1. 1

   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianעַל־שׁוֹשַׁנִּיםupon Shoshannimלְדָוִד׃of David

   To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David.

2. 2

   הוֹשִׁיעֵנִיsave meאֱלֹהִיםO Godכִּיforבָאוּare come inמַיִםthe watersעַד־נָפֶשׁ׃unto my soul

   Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

3. 3

   טָבַעְתִּיI have sunkבִּיוֵןin deep mireמְצוּלָהof the depthsוְאֵיןand there is noמׇעֳמָדstandingבָּאתִיI am comeבְמַעֲמַקֵּי־מַיִםinto deep watersוְשִׁבֹּלֶתand the floodשְׁטָפָתְנִי׃overflows me

   I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

   יָגַעְתִּיI am wearyבְקׇרְאִיwith my cryingנִחַרis driedגְּרוֹנִיmy throatכָּלוּfailעֵינַיmy eyesמְיַחֵלwhile I waitלֵאלֹהָי׃for my God

   I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

   רַבּוּthey are moreמִשַּׂעֲרוֹתmore than the hairs ofרֹאשִׁיmy headשֹׂנְאַיthose who hate meחִנָּםwithout causeעָצְמוּare mightyמַצְמִיתַיthey who would destroy meאֹיְבַיmy enemiesשֶׁקֶרwrongfullyאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־גָזַלְתִּיI took not awayאָזthenאָשִׁיב׃I must restore

   They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.

   אֱלֹהִיםO GodאַתָּהYouיָדַעְתָּyou knowלְאִוַּלְתִּיmy follyוְאַשְׁמוֹתַיand my guiltמִמְּךָfrom Youלֹא־נִכְחָדוּ׃are not hidden

   O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.

7. 7

   אַל־יֵבֹשׁוּlet not be ashamedבִיthrough meקֹוֶיךָthose who wait on YouאֲדֹנָיO LordיֱהֹוִהGODצְבָאוֹתof Hostsאַל־יִכָּלְמוּlet not be confoundedבִיthrough meמְבַקְשֶׁיךָthose who seek Youאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

   Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.

8. 8

   כִּי־עָלֶיךָbecause for Your sakeנָשָׂאתִיI have borneחֶרְפָּהreproachכִּסְּתָהhas coveredכְלִמָּהshameפָנָי׃my face

   Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.

9. 9

   מוּזָרa strangerהָיִיתִיI have becomeלְאֶחָיto my brothersוְנׇכְרִיand an alienלִבְנֵיunto the sons ofאִמִּי׃my mother

   I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.

10. 10

    כִּי־קִנְאַתfor the zeal ofבֵּיתְךָYour houseאֲכָלָתְנִיit has consumed meוְחֶרְפּוֹתand the reproaches ofחוֹרְפֶיךָthose who reproach Youנָפְלוּfellעָלָי׃upon me

    For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

11. 11

    וָאֶבְכֶּהand I weptבַצּוֹםwith fastingנַפְשִׁיmy soulוַתְּהִיand that becameלַחֲרָפוֹתreproachesלִי׃to me

    When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.

12. 12

    וָאֶתְּנָהand I madeלְבוּשִׁיmy clothingשָׂקsackclothוָאֱהִיand I becameלָהֶםto themלְמָשָׁל׃a byword

    I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.

13. 13

    יָשִׂיחוּthey talkבִיof meיֹשְׁבֵיinhabitants ofשָׁעַרthe gateוּנְגִינוֹתand I am the song ofשׁוֹתֵיdrinkers ofשֵׁכָר׃strong drink

    They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.

14. 14

    וַאֲנִיand Iתְפִלָּתִי־לְךָmy prayer is to YouיְהֹוָהO LORDעֵתin a time ofרָצוֹןfavorאֱלֹהִיםO Godבְּרׇב־חַסְדֶּךָin the abundance of Your mercyעֲנֵנִיhear meבֶּאֱמֶתin truthיִשְׁעֶךָ׃of Your salvation

    But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.

15. 15

    הַצִּילֵנִיdeliver meמִטִּיטout of the mireוְאַל־אֶטְבָּעָהand let me not sinkאִנָּצְלָהlet me be deliveredמִשֹּׂנְאַיfrom those who hate meוּמִמַּעֲמַקֵּי־מָיִם׃and from depths of water

    Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

16. 16

    אַל־תִּשְׁטְפֵנִיlet not overflow meשִׁבֹּלֶתthe flood ofמַיִםwatersוְאַל־תִּבְלָעֵנִיnor let swallow me upמְצוּלָהthe deepוְאַל־תֶּאְטַר־עָלַיand let not shut upon meבְּאֵרthe pitפִּיהָ׃her mouth

    Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

17. 17

    עֲנֵנִיhear meיְהֹוָהO LORDכִּי־טוֹבfor is goodחַסְדֶּךָYour mercyכְּרֹבaccording to the multitude ofרַחֲמֶיךָYour tender merciesפְּנֵהturnאֵלָי׃to me

    Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

18. 18

    וְאַל־תַּסְתֵּרand do not hideפָּנֶיךָYour faceמֵעַבְדֶּךָfrom Your servantכִּי־צַר־לִיfor I am in troubleמַהֵרspeedilyעֲנֵנִי׃hear me

    And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.

