   הַאֲזִינָהha/a/ZI/nagive earאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO Godתְּפִלָּתִיte/fil/la/TImy prayerוְאַל־תִּתְעַלַּםve/AL-tit/al/LAMand do not hide Yourselfמִתְּחִנָּתִי׃mit/te/chin/na/TIfrom my supplication

   Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.

   הַקְשִׁיבָהhak/SHI/vaattendלִּיlito meוַעֲנֵנִיva/a/NE/niand answer meאָרִידa/RIDI am restlessבְּשִׂיחִיbe/si/CHIin my complaintוְאָהִימָה׃ve/a/HI/maand I moan

   Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;

   מִקּוֹלmik/KOLat the voice ofאוֹיֵבo/YEVthe enemyמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofעָקַתa/KATthe pressure ofרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedכִּי־יָמִיטוּki-ya/MI/tufor they bring downעָלַיa/LAYupon meאָוֶןA/veniniquityוּבְאַףu/ve/AFand in angerיִשְׂטְמוּנִי׃yis/te/MU/nithey bear a grudge against me

   Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.

   My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.

   יִרְאָהyir/Afearוָרַעַדva/RA/adand tremblingיָבֹאya/VOcomesבִיviupon meוַתְּכַסֵּנִיvat/te/khas/SE/niand covers meפַּלָּצוּת׃pal/la/TSUThorror

   Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

   וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidמִי־יִתֶּן־לִיmi-yit/TEN-lioh that I hadאֵבֶרE/verwingsכַּיּוֹנָהkay/yo/NAlike the doveאָעוּפָהa/U/faI would fly awayוְאֶשְׁכֹּנָה׃ve/esh/KO/naand be at rest

   And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאַרְחִיקar/CHIKI would go far awayנְדֹדne/DODwanderingאָלִיןa/LINI would lodgeבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessסֶלָה׃SE/laSelah

   Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.

   אָחִישָׁהa/CHI/shaI would hastenמִפְלָטmif/LATa shelterלִיlifor myselfמֵרוּחַme/RU/achfrom the windסֹעָהso/Astormyמִסָּעַר׃mis/SA/arfrom the tempest

   I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.

    בַּלַּעbal/LAconfuseאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO Lordפַּלַּגpal/LAGdivideלְשׁוֹנָםle/sho/NAMtheir tonguesכִּי־רָאִיתִיki-ra/I/tibecause I sawחָמָסcha/MASviolenceוְרִיבve/RIVand strifeבָּעִיר׃ba/IRin the city

    Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

    יוֹמָםyo/MAMby dayוָלַיְלָהva/LAY/laand nightיְסוֹבְבֻהָye/sov/VU/hathey go around itעַל־חוֹמֹתֶיהָal-cho/mo/TE/haupon its wallsוְאָוֶןve/A/venand mischiefוְעָמָלve/a/MALand troubleבְּקִרְבָּהּ׃be/kir/BAare in the midst of it

    Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.

    הַוּוֹתhav/VOTdestruction isבְּקִרְבָּהּbe/kir/BAin the midst of itוְלֹא־יָמִישׁve/LO-ya/MISHand does not departמֵרְחֹבָהּmer/cho/VAfrom her squareתֹּךְtokhoppressionוּמִרְמָה׃u/mir/MAand fraud

    Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.

    כִּיkiforלֹא־אוֹיֵבlo-o/YEVit was not an enemyיְחָרְפֵנִיye/cha/re/FE/niwho reproaches meוְאֶשָּׂאve/es/SAthen I could have borne itלֹא־מְשַׂנְאִיlo-me/san/Inor was it one who hated meעָלַיa/LAYagainst meהִגְדִּילhig/DILwho magnified himselfוְאֶסָּתֵרve/es/sa/TERthen I could hideמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nufrom him

    For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

    וְאַתָּהve/at/TAbut it was youאֱנוֹשׁe/NOSHa manכְּעֶרְכִּיke/er/KImy equalאַלּוּפִיal/lu/FImy companionוּמְיֻדָּעִי׃u/me/yud/DA/iand my familiar friend

