1. 1

   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianעַל־שׁוּשַׁןupon Shushan-עֵדוּתeduthמִכְתָּםa miktamלְדָוִדof Davidלְלַמֵּד׃to teach

   To the chief Musician upon Shushan-eduth, Michtam of David, to teach;

   בְּהַצּוֹתוֹwhen he struggled withאֶת־אֲרַםAram-נַהֲרַיִםnaharaimוְאֶת־אֲרַםand AramצוֹבָהZobahוַיָּשׇׁבand he returnedיוֹאָבJoabוַיַּךְand he smoteאֶת־אֱדוֹםEdomבְּגֵיא־מֶלַחin the valley of saltשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרtwelveאָלֶף׃thousand

   when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand.

   אֱלֹהִיםO Godזְנַחְתָּנוּyou have rejected usפְרַצְתָּנוּYou have shattered usאָנַפְתָּYou have been angryתְּשׁוֹבֵבO turn Yourself againלָנוּ׃to us

   O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.

   הִרְעַשְׁתָּהYou have made to trembleאֶרֶץthe earthפְּצַמְתָּהּYou have broken itרְפָהhealשְׁבָרֶיהָits breachesכִי־מָטָה׃for it totters

   Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.

   הִרְאִיתָYou have shownעַמְּךָYour peopleקָשָׁהhard thingsהִשְׁקִיתָנוּYou have made us drinkיַיִןwineתַּרְעֵלָה׃of staggering

   Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.

   נָתַתָּהYou have givenלִּירֵאֶיךָto those who fear Youנֵּסa bannerלְהִתְנוֹסֵסthat it may be displayedמִפְּנֵיbecause ofקֹשֶׁטthe truthסֶלָה׃Selah

   Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.

   לְמַעַןthatיֵחָלְצוּןmay be deliveredיְדִידֶיךָYour beloved onesהוֹשִׁיעָהsaveיְמִינְךָwith Your right hand[וַעֲנֵנִי]׃and answer me

   That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.

   אֱלֹהִיםGodדִּבֶּרspokeבְּקׇדְשׁוֹin His holinessאֶעְלֹזָהI will rejoiceאֲחַלְּקָהI will divide upשְׁכֶםShechemוְעֵמֶקand the valley ofסֻכּוֹתSuccothאֲמַדֵּד׃I will measure out

   God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

   לִיto meגִלְעָדGileadוְלִיand mine isמְנַשֶּׁהManassehוְאֶפְרַיִםand Ephraimמָעוֹזis the strength ofרֹאשִׁיmy headיְהוּדָהJudahמְחֹקְקִי׃is my scepter

   Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;

    מוֹאָבMoabסִירthe pot ofרַחְצִיmy washingעַל־אֱדוֹםupon Edomאַשְׁלִיךְwill I castנַעֲלִיmy shoeעָלַיover meפְּלֶשֶׁתPhilistiaהִתְרוֹעָעִי׃cry aloud

    Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.

11. 11

    מִיwhoיֹבִלֵנִיwill bring me intoעִירthe cityמָצוֹרfortifiedמִיwhoנָחַנִיwill lead meעַד־אֱדוֹם׃unto Edom

    Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?

12. 12

    הֲלֹא־אַתָּהhave not YouאֱלֹהִיםO Godזְנַחְתָּנוּyou have rejected usוְלֹא־תֵצֵאand You go not forthאֱלֹהִיםO Godבְּצִבְאוֹתֵינוּ׃with our armies

    Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?

13. 13

    הָבָה־לָּנוּgive usעֶזְרָתhelpמִצָּרagainst the foeוְשָׁוְאfor vain isתְּשׁוּעַתthe help ofאָדָם׃man

    Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

14. 14

    בֵּאלֹהִיםin Godנַעֲשֶׂה־חָיִלwe shall do valiantlyוְהוּאand He it is whoיָבוּסwill tread downצָרֵינוּ׃our enemies

    Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
