לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musician[לִידוּתוּן]for Jeduthunמִזְמוֹרa psalmלְדָוִד׃of David
To the chief Musician, even to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David.

אָמַרְתִּיI saidאֶשְׁמְרָהI will keepדְרָכַיmy waysמֵחֲטוֹאfrom sinningבִלְשׁוֹנִיwith my tongueאֶשְׁמְרָהI will keepלְפִיfor my mouthמַחְסוֹםa muzzleבְּעֹדwhile stillרָשָׁעthe wickedלְנֶגְדִּי׃before me
I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

נֶאֱלַמְתִּיI was dumbדוּמִיָּהin silenceהֶחֱשֵׁיתִיI held my peaceמִטּוֹבeven from goodוּכְאֵבִיand my painנֶעְכָּר׃was stirred up
I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.

חַם־לִבִּיmy heart was hotבְּקִרְבִּיwithin meבַּהֲגִיגִיwhile I musedתִבְעַר־אֵשׁthe fire burnedדִּבַּרְתִּיI have spokenבִּלְשׁוֹנִי׃with my tongue
My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,

הוֹדִיעֵנִיshow meיְהֹוָהO LORDקִצִּיmy endוּמִדַּתand the measure ofיָמַיmy daysמַה־הִיאwhat it isאֵדְעָהthat I may knowמֶה־חָדֵלhow frailאָנִי׃I am
LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.

הִנֵּהbeholdטְפָחוֹתhandbreadthsנָתַתָּהYou have madeיָמַיmy daysוְחֶלְדִּיand my ageכְאַיִןis like nothingנֶגְדֶּךָbefore Youאַךְsurelyכׇּל־הֶבֶלis altogether vanityכׇּל־אָדָםevery manנִצָּבat his best stateסֶלָה׃Selah
Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.

אַךְ־בְּצֶלֶםsurely as a phantomיִתְהַלֶּךְ־אִישׁa man walks aboutאַךְ־הֶבֶלsurely in vainיֶהֱמָיוּןthey are disquietedיִצְבֹּרhe heaps upוְלֹא־יֵדַעand knows notמִי־אֹסְפָם׃who shall gather them
Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

וְעַתָּהand nowמַה־קִּוִּיתִיwhat do I wait forאֲדֹנָיO Lordתּוֹחַלְתִּיmy hopeלְךָin Youהִיא׃it is
And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.

מִכׇּל־פְּשָׁעַיfrom all my transgressionsהַצִּילֵנִיdeliver meחֶרְפַּתthe shame ofנָבָלthe base manאַל־תְּשִׂימֵנִי׃do not make me
Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.

נֶאֱלַמְתִּיI was dumbלֹאnotאֶפְתַּח־פִּיdo I open my mouthכִּיbecauseאַתָּהYouעָשִׂיתָ׃You did it
I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it.

הָסֵרremoveמֵעָלַיfrom meנִגְעֶךָYour strokeמִתִּגְרַתby the blow ofיָדְךָYour handאֲנִיIכָלִיתִי׃I am consumed
Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand.

בְּתוֹכָחוֹתwith rebukesעַל־עָוֺןupon iniquityיִסַּרְתָּYou correctאִישׁa manוַתֶּמֶסand You make to consume awayכָּעָשׁlike a mothחֲמוּדוֹhis beautyאַךְsurelyהֶבֶלis vanityכׇּל־אָדָםevery manסֶלָה׃Selah
When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.

שִׁמְעָה־תְפִלָּתִיhear my prayerיְהֹוָהO LORDוְשַׁוְעָתִיand my cry for helpהַאֲזִינָהgive earאֶל־דִּמְעָתִיat my tearsאַל־תֶּחֱרַשׁdo not be deafכִּיforגֵרa sojournerאָנֹכִיI amעִמָּךְwith Youתּוֹשָׁבa resident alienכְּכׇל־אֲבוֹתָי׃as all my fathers were
Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.

הָשַׁעlook awayמִמֶּנִּיfrom meוְאַבְלִיגָהthat I may recover strengthבְּטֶרֶםbeforeאֵלֵךְI go henceוְאֵינֶנִּי׃and am no more
O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.
