Ruth 2 רוּת פרק ב׳

1. 1

   וּלְנׇעֳמִיand to Naomi[מוֹדָע]a relativeלְאִישָׁהּto her husbandאִישׁa manגִּבּוֹרmightyחַיִלof wealthמִמִּשְׁפַּחַתof the family ofאֱלִימֶלֶךְElimelechוּשְׁמוֹand his nameבֹּעַז׃Boaz

   And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.

2. 2

   וַתֹּאמֶרand saidרוּתRuthהַמּוֹאֲבִיָּהthe Moabite womanאֶל־נׇעֳמִיto Naomiאֵלְכָה־נָּאI will go nowהַשָּׂדֶהto the fieldוַאֲלַקֳּטָהso I may gleanבַשִּׁבֳּלִיםin the ears of grainאַחַרafterאֲשֶׁרwhichאֶמְצָא־חֵןI might find favorבְּעֵינָיוin his eyesוַתֹּאמֶרand saidלָהּto herלְכִיgoבִתִּי׃my daughter

   And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.

   וַתֵּלֶךְand she wentוַתָּבוֹאand she cameוַתְּלַקֵּטand she gleanedבַּשָּׂדֶהin the fieldאַחֲרֵיafterהַקֹּצְרִיםthe harvestersוַיִּקֶרand it chanced onמִקְרֶהָher chanceחֶלְקַתa part ofהַשָּׂדֶהthe fieldלְבֹעַזof Boazאֲשֶׁרwhichמִמִּשְׁפַּחַתof the family ofאֱלִימֶלֶךְ׃Elimelech

   And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.

   וְהִנֵּה־בֹעַזand behold Boazבָּאcameמִבֵּיתfrom Beth-לֶחֶםlehemוַיֹּאמֶרand saidלַקּוֹצְרִיםto the harvestersיְהֹוָהthe LORDעִמָּכֶםwith youוַיֹּאמְרוּand they saidלוֹto himיְבָרֶכְךָmay bless youיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

   And, behold, Boaz came from Beth-lehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidבֹּעַזBoazלְנַעֲרוֹto his servantהַנִּצָּבthe one set overעַל־הַקּוֹצְרִיםupon the harvestersלְמִיto whomהַנַּעֲרָהthe young womanהַזֹּאת׃this

   Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?

6. 6

   וַיַּעַןand he answeredהַנַּעַרthe young manהַנִּצָּבthe one set overעַל־הַקּוֹצְרִיםupon the harvestersוַיֹּאמַרand saidנַעֲרָהa young womanמוֹאֲבִיָּהMoabiteהִיאsheהַשָּׁבָהwho returnedעִם־נׇעֳמִיwith Naomiמִשְּׂדֵיfrom the region ofמוֹאָב׃Moab

   And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:

   וַתֹּאמֶרand saidאֲלַקֳּטָה־נָּאI may glean nowוְאָסַפְתִּיand I will gatherבׇעֳמָרִיםamong the sheavesאַחֲרֵיafterהַקּוֹצְרִיםthe harvestersוַתָּבוֹאand she wentוַתַּעֲמוֹדand she has continuedמֵאָזsinceהַבֹּקֶרthe morningוְעַד־עַתָּהand unto nowזֶהthisשִׁבְתָּהּher sittingהַבַּיִתin the houseמְעָט׃a little

   And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.

8. 8

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidבֹּעַזBoazאֶל־רוּתto Ruthהֲלוֹאis it notשָׁמַעַתְּhave you heardבִּתִּיmy daughterאַל־תֵּלְכִיdo not goלִלְקֹטto gleanבְּשָׂדֶהin a fieldאַחֵרotherוְגַםand alsoלֹאnotתַעֲבוּרִיyou shall pass onמִזֶּהfrom hereוְכֹהand thusתִדְבָּקִיןyou shall abideעִם־נַעֲרֹתָי׃with my female servants

   Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:

