Ruth 3 רוּת פרק ג׳

1. 1

   וַתֹּאמֶרand saidלָהּto herנׇעֳמִיNaomiחֲמוֹתָהּher mother in lawבִּתִּיmy daughterהֲלֹאis it notאֲבַקֶּשׁ־לָךְwill I seek for youמָנוֹחַa resting placeאֲשֶׁרwhichיִיטַב־לָךְ׃it shall be well for you

   Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

2. 2

   וְעַתָּהand nowהֲלֹאis it notבֹעַזBoazמֹדַעְתָּנוּour relativeאֲשֶׁרwhichהָיִיתyou wereאֶת־נַעֲרוֹתָיוwith his maidensהִנֵּה־הוּאbehold it isזֹרֶהwinnowingאֶת־גֹּרֶןthe threshing floor ofהַשְּׂעֹרִיםthe barleyהַלָּיְלָה׃the night

   And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.

3. 3

   וְרָחַצְתְּand you will washוָסַכְתְּand you will anoint yourselfוְשַׂמְתְּand you will put(שמלתך)[שִׂמְלֹתַיִךְ]your garmentsעָלַיִךְupon you(וירדתי)[וְיָרַדְתְּ]and you shall go downהַגֹּרֶןto the threshing floorאַל־תִּוָּדְעִיdo not make yourself knownלָאִישׁto the manעַדuntilכַּלֹּתוֹhe has finishedלֶאֱכֹלto eatוְלִשְׁתּוֹת׃and to drink

   Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.

   וִיהִיand may beבְשׇׁכְבוֹwhen he lies downוְיָדַעַתְּand you shall knowאֶת־הַמָּקוֹםthe placeאֲשֶׁרwhichיִשְׁכַּב־שָׁםhe shall lie down thereוּבָאתand you will goוְגִלִּיתand you will uncoverמַרְגְּלֹתָיוhis feet(ושכבתי)[וְשָׁכָבְתְּ]and you will lie downוְהוּאand heיַגִּידwill tellלָךְto youאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhichתַּעֲשִׂין׃you will do

   And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.

   וַתֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלֶיהָto herכֹּלallאֲשֶׁר־תֹּאמְרִיthat you say[אֵלַי]unto meאֶעֱשֶׂה׃I do

   And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.

6. 6

   וַתֵּרֶדand she went downהַגֹּרֶןto the threshing floorוַתַּעַשׂand she preparedכְּכֹלaccording to allאֲשֶׁר־צִוַּתָּהthat commanded herחֲמוֹתָהּ׃her mother in law

   And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.

7. 7

   וַיֹּאכַלand he ateבֹּעַזBoazוַיֵּשְׁתְּand he drankוַיִּיטַבand was merryלִבּוֹhis heartוַיָּבֹאand cameלִשְׁכַּבto lie downבִּקְצֵהat the end ofהָעֲרֵמָהthe heapוַתָּבֹאand she cameבַלָּטsoftlyוַתְּגַלand she uncoveredמַרְגְּלֹתָיוhis feetוַתִּשְׁכָּב׃and she lay down

   And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.

8. 8

   וַיְהִיand it came to passבַּחֲצִיin the halfהַלַּיְלָהthe nightוַיֶּחֱרַדand he trembledהָאִישׁthe manוַיִּלָּפֵתand turned himselfוְהִנֵּהand beholdאִשָּׁהa womanשֹׁכֶבֶתwas lying downמַרְגְּלֹתָיו׃at his feet

   And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.

9. 9

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidמִי־אָתְּwho youוַתֹּאמֶרand saidאָנֹכִיIרוּתRuthאֲמָתֶךָyour slave womanוּפָרַשְׂתָּand you will spread outכְנָפֶךָyour skirtעַל־אֲמָתְךָupon your female slaveכִּיforגֹאֵלare a kinsman redeemerאָתָּה׃you are

   And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.

