   וּבֹעַזu/VO/azand Boazעָלָהa/LAwent upהַשַּׁעַרhash/SHA/arto the gateוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand sat downשָׁםshamthereוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהַגֹּאֵלhag/go/ELthe kinsman redeemerעֹבֵרo/VERpassing byאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whomדִּבֶּר־בֹּעַזDib/BER-BO/azBoaz had spokenוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidסוּרָהsu/RAturn asideשְׁבָה־פֹּהshe/VA-posit down hereפְּלֹנִיpe/lo/NIsuch a oneאַלְמֹנִיal/mo/NIso and soוַיָּסַרvay/YA/sarand he turned asideוַיֵּשֵׁב׃vay/ye/SHEVand he sat down

   Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.

2. 2

   וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookעֲשָׂרָהa/sa/RAtenאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenמִזִּקְנֵיmiz/zik/NEof the elders ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁבוּ־פֹהshe/VU-fosit down hereוַיֵּשֵׁבוּ׃vay/ye/SHE/vuand they sat down

   And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.

3. 3

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלַגֹּאֵלlag/go/ELto the kinsman redeemerחֶלְקַתchel/KATthe parcel ofהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wasלְאָחִינוּle/a/CHI/nuof our brotherלֶאֱלִימֶלֶךְLe/e/li/ME/lekhElimelech'sמָכְרָהma/khe/RAsellsנׇעֳמִיNo/o/MINaomiהַשָּׁבָהhash/SHA/vawho has come backמִשְּׂדֵהmis/se/DEfrom the country ofמוֹאָב׃Mo/AVMoab

   And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:

4. 4

   וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI thoughtאֶגְלֶהeg/LEI would uncoverאׇזְנְךָoz/ne/KHAyour earלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingקְנֵהke/NEbuyנֶגֶדNE/gedbeforeהַיֹּשְׁבִיםhay/yosh/VIMthe inhabitantsוְנֶגֶדve/NE/gedand beforeזִקְנֵיzik/NEthe elders ofעַמִּיam/MImy peopleאִם־תִּגְאַלim-tig/ALif you will redeemגְּאָלge/ALredeemוְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notיִגְאַלyig/ALhe will redeemהַגִּידָהhag/GI/datellלִּיlime(ואדע)vd[וְאֵדְעָה]ve/ed/Athat I may knowכִּיkiforאֵיןenthere is noזוּלָתְךָzu/la/te/KHAbeside youלִגְאוֹלlig/OLto redeemוְאָנֹכִיve/a/no/KHIand Iאַחֲרֶיךָa/cha/RE/khaafter youוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאֶגְאָל׃eg/ALI will redeem

   And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבֹּעַזBO/azBoazבְּיוֹם־קְנוֹתְךָbe/YOM-ke/not/KHAon the day you buyהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofנׇעֳמִיNo/o/MINaomiוּמֵאֵתu/me/ETand fromרוּתRutRuthהַמּוֹאֲבִיָּהham/Mo/a/viy/YAthe Moabitessאֵשֶׁת־הַמֵּתE/shet-ham/METthe wife of the dead(קניתי)kanayatay[קָנִיתָ]ka/NI/tayou buyלְהָקִיםle/ha/KIMto raise upשֵׁם־הַמֵּתshem-ham/METthe name of the deadעַל־נַחֲלָתוֹ׃al-na/cha/la/TOupon his inheritance

   Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַגֹּאֵלhag/go/ELthe kinsman redeemerלֹאlonotאוּכַלu/KHALI can(לגאול)lagval[לִגְאׇל־]לִיlig/OL-lito redeem for myselfפֶּן־אַשְׁחִיתpen-ash/CHITlest I marאֶת־נַחֲלָתִיet-na/cha/la/TImy inheritanceגְּאַל־לְךָge/AL-le/KHAredeem for yourselfאַתָּהat/TAyouאֶת־גְּאֻלָּתִיet-ge/ul/la/TImy right of redemptionכִּיkiforלֹא־אוּכַלlo-u/KHALI cannotלִגְאֹל׃lig/OLto redeem

   And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.

   וְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisלְפָנִיםle/fa/NIMformerlyבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELin Israelעַל־הַגְּאֻלָּהal-hag/ge/ul/LAconcerning redeemingוְעַל־הַתְּמוּרָהve/AL-hat/te/mu/RAand concerning exchangingלְקַיֵּםle/kay/YEMto confirmכׇּל־דָּבָרkol-da/VARevery matterשָׁלַףsha/LAFdrew offאִישׁisha manנַעֲלוֹna/a/LOhis sandalוְנָתַןve/na/TANand gave itלְרֵעֵהוּle/re/E/huto his neighborוְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisהַתְּעוּדָהhat/te/u/DAthe testimonyבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃be/Yis/ra/ELin Israel

   Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.

8. 8

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַגֹּאֵלhag/go/ELthe kinsman redeemerלְבֹעַזle/VO/azto Boazקְנֵה־לָךְke/NE-lakhbuy it for yourselfוַיִּשְׁלֹףvay/yish/LOFand he drew offנַעֲלוֹ׃na/a/LOhis sandal

   Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבֹּעַזBO/azBoazלַזְּקֵנִיםlaz/ze/ke/NIMto the eldersוְכׇל־הָעָםve/KHOL-ha/AMand all the peopleעֵדִיםe/DIMwitnessesאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayכִּיkithatקָנִיתִיka/NI/tiI have boughtאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall that wasלֶאֱלִימֶלֶךְLe/e/li/ME/lekhElimelech'sוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERall thatלְכִלְיוֹןLe/khil/YONChilion'sוּמַחְלוֹןu/Mach/LONand Mahlonמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofנׇעֳמִי׃No/o/MINaomi

   And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoאֶת־רוּתet-RutRuthהַמֹּאֲבִיָּהham/Mo/a/viy/YAthe MoabitessאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofמַחְלוֹןMach/LONMahlonקָנִיתִיka/NI/tiI have boughtלִיlifor myselfלְאִשָּׁהle/ish/SHAfor a wifeלְהָקִיםle/ha/KIMto raise upשֵׁם־הַמֵּתshem-ham/METthe name of the deadעַל־נַחֲלָתוֹal-na/cha/la/TOupon his inheritanceוְלֹא־יִכָּרֵתve/LO-yik/ka/RETand shall not be cut offשֵׁם־הַמֵּתshem-ham/METthe name of the deadמֵעִםme/IMfromאֶחָיוe/CHAYVhis brethrenוּמִשַּׁעַרu/mish/SHA/arand from the gate ofמְקוֹמוֹme/ko/MOhis placeעֵדִיםe/DIMwitnessesאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areהַיּוֹם׃hay/YOMtoday

    Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidכׇּל־הָעָםkol-ha/AMall the peopleאֲשֶׁר־בַּשַּׁעַרa/SHER-bash/SHA/arwho were at the gateוְהַזְּקֵנִיםve/haz/ze/ke/NIMand the eldersעֵדִיםe/DIMwitnessesיִתֵּןyit/TENmay makeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־הָאִשָּׁהet-ha/ish/SHAthe womanהַבָּאָהhab/BA/athat is comingאֶל־בֵּיתֶךָel-be/TE/khainto your houseכְּרָחֵלke/Ra/CHELlike Rachelוּכְלֵאָהu/Khe/le/Aand like Leahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבָּנוּBA/nubuiltשְׁתֵּיהֶםshte/HEMboth of themאֶת־בֵּיתet-betthe house ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַעֲשֵׂה־חַיִלva/a/SE-CHA/yiland do worthilyבְּאֶפְרָתָהbe/Ef/RA/tain Ephratahוּקְרָא־שֵׁםu/ke/RA-shemand proclaim a nameבְּבֵיתbe/VETin Beth-לָחֶם׃LA/chemlehem

    And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Beth-lehem:

12. 12

    וִיהִיvi/HIand let beבֵיתְךָve/te/KHAyour houseכְּבֵיתke/VETlike the house ofפֶּרֶץPE/retsPerezאֲשֶׁר־יָלְדָהa/SHER-ya/le/DAwhom boreתָמָרTa/MARTamarלִיהוּדָהlI/hu/DAto Judahמִן־הַזֶּרַעmin-haz/ZE/raof the seedאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיִתֵּןyit/TENshall giveיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְךָle/KHAyouמִן־הַנַּעֲרָהmin-han/na/a/RAof the young womanהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

    And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.

