   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianלְדָוִדof Davidמִזְמוֹר׃a psalm

   To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

2. 2

   קַוֺּהwaitingקִוִּיתִיI waited forיְהֹוָהthe LORDוַיֵּטand He inclinedאֵלַיto meוַיִּשְׁמַעand He heardשַׁוְעָתִי׃my cry

   I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

   וַיַּעֲלֵנִיand He brought me upמִבּוֹרout of the pit ofשָׁאוֹןdestructionמִטִּיטout of the miryהַיָּוֵןclayוַיָּקֶםand He setעַל־סֶלַעupon a rockרַגְלַיmy feetכּוֹנֵןHe establishedאֲשֻׁרָי׃my steps

   He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

   וַיִּתֵּןand He has putבְּפִיin my mouthשִׁירa songחָדָשׁnewתְּהִלָּהa praiseלֵאלֹהֵינוּto our Godיִרְאוּshall seeרַבִּיםmanyוְיִירָאוּand shall fearוְיִבְטְחוּand shall trustבַּיהֹוָה׃in the LORD

   And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

   אַשְׁרֵי־הַגֶּבֶרblessed is the manאֲשֶׁר־שָׂםwho makesיְהֹוָהthe LORDמִבְטַחוֹhis trustוְלֹא־פָנָהand turns notאֶל־רְהָבִיםto the proudוְשָׂטֵיnor to such as turn aside toכָזָב׃lies

   Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

   רַבּוֹתmanyעָשִׂיתָYou have doneאַתָּהYouיְהֹוָהO LORDאֱלֹהַיmy GodנִפְלְאֹתֶיךָYour marvelous worksוּמַחְשְׁבֹתֶיךָand Your thoughtsאֵלֵינוּtoward usאֵיןthere is noעֲרֹךְcomparingאֵלֶיךָto Youאַגִּידָהif I would declareוַאֲדַבֵּרָהand speakעָצְמוּthey are too numerousמִסַּפֵּר׃than can be numbered

   Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

   זֶבַחsacrificeוּמִנְחָהand a grain offeringלֹא־חָפַצְתָּYou did not desireאׇזְנַיִםearsכָּרִיתָYou have openedלִּיfor meעוֹלָהa burnt offeringוַחֲטָאָהand sin offeringלֹאnotשָׁאָלְתָּ׃have You required

   Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

8. 8

   אָזthenאָמַרְתִּיI saidהִנֵּה־בָאתִיbehold I cameבִּמְגִלַּת־סֵפֶרin the scroll of a bookכָּתוּבwrittenעָלָי׃concerning me

   Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

9. 9

   לַעֲשׂוֹת־רְצוֹנְךָto do your willאֱלֹהַיO my GodחָפָצְתִּיI delightוְתוֹרָתְךָand Your lawבְּתוֹךְamongמֵעָי׃my inward parts

   I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

10. 10

    בִּשַּׂרְתִּיI have preachedצֶדֶקrighteousnessבְּקָהָלin the congregationרָבgreatהִנֵּהbeholdשְׂפָתַיmy lipsלֹאnotאֶכְלָאdid I restrainיְהֹוָהO LORDאַתָּהYouיָדָעְתָּ׃You know

    I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

11. 11

    צִדְקָתְךָYour righteousnessלֹא־כִסִּיתִיI have not hiddenבְּתוֹךְwithinלִבִּיmy heartאֱמוּנָתְךָYour faithfulnessוּתְשׁוּעָתְךָand your salvationאָמָרְתִּיI have declaredלֹא־כִחַדְתִּיI have not concealedחַסְדְּךָYour mercyוַאֲמִתְּךָand Your truthלְקָהָלfrom the congregationרָב׃great

    I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

12. 12

    אַתָּהYouיְהֹוָהO LORDלֹא־תִכְלָאwithhold notרַחֲמֶיךָYour tender merciesמִמֶּנִּיfrom meחַסְדְּךָYour mercyוַאֲמִתְּךָand Your truthתָּמִידcontinuallyיִצְּרוּנִי׃preserve me

    Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

13. 13

    כִּיforאָפְפוּ־עָלַיhave compassed me aboutרָעוֹתevilsעַד־אֵיןbeyondמִסְפָּרnumberהִשִּׂיגוּנִיthey have overtaken meעֲוֺנֹתַיmy iniquitiesוְלֹא־יָכֹלְתִּיso that I am not ableלִרְאוֹתto seeעָצְמוּthey are too numerousמִשַּׂעֲרוֹתmore than the hairs ofרֹאשִׁיmy headוְלִבִּיand my heartעֲזָבָנִי׃has failed me

    For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

14. 14

    רְצֵהbe pleasedיְהֹוָהO LORDלְהַצִּילֵנִיto deliver meיְהֹוָהO LORDלְעֶזְרָתִיto my helpחוּשָׁה׃make haste

    Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

15. 15

    יֵבֹשׁוּlet be ashamedוְיַחְפְּרוּand confoundedיַחַדtogetherמְבַקְשֵׁיwho seekנַפְשִׁיmy soulלִסְפּוֹתָהּto destroy itיִסֹּגוּmay they be turned backאָחוֹרbackוְיִכָּלְמוּand put to shameחֲפֵצֵיwho delight inרָעָתִי׃my hurt

    Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

16. 16

    יָשֹׁמּוּlet them be appalledעַל־עֵקֶבbecause ofבׇּשְׁתָּםtheir shameהָאֹמְרִיםwho sayלִיconcerning meהֶאָחaha!הֶאָח׃aha!

    Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

17. 17

    יָשִׂישׂוּlet them rejoiceוְיִשְׂמְחוּand be gladבְּךָin Youכׇּל־מְבַקְשֶׁיךָall those who seek Youיֹאמְרוּlet them sayתָמִידcontinuallyיִגְדַּלlet be magnifiedיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֹהֲבֵיthose who loveתְּשׁוּעָתֶךָ׃Your salvation

    Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

18. 18

    וַאֲנִיand Iעָנִיam poorוְאֶבְיוֹןand needyאֲדֹנָיthe Lordיַחֲשׇׁב־לִיtakes thought for meעֶזְרָתִיmy helpוּמְפַלְטִיand my delivererאַתָּהYou areאֱלֹהַיO my Godאַל־תְּאַחַר׃do not delay

    But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
