   מִזְמוֹרa psalmלְאָסָףof AsaphאֱלֹהִיםO Godבָּאוּhave comeגוֹיִםthe nationsבְּנַחֲלָתֶךָin your inheritanceטִמְּאוּthey have defiledאֶת־הֵיכַלthe temple ofקׇדְשֶׁךָYour holinessשָׂמוּthey have laidאֶת־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemלְעִיִּים׃in heaps

   A Psalm of Asaph. O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

   נָתְנוּthey have givenאֶת־נִבְלַתthe dead bodies ofעֲבָדֶיךָYour servantsמַאֲכׇלas foodלְעוֹףto the birds ofהַשָּׁמָיִםthe heavensבְּשַׂרthe flesh ofחֲסִידֶיךָYour faithful onesלְחַיְתוֹ־אָרֶץ׃to the animals of the earth

   The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

   שָׁפְכוּthey have shedדָמָםtheir bloodכַּמַּיִםas the watersסְבִיבוֹתround aboutיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםJerusalemוְאֵיןand there was noneקוֹבֵר׃to bury them

   Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.

   הָיִינוּwe have becomeחֶרְפָּהa reproachלִשְׁכֵנֵינוּto our neighborsלַעַגa scornוָקֶלֶסand a derisionלִסְבִיבוֹתֵינוּ׃to those around us

   We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

   עַד־מָהhow longיְהֹוָהO LORDתֶּאֱנַףwill You be angryלָנֶצַחforeverתִּבְעַרshall burnכְּמוֹ־אֵשׁlike fireקִנְאָתֶךָ׃Your jealousy

   How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

   שְׁפֹךְpour outחֲמָתְךָYour wrathאֶל־הַגּוֹיִםunto the nationsאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יְדָעוּךָhave not known Youוְעַלand uponמַמְלָכוֹתkingdomsאֲשֶׁרwhichבְּשִׁמְךָupon Your nameלֹאnotקָרָאוּ׃have they called

   Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

   כִּיforאָכַלthey have devouredאֶת־יַעֲקֹבJacobוְאֶת־נָוֵהוּand his dwelling placeהֵשַׁמּוּ׃they have laid waste

   For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.

8. 8

   אַל־תִּזְכׇּר־לָנוּremember not against usעֲוֺנֹתthe iniquities ofרִאשֹׁנִיםof former timesמַהֵרspeedilyיְקַדְּמוּנוּlet come to meet usרַחֲמֶיךָYour tender merciesכִּיforדַלּוֹנוּwe are brought very lowמְאֹד׃very

   O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

9. 9

   עׇזְרֵנוּhelp usאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׁעֵנוּour salvationעַל־דְּבַרfor the sake ofכְּבוֹד־שְׁמֶךָthe glory of Your nameוְהַצִּילֵנוּand deliver usוְכַפֵּרand purge awayעַל־חַטֹּאתֵינוּupon our sinsלְמַעַןfor the sake ofשְׁמֶךָ׃Your name

   Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.

10. 10

    לָמָּהwhyיֹאמְרוּshould sayהַגּוֹיִםthe nationsאַיֵּהwhere isאֱלֹהֵיהֶםtheir Godיִוָּדַעlet be known[בַּגּוֹיִם]among the nationsלְעֵינֵינוּbefore our eyesנִקְמַתthe avenging ofדַּם־עֲבָדֶיךָthe blood of Your servantsהַשָּׁפוּךְ׃which is shed

    Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

11. 11

    תָּבוֹאlet comeלְפָנֶיךָbefore Youאֶנְקַתthe sighing ofאָסִירthe prisonerכְּגֹדֶלaccording to the greatness ofזְרוֹעֲךָYour armהוֹתֵרpreserveבְּנֵיthose appointed toתְמוּתָה׃die

    Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

12. 12

    וְהָשֵׁבand renderלִשְׁכֵנֵינוּto our neighborsשִׁבְעָתַיִםsevenfoldאֶל־חֵיקָםinto their bosomחֶרְפָּתָםtheir reproachאֲשֶׁרwhichחֵרְפוּךָthey have reproached Youאֲדֹנָי׃O Lord

    And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13. 13

    וַאֲנַחְנוּso weעַמְּךָYour peopleוְצֹאןand the flock ofמַרְעִיתֶךָYour pastureנוֹדֶהwe give thanksלְּךָto Youלְעוֹלָםforeverלְדוֹרto generationוָדֹרto generationנְסַפֵּרwe will show forthתְּהִלָּתֶךָ׃Your praise

    So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.
