   To the chief Musician upon Shushan-eduth, Michtam of David, to teach;

   בְּהַצּוֹתוֹbe/hats/tso/TOwhen he fought withאֶת־אֲרַםet-A/RAMAram-נַהֲרַיִםna/ha/RA/yimnaharaimוְאֶת־אֲרַםve/ET-a/RAMand AramצוֹבָהTso/VAZobahוַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand returnedיוֹאָבYo/AVJoabוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand he struckאֶת־אֱדוֹםet-E/DOMEdomבְּגֵיא־מֶלַחbe/GE-ME/lachin the valley of saltשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרshe/NEM-a/SARtwelveאָלֶף׃A/lefthousand

   when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand.

   אֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO Godזְנַחְתָּנוּze/nach/TA/nuYou have rejected usפְרַצְתָּנוּfe/rats/TA/nuYou have shattered usאָנַפְתָּa/NAF/taYou have been angryתְּשׁוֹבֵבte/sho/VEVrestoreלָנוּ׃LA/nuto us

   O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.

   הִרְעַשְׁתָּהhir/ASH/taYou have made shakeאֶרֶץE/retsthe earthפְּצַמְתָּהּpe/tsam/TAYou have split it openרְפָהre/FAhealשְׁבָרֶיהָshe/va/RE/haits breachesכִי־מָטָה׃khi-MA/tafor it totters

   Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.

   הִרְאִיתָhir/I/taYou have shownעַמְּךָam/me/KHAYour peopleקָשָׁהka/SHAhard thingsהִשְׁקִיתָנוּhish/ki/TA/nuYou have made us drinkיַיִןYA/yinwineתַּרְעֵלָה׃tar/e/LAof staggering

   Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.

   נָתַתָּהna/TAT/taYou have givenלִּירֵאֶיךָli/re/E/khato those who fear Youנֵּסnesa bannerלְהִתְנוֹסֵסle/hit/no/SESthat it may be displayedמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofקֹשֶׁטKO/shetthe truthסֶלָה׃SE/laSelah

   Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.

   לְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיֵחָלְצוּןye/cha/le/TSUNmay be deliveredיְדִידֶיךָye/di/DE/khaYour beloved onesהוֹשִׁיעָהho/SHI/asaveיְמִינְךָye/mi/ne/KHAwith Your right hand[וַעֲנֵנִי]׃va/a/NE/niand answer me

   That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.

   אֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeבְּקׇדְשׁוֹbe/kod/SHOin His holinessאֶעְלֹזָהe/LO/zaI will exultאֲחַלְּקָהa/chal/le/KAI will divide upשְׁכֶםShe/KHEMShechemוְעֵמֶקve/E/mekand the valley ofסֻכּוֹתSuk/KOTSuccothאֲמַדֵּד׃a/mad/DEDI will measure out

   God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

   לִיlimine isגִלְעָדGil/ADGileadוְלִיve/LIand mine isמְנַשֶּׁהMe/nash/SHEManassehוְאֶפְרַיִםve/Ef/RA/yimand Ephraimמָעוֹזma/OZthe stronghold ofרֹאשִׁיro/SHImy headיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahמְחֹקְקִי׃me/CHOK/kiis my scepter

   Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;

    מוֹאָבMo/AVMoabסִירsirthe pot ofרַחְצִיrach/TSImy washingעַל־אֱדוֹםal-E/DOMupon Edomאַשְׁלִיךְash/LIKHwill I castנַעֲלִיna/a/LImy shoeעָלַיa/LAYbecause of meפְּלֶשֶׁתPe/LE/shetPhilistiaהִתְרוֹעָעִי׃hit/ro/a/Ishout

    Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.

    מִיmiwhoיֹבִלֵנִיyo/vi/le/NIwill bring me intoעִירirthe cityמָצוֹרma/TSORfortifiedמִיmiwhoנָחַנִיna/CHA/niwill lead meעַד־אֱדוֹם׃ad-E/DOMto Edom

    Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?

12. 12

    הֲלֹא־אַתָּהha/LO-at/TAhave not Youאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO Godזְנַחְתָּנוּze/nach/TA/nuwho have rejected usוְלֹא־תֵצֵאve/LO-te/TSEand do not go outאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO Godבְּצִבְאוֹתֵינוּ׃be/tsiv/o/TE/nuwith our armies

    Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?

13. 13

    הָבָה־לָּנוּHA/va-LA/nugive usעֶזְרָתez/RAThelpמִצָּרmits/TSARagainst the adversaryוְשָׁוְאve/SHAVfor vain isתְּשׁוּעַתte/shu/ATthe help ofאָדָם׃a/DAMman

    Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

    בֵּאלֹהִיםbe/lo/HIMin Godנַעֲשֶׂה־חָיִלna/a/SE-CHA/yilwe shall do valiantlyוְהוּאve/HUfor Heיָבוּסya/VUSwill tread downצָרֵינוּ׃tsa/RE/nuour enemies

    Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
