Psalms 81 תְּהִלִּים פרק פ״א

   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianעַל־הַגִּתִּיתupon the Gittithלְאָסָף׃of Asaph

   To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of Asaph.

2. 2

   הַרְנִינוּsing aloudלֵאלֹהִיםto Godעוּזֵּנוּour strengthהָרִיעוּmake a joyful noiseלֵאלֹהֵיto the God ofיַעֲקֹב׃Jacob

   Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

   שְׂאוּ־זִמְרָהtake up a melodyוּתְנוּ־תֹףand strike the timbrelכִּנּוֹרthe lyreנָעִיםpleasantעִם־נָבֶל׃with the harp

   Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

   תִּקְעוּblowבַחֹדֶשׁat the new moonשׁוֹפָרthe shofarבַּכֵּסֶהat the full moonלְיוֹםon the day ofחַגֵּנוּ׃our feast

   Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

   כִּיbecauseחֹקa statuteלְיִשְׂרָאֵלfor Israelהוּאthis isמִשְׁפָּטan ordinance ofלֵאלֹהֵיthe God ofיַעֲקֹב׃Jacob

   For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.

   עֵדוּתa testimonyבִּיהוֹסֵףin JosephשָׂמוֹHe ordained itבְּצֵאתוֹwhen He went outעַל־אֶרֶץagainst the land ofמִצְרָיִםEgyptשְׂפַתa languageלֹא־יָדַעְתִּיI knew notאֶשְׁמָע׃did I hear

   This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

   הֲסִירוֹתִיI removedמִסֵּבֶלfrom a burdenשִׁכְמוֹhis shoulderכַּפָּיוhis handsמִדּוּדfrom the basketתַּעֲבֹרְנָה׃were freed

   I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.

   בַּצָּרָהin troubleקָרָאתָyou calledוָאֲחַלְּצֶךָּand I delivered youאֶעֶנְךָI answered youבְּסֵתֶרin the cover ofרַעַםthunderאֶבְחׇנְךָI tested youעַל־מֵיat the waters ofמְרִיבָהMeribahסֶלָה׃Selah

   Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

   שְׁמַעhearעַמִּיO My peopleוְאָעִידָהand I will testifyבָּךְto youיִשְׂרָאֵלO Israelאִם־תִּשְׁמַע־לִי׃if you will hearken to Me

   Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;

    לֹא־יִהְיֶהthere shall not beבְךָamong youאֵלa godזָרstrangeוְלֹאand notתִשְׁתַּחֲוֶהshall you bow downלְאֵלto a godנֵכָר׃foreign

    There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.

11. 11

    אָנֹכִיI amיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godהַמַּעַלְךָwho brought you upמֵאֶרֶץfrom the land ofמִצְרָיִםEgyptהַרְחֶב־פִּיךָopen wide your mouthוַאֲמַלְאֵהוּ׃and I will fill it

    I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

12. 12

    וְלֹא־שָׁמַעbut did not hearkenעַמִּיMy peopleלְקוֹלִיto My voiceוְיִשְׂרָאֵלand Israelלֹא־אָבָהwould have none ofלִי׃Me

    But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

13. 13

    וָאֲשַׁלְּחֵהוּso I gave them upבִּשְׁרִירוּתin the stubbornness ofלִבָּםtheir heartיֵלְכוּthey walkedבְּמוֹעֲצוֹתֵיהֶם׃in their own counsels

    So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

14. 14

    לוּoh thatעַמִּיMy peopleשֹׁמֵעַhad hearkenedלִיto Meיִשְׂרָאֵלthat Israelבִּדְרָכַיin My waysיְהַלֵּכוּ׃had walked

    Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

15. 15

    כִּמְעַטsoonאוֹיְבֵיהֶםtheir enemiesאַכְנִיעַI would subdueוְעַלand againstצָרֵיהֶםtheir adversariesאָשִׁיבI would turnיָדִי׃My hand

    I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

16. 16

    מְשַׂנְאֵיthe haters ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDיְכַחֲשׁוּ־לוֹwould cringe before Himוִיהִיand would beעִתָּםtheir timeלְעוֹלָם׃forever

    The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.

17. 17

    וַיַּאֲכִילֵהוּand He would feed themמֵחֵלֶבwith the finest ofחִטָּהthe wheatוּמִצּוּרand out of the rockדְּבַשׁwith honeyאַשְׂבִּיעֶךָ׃would I satisfy you

    He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.