   עֵינַיִךְyour eyesבַּשָּׂדֶהin the fieldאֲשֶׁר־יִקְצֹרוּןthat they are harvestingוְהָלַכְתְּand you will goאַחֲרֵיהֶןafter themהֲלוֹאis it notצִוִּיתִיhave I commandedאֶת־הַנְּעָרִיםthe young menלְבִלְתִּיto notנׇגְעֵךְto touch youוְצָמִתand you will be thirstyוְהָלַכְתְּand you will goאֶל־הַכֵּלִיםto the vesselsוְשָׁתִיתand you will drinkמֵאֲשֶׁרthan thatיִשְׁאֲבוּןthey will drawהַנְּעָרִים׃the young men

   Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.

    וַתִּפֹּלand she fellעַל־פָּנֶיהָupon her faceוַתִּשְׁתַּחוּand she bowed downאָרְצָהto the earthוַתֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלָיוto himמַדּוּעַwhyמָצָאתִיI foundחֵןfavorבְּעֵינֶיךָin your eyesלְהַכִּירֵנִיto pay regard to meוְאָנֹכִיyet Iנׇכְרִיָּה׃foreign

    Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?

11. 11

    וַיַּעַןand he answeredבֹּעַזBoazוַיֹּאמֶרand saidלָהּto herהֻגֵּדfullyהֻגַּדit was declaredלִיto meכֹּלallאֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂיתthat you have doneאֶת־חֲמוֹתֵךְyour mother in lawאַחֲרֵיafterמוֹתthe death ofאִישֵׁךְyour husbandוַתַּעַזְבִיand you leftאָבִיךְyour fatherוְאִמֵּךְand your motherוְאֶרֶץand land ofמוֹלַדְתֵּךְyour kindredוַתֵּלְכִיand you wentאֶל־עַםunto the people ofאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יָדַעַתְּnot you knewתְּמוֹלyesterdayשִׁלְשׁוֹם׃three days ago

    And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.

12. 12

    יְשַׁלֵּםwill completeיְהֹוָהthe LORDפׇּעֳלֵךְyour workוּתְהִיand may beמַשְׂכֻּרְתֵּךְyour wagesשְׁלֵמָהcompleteמֵעִםfromיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelאֲשֶׁר־בָּאתthat you have comeלַחֲסוֹתto take refugeתַּחַת־כְּנָפָיו׃under his wings

    The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.

13. 13

    וַתֹּאמֶרand saidאֶמְצָא־חֵןI might find favorבְּעֵינֶיךָin your eyesאֲדֹנִיmy lordכִּיforנִחַמְתָּנִיyou have comforted meוְכִיand thatדִבַּרְתָּyou have spokenעַל־לֵבto the heart ofשִׁפְחָתֶךָyour maidservantוְאָנֹכִיyet IלֹאnotאֶהְיֶהI may beכְּאַחַתas oneשִׁפְחֹתֶיךָ׃your maidservants

    Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.

14. 14

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidלָהֿto herבֹעַזBoazלְעֵתat time ofהָאֹכֶלthe foodגֹּשִׁיapproachהֲלֹםhereוְאָכַלְתְּand you will eatמִן־הַלֶּחֶםfrom the breadוְטָבַלְתְּand you will dipפִּתֵּךְyour portionבַּחֹמֶץin the vinegarוַתֵּשֶׁבand she satמִצַּדbesideהַקֹּצְרִיםthe harvestersוַיִּצְבׇּט־לָהּand he reached to herקָלִיroasted grainוַתֹּאכַלand she ateוַתִּשְׂבַּעand she was satisfiedוַתֹּתַר׃and she left over

    And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.

15. 15

    וַתָּקׇםand she aroseלְלַקֵּטto gleanוַיְצַוand commandedבֹּעַזBoazאֶת־נְעָרָיוhis servantsלֵאמֹרsayingגַּםalsoבֵּיןamongהׇעֳמָרִיםthe sheavesתְּלַקֵּטshe will gleanוְלֹאand notתַכְלִימוּהָ׃you shall humiliate her

    And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:

16. 16

    וְגַםand alsoשֹׁל־תָּשֹׁלּוּindeed you will pull outלָהּto herמִן־הַצְּבָתִיםfrom the bundles of grainוַעֲזַבְתֶּםand you will leave themוְלִקְּטָהand she will gleanוְלֹאand notתִגְעֲרוּ־בָהּ׃you shall rebuke in her

    And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.

