   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianעַל־יוֹנַתupon Yonath-אֵלֶםelem-רְחֹקִיםrehokimלְדָוִדof Davidמִכְתָּםa miktamבֶּאֱחֹזwhen seizedאוֹתוֹhimפְלִשְׁתִּיםthe Philistinesבְּגַת׃in Gath

   To the chief Musician upon Jonath-elem-rechokim, Michtam of David, when the Philistines took him in Gath.

   חׇנֵּנִיbe gracious to meאֱלֹהִיםO Godכִּי־שְׁאָפַנִיfor would swallow me upאֱנוֹשׁmanכׇּל־הַיּוֹםall the dayלֹחֵםthe foemanיִלְחָצֵנִי׃oppresses me

   Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.

   שָׁאֲפוּthey would swallow me upשׁוֹרְרַיmy enemiesכׇּל־הַיּוֹםall the dayכִּי־רַבִּיםfor many are theyלֹחֲמִיםwho fightלִיagainst meמָרוֹם׃O Most High

   Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.

   יוֹםin the dayאִירָאI am afraidאֲנִיIאֵלֶיךָin Youאֶבְטָח׃will I trust

   What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

   בֵּאלֹהִיםin GodאֲהַלֵּלI will praiseדְּבָרוֹHis wordבֵּאלֹהִיםin GodבָּטַחְתִּיI trustלֹאnotאִירָאshall I fearמַה־יַּעֲשֶׂהwhat can doבָשָׂרfleshלִי׃to me

   In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

   כׇּל־הַיּוֹםall the dayדְּבָרַיmy wordsיְעַצֵּבוּthey wrestעָלַיagainst meכׇּל־מַחְשְׁבֹתָםall their thoughts areלָרָע׃for evil

   Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.

   יָגוּרוּthey gather themselves[יִצְפּוֹנוּ]they hide themselvesהֵמָּהtheyעֲקֵבַיmy stepsיִשְׁמֹרוּthey markכַּאֲשֶׁרasקִוּוּthey wait forנַפְשִׁי׃my soul

   They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

   עַל־אָוֶןby iniquityפַּלֶּט־לָמוֹshall they escapeבְּאַףin Your angerעַמִּיםpeoplesהוֹרֵדcast downאֱלֹהִים׃O God

   Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.

9. 9

   נֹדִיmy wanderingsסָפַרְתָּהYou have countedאָתָּהYouשִׂימָהputדִמְעָתִיmy tearsבְנֹאדֶךָin Your bottleהֲלֹאis it notבְּסִפְרָתֶךָ׃in Your book

   Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?

    אָזthenיָשׁוּבוּshall turn backאוֹיְבַיmy enemiesאָחוֹרbackבְּיוֹםin the day ofאֶקְרָאI cryזֶה־יָדַעְתִּיthis I knowכִּי־אֱלֹהִיםbecause Godלִי׃is for me

    When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

11. 11

    בֵּאלֹהִיםin GodאֲהַלֵּלI will praiseדָּבָרHis wordבַּיהֹוָהin the LORDאֲהַלֵּלI will praiseדָּבָר׃His word

    In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.

12. 12

    בֵּאלֹהִיםin GodבָּטַחְתִּיI trustלֹּאnotאִירָאshall I fearמַה־יַּעֲשֶׂהwhat can doאָדָםmanלִי׃to me

    In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.

13. 13

    עָלַיupon me areאֱלֹהִיםO GodנְדָרֶיךָYour vowsאֲשַׁלֵּםI will payתּוֹדֹתthank offeringsלָךְ׃to You

    Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.

14. 14

    כִּיforהִצַּלְתָּYou have deliveredנַפְשִׁיmy soulמִמָּוֶתfrom deathהֲלֹאyeaרַגְלַיmy feetמִדֶּחִיfrom fallingלְהִתְהַלֵּךְto walkלִפְנֵיbeforeאֱלֹהִיםGodבְּאוֹרin the light ofהַחַיִּים׃the living

    For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
