   To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim-eduth, A Psalm of Asaph.

   רֹעֵהRo/EO Shepherd ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהַאֲזִינָהha/a/ZI/nagive earנֹהֵגno/HEGwho leadsכַּצֹּאןkats/TSONlike a flockיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVYou who are enthroned uponהַכְּרוּבִיםhak/ke/ru/VIMthe cherubimהוֹפִיעָה׃ho/FI/ashine forth

   Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.

   לִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimוּבִנְיָמִןu/Vin/ya/MINand Benjaminוּמְנַשֶּׁהu/Me/nash/SHEand Manassehעוֹרְרָהor/RAstir upאֶת־גְּבוּרָתֶךָet-ge/vu/ra/TE/khaYour mightוּלְכָהu/le/KHAand comeלִישֻׁעָתָהli/shu/A/tafor salvationלָּנוּ׃LA/nufor us

   Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us.

   אֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO Godהֲשִׁיבֵנוּha/shi/VE/nurestore usוְהָאֵרve/ha/ERand make shineפָּנֶיךָpa/NE/khaYour faceוְנִוָּשֵׁעָה׃ve/niv/va/SHE/aand we shall be saved

   Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

   יְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsעַד־מָתַיad-ma/TAYhow longעָשַׁנְתָּa/SHAN/tawill You fumeבִּתְפִלַּתbit/fil/LATagainst the prayer ofעַמֶּךָ׃am/ME/khaYour people

   O LORD God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

   הֶאֱכַלְתָּםhe/e/khal/TAMYou have fed themלֶחֶםLE/chemthe bread ofדִּמְעָהdim/Atearsוַתַּשְׁקֵמוֹvat/tash/KE/moand made them drinkבִּדְמָעוֹתbid/ma/OTtearsשָׁלִישׁ׃sha/LISHin great measure

   Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.

   תְּשִׂימֵנוּte/si/ME/nuYou make usמָדוֹןma/DONan object of strifeלִשְׁכֵנֵינוּlish/khe/NE/nuto our neighborsוְאֹיְבֵינוּve/oy/VE/nuand our enemiesיִלְעֲגוּ־לָמוֹ׃yil/a/GU-LA/momock among themselves

   Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.

   אֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO Godצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsהֲשִׁיבֵנוּha/shi/VE/nurestore usוְהָאֵרve/ha/ERand make shineפָּנֶיךָpa/NE/khaYour faceוְנִוָּשֵׁעָה׃ve/niv/va/SHE/aand we shall be saved

   Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

   גֶּפֶןGE/fena vineמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptתַּסִּיעַtas/SI/aYou uprootedתְּגָרֵשׁte/ga/RESHYou cast outגּוֹיִםgo/YIMthe nationsוַתִּטָּעֶהָ׃vat/tit/ta/E/haand planted it

   Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.

    פִּנִּיתָpin/NI/taYou cleared groundלְפָנֶיהָle/fa/NE/habefore itוַתַּשְׁרֵשׁvat/tash/RESHand caused to take rootשׇׁרָשֶׁיהָsho/ra/SHE/haits rootsוַתְּמַלֵּא־אָרֶץ׃vat/te/mal/LE-A/retsand it filled the land

    Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.

    כׇּסּוּkos/SUwere coveredהָרִיםha/RIMthe mountainsצִלָּהּtsil/LAwith its shadowוַעֲנָפֶיהָva/a/na/FE/haand with its branchesאַרְזֵי־אֵל׃ar/ZE-elthe mighty cedars

    The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars.

    תְּשַׁלַּחte/shal/LACHit sent outקְצִירֶהָke/tsi/RE/haits branchesעַד־יָםad-yamto the seaוְאֶל־נָהָרve/EL-na/HARand to the riverיוֹנְקוֹתֶיהָ׃yon/ko/TE/haits young shoots

    She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river.

    לָמָּהLAM/mawhyפָּרַצְתָּpa/RATS/tahave You broken downגְדֵרֶיהָge/de/RE/haits wallsוְאָרוּהָve/a/RU/haso that pluck its fruitכׇּל־עֹבְרֵיkol-OV/reall who pass byדָרֶךְ׃DA/rekhthe way

    Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?

14. 14

    יְכַרְסְמֶנָּהye/khar/se/MEN/naravages itחֲזִירcha/ZIRthe boarמִיָּעַרmiy/YA/arout of the forestוְזִיזve/ZIZand the wild beast ofשָׂדַיsa/DAYthe fieldיִרְעֶנָּה׃yir/EN/nafeeds on it

    The boar out of the wood doth waste it, and the wild beast of the field doth devour it.

    אֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO Godצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsשׁוּב־נָאshuv-nareturn nowהַבֵּטhab/BETlook downמִשָּׁמַיִםmish/sha/MA/yimfrom heavenוּרְאֵהu/re/Eand beholdוּפְקֹדu/fe/KODand visitגֶּפֶןGE/fenvineזֹאת׃zotthis

    Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;

16. 16

    וְכַנָּהve/khan/NAand the stockאֲשֶׁר־נָטְעָהa/SHER-na/te/Athat has plantedיְמִינֶךָye/mi/NE/khaYour right handוְעַל־בֵּןve/AL-benand the sonאִמַּצְתָּהim/MATS/taYou made strongלָּךְ׃lakhfor Yourself

    And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.

17. 17

    שְׂרֻפָהse/ru/FAburnedבָאֵשׁva/ESHin fireכְּסוּחָהke/su/CHAcut downמִגַּעֲרַתmig/ga/a/RATat the rebuke ofפָּנֶיךָpa/NE/khaYour faceיֹאבֵדוּ׃yo/VE/duthey perish

    It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

18. 18

    תְּהִי־יָדְךָte/HI-ya/de/KHAlet Your hand beעַל־אִישׁal-ishupon the man ofיְמִינֶךָye/mi/NE/khaYour right handעַל־בֶּן־אָדָםal-ben-a/DAMupon the son of manאִמַּצְתָּim/MATS/tawhom You made strongלָּךְ׃lakhfor Yourself

    Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

19. 19

    וְלֹא־נָסוֹגve/LO-na/SOGthen we will not turn backמִמֶּךָּmim/MEK/kafrom Youתְּחַיֵּנוּte/chay/YE/nurevive usוּבְשִׁמְךָu/ve/shim/KHAand upon Your nameנִקְרָא׃nik/RAwe will call

    So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

    יְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsהֲשִׁיבֵנוּha/shi/VE/nurestore usהָאֵרha/ERmake shineפָּנֶיךָpa/NE/khaYour faceוְנִוָּשֵׁעָה׃ve/niv/va/SHE/aand we shall be saved

    Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
