   To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David.

   הוֹשִׁיעֵנִיho/shi/E/nisave meאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO GodכִּיkiforבָאוּVA/uhave comeמַיִםMA/yimthe watersעַד־נָפֶשׁ׃ad-NA/feshto my soul

   Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

   טָבַעְתִּיta/VA/tiI have sunkבִּיוֵןbi/VENin the mire ofמְצוּלָהme/tsu/LAthe deepוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noמׇעֳמָדmo/o/MADstandingבָּאתִיBA/tiI have comeבְמַעֲמַקֵּי־מַיִםve/ma/a/mak/KE-MA/yiminto deep watersוְשִׁבֹּלֶתve/shib/BO/letand the floodשְׁטָפָתְנִי׃she/ta/FAT/nioverflows me

   I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

   יָגַעְתִּיya/GA/tiI am wearyבְקׇרְאִיve/kor/Iof my cryingנִחַרni/CHARis parchedגְּרוֹנִיge/ro/NImy throatכָּלוּka/LUfailעֵינַיe/NAYmy eyesמְיַחֵלme/ya/CHELwhile I waitלֵאלֹהָי׃le/lo/HAYfor my God

   I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

   רַבּוּrab/BUare moreמִשַּׂעֲרוֹתmis/sa/a/ROTmore than the hairs ofרֹאשִׁיro/SHImy headשֹׂנְאַיson/AYthose who hate meחִנָּםchin/NAMwithout causeעָצְמוּa/tse/MUare mightyמַצְמִיתַיmats/mi/TAYthose who would destroy meאֹיְבַיoy/VAYmy enemiesשֶׁקֶרSHE/kerwrongfullyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhatלֹא־גָזַלְתִּיlo-ga/ZAL/tiI did not stealאָזazthenאָשִׁיב׃a/SHIVI must restore

   They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.

   אֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO Godאַתָּהat/TAYouיָדַעְתָּya/DA/taknowלְאִוַּלְתִּיle/iv/val/TImy follyוְאַשְׁמוֹתַיve/ash/mo/TAYand my guiltמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAfrom Youלֹא־נִכְחָדוּ׃lo-nikh/CHA/duare not hidden

   O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.

   אַל־יֵבֹשׁוּal-ye/VO/shulet not be ashamedבִיvithrough meקֹוֶיךָko/ve/KHAthose who wait on Youאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsאַל־יִכָּלְמוּal-yik/KAL/mulet not be confoundedבִיvithrough meמְבַקְשֶׁיךָme/vak/SHE/khathose who seek Youאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.

   כִּי־עָלֶיךָki-a/LE/khabecause for Your sakeנָשָׂאתִיna/SA/tiI have borneחֶרְפָּהcher/PAreproachכִּסְּתָהkis/se/TAhas coveredכְלִמָּהkhe/lim/MAshameפָנָי׃fa/NAYmy face

   Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.

   מוּזָרmu/ZARa strangerהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI have becomeלְאֶחָיle/e/CHAYto my brothersוְנׇכְרִיve/nokh/RIand an alienלִבְנֵיliv/NEto the sons ofאִמִּי׃im/MImy mother

   I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.

    כִּי־קִנְאַתki-kin/ATfor the zeal ofבֵּיתְךָbe/te/KHAYour houseאֲכָלָתְנִיa/kha/LAT/niit has consumed meוְחֶרְפּוֹתve/cher/POTand the reproaches ofחוֹרְפֶיךָchor/FE/khathose who reproach Youנָפְלוּna/fe/LUfellעָלָי׃a/LAYupon me

    For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

11. 11

    וָאֶבְכֶּהva/ev/KEwhen I weptבַצּוֹםvats/TSOMin fastingנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIit becameלַחֲרָפוֹתla/cha/ra/FOTreproachesלִי׃lito me

    When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.

12. 12

    וָאֶתְּנָהva/et/te/NAand I madeלְבוּשִׁיle/vu/SHImy clothingשָׂקsaksackclothוָאֱהִיva/e/HIand I becameלָהֶםla/HEMto themלְמָשָׁל׃le/ma/SHALa byword

    I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.

13. 13

    יָשִׂיחוּya/SI/chutalkבִיviabout meיֹשְׁבֵיyosh/VEthose who sit inשָׁעַרSHA/arthe gateוּנְגִינוֹתu/ne/gi/NOTand the songs ofשׁוֹתֵיsho/TEdrinkers ofשֵׁכָר׃she/KHARstrong drink

    They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.

