   And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu;

   וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentבֵּית־אֵלBet-elBeth-elשַׂרְאֶצֶרSar/E/tserSharezerוְרֶגֶםve/RE/gemand Regem-מֶלֶךְME/lekhmelechוַאֲנָשָׁיוva/a/na/SHAYVand his menלְחַלּוֹתle/chal/LOTto entreatאֶת־פְּנֵיet-pe/NEthe face ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regem-melech, and their men, to pray before the LORD,

   לֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִיםel-hak/ko/ha/NIMto the priestsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich wereלְבֵית־יְהֹוָהle/VET-Adonaiof the house of the LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsוְאֶל־הַנְּבִיאִיםve/EL-han/ne/vi/IMand to the prophetsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהַאֶבְכֶּהha/ev/KEshould I weepבַּחֹדֶשׁba/CHO/deshin the monthהַחֲמִשִׁיha/cha/mi/SHIthe fifthהִנָּזֵרhin/na/ZERseparating myselfכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI have doneזֶהzetheseכַּמֶּהkam/MEso manyשָׁנִים׃sha/NIMyears

   And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?

   וַיְהִיvay/HIthen cameדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsאֵלַיe/LAYto meלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying,

   אֱמֹרe/MORsayאֶל־כׇּל־עַםel-kol-amto all the people ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landוְאֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִיםve/EL-hak/ko/ha/NIMand to the priestsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכִּי־צַמְתֶּםki-tsam/TEMwhen you fastedוְסָפוֹדve/sa/FODand mournedבַּחֲמִישִׁיba/cha/mi/SHIin the fifthוּבַשְּׁבִיעִיu/vash/she/vi/Iand in the seventhוְזֶהve/ZEeven theseשִׁבְעִיםshiv/IMseventyשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsהֲצוֹםha/TSOMfastצַמְתֻּנִיtsam/TU/nidid you fast to meאָנִי׃A/nieven to me

   Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?

   וְכִיve/KHIand whenתֹאכְלוּto/khe/LUyou eatוְכִיve/KHIand whenתִשְׁתּוּtish/TUyou drinkהֲלוֹאha/LOis it notאַתֶּםat/TEMyouהָאֹכְלִיםha/okh/LIMthat eatוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youהַשֹּׁתִים׃hash/sho/TIMthat drink

   And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

   הֲלוֹאha/LOare notאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichקָרָאka/RAhas criedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּיַדbe/YADbyהַנְּבִיאִיםhan/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsהָרִאשֹׁנִיםha/ri/sho/NIMformerבִּהְיוֹתbih/YOTwhen wasיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemיֹשֶׁבֶתyo/SHE/vetinhabitedוּשְׁלֵוָהu/she/le/VAand in prosperityוְעָרֶיהָve/a/RE/haand her citiesסְבִיבֹתֶיהָse/vi/vo/TE/haround about herוְהַנֶּגֶבve/han/NE/gevand the southוְהַשְּׁפֵלָהve/hash/she/fe/LAand the plainיֹשֵׁב׃yo/SHEVwere inhabited

   Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand cameדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֶל־זְכַרְיָהel-Ze/khar/YAto Zechariahלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying,

   כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמִשְׁפַּטmish/PATjudgment ofאֱמֶתe/METtruthשְׁפֹטוּshe/FO/tuexecuteוְחֶסֶדve/CHE/sedand mercyוְרַחֲמִיםve/ra/cha/MIMand compassionsעֲשׂוּa/SUshowאִישׁishevery manאֶת־אָחִיו׃et-a/CHIVto his brother

   Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

10. 10

    וְאַלְמָנָהve/al/ma/NAand the widowוְיָתוֹםve/ya/TOMand the fatherlessגֵּרgerthe strangerוְעָנִיve/a/NIand the poorאַל־תַּעֲשֹׁקוּal-ta/a/SHO/kudo not oppressוְרָעַתve/ra/ATand evil againstאִישׁisha manאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherאַל־תַּחְשְׁבוּal-tach/she/VUdevise notבִּלְבַבְכֶם׃bil/vav/KHEMin your hearts

    And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

    וַיְמָאֲנוּvay/ma/a/NUbut they refusedלְהַקְשִׁיבle/hak/SHIVto hearkenוַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand they gaveכָתֵףkha/TEFa shoulderסֹרָרֶתso/RA/retrebelliousוְאׇזְנֵיהֶםve/oz/ne/HEMand their earsהִכְבִּידוּhikh/BI/duthey made heavyמִשְּׁמוֹעַ׃mish/she/MO/athat they should not hear

    But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.

    וְלִבָּםve/lib/BAMyea their heartשָׂמוּSA/muthey madeשָׁמִירsha/MIRadamantמִשְּׁמוֹעַmish/she/MO/alest they should hearאֶת־הַתּוֹרָהet-hat/to/RAthe lawוְאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםve/ET-had/de/va/RIMand the wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichשָׁלַחsha/LACHhas sentיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsבְּרוּחוֹbe/Ru/CHOin His Spiritבְּיַדbe/YADbyהַנְּבִיאִיםhan/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsהָרִאשֹׁנִיםha/ri/sho/NIMformerוַיְהִיvay/HItherefore cameקֶצֶףKE/tsefwrathגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatמֵאֵתme/ETfromיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃tse/va/OTof hosts

    Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַאֲשֶׁר־קָרָאkha/a/SHER-ka/RAas He criedוְלֹאve/LOand notשָׁמֵעוּsha/ME/uthey would hearכֵּןkensoיִקְרְאוּyik/re/Uthey criedוְלֹאve/LOand notאֶשְׁמָעesh/MAI would hearאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃tse/va/OTof hosts

    Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:

    וְאֵסָעֲרֵםve/e/sa/a/REMand I scattered them with a whirlwindעַלalamongכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםkol-hag/go/YIMall the nationsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomלֹא־יְדָעוּםlo-ye/da/UMthey knew notוְהָאָרֶץve/ha/A/retsand the landנָשַׁמָּהna/SHAM/mawas desolateאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMafter themמֵעֹבֵרme/o/VERthat no man passed throughוּמִשָּׁבu/mish/SHAVnor returnedוַיָּשִׂימוּvay/ya/SI/mufor they laidאֶרֶץ־חֶמְדָּהE/rets-chem/DAthe pleasant landלְשַׁמָּה׃le/sham/MAdesolate

    But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.
