שִׁירa songמִזְמוֹרa psalmלְאָסָף׃of Asaph
A Song or Psalm of Asaph.

אֱלֹהִיםO Godאַל־דֳּמִי־לָךְkeep not silenceאַל־תֶּחֱרַשׁhold not Your peaceוְאַל־תִּשְׁקֹטand be not stillאֵל׃O God
Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

כִּי־הִנֵּהbecause beholdאוֹיְבֶיךָYour enemiesיֶהֱמָיוּןmake a tumultוּמְשַׂנְאֶיךָand those who hate Youנָשְׂאוּhave lifted upרֹאשׁ׃the head
For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

עַל־עַמְּךָagainst Your peopleיַעֲרִימוּthey take craftyסוֹדcounselוְיִתְיָעֲצוּand consult togetherעַל־צְפוּנֶיךָ׃against Your hidden ones
They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

אָמְרוּthey saidלְכוּcomeוְנַכְחִידֵםand let us cut them offמִגּוֹיfrom being a nationוְלֹא־יִזָּכֵרthat may be no more in remembranceשֵׁם־יִשְׂרָאֵלthe name of Israelעוֹד׃any more
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

כִּיforנוֹעֲצוּthey have consultedלֵבwith one heartיַחְדָּוtogetherעָלֶיךָagainst Youבְּרִיתa covenantיִכְרֹתוּ׃they make
For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:

אׇהֳלֵיthe tents ofאֱדוֹםEdomוְיִשְׁמְעֵאלִיםand IshmaelitesמוֹאָבMoabוְהַגְרִים׃and the Hagarenes
The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;

גְּבָלGebalוְעַמּוֹןand Ammonוַעֲמָלֵקand AmalekפְּלֶשֶׁתPhilistiaעִם־יֹשְׁבֵיwith the inhabitants ofצוֹר׃Tyre
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;

גַּם־אַשּׁוּרalso Assyriaנִלְוָהis joinedעִמָּםwith themהָיוּ־זְרוֹעַthey have been an arm toלִבְנֵי־לוֹטunto the sons of Lotסֶלָה׃Selah
Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.

עֲשֵׂה־לָהֶםdo to themכְּמִדְיָןlike Midianכְּסִיסְרָאlike Siseraכְיָבִיןlike Jabinבְּנַחַלat the brook ofקִישׁוֹן׃Kishon
Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:

נִשְׁמְדוּwho were destroyedבְעֵין־דֹּארat En-Dorהָיוּthey becameדֹמֶןdungלָאֲדָמָה׃for the ground
Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.

שִׁיתֵמוֹmake themנְדִיבֵימוֹtheir noblesכְּעֹרֵבlike Orebוְכִזְאֵבand like Zeebוּכְזֶבַחand like Zebahוּכְצַלְמֻנָּעand like Zalmunnaכׇּל־נְסִיכֵימוֹ׃all their princes
Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:

אֲשֶׁרwhichאָמְרוּthey saidנִירְשָׁהlet us take possession ofלָּנוּfor ourselvesאֵת־נְאוֹתthe habitations ofאֱלֹהִים׃God
Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.

אֱלֹהַיO my Godשִׁיתֵמוֹmake themכַגַּלְגַּלlike the whirling dustכְּקַשׁas stubbleלִפְנֵי־רוּחַ׃before the wind
O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.

כְּאֵשׁas the fireתִּבְעַר־יָעַרburns a forestוּכְלֶהָבָהand like a flameתְּלַהֵטsets ablazeהָרִים׃the mountains
As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
- 16
כֵּןthusתִּרְדְּפֵםpursue themבְּסַעֲרֶךָwith Your tempestוּבְסוּפָתְךָand with Your stormתְבַהֲלֵם׃make them afraid
So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.

מַלֵּאfillפְנֵיהֶםtheir facesקָלוֹןwith shameוִיבַקְשׁוּthat they may seekשִׁמְךָYour nameיְהֹוָה׃O LORD
Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.

יֵבֹשׁוּlet be ashamedוְיִבָּהֲלוּand dismayedעֲדֵי־עַדfor everוְיַחְפְּרוּand put to confusionוְיֹאבֵדוּ׃and perish
Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:

וְיֵדְעוּthat men may knowכִּי־אַתָּהthat YouשִׁמְךָYour nameיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְבַדֶּךָaloneעֶלְיוֹןart the Most Highעַל־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץ׃over all the earth
That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
