   A Psalm of Asaph. O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

   נָתְנוּna/te/NUthey have givenאֶת־נִבְלַתet-niv/LATthe dead bodies ofעֲבָדֶיךָa/va/DE/khaYour servantsמַאֲכָלma/a/KHALas foodלְעוֹףle/OFto the birds ofהַשָּׁמָיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensבְּשַׂרbe/SARthe flesh ofחֲסִידֶיךָcha/si/DE/khaYour faithful onesלְחַיְתוֹ־אָרֶץ׃le/chay/TO-A/retsto the beasts of the earth

   The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

   שָׁפְכוּsha/fe/KHUthey have shedדָמָםda/MAMtheir bloodכַּמַּיִםkam/MA/yimlike waterסְבִיבוֹתse/vi/VOTaroundיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemוְאֵיןve/ENand there was noקוֹבֵר׃ko/VERone to bury

   Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.

   הָיִינוּha/YI/nuwe have becomeחֶרְפָּהcher/PAa reproachלִשְׁכֵנֵינוּlish/khe/NE/nuto our neighborsלַעַגLA/aga scornוָקֶלֶסva/KE/lesand derisionלִסְבִיבוֹתֵינוּ׃lis/vi/vo/TE/nuto those around us

   We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

   עַד־מָהad-mahow longיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDתֶּאֱנַףte/e/NAFwill You be angryלָנֶצַחla/NE/tsachforeverתִּבְעַרtiv/ARshall burnכְּמוֹ־אֵשׁke/MO-eshlike fireקִנְאָתֶךָ׃kin/a/TE/khaYour jealousy

   How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

   שְׁפֹךְshe/FOKHpour outחֲמָתְךָcha/ma/te/KHAYour wrathאֶל־הַגּוֹיִםel-hag/go/YIMto the nationsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־יְדָעוּךָlo-ye/da/U/khahave not known Youוְעַלve/ALand uponמַמְלָכוֹתmam/la/KHOTkingdomsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבְּשִׁמְךָbe/shim/KHAupon Your nameלֹאlonotקָרָאוּ׃ka/RA/uhave they called

   Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

   כִּיkiforאָכַלa/KHALthey have devouredאֶת־יַעֲקֹבet-Ya/a/KOVJacobוְאֶת־נָוֵהוּve/ET-na/VE/huand his pastureהֵשַׁמּוּ׃he/SHAM/muthey have laid waste

   For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.

   אַל־תִּזְכׇּר־לָנוּal-tiz/KOR-LA/nuremember not against usעֲוֺנֹתa/vo/NOTthe iniquities ofרִאשֹׁנִיםri/sho/NIMof former generationsמַהֵרma/HERspeedilyיְקַדְּמוּנוּye/kad/de/MU/nulet meet usרַחֲמֶיךָra/cha/ME/khaYour compassionכִּיkiforדַלּוֹנוּdal/LO/nuwe are brought lowמְאֹד׃me/ODvery

   O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

   עׇזְרֵנוּoz/RE/nuhelp usאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׁעֵנוּyish/E/nuour salvationעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARfor the sake ofכְּבוֹד־שְׁמֶךָke/VOD-she/ME/khathe glory of Your nameוְהַצִּילֵנוּve/hats/tsi/LE/nuand deliver usוְכַפֵּרve/khap/PERand atoneעַל־חַטֹּאתֵינוּal-chat/to/TE/nufor our sinsלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofשְׁמֶךָ׃she/ME/khaYour name

   Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.

    לָמָּהLAM/mawhyיֹאמְרוּyo/me/RUshould sayהַגּוֹיִםhag/go/YIMthe nationsאַיֵּהay/YEwhere isאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMtheir Godיִוָּדַעyiv/va/DAlet be known[בַּגּוֹיִם]bag/go/YIMamong the nationsלְעֵינֵינוּle/e/NE/nubefore our eyesנִקְמַתnik/MATthe vengeance ofדַּם־עֲבָדֶיךָdam-a/va/DE/khathe blood of Your servantsהַשָּׁפוּךְ׃hash/sha/FUKHthat is shed

    Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

    תָּבוֹאta/VOlet comeלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore Youאֶנְקַתen/KATthe sighing ofאָסִירa/SIRthe prisonerכְּגֹדֶלke/GO/delaccording to the greatness ofזְרוֹעֲךָze/ro/a/KHAYour armהוֹתֵרho/TERpreserveבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofתְמוּתָה׃te/mu/TAdeath

    Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

    וְהָשֵׁבve/ha/SHEVand returnלִשְׁכֵנֵינוּlish/khe/NE/nuto our neighborsשִׁבְעָתַיִםshiv/a/TA/yimsevenfoldאֶל־חֵיקָםel-che/KAMinto their bosomחֶרְפָּתָםcher/pa/TAMtheir tauntsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwith whichחֵרְפוּךָcher/FU/khathey have taunted Youאֲדֹנָי׃a/do/NAYO Lord

    And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

    וַאֲנַחְנוּva/a/NACH/nuand weעַמְּךָam/me/KHAYour peopleוְצֹאןve/TSONand the flock ofמַרְעִיתֶךָmar/i/TE/khaYour pastureנוֹדֶהno/DEwill give thanksלְּךָle/KHAto Youלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverלְדוֹרle/DORto generationוָדֹרva/DORand generationנְסַפֵּרne/sap/PERwe will recountתְּהִלָּתֶךָ׃te/hil/la/TE/khaYour praise

    So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.
