   מִזְמוֹרmiz/MORa psalmלְאָסָףle/A/SAFof Asaphאַךְakhtrulyטוֹבtovis goodלְיִשְׂרָאֵלle/Yis/ra/ELto Israelאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלְבָרֵיle/va/REto the pure ofלֵבָב׃le/VAVheart

   A Psalm of Asaph. Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

   וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut as for meכִּמְעַטkim/ATalmost(נטוי)natavay[נָטָיוּ]na/TA/yuhad turned asideרַגְלָיrag/LAYmy feetכְּאַיִןke/A/yinnearly(שפכה)shafakhah[שֻׁפְּכוּ]shup/pe/KHUhad slippedאֲשֻׁרָי׃a/shu/RAYmy steps

   But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.

   כִּי־קִנֵּאתִיki-kin/NE/tifor I was enviousבַּהוֹלְלִיםba/hol/LIMat the arrogantשְׁלוֹםshe/LOMthe prosperity ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedאֶרְאֶה׃er/Eas I saw

   For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

   כִּיkiforאֵיןenthere are noחַרְצֻבּוֹתchar/tsub/BOTpangsלְמוֹתָםle/mo/TAMin their deathוּבָרִיאu/va/RIand is firmאוּלָם׃u/LAMtheir body

   For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.

   בַּעֲמַלba/a/MALin the trouble ofאֱנוֹשׁe/NOSHmanאֵינֵמוֹe/NE/mothey are notוְעִם־אָדָםve/IM-a/DAMand with manלֹאlonotיְנֻגָּעוּ׃ye/nug/GA/uare they plagued

   They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeעֲנָקַתְמוֹa/na/KAT/mois their necklaceגַאֲוָהga/a/VAprideיַעֲטָף־שִׁיתya/a/TAF-shitcovers them as a garmentחָמָסcha/MASviolenceלָמוֹ׃LA/mothem

   Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.

   יָצָאya/TSAbulgeמֵחֵלֶבme/CHE/levfrom fatnessעֵינֵמוֹe/NE/motheir eyesעָבְרוּa/ve/RUthey overflowמַשְׂכִּיּוֹתmas/kiy/YOTthe imaginations ofלֵבָב׃le/VAVtheir heart

   Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.

   יָמִיקוּya/MI/kuthey scoffוִידַבְּרוּvi/dab/be/RUand speakבְרָעve/RAin evilעֹשֶׁקO/shekoppressionמִמָּרוֹםmim/ma/ROMloftilyיְדַבֵּרוּ׃ye/dab/BE/ruthey speak

   They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.

   שַׁתּוּshat/TUthey setבַשָּׁמַיִםvash/sha/MA/yimagainst the heavensפִּיהֶםpi/HEMtheir mouthוּלְשׁוֹנָםu/le/sho/NAMand their tongueתִּהֲלַךְti/ha/LAKHwalksבָּאָרֶץ׃ba/A/retsin the land

   They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.

    לָכֵןla/KHENtherefore(ישיב)yashayav[יָשׁוּב]ya/SHUVturnsעַמּוֹam/MOHis peopleהֲלֹםha/LOMhitherוּמֵיu/MEand waters ofמָלֵאma/LEa full cupיִמָּצוּyim/MA/tsuare drainedלָמוֹ׃LA/moby them

    Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.

    וְאָמְרוּve/a/me/RUand they sayאֵיכָהe/KHAhowיָדַע־אֵלya/DA-eldoes God knowוְיֵשׁve/YESHand is thereדֵּעָהde/Aknowledgeבְעֶלְיוֹן׃ve/El/YONin the Most High

    And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?

12. 12

    הִנֵּה־אֵלֶּהhin/NE-EL/lebehold these areרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedוְשַׁלְוֵיve/shal/VEand at easeעוֹלָםo/LAMalwaysהִשְׂגּוּ־חָיִל׃his/GU-CHA/yilthey increase wealth

    Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

13. 13

    אַךְ־רִיקakh-riksurely in vainזִכִּיתִיzik/KI/tiI have kept pureלְבָבִיle/va/VImy heartוָאֶרְחַץva/er/CHATSand I have washedבְּנִקָּיוֹןbe/nik/ka/YONin innocenceכַּפָּי׃kap/PAYmy hands

    Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.

14. 14

    וָאֱהִיva/e/HIand I wasנָגוּעַna/GU/aplaguedכׇּל־הַיּוֹםkol-hay/YOMall the dayוְתוֹכַחְתִּיve/to/khach/TIand my chasteningלַבְּקָרִים׃lab/be/ka/RIMwas every morning

    For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

15. 15

    אִם־אָמַרְתִּיim-a/MAR/tiif I had saidאֲסַפְּרָהa/sap/pe/RAI will speakכְמוֹkhe/MOthusהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdדוֹרdorthe generation ofבָּנֶיךָba/NE/khaYour childrenבָגָדְתִּי׃va/GAD/tiI would have betrayed

    If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.