19. 19

    קׇרְבָהdraw nearאֶל־נַפְשִׁיto my soulגְאָלָהּredeem itלְמַעַןbecause ofאֹיְבַיmy enemiesפְּדֵנִי׃redeem me

    Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.

20. 20

    אַתָּהYouיָדַעְתָּyou knowחֶרְפָּתִיmy reproachוּבׇשְׁתִּיand my shameוּכְלִמָּתִיand my dishonorנֶגְדְּךָare before Youכׇּל־צוֹרְרָי׃all my adversaries are

    Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.

21. 21

    חֶרְפָּהreproachשָׁבְרָהhas brokenלִבִּיmy heartוָאָנוּשָׁהand I am full of heavinessוָאֲקַוֶּהand I lookedלָנוּדfor some to take pityוָאַיִןbut there was noneוְלַמְנַחֲמִיםand for comfortersוְלֹאand notמָצָאתִי׃did I find any

    Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

22. 22

    וַיִּתְּנוּthey gave alsoבְּבָרוּתִיfor my foodרֹאשׁgallוְלִצְמָאִיand for my thirstיַשְׁקוּנִיthey gave me to drinkחֹמֶץ׃vinegar

    They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

23. 23

    יְהִי־שֻׁלְחָנָםlet their table becomeלִפְנֵיהֶםbefore themלְפָחa snareוְלִשְׁלוֹמִיםand when they are at peaceלְמוֹקֵשׁ׃let it be a trap

    Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.

24. 24

    תֶּחְשַׁכְנָהlet be darkenedעֵינֵיהֶםtheir eyesמֵרְאוֹתfrom seeingוּמׇתְנֵיהֶםand their loinsתָּמִידcontinuallyהַמְעַד׃make to shake

    Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.

25. 25

    שְׁפׇךְ־עֲלֵיהֶםpour out upon themזַעְמֶךָYour indignationוַחֲרוֹןand the fierceness ofאַפְּךָYour angerיַשִּׂיגֵם׃let take hold of them

    Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.

26. 26

    תְּהִי־טִירָתָםlet their habitation beנְשַׁמָּהdesolateבְּאׇהֳלֵיהֶםin their tentsאַל־יְהִיlet there be noneיֹשֵׁב׃who dwells

    Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.

27. 27

    כִּי־אַתָּהfor whom Youאֲשֶׁר־הִכִּיתָhave smittenרָדָפוּthey persecuteוְאֶל־מַכְאוֹבand of the pain ofחֲלָלֶיךָthose You have woundedיְסַפֵּרוּ׃they tell

    For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.

28. 28

    תְּנָה־עָוֺןadd iniquityעַל־עֲוֺנָםto their iniquityוְאַל־יָבֹאוּand let them not comeבְּצִדְקָתֶךָ׃in Your righteousness

    Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.

29. 29

    יִמָּחוּlet them be blotted outמִסֵּפֶרfrom the book ofחַיִּיםlifeוְעִםand withצַדִּיקִיםthe righteousאַל־יִכָּתֵבוּ׃let them not be written

    Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

30. 30

    וַאֲנִיand Iעָנִיam poorוְכוֹאֵבand sorrowfulיְשׁוּעָתְךָYour salvationאֱלֹהִיםO Godתְּשַׂגְּבֵנִי׃set me on high

    But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.

31. 31

    אֲהַלְלָהI will praiseשֵׁם־אֱלֹהִיםthe name of Godבְּשִׁירin a songוַאֲגַדְּלֶנּוּand will magnify Himבְתוֹדָה׃with thanksgiving

    I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

32. 32

    וְתִיטַבand this shall pleaseלַיהֹוָהto the LORDמִשּׁוֹרmore than an oxפָּרor a bullockמַקְרִןthat has hornsמַפְרִיס׃and hoofs

    This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.

33. 33

    רָאוּhave seen thisעֲנָוִיםthe humbleיִשְׂמָחוּand are gladדֹּרְשֵׁיO you who seekאֱלֹהִיםGodוִיחִיand let liveלְבַבְכֶם׃your heart

    The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.

34. 34

    כִּי־שֹׁמֵעַfor hearsאֶל־אֶבְיוֹנִיםthe needyיְהֹוָהthe LORDוְאֶת־אֲסִירָיוand His prisonersלֹאnotבָזָה׃does He despise

    For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.

35. 35

    יְהַלְלוּהוּlet praise Himשָׁמַיִםthe heavensוָאָרֶץand the earthיַמִּיםthe seasוְכׇל־רֹמֵשׂand everything that movesבָּם׃therein

    Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein.

36. 36

    כִּיforאֱלֹהִיםGodיוֹשִׁיעַwill saveצִיּוֹןZionוְיִבְנֶהand will buildעָרֵיcities ofיְהוּדָהJudahוְיָשְׁבוּand they shall dwellשָׁםthereוִירֵשׁוּהָ׃and possess it

    For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.

37. 37

    וְזֶרַעand the seed ofעֲבָדָיוhis servantsיִנְחָלוּהָshall inherit itוְאֹהֲבֵיand those who loveשְׁמוֹHis nameיִשְׁכְּנוּ־בָהּ׃shall dwell therein

    The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.