10. 10

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidבְּרוּכָהblessedאַתְּyouלַיהֹוָהto the LORDבִּתִּיmy daughterהֵיטַבְתְּyou have shewed betterחַסְדֵּךְyour kindnessהָאַחֲרוֹןthe lastמִן־הָרִאשׁוֹןfrom the firstלְבִלְתִּי־לֶכֶתin not goingאַחֲרֵיafterהַבַּחוּרִיםthe young menאִם־דַּלif poorerוְאִם־עָשִׁיר׃and if rich

    And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.

11. 11

    וְעַתָּהand nowבִּתִּיmy daughterאַל־תִּירְאִיdo not should be afraidכֹּלallאֲשֶׁר־תֹּאמְרִיthat you sayאֶעֱשֶׂה־לָּךְI do to youכִּיbecauseיוֹדֵעַknowsכׇּל־שַׁעַרall the gate ofעַמִּיmy peopleכִּיbecauseאֵשֶׁתthe wife ofחַיִלof virtueאָתְּ׃you

    And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

12. 12

    וְעַתָּהand nowכִּיbecauseאׇמְנָםverilyכִּיbecause(אם)גֹאֵלare a kinsman redeemerאָנֹכִיIוְגַםand alsoיֵשׁthere isגֹּאֵלredeemerקָרוֹבnearמִמֶּנִּי׃from me

    And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.

13. 13

    לִינִיstayהַלַּיְלָהthe nightוְהָיָהand beבַבֹּקֶרin the morningאִם־יִגְאָלֵךְif he will redeem youטוֹבgoodיִגְאָלlet him redeemוְאִם־לֹאand if notיַחְפֹּץhe wishesלְגׇאֳלֵךְto redeem youוּגְאַלְתִּיךְand I will redeem youאָנֹכִיIחַי־יְהֹוָהas the LORD-livesשִׁכְבִיlieעַד־הַבֹּקֶר׃until the morning

    Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.

14. 14

    וַתִּשְׁכַּבand she layמַרְגְּלוֹתָוat his feetעַד־הַבֹּקֶרuntil the morningוַתָּקׇםand she arose[בְּטֶרֶם]beforeיַכִּירhe will acknowledgeאִישׁa manאֶת־רֵעֵהוּhis neighborוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאַל־יִוָּדַעdo not shall be knownכִּי־בָאָהbecause entered intoהָאִשָּׁהthe womanהַגֹּרֶן׃the threshing floor

    And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.

15. 15

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidהָבִיgiveהַמִּטְפַּחַתthe shawlאֲשֶׁר־עָלַיִךְthat is on youוְאֶחֳזִי־בָהּand hold itוַתֹּאחֶזand she took holdבָּהּin itוַיָּמׇדand he measured outשֵׁשׁ־שְׂעֹרִיםsix of barleyוַיָּשֶׁתand he laidעָלֶיהָupon itוַיָּבֹאand cameהָעִיר׃into the city

    Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.

16. 16

    וַתָּבוֹאand she wentאֶל־חֲמוֹתָהּto her mother in lawוַתֹּאמֶרand saidמִי־אַתְּwho are youבִּתִּיmy daughterוַתַּגֶּד־לָהּand she told herאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall thatעָשָׂה־לָהּdid to herהָאִישׁ׃the man

    And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.

17. 17

    וַתֹּאמֶרand saidשֵׁשׁ־הַשְּׂעֹרִיםsix of the barleyהָאֵלֶּהtheseנָתַןhe gaveלִיto meכִּיforאָמַרsaid[אֵלַי]unto meאַל־תָּבוֹאִיdo not goרֵיקָםempty handedאֶל־חֲמוֹתֵךְ׃to your mother in law

    And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.

18. 18

    וַתֹּאמֶרand saidשְׁבִיwaitבִתִּיmy daughterעַדuntilאֲשֶׁרwhichתֵּדְעִיןyou will knowאֵיךְhowיִפֹּלshall fallדָּבָרthe matterכִּיforלֹאnotיִשְׁקֹטwill be at peaceהָאִישׁthe manכִּי־אִם־כִּלָּהbecause unless he has finishedהַדָּבָרthe thingהַיּוֹם׃the day

    Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
