   מִזְמוֹרa psalmלְדָוִדof Davidבִּהְיוֹתוֹwhen he wasבְּמִדְבַּרin the wilderness ofיְהוּדָה׃Judah

   A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.

2. 2

   אֱלֹהִיםO Godאֵלִיmy GodאַתָּהYou areאֲשַׁחֲרֶךָּearnestly I seek Youצָמְאָהit thirstsלְךָfor Youנַפְשִׁיmy soulכָּמַהּlongsלְךָfor Youבְשָׂרִיmy fleshבְּאֶרֶץ־צִיָּהin a dry landוְעָיֵףand wearyבְּלִי־מָיִם׃without water

   O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

   כֵּןsoבַּקֹּדֶשׁin the sanctuaryחֲזִיתִךָhave I beheld Youלִרְאוֹתto seeעֻזְּךָYour powerוּכְבוֹדֶךָ׃and Your glory

   To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

   כִּי־טוֹבbecause is betterחַסְדְּךָYour mercyמֵחַיִּיםmore than lifeשְׂפָתַיmy lipsיְשַׁבְּחוּנְךָ׃shall praise You

   Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

5. 5

   כֵּןthusאֲבָרֶכְךָwill I bless Youבְחַיָּיwhile I liveבְּשִׁמְךָin Your nameאֶשָּׂאI lift upכַפָּי׃my hands

   Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

6. 6

   כְּמוֹlikeחֵלֶבwith marrowוָדֶשֶׁןand fatnessתִּשְׂבַּעis satisfiedנַפְשִׁיmy soulוְשִׂפְתֵיand with lips ofרְנָנוֹתjoyful songיְהַלֶּל־פִּי׃my mouth praises You

   My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

   אִם־זְכַרְתִּיךָwhen I remember Youעַל־יְצוּעָיupon my bedבְּאַשְׁמֻרוֹתin the night watchesאֶהְגֶּה־בָּךְ׃I meditate on You

   When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

8. 8

   כִּי־הָיִיתָbecause You have beenעֶזְרָתָהa helpלִּיto meוּבְצֵלand in the shadow ofכְּנָפֶיךָYour wingsאֲרַנֵּן׃I will rejoice

   Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

   דָּבְקָהclingsנַפְשִׁיmy soulאַחֲרֶיךָto Youבִּיmeתָּמְכָהupholdsיְמִינֶךָ׃Your right hand

   My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

10. 10

    וְהֵמָּהbut those whoלְשׁוֹאָהto destroy itיְבַקְשׁוּseekנַפְשִׁיmy soulיָבֹאוּshall goבְּתַחְתִּיּוֹתinto the lower parts ofהָאָרֶץ׃the earth

    But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

11. 11

    יַגִּירֻהוּthey shall be given overעַל־יְדֵי־חָרֶבto the power of the swordמְנָתa portion forשֻׁעָלִיםfoxesיִהְיוּ׃they shall be

    They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.

12. 12

    וְהַמֶּלֶךְbut the kingיִשְׂמַחshall rejoiceבֵּאלֹהִיםin Godיִתְהַלֵּלshall gloryכׇּל־הַנִּשְׁבָּעeveryone who swearsבּוֹby Himכִּיforיִסָּכֵרshall be stoppedפִּיthe mouth ofדוֹבְרֵי־שָׁקֶר׃those who speak lies

    But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