    But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwe whoיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherנַמְתִּיקnam/TIKwe took sweetסוֹדsodcounselבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodנְהַלֵּךְne/hal/LEKHwe walkedבְּרָגֶשׁ׃be/RA/geshwith the throng

    We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

    (ישימות)yashayamavat[יַשִּׁיyash/SHIlet comeמָוֶת]MA/vetdeathעָלֵימוֹa/LE/moon themיֵרְדוּyer/DUlet them go downשְׁאוֹלShe/OLinto Sheolחַיִּיםchay/YIMaliveכִּי־רָעוֹתki-ra/OTfor evils areבִּמְגוּרָםbim/gu/RAMin their dwellingבְּקִרְבָּם׃be/kir/BAMamong them

    Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

17. 17

    אֲנִיa/NIas for meאֶל־אֱלֹהִיםel-e/lo/HIMto Godאֶקְרָאek/RAI will callוַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDיוֹשִׁיעֵנִי׃yo/shi/E/nishall save me

    As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.

18. 18

    עֶרֶבE/reveveningוָבֹקֶרva/VO/kerand morningוְצׇהֳרַיִםve/tso/ho/RA/yimand at noonאָשִׂיחָהa/SI/chaI complainוְאֶהֱמֶהve/e/he/MEand cry aloudוַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand He hearsקוֹלִי׃ko/LImy voice

    Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

    פָּדָהpa/DAHe has redeemedבְשָׁלוֹםve/sha/LOMin peaceנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulמִקְּרׇב־לִיmik/ke/ROV-lifrom the battle against meכִּי־בְרַבִּיםki-ve/rab/BIMfor in manyהָיוּha/YUthey wereעִמָּדִי׃im/ma/DIstriving with me

    He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.

20. 20

    יִשְׁמַעyish/MAshall hearאֵלelGodוְיַעֲנֵםve/ya/a/NEMand answer themוְיֹשֵׁבve/yo/SHEVHe who sits enthronedקֶדֶםKE/demof oldסֶלָהSE/laSelahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאֵיןenthere is noחֲלִיפוֹתcha/li/FOTchangeלָמוֹLA/mowith themוְלֹאve/LOand notיָרְאוּya/re/Udo they fearאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

21. 21

    שָׁלַחsha/LACHhe put forthיָדָיוya/DAYVhis handsבִּשְׁלֹמָיוbish/lo/MAYVagainst those at peace with himחִלֵּלchil/LELhe has brokenבְּרִיתוֹ׃be/ri/TOhis covenant

    He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.

    חָלְקוּcha/le/KUsmooth wereמַחְמָאֹתmach/ma/OTthe butter words ofפִּיוpivhis mouthוּקְרָב־לִבּוֹu/ke/RAV-lib/BObut war was his heartרַכּוּrak/KUsofter wereדְבָרָיוde/va/RAYVhis wordsמִשֶּׁמֶןmish/SHE/menthan oilוְהֵמָּהve/HEM/mayet they wereפְתִחוֹת׃fe/ti/CHOTdrawn swords

    The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

    הַשְׁלֵךְhash/LEKHcastעַל־יְהֹוָהal-Adonaiupon the LORDיְהָבְךָye/ha/ve/KHAyour burdenוְהוּאve/HUand Heיְכַלְכְּלֶךָye/khal/ke/LE/khashall sustain youלֹא־יִתֵּןlo-yit/TENHe will not allowלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverמוֹטmotto be movedלַצַּדִּיק׃lats/tsad/DIKthe righteous

    Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

24. 24

    וְאַתָּהve/at/TAbut Youאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMO Godתּוֹרִדֵםto/ri/DEMwill bring them downלִבְאֵרliv/ERto the well ofשַׁחַתSHA/chatthe pitאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofדָמִיםda/MIMbloodוּמִרְמָהu/mir/MAand deceitלֹא־יֶחֱצוּlo-ye/che/TSUshall not live out halfיְמֵיהֶםye/me/HEMtheir daysוַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut Iאֶבְטַח־בָּךְ׃ev/TACH-bakhwill trust in You

    But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