17. 17

    וַתְּלַקֵּטand she gleanedבַּשָּׂדֶהin the fieldעַד־הָעָרֶבuntil the eveningוַתַּחְבֹּטand she beat outאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־לִקֵּטָהthat she gleanedוַיְהִיand it came to passכְּאֵיפָהabout an ephahשְׂעֹרִים׃barley

    So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.

18. 18

    וַתִּשָּׂאand she carriedוַתָּבוֹאand she cameהָעִירinto the cityוַתֵּרֶאand sawחֲמוֹתָהּher mother in lawאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־לִקֵּטָהthat she gleanedוַתּוֹצֵאand brought forthוַתִּתֶּן־לָהּand she gave itאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־הוֹתִרָהthat she had left overמִשׇּׂבְעָהּ׃from her satisfaction

    And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.

19. 19

    וַתֹּאמֶרand saidלָהּto herחֲמוֹתָהּher mother in lawאֵיפֹהwhereלִקַּטְתְּdid you gleanהַיּוֹםthe dayוְאָנָהand whereעָשִׂיתhave you wroughtיְהִיlet this beמַכִּירֵךְthe one who paid regard to youבָּרוּךְblessedוַתַּגֵּדand declaredלַחֲמוֹתָהּher mother in lawאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־עָשְׂתָהthat she had wroughtעִמּוֹwith himוַתֹּאמֶרand saidשֵׁםthe name ofהָאִישׁthe manאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשִׂיתִיI workedעִמּוֹwith himהַיּוֹםthe dayבֹּעַז׃Boaz

    And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz.

20. 20

    וַתֹּאמֶרand saidנׇעֳמִיNaomiלְכַלָּתָהּto her daughter in lawבָּרוּךְblessedהוּאheלַיהֹוָהto the LORDאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־עָזַבnot leftחַסְדּוֹHis lovingkindnessאֶת־הַחַיִּיםthe livingוְאֶת־הַמֵּתִיםand the deadוַתֹּאמֶרand saidלָהּto herנׇעֳמִיNaomiקָרוֹבnearלָנוּto usהָאִישׁthe manמִגֹּאֲלֵנוּof our kinsman redeemersהוּא׃he

    And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.

21. 21

    וַתֹּאמֶרand saidרוּתRuthהַמּוֹאֲבִיָּהthe Moabite womanגַּםalsoכִּי־אָמַרthat saidאֵלַיto meעִם־הַנְּעָרִיםwith the young menאֲשֶׁר־לִיthat to meתִּדְבָּקִיןyou will stayעַדuntilאִם־כִּלּוּthey have endedאֵת־כׇּל־הַקָּצִירall the harvestאֲשֶׁר־לִי׃that to me

    And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.

22. 22

    וַתֹּאמֶרand saidנׇעֳמִיNaomiאֶל־רוּתto Ruthכַּלָּתָהּher daughter in lawטוֹבgoodבִּתִּיmy daughterכִּיthatתֵצְאִיyou will go outעִם־נַעֲרוֹתָיוwith his female servantsוְלֹאand notיִפְגְּעוּ־בָךְthey meet youבְּשָׂדֶהin a fieldאַחֵר׃other

    And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.

23. 23

    וַתִּדְבַּקand she kept fastבְּנַעֲרוֹתwith the female servants ofבֹּעַזBoazלְלַקֵּטto gleanעַד־כְּלוֹתunto the end ofקְצִיר־הַשְּׂעֹרִיםthe harvest of the barleyוּקְצִירand the harvest ofהַחִטִּיםthe wheatוַתֵּשֶׁבand she dweltאֶת־חֲמוֹתָהּ׃her mother in law

    So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.