13. 13

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookבֹּעַזBO/azBoazאֶת־רוּתet-RutRuthוַתְּהִי־לוֹvat/te/HI-loand she became hisלְאִשָּׁהle/ish/SHAwifeוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he went inאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלָהּlaherהֵרָיוֹןhe/ra/YONconceptionוַתֵּלֶדvat/TE/ledand she boreבֵּן׃bena son

    So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.

14. 14

    וַתֹּאמַרְנָהvat/to/MAR/naand they saidהַנָּשִׁיםhan/na/SHIMthe womenאֶל־נׇעֳמִיel-No/o/MIto Naomiבָּרוּךְba/RUKHblessed beיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹאlonotהִשְׁבִּיתhish/BIThas leftלָךְlakhyouגֹּאֵלgo/ELa redeemerהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayוְיִקָּרֵאve/yik/ka/REand may be calledשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃be/Yis/ra/ELin Israel

    And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.

15. 15

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand he shall beלָךְlakhto youלְמֵשִׁיבle/me/SHIVa restorer ofנֶפֶשׁNE/feshlifeוּלְכַלְכֵּלu/le/khal/KELand to sustainאֶת־שֵׂיבָתֵךְet-se/va/TEKHyour old ageכִּיkiforכַלָּתֵךְkhal/la/TEKHyour daughter in lawאֲשֶׁר־אֲהֵבַתֶךְa/SHER-a/he/VA/tekhwho loves youיְלָדַתּוּye/la/DAT/tuhas borne himאֲשֶׁר־הִיאa/SHER-hiwho isטוֹבָהto/VAbetterלָךְlakhto youמִשִּׁבְעָהmish/shiv/Athan sevenבָּנִים׃ba/NIMsons

    And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.

16. 16

    וַתִּקַּחvat/tik/KACHand tookנׇעֳמִיNo/o/MINaomiאֶת־הַיֶּלֶדet-hay/YE/ledthe childוַתְּשִׁתֵהוּvat/te/shi/TE/huand laid himבְחֵיקָהּve/che/KAin her bosomוַתְּהִי־לוֹvat/te/HI-loand became to himלְאֹמֶנֶת׃le/o/ME/neta nurse

    And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.

17. 17

    וַתִּקְרֶאנָהvat/tik/RE/naand they calledלוֹloto himהַשְּׁכֵנוֹתhash/she/khe/NOTthe women neighborsשֵׁםshema nameלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיֻלַּד־בֵּןyul/LAD-bena son is bornלְנׇעֳמִיle/No/o/MIto Naomiוַתִּקְרֶאנָהvat/tik/RE/naand they calledשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameעוֹבֵדO/VEDObedהוּאhuhe isאֲבִי־יִשַׁיa/VI-Yi/SHAYfather of Jesseאֲבִיa/VIthe father ofדָוִד׃Da/VIDDavid

    And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

18. 18

    וְאֵלֶּהve/EL/leand theseתּוֹלְדוֹתtol/DOTthe generations ofפָּרֶץPA/retsPerezפֶּרֶץPE/retsPerezהוֹלִידho/LIDbegotאֶת־חֶצְרוֹן׃et-Chets/RONHezron

    Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,

19. 19

    וְחֶצְרוֹןve/Chets/RONand Hezronהוֹלִידho/LIDbegotאֶת־רָםet-RamRamוְרָםve/RAMand Ramהוֹלִידho/LIDbegotאֶת־עַמִּינָדָב׃et-Am/mi/na/DAVAmminadab

    And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,

20. 20

    וְעַמִּינָדָבve/Am/mi/na/DAVand Amminadabהוֹלִידho/LIDbegotאֶת־נַחְשׁוֹןet-Nach/SHONNahshonוְנַחְשׁוֹןve/Nach/SHONand Nahshonהוֹלִידho/LIDbegotאֶת־שַׂלְמָה׃et-Sal/MASalmon

    And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

21. 21

    וְשַׂלְמוֹןve/Sal/MONand Salmonהוֹלִידho/LIDbegotאֶת־בֹּעַזet-BO/azBoazוּבֹעַזu/VO/azand Boazהוֹלִידho/LIDbegotאֶת־עוֹבֵד׃et-O/VEDObed

    And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

22. 22

    וְעֹבֵדve/O/VEDand Obedהוֹלִידho/LIDbegotאֶת־יִשָׁיet-Yi/SHAYJesseוְיִשַׁיve/Yi/SHAYand Jesseהוֹלִידho/LIDbegotאֶת־דָּוִד׃et-Da/VIDDavid

    And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
