   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianעַל־שֹׁשַׁנִּיםupon Shoshannimלִבְנֵי־קֹרַחunto the sons of Korahמַשְׂכִּילa maskilשִׁירa songיְדִידֹת׃of loves

   To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves.

2. 2

   רָחַשׁoverflowsלִבִּיmy heartדָּבָרa matterטוֹבgoodlyאֹמֵרrecitingאָנִיI amמַעֲשַׂיmy versesלְמֶלֶךְfor the kingלְשׁוֹנִיmy tongue isעֵטthe pen ofסוֹפֵרa writerמָהִיר׃ready

   My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

   יׇפְיָפִיתָyou are fairerמִבְּנֵיthan the sons ofאָדָםmanהוּצַקis pouredחֵןgraceבְּשִׂפְתוֹתֶיךָinto your lipsעַל־כֵּןthereforeבֵּרַכְךָhas blessed youאֱלֹהִיםGodלְעוֹלָם׃forever

   Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

   חֲגוֹר־חַרְבְּךָgird your swordעַל־יָרֵךְupon your thighגִּבּוֹרO mighty oneהוֹדְךָyour gloryוַהֲדָרֶךָ׃and your majesty

   Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.

   וַהֲדָרְךָand your majestyצְלַחprosperouslyרְכַבride onעַל־דְּבַר־אֱמֶתin the cause of truthוְעַנְוָה־צֶדֶקand meekness and righteousnessוְתוֹרְךָand let teach youנוֹרָאוֹתawesome deedsיְמִינֶךָ׃your right hand

   And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

6. 6

   חִצֶּיךָyour arrowsשְׁנוּנִיםare sharpעַמִּיםthe peoplesתַּחְתֶּיךָbeneath youיִפְּלוּfallבְּלֵבin the heart ofאוֹיְבֵיthe enemies ofהַמֶּלֶךְ׃the king

   Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.

7. 7

   כִּסְאֲךָyour throneאֱלֹהִיםO Godעוֹלָםforeverוָעֶדand everשֵׁבֶטthe scepter ofמִישֹׁרequityשֵׁבֶטthe scepter ofמַלְכוּתֶךָ׃your kingdom

   Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.

8. 8

   אָהַבְתָּyou loveצֶּדֶקrighteousnessוַתִּשְׂנָא־רֶשַׁעand you have hated wickednessעַל־כֵּןthereforeמְשָׁחֲךָhas anointed youאֱלֹהִיםGodאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godשֶׁמֶןwith the oil ofשָׂשׂוֹןgladnessמֵחֲבֵרֶךָ׃above your fellows

   Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

9. 9

   מֹר־וַאֲהָלוֹתare myrrh and aloesקְצִיעוֹתcassiaכׇּל־בִּגְדֹתֶיךָall your garmentsמִן־הֵיכְלֵיout of the palaces ofשֵׁןivoryמִנִּיstringed instrumentsשִׂמְּחוּךָ׃have made you glad

   All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.

10. 10

    בְּנוֹתthe daughters ofמְלָכִיםkingsבְּיִקְּרוֹתֶיךָare among your honorable womenנִצְּבָהstandsשֵׁגַלthe queenלִימִינְךָat your right handבְּכֶתֶםin the gold ofאוֹפִיר׃Ophir

    Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

11. 11

    שִׁמְעִי־בַתhear O daughterוּרְאִיand considerוְהַטִּיand inclineאׇזְנֵךְyour earוְשִׁכְחִיand forgetעַמֵּךְyour peopleוּבֵיתand the house ofאָבִיךְ׃your father

    Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;

12. 12

    וְיִתְאָוso shall desireהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingיׇפְיֵךְyour beautyכִּי־הוּאfor he isאֲדֹנַיִךְyour lordוְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִי־לוֹ׃and do homage to him

    So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.

13. 13

    וּבַת־צֹרand O daughter of Tyreבְּמִנְחָהwith a grain offeringפָּנַיִךְyour favorיְחַלּוּshall entreatעֲשִׁירֵיthe rich amongעָם׃the people

    And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.

14. 14

    כׇּל־כְּבוּדָּהis all gloriousבַת־מֶלֶךְthe king's daughterפְּנִימָהwithinמִמִּשְׁבְּצוֹתwrought ofזָהָבgoldלְבוּשָׁהּ׃is her clothing

    The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.

15. 15

    לִרְקָמוֹתin embroidered garmentsתּוּבַלshe shall be broughtלַמֶּלֶךְto the kingבְּתוּלוֹתvirginsאַחֲרֶיהָthat follow herרֵעוֹתֶיהָher companionsמוּבָאוֹתshall be broughtלָךְ׃to you

    She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.

16. 16

    תּוּבַלְנָהthey shall be ledבִּשְׂמָחֹתwith gladnessוָגִילand rejoicingתְּבֹאֶינָהthey shall enterבְּהֵיכַלinto the palace ofמֶלֶךְ׃the king

    With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.

17. 17

    תַּחַתinstead ofאֲבֹתֶיךָyour fathersיִהְיוּshall beבָנֶיךָyour childrenתְּשִׁיתֵמוֹyou shall make themלְשָׂרִיםprincesבְּכׇל־הָאָרֶץ׃in all the earth

    Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.

18. 18

    אַזְכִּירָהI will make to be rememberedשִׁמְךָyour nameבְּכׇל־דֹּרin all generationsוָדֹרto generationעַל־כֵּןthereforeעַמִּיםthe peoplesיְהוֹדוּךָshall praise youלְעֹלָםfor everוָעֶד׃and ever

    I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.