14. 14

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut as for meתְפִלָּתִי־לְךָte/fil/la/TI-le/KHAmy prayer is to YouיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDעֵתetin a time ofרָצוֹןra/TSONfavorאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO Godבְּרׇב־חַסְדֶּךָbe/ROV-chas/DE/khain the abundance of Your kindnessעֲנֵנִיa/NE/nianswer meבֶּאֱמֶתbe/e/METin the truth ofיִשְׁעֶךָ׃yish/E/khaof Your salvation

    But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.

    הַצִּילֵנִיhats/tsi/LE/nideliver meמִטִּיטmit/TITout of the mireוְאַל־אֶטְבָּעָהve/AL-et/BA/aand let me not sinkאִנָּצְלָהin/na/tse/LAlet me be deliveredמִשֹּׂנְאַיmis/son/AYfrom those who hate meוּמִמַּעֲמַקֵּי־מָיִם׃u/mim/MA/a/mak/ke-MA/yimand from the depths of the waters

    Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

16. 16

    אַל־תִּשְׁטְפֵנִיal-tish/te/FE/nilet not overflow meשִׁבֹּלֶתshib/BO/letthe flood ofמַיִםMA/yimwatersוְאַל־תִּבְלָעֵנִיve/AL-tiv/la/E/ninor let swallow me upמְצוּלָהme/tsu/LAthe deepוְאַל־תֶּאְטַר־עָלַיve/AL-te/TAR-a/LAYand let not shut upon meבְּאֵרbe/ERthe pitפִּיהָ׃PI/haits mouth

    Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

17. 17

    עֲנֵנִיa/NE/nianswer meיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDכִּי־טוֹבki-tovfor is goodחַסְדֶּךָchas/DE/khaYour kindnessכְּרֹבke/ROVaccording to the multitude ofרַחֲמֶיךָra/cha/ME/khaYour compassionפְּנֵהpe/NEturnאֵלָי׃e/LAYto me

    Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

18. 18

    וְאַל־תַּסְתֵּרve/AL-tas/TERand do not hideפָּנֶיךָpa/NE/khaYour faceמֵעַבְדֶּךָme/av/DE/khafrom Your servantכִּי־צַר־לִיki-tsar-lifor I am in troubleמַהֵרma/HERspeedilyעֲנֵנִי׃a/NE/nianswer me

    And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.

19. 19

    קׇרְבָהkor/VAdraw nearאֶל־נַפְשִׁיel-naf/SHIto my soulגְאָלָהּge/a/LAredeem itלְמַעַןle/MA/anbecause ofאֹיְבַיoy/VAYmy enemiesפְּדֵנִי׃pe/DE/niredeem me

    Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.

20. 20

    אַתָּהat/TAYouיָדַעְתָּya/DA/taknowחֶרְפָּתִיcher/pa/TImy reproachוּבׇשְׁתִּיu/vosh/TIand my shameוּכְלִמָּתִיu/khe/lim/ma/TIand my disgraceנֶגְדְּךָneg/de/KHAare before Youכׇּל־צוֹרְרָי׃kol-tsor/RAYall my adversaries are

    Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.

21. 21

    חֶרְפָּהcher/PAreproachשָׁבְרָהsha/ve/RAhas brokenלִבִּיlib/BImy heartוָאָנוּשָׁהva/a/NU/shaand I am sickוָאֲקַוֶּהva/a/kav/VEand I lookedלָנוּדla/NUDfor sympathyוָאַיִןva/A/yinbut there was noneוְלַמְנַחֲמִיםve/lam/na/cha/MIMand for comfortersוְלֹאve/LOand notמָצָאתִי׃ma/TSA/tidid I find any

    Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.

22. 22

    וַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand they gaveבְּבָרוּתִיbe/va/ru/TIfor my foodרֹאשׁroshgallוְלִצְמָאִיve/lits/ma/Iand for my thirstיַשְׁקוּנִיyash/KU/nithey gave me to drinkחֹמֶץ׃CHO/metsvinegar

    They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

23. 23

    יְהִי־שֻׁלְחָנָםye/HI-shul/cha/NAMlet their table becomeלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themלְפָחle/FACHa snareוְלִשְׁלוֹמִיםve/lish/lo/MIMand to those at peaceלְמוֹקֵשׁ׃le/mo/KESHlet it be a trap

    Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.

24. 24

    תֶּחְשַׁכְנָהtech/SHAKH/nalet be darkenedעֵינֵיהֶםe/ne/HEMtheir eyesמֵרְאוֹתmer/OTfrom seeingוּמׇתְנֵיהֶםu/mot/ne/HEMand their loinsתָּמִידta/MIDcontinuallyהַמְעַד׃ham/ADmake tremble

    Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.

