   אֵל־נְקָמוֹתO God of vengeanceיְהֹוָהO LORDאֵלO God ofנְקָמוֹתvengeanceהוֹפִיעַ׃shine forth

   O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.

   הִנָּשֵׂאlift Yourself upשֹׁפֵטO judge ofהָאָרֶץthe earthהָשֵׁבrenderגְּמוּלa rewardעַל־גֵּאִים׃to the proud

   Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.

   עַד־מָתַיuntil whenרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedיְהֹוָהO LORDעַד־מָתַיuntil whenרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedיַעֲלֹזוּ׃shall they triumph

   LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?

   יַבִּיעוּthey prateיְדַבְּרוּthey speakעָתָקarrogantlyיִתְאַמְּרוּboast themselvesכׇּל־פֹּעֲלֵיall workers ofאָוֶן׃iniquity

   How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

   עַמְּךָYour peopleיְהֹוָהO LORDיְדַכְּאוּthey crushוְנַחֲלָתְךָand Your heritageיְעַנּוּ׃they afflict

   They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.

6. 6

   אַלְמָנָהthe widowוְגֵרand the strangerיַהֲרֹגוּthey killוִיתוֹמִיםand the fatherlessיְרַצֵּחוּ׃they murder

   They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.

7. 7

   וַיֹּאמְרוּand they saidלֹאnotיִרְאֶה־יָּהּshall the LORD seeוְלֹא־יָבִיןnor shall regard itאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיַעֲקֹב׃Jacob

   Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.

   בִּינוּunderstandבֹּעֲרִיםyou brutishבָּעָםamong the peopleוּכְסִילִיםand foolsמָתַיwhenתַּשְׂכִּילוּ׃will you be wise

   Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?

9. 9

   הֲנֹטַעhe that plantedאֹזֶןthe earהֲלֹאis it notיִשְׁמָעshall He hearאִם־יֹצֵרor He who formedעַיִןthe eyeהֲלֹאis it notיַבִּיט׃shall He see

   He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?

    הֲיֹסֵרHe who chastisesגּוֹיִםthe nationsהֲלֹאis it notיוֹכִיחַshall He not correctהַמְלַמֵּדHe who teachesאָדָםmanדָּעַת׃knowledge

    He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?

    יְהֹוָהthe LORDיֹדֵעַknowsמַחְשְׁבוֹתthe thoughts ofאָדָםmanכִּי־הֵמָּהthat they areהָבֶל׃vanity

    The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

12. 12

    אַשְׁרֵיblessed areהַגֶּבֶרis the manאֲשֶׁר־תְּיַסְּרֶנּוּwhom You chastenיָּהּO LORDוּמִתּוֹרָתְךָand out of Your lawתְלַמְּדֶנּוּ׃You teach him

    Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;

13. 13

    לְהַשְׁקִיטthat You may give restלוֹto himמִימֵיfrom the days ofרָעadversityעַדuntilיִכָּרֶהis dugלָרָשָׁעfor the wickedשָׁחַת׃the pit

    That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.

14. 14

    כִּיforלֹא־יִטֹּשׁwill not cast offיְהֹוָהthe LORDעַמּוֹHis peopleוְנַחֲלָתוֹand His inheritanceלֹאnotיַעֲזֹב׃will He forsake

    For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

15. 15

    כִּי־עַד־צֶדֶקfor to righteousnessיָשׁוּבshall returnמִשְׁפָּטjudgmentוְאַחֲרָיוand after itכׇּל־יִשְׁרֵי־לֵב׃all the upright in heart

    But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

16. 16

    מִי־יָקוּםwho will rise upלִיfor meעִם־מְרֵעִיםwith evildoersמִי־יִתְיַצֵּבwho will stand upלִיfor meעִם־פֹּעֲלֵיwith workers ofאָוֶן׃iniquity

    Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

17. 17

    לוּלֵיunlessיְהֹוָהthe LORDעֶזְרָתָהhad been my helpלִּיto meכִּמְעַטalmostשָׁכְנָהhad dweltדוּמָהin silenceנַפְשִׁי׃my soul

    Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

18. 18

    אִם־אָמַרְתִּיwhen I saidמָטָהslipsרַגְלִיmy footחַסְדְּךָYour mercyיְהֹוָהO LORDיִסְעָדֵנִי׃held me up

    When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.

19. 19

    בְּרֹבin the multitude ofשַׂרְעַפַּיmy disquieting thoughtsבְּקִרְבִּיwithin meתַּנְחוּמֶיךָYour comfortsיְשַׁעַשְׁעוּdelightנַפְשִׁי׃my soul

    In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

20. 20

    הַיְחׇבְרְךָshall have fellowship with Youכִּסֵּאthe throne ofהַוּוֹתiniquityיֹצֵרwhich framesעָמָלmischiefעֲלֵי־חֹק׃by a statute

    Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?

21. 21

    יָגוֹדּוּthey band togetherעַל־נֶפֶשׁagainst the soul ofצַדִּיקthe righteousוְדָםand bloodנָקִיinnocentיַרְשִׁיעוּ׃they condemn

    They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

22. 22

    וַיְהִיbut has beenיְהֹוָהthe LORDלִיto meלְמִשְׂגָּבmy defenseוֵאלֹהַיand my Godלְצוּרthe rock ofמַחְסִי׃my refuge

    But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.

23. 23

    וַיָּשֶׁבand He shall bringעֲלֵיהֶםupon themאֶת־אוֹנָםtheir iniquityוּבְרָעָתָםand in their own wickednessיַצְמִיתֵםHe shall cut them offיַצְמִיתֵםshall cut them offיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּ׃our God

    And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.
