   To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of Asaph.

2. 2

   הַרְנִינוּhar/NI/nusing aloudלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto Godעוּזֵּנוּuz/ZE/nuour strengthהָרִיעוּha/RI/umake a joyful noiseלֵאלֹהֵיle/lo/HEto the God ofיַעֲקֹב׃Ya/a/KOVJacob

   Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

   שְׂאוּ־זִמְרָהse/U-zim/RAtake up a melodyוּתְנוּ־תֹףu/te/NU-tofand sound the tambourineכִּנּוֹרkin/NORthe lyreנָעִיםna/IMpleasantעִם־נָבֶל׃im-NA/velwith the harp

   Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

   תִּקְעוּtik/Ublowבַחֹדֶשׁva/CHO/deshat the new moonשׁוֹפָרsho/FARthe trumpetבַּכֵּסֶהbak/KE/seat the full moonלְיוֹםle/YOMon the day ofחַגֵּנוּ׃chag/GE/nuour feast

   Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

   כִּיkiforחֹקchoka statuteלְיִשְׂרָאֵלle/Yis/ra/ELfor Israelהוּאhuthis isמִשְׁפָּטmish/PATa rule ofלֵאלֹהֵיle/lo/HEthe God ofיַעֲקֹב׃Ya/a/KOVJacob

   For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.

   עֵדוּתe/DUTa testimonyבִּיהוֹסֵףbI/ho/SEFin Josephשָׂמוֹsa/MOHe made itבְּצֵאתוֹbe/tse/TOwhen He went outעַל־אֶרֶץal-E/retsover the land ofמִצְרָיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptשְׂפַתse/FATa languageלֹא־יָדַעְתִּיlo-ya/DA/tiI did not knowאֶשְׁמָע׃esh/MAI heard

   This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

   הֲסִירוֹתִיha/si/RO/tiI removedמִסֵּבֶלmis/SE/velfrom the burdenשִׁכְמוֹshikh/MOhis shoulderכַּפָּיוkap/PAYVhis handsמִדּוּדmid/DUDfrom the basketתַּעֲבֹרְנָה׃ta/a/VOR/nawere freed

   I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.

   בַּצָּרָהbats/tsa/RAin troubleקָרָאתָka/RA/tayou calledוָאֲחַלְּצֶךָּva/a/chal/le/TSEK/kaand I delivered youאֶעֶנְךָe/en/KHAI answered youבְּסֵתֶרbe/SE/terin the cover ofרַעַםRA/amthunderאֶבְחׇנְךָev/chon/KHAI tested youעַל־מֵיal-meat the waters ofמְרִיבָהMe/ri/VAMeribahסֶלָה׃SE/laSelah

   Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

   שְׁמַעshe/MAhearעַמִּיam/MIO My peopleוְאָעִידָהve/a/I/daand I will admonishבָּךְbakhyouיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELO Israelאִם־תִּשְׁמַע־לִי׃im-tish/MA-liif you would listen to Me

   Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;

10. 10

    לֹא־יִהְיֶהlo-yih/YEthere shall not beבְךָve/KHAamong youאֵלela godזָרzarstrangeוְלֹאve/LOand notתִשְׁתַּחֲוֶהtish/ta/cha/VEyou shall bow downלְאֵלle/ELto a godנֵכָר׃ne/KHARforeign

    There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.

11. 11

    אָנֹכִיa/no/KHII amיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godהַמַּעַלְךָham/ma/al/KHAwho brought you upמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the land ofמִצְרָיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptהַרְחֶב־פִּיךָhar/CHEV-PI/khaopen wide your mouthוַאֲמַלְאֵהוּ׃va/a/mal/E/huand I will fill it

    I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

12. 12

    וְלֹא־שָׁמַעve/LO-sha/MAbut did not listenעַמִּיam/MIMy peopleלְקוֹלִיle/ko/LIto My voiceוְיִשְׂרָאֵלve/Yis/ra/ELand Israelלֹא־אָבָהlo-A/vadid not consentלִי׃lito Me

    But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

13. 13

    וָאֲשַׁלְּחֵהוּva/a/shal/le/che/HUso I gave him overבִּשְׁרִירוּתbish/ri/RUTto the stubbornness ofלִבָּםlib/BAMtheir heartיֵלְכוּyel/KHUthey walkedבְּמוֹעֲצוֹתֵיהֶם׃be/mo/a/tso/te/HEMin their own counsels

    So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

14. 14

    לוּluoh thatעַמִּיam/MIMy peopleשֹׁמֵעַsho/ME/awould listenלִיlito MeיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELthat Israelבִּדְרָכַיbid/ra/KHAYin My waysיְהַלֵּכוּ׃ye/hal/LE/khuwould walk

    Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

15. 15

    כִּמְעַטkim/ATquicklyאוֹיְבֵיהֶםoy/ve/HEMtheir enemiesאַכְנִיעַakh/NI/aI would subdueוְעַלve/ALand againstצָרֵיהֶםtsa/re/HEMtheir adversariesאָשִׁיבa/SHIVI would turnיָדִי׃ya/DIMy hand

    I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

16. 16

    מְשַׂנְאֵיme/san/Ethe haters ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDיְכַחֲשׁוּ־לוֹye/kha/cha/SHU-lowould cringe before Himוִיהִיvi/HIand would beעִתָּםit/TAMtheir timeלְעוֹלָם׃le/o/LAMforever

    The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.

17. 17

    וַיַּאֲכִילֵהוּvay/ya/a/khi/le/HUand He would feed himמֵחֵלֶבme/CHE/levwith the finest ofחִטָּהchit/TAthe wheatוּמִצּוּרu/mits/TSURand out of the rockדְּבַשׁde/VASHwith honeyאַשְׂבִּיעֶךָ׃as/bi/E/khawould I satisfy you

    He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.