25. 25

    שְׁפׇךְ־עֲלֵיהֶםshe/FOKH-a/le/HEMpour out upon themזַעְמֶךָza/ME/khaYour indignationוַחֲרוֹןva/cha/RONand the fierceness ofאַפְּךָap/pe/KHAYour angerיַשִּׂיגֵם׃yas/si/GEMlet overtake them

    Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.

26. 26

    תְּהִי־טִירָתָםte/HI-ti/ra/TAMlet their habitation beנְשַׁמָּהne/sham/MAdesolateבְּאׇהֳלֵיהֶםbe/o/ho/le/HEMin their tentsאַל־יְהִיal-ye/HIlet there be noneיֹשֵׁב׃yo/SHEVwho dwells

    Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.

27. 27

    כִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAfor Youאֲשֶׁר־הִכִּיתָa/SHER-hik/KI/tahim whom You have struckרָדָפוּra/DA/futhey persecuteוְאֶל־מַכְאוֹבve/EL-makh/OVand of the pain ofחֲלָלֶיךָcha/la/LE/khathose You have woundedיְסַפֵּרוּ׃ye/sap/PE/ruthey tell

    For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.

28. 28

    תְּנָה־עָוֺןte/NA-a/VONadd iniquityעַל־עֲוֺנָםal-a/vo/NAMto their iniquityוְאַל־יָבֹאוּve/AL-ya/VO/uand let them not comeבְּצִדְקָתֶךָ׃be/tsid/ka/TE/khainto Your righteousness

    Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.

29. 29

    יִמָּחוּyim/ma/CHUlet them be blotted outמִסֵּפֶרmis/SE/ferfrom the book ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeוְעִםve/IMand withצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousאַל־יִכָּתֵבוּ׃al-yik/ka/TE/vulet them not be written

    Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

30. 30

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut Iעָנִיa/NIam poorוְכוֹאֵבve/kho/EVand in painיְשׁוּעָתְךָye/shu/a/te/KHAYour salvationאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO Godתְּשַׂגְּבֵנִי׃te/sag/ge/VE/niset me on high

    But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.

31. 31

    אֲהַלְלָהa/hal/LAI will praiseשֵׁם־אֱלֹהִיםshem-e/lo/HIMthe name of Godבְּשִׁירbe/SHIRin a songוַאֲגַדְּלֶנּוּva/a/gad/de/LEN/nuand will magnify Himבְתוֹדָה׃ve/to/DAwith thanksgiving

    I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

32. 32

    וְתִיטַבve/ti/TAVand it will pleaseלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaithe LORDמִשּׁוֹרmish/SHORmore than an oxפָּרpara bullמַקְרִןmak/RINthat has hornsמַפְרִיס׃maf/RISand hoofs

    This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.

33. 33

    רָאוּra/Uhave seenעֲנָוִיםa/na/VIMthe humbleיִשְׂמָחוּyis/MA/chulet be gladדֹּרְשֵׁיdor/SHEO you who seekאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוִיחִיvi/CHIand let liveלְבַבְכֶם׃le/vav/KHEMyour heart

    The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.

34. 34

    כִּי־שֹׁמֵעַki-sho/ME/afor hearsאֶל־אֶבְיוֹנִיםel-ev/yo/NIMthe needyיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְאֶת־אֲסִירָיוve/ET-a/si/RAYVand His prisonersלֹאlonotבָזָה׃va/ZAdoes He despise

    For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.

35. 35

    יְהַלְלוּהוּye/hal/LU/hulet praise Himשָׁמַיִםsha/MA/yimthe heavensוָאָרֶץva/A/retsand the earthיַמִּיםyam/MIMthe seasוְכׇל־רֹמֵשׂve/KHOL-ro/MESand everything that movesבָּם׃bamin them

    Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein.

36. 36

    כִּיkiforאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodיוֹשִׁיעַyo/SHI/awill saveצִיּוֹןTsiy/YONZionוְיִבְנֶהve/yiv/NEand will buildעָרֵיa/REthe cities ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוְיָשְׁבוּve/ya/she/VUand they shall dwellשָׁםshamthereוִירֵשׁוּהָ׃vi/re/SHU/haand possess it

    For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.

37. 37

    וְזֶרַעve/ZE/raand the seed ofעֲבָדָיוa/va/DAYVHis servantsיִנְחָלוּהָyin/cha/LU/hashall inherit itוְאֹהֲבֵיve/o/ha/VEand those who loveשְׁמוֹshe/MOHis nameיִשְׁכְּנוּ־בָהּ׃yish/ke/NU-vashall dwell in it

    The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.
