   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianמִזְמוֹרa psalmלְדָוִד׃of David

   To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

2. 2

   שְׁמַע־אֱלֹהִיםhear O Godקוֹלִיmy voiceבְשִׂיחִיin my prayerמִפַּחַדfrom fearאוֹיֵבthe enemyתִּצֹּרpreserveחַיָּי׃my life

   Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

   תַּסְתִּירֵנִיhide meמִסּוֹדfrom the secret counsel ofמְרֵעִיםthe wickedמֵרִגְשַׁתfrom the tumult ofפֹּעֲלֵיworkers ofאָוֶן׃iniquity

   Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

   אֲשֶׁרwhichשָׁנְנוּhave whettedכַחֶרֶבlike a swordלְשׁוֹנָםtheir tongueדָּרְכוּthey aimחִצָּםtheir arrowsדָּבָרwordsמָר׃bitter

   Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

   לִירֹתto shootבַּמִּסְתָּרִיםin secretתָּםthe blamelessפִּתְאֹםsuddenlyיֹרֻהוּthey shoot at himוְלֹאand notיִירָאוּ׃do they fear

   That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

   יְחַזְּקוּ־לָמוֹthey encourage themselvesדָּבָרin a matterרָעevilיְסַפְּרוּthey speak ofלִטְמוֹןlayingמוֹקְשִׁיםsnaresאָמְרוּthey saidמִיwhoיִרְאֶה־לָּמוֹ׃shall see them

   They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?

   יַחְפְּשׂוּ־עוֹלֹתthey search out iniquitiesתַּמְנוּwe have accomplishedחֵפֶשׂa searchמְחֻפָּשׂdiligently devisedוְקֶרֶבand the inward thought ofאִישׁa manוְלֵבand the heart isעָמֹק׃deep

   They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.

8. 8

   וַיֹּרֵםbut shoots at themאֱלֹהִיםGodחֵץan arrowפִּתְאוֹםsuddenlyהָיוּareמַכּוֹתָם׃their wounds

   But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

9. 9

   וַיַּכְשִׁילוּהוּso they make to stumbleעָלֵימוֹagainst themselvesלְשׁוֹנָםtheir own tongueיִתְנֹדְדוּshall shake the headכׇּל־רֹאֵהall who seeבָם׃in them

   So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.

10. 10

    וַיִּירְאוּand shall fearכׇּל־אָדָםall menוַיַּגִּידוּand shall declareפֹּעַלthe work ofאֱלֹהִיםGodוּמַעֲשֵׂהוּand His doingהִשְׂכִּילוּ׃they wisely consider

    And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.

11. 11

    יִשְׂמַחshall be gladצַדִּיקthe just manבַּיהֹוָהin the LORDוְחָסָהand shall trustבוֹin Himוְיִתְהַלְלוּand shall gloryכׇּל־יִשְׁרֵי־לֵב׃all the upright in heart

    The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
