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regem-melech, and their men, to pray before the LORD,

   לֵאמֹרsayingאֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִיםto the priestsאֲשֶׁרwhichלְבֵית־יְהֹוָהto the house of the LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsוְאֶל־הַנְּבִיאִיםand the prophetsלֵאמֹרsayingהַאֶבְכֶּהshould I weepבַּחֹדֶשׁin the monthהַחֲמִשִׁיthe fifthהִנָּזֵרseparating myselfכַּאֲשֶׁרasעָשִׂיתִיI madeזֶהthisכַּמֶּהthese how manyשָׁנִים׃years

   And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?

   וַיְהִיand it came to passדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsאֵלַיto meלֵאמֹר׃saying

   Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying,

   אֱמֹרsayאֶל־כׇּל־עַםto all peopleהָאָרֶץthe landוְאֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִיםand the priestsלֵאמֹרsayingכִּי־צַמְתֶּםbecause you fastedוְסָפוֹדand you mournedבַּחֲמִישִׁיin the fifth monthוּבַשְּׁבִיעִיand in the seventh monthוְזֶהand thisשִׁבְעִיםseventyשָׁנָהyearsהֲצוֹםdid you at allצַמְתֻּנִיdid you fast for meאָנִי׃I

   Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?

   וְכִיand thatתֹאכְלוּyou shall eatוְכִיand thatתִשְׁתּוּyou will drinkהֲלוֹאis it notאַתֶּםyou areהָאֹכְלִיםthat eatוְאַתֶּםand youהַשֹּׁתִים׃that drink

   And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

   הֲלוֹאis it notאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםthe wordsאֲשֶׁרwhichקָרָאcalledיְהֹוָהthe LORDבְּיַדin the hand ofהַנְּבִיאִיםthe prophetsהָרִאשֹׁנִיםthe firstבִּהְיוֹתwhile wasיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemיֹשֶׁבֶתwas inhabitedוּשְׁלֵוָהand at easeוְעָרֶיהָand its citiesסְבִיבֹתֶיהָwas around itוְהַנֶּגֶבand the southוְהַשְּׁפֵלָהand the plainיֹשֵׁב׃who dwell in

   Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?

8. 8

   וַיְהִיand it came to passדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDאֶל־זְכַרְיָהto Zechariahלֵאמֹר׃saying

   And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying,

   כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsלֵאמֹרsayingמִשְׁפַּטjudgmentאֱמֶתtruthשְׁפֹטוּjudgeוְחֶסֶדand lovingkindness ofוְרַחֲמִיםand compassionעֲשׂוּdoאִישׁa manאֶת־אָחִיו׃another

   Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

10. 10

    וְאַלְמָנָהand a widowוְיָתוֹםand a fatherless oneגֵּרa sojournerוְעָנִיand afflictedאַל־תַּעֲשֹׁקוּdo not oppressוְרָעַתand the harm ofאִישׁa manאָחִיוhis brotherאַל־תַּחְשְׁבוּyou need not supposeבִּלְבַבְכֶם׃in your hearts

    And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

11. 11

    וַיְמָאֲנוּand refused theyלְהַקְשִׁיבto give heedוַיִּתְּנוּand they gaveכָתֵףa shoulderסֹרָרֶתstubbornוְאׇזְנֵיהֶםand their earsהִכְבִּידוּthey stoppedמִשְּׁמוֹעַ׃for hearing

    But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.

12. 12

    וְלִבָּםand their heartsשָׂמוּthey madeשָׁמִירas an adamant stoneמִשְּׁמוֹעַfor hearingאֶת־הַתּוֹרָהthe Lawוְאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםand the wordsאֲשֶׁרwhichשָׁלַחsentיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsבְּרוּחוֹin His Spiritבְּיַדin the hand ofהַנְּבִיאִיםthe prophetsהָרִאשֹׁנִיםthe firstוַיְהִיand it came to passקֶצֶףwrathגָּדוֹלgreatמֵאֵתfromיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃of Hosts

    Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.

13. 13

    וַיְהִיand it came to passכַאֲשֶׁר־קָרָאas calledוְלֹאand notשָׁמֵעוּthey listenedכֵּןthusיִקְרְאוּthey shall callוְלֹאand notאֶשְׁמָעI heardאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃of Hosts

    Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:

14. 14

    וְאֵסָעֲרֵםand I will storm away themעַלuponכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםall the nationsאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יְדָעוּםnot they had known themוְהָאָרֶץand the landנָשַׁמָּהit has been made desolateאַחֲרֵיהֶםafter themמֵעֹבֵרfrom one who passes byוּמִשָּׁבand from one who returnsוַיָּשִׂימוּand they putאֶרֶץ־חֶמְדָּהland of delightלְשַׁמָּה׃desolate

    But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.