16. 16

    וָאֲחַשְּׁבָהva/a/chash/she/VAand I ponderedלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowזֹאתzotthisעָמָלa/MALa trouble(היא)hay[הוּא]huitבְעֵינָי׃ve/e/NAYin my eyes

    When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;

    עַד־אָבוֹאad-a/VOuntil I cameאֶל־מִקְדְּשֵׁי־אֵלel-mik/de/SHE-elto the sanctuaries of Godאָבִינָהa/VI/nathen I understoodלְאַחֲרִיתָם׃le/a/cha/ri/TAMtheir end

    Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

18. 18

    אַךְakhsurelyבַּחֲלָקוֹתba/cha/la/KOTin slippery placesתָּשִׁיתta/SHITYou setלָמוֹLA/mofor themהִפַּלְתָּםhip/pal/TAMYou cast them downלְמַשּׁוּאוֹת׃le/mash/shu/OTinto ruins

    Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.

19. 19

    אֵיךְekhhowהָיוּha/YUare theyלְשַׁמָּהle/sham/MAinto desolationכְרָגַעkhe/RA/gain a momentסָפוּSA/futhey are swept awayתַמּוּTAM/muthey are endedמִן־בַּלָּהוֹת׃min-bal/la/HOTwith terrors

    How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.

20. 20

    כַּחֲלוֹםka/cha/LOMas a dreamמֵהָקִיץme/ha/KITSwhen one awakesאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO Lordבָּעִירba/IRwhen You awakeצַלְמָםtsal/MAMtheir imageתִּבְזֶה׃tiv/ZEYou will despise

    As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.

21. 21

    כִּיkiwhenיִתְחַמֵּץyit/cham/METSwas embitteredלְבָבִיle/va/VImy heartוְכִלְיוֹתַיve/khil/yo/TAYand in my kidneysאֶשְׁתּוֹנָן׃esh/to/NANI was pricked

    Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.

22. 22

    וַאֲנִי־בַעַרva/a/NI-VA/arI was brutishוְלֹאve/LOand notאֵדָעe/DAdid I knowבְּהֵמוֹתbe/he/MOTas a beastהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI wasעִמָּךְ׃im/MAKHbefore You

    So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.

23. 23

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIyet Iתָמִידta/MIDcontinuallyעִמָּךְim/MAKHam with Youאָחַזְתָּa/CHAZ/taYou have heldבְּיַד־יְמִינִי׃be/YAD-ye/mi/NImy right hand

    Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.

24. 24

    בַּעֲצָתְךָba/a/tsa/te/KHAwith Your counselתַנְחֵנִיtan/CHE/niYou will guide meוְאַחַרve/a/CHARand afterwardכָּבוֹדka/VODto gloryתִּקָּחֵנִי׃tik/ka/CHE/niYou will receive me

    Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

25. 25

    מִי־לִיmi-liwhom have Iבַשָּׁמָיִםvash/sha/MA/yimin the heavensוְעִמְּךָve/im/me/KHAand with Youלֹא־חָפַצְתִּיlo-cha/FATS/tithere is none I desireבָאָרֶץ׃va/A/retsupon earth

    Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

26. 26

    כָּלָהka/LAfailsשְׁאֵרִיshe/e/RImy fleshוּלְבָבִיu/le/va/VIand my heartצוּר־לְבָבִיtsur-le/va/VIthe rock of my heartוְחֶלְקִיve/chel/KIand my portionאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלְעוֹלָם׃le/o/LAMforever

    My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

27. 27

    כִּי־הִנֵּהki-hin/NEbecause beholdרְחֵקֶיךָre/che/KE/khathose far from Youיֹאבֵדוּyo/VE/dushall perishהִצְמַתָּהhits/MAT/taYou destroyכׇּל־זוֹנֶהkol-zo/NEeveryone who is unfaithfulמִמֶּךָּ׃mim/MEK/kafrom You

    For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.

28. 28

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut as for meקִרְבַתkir/VATthe nearness ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלִי־טוֹבli-tovis good for meשַׁתִּיshat/TII have madeבַּאדֹנָיba/do/NAYin the LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODמַחְסִיmach/SImy refugeלְסַפֵּרle/sap/PERto tellכׇּל־מַלְאֲכוֹתֶיךָ׃kol-mal/a/kho/TE/khaall Your works

    But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
