1. 1

   לְדָוִדof Davidאַל־תִּתְחַרdo not fret yourselfבַּמְּרֵעִיםbecause of evildoersאַל־תְּקַנֵּאdo not be jealousבְּעֹשֵׂיagainst the workers ofעַוְלָה׃iniquity

   A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

2. 2

   כִּיforכֶחָצִירlike grassמְהֵרָהspeedilyיִמָּלוּthey shall be cut downוּכְיֶרֶקand like the greenדֶּשֶׁאherbיִבּוֹלוּן׃they shall wither

   For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

   בְּטַחtrustבַּיהֹוָהin the LORDוַעֲשֵׂה־טוֹבand do goodשְׁכׇן־אֶרֶץdwell in the landוּרְעֵהand feed onאֱמוּנָה׃faithfulness

   Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

4. 4

   וְהִתְעַנַּגand take delightעַל־יְהֹוָהupon the LORDוְיִתֶּן־לְךָand He shall give youמִשְׁאֲלֹתthe desires ofלִבֶּךָ׃your heart

   Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

   גּוֹלcommitעַל־יְהֹוָהupon the LORDדַּרְכֶּךָyour wayוּבְטַחand trustעָלָיוin Himוְהוּאand Heיַעֲשֶׂה׃will bring it to pass

   Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

6. 6

   וְהוֹצִיאand He will bring forthכָאוֹרlike the lightצִדְקֶךָyour righteousnessוּמִשְׁפָּטֶךָand your justiceכַּצׇּהֳרָיִם׃like the noonday

   And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

   דּוֹםrestלַיהֹוָהto the LORDוְהִתְחוֹלֵלand wait patientlyלוֹfor Himאַל־תִּתְחַרdo not fret yourselfבְּמַצְלִיחַbecause of him who prospers inדַּרְכּוֹhis wayבְּאִישׁbecause of the manעֹשֶׂהwho carries outמְזִמּוֹת׃wicked devices

   Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

8. 8

   הֶרֶףceaseמֵאַףfrom angerוַעֲזֹבand forsakeחֵמָהwrathאַל־תִּתְחַרdo not fret yourselfאַךְ־לְהָרֵעַ׃it tends only to evil

   Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9. 9

   כִּי־מְרֵעִיםbecause evildoersיִכָּרֵתוּןthey will be cut offוְקֹוֵיand those who wait forיְהֹוָהthe LORDהֵמָּהtheyיִירְשׁוּ־אָרֶץ׃they shall inherit the earth

   For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

10. 10

    וְעוֹדand yetמְעַטa little whileוְאֵיןand there is no moreרָשָׁעthe wickedוְהִתְבּוֹנַנְתָּand you will look carefullyעַל־מְקוֹמוֹat his placeוְאֵינֶנּוּ׃and he is not there

    For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11. 11

    וַעֲנָוִיםbut the meekיִירְשׁוּ־אָרֶץthey shall inherit the earthוְהִתְעַנְּגוּand shall delight themselvesעַל־רֹבin the abundance ofשָׁלוֹם׃peace

    But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

12. 12

    זֹמֵםplotsרָשָׁעthe wickedלַצַּדִּיקagainst the justוְחֹרֵקand gnashesעָלָיוupon himשִׁנָּיו׃his teeth

    The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

13. 13

    אֲדֹנָיthe Lordיִשְׂחַק־לוֹshall laugh at himכִּי־רָאָהfor He seesכִּי־יָבֹאthat shall comeיוֹמוֹ׃his day

    The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

14. 14

    חֶרֶבthe swordפָּתְחוּhave drawnרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedוְדָרְכוּand they have bentקַשְׁתָּםtheir bowלְהַפִּילto cause to fallעָנִיthe poorוְאֶבְיוֹןand needyלִטְבוֹחַto slayיִשְׁרֵי־דָרֶךְ׃the upright in the way

    The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.

15. 15

    חַרְבָּםtheir swordתָּבוֹאshall comeבְלִבָּםinto their own heartוְקַשְּׁתוֹתָםand their bowsתִּשָּׁבַרְנָה׃they shall be broken

    Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

16. 16

    טוֹב־מְעַטbetter is a littleלַצַּדִּיקof the righteousמֵהֲמוֹןthan the riches ofרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedרַבִּים׃many

    A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

17. 17

    כִּיforזְרוֹעוֹתthe arms ofרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedתִּשָּׁבַרְנָהthey shall be brokenוְסוֹמֵךְbut upholdsצַדִּיקִיםthe righteousיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.

18. 18

    יוֹדֵעַknowsיְהֹוָהthe LORDיְמֵיthe days ofתְמִימִםthe blamelessוְנַחֲלָתָםand their inheritanceלְעוֹלָםforeverתִּהְיֶה׃shall be

    The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

19. 19

    לֹא־יֵבֹשׁוּshall not be ashamedבְּעֵתin the time ofרָעָהevilוּבִימֵיand in the days ofרְעָבוֹןfamineיִשְׂבָּעוּ׃they shall be satisfied

    They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

20. 20

    כִּיbecauseרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedיֹאבֵדוּshall perishוְאֹיְבֵיand the enemies ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכִּיקַרlike the glory ofכָּרִיםthe meadowsכָּלוּthey vanishבֶעָשָׁןin smokeכָּלוּ׃they vanish

    But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

21. 21

    לֹוֶהborrowsרָשָׁעthe wickedוְלֹאand notיְשַׁלֵּםdoes he pay backוְצַדִּיקbut the righteousחוֹנֵןis graciousוְנוֹתֵן׃and gives

    The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.

22. 22

    כִּיforמְבֹרָכָיוthose blessed of Himיִירְשׁוּshall inheritאָרֶץthe earthוּמְקֻלָּלָיוand those cursed of Himיִכָּרֵתוּ׃shall be cut off

    For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

23. 23

    מֵיְהֹוָהfrom the LORDמִצְעֲדֵי־גֶבֶרthe steps of a manכּוֹנָנוּare orderedוְדַרְכּוֹand his wayיֶחְפָּץ׃He delights in

    The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

24. 24

    כִּי־יִפֹּלthough he fallלֹא־יוּטָלhe shall not be cast downכִּי־יְהֹוָהfor the LORDסוֹמֵךְupholds him withיָדוֹ׃His hand

    Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

25. 25

    נַעַרa young manהָיִיתִיI wasגַּם־זָקַנְתִּיand now am oldוְלֹא־רָאִיתִיyet I have not seenצַדִּיקa just manנֶעֱזָבforsakenוְזַרְעוֹand his descendantsמְבַקֶּשׁ־לָחֶם׃begging bread

    I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

26. 26

    כׇּל־הַיּוֹםall the dayחוֹנֵןhe is graciousוּמַלְוֶהand lendsוְזַרְעוֹand his descendantsלִבְרָכָה׃is for a blessing

    He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.

27. 27

    סוּרdepartמֵרָעfrom evilוַעֲשֵׂה־טוֹבand do goodוּשְׁכֹןand dwellלְעוֹלָם׃forever

    Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

28. 28

    כִּיbecauseיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֹהֵבlovesמִשְׁפָּטjudgmentוְלֹא־יַעֲזֹבand forsakes notאֶת־חֲסִידָיוHis faithful onesלְעוֹלָםforeverנִשְׁמָרוּthey are preservedוְזֶרַעand the seed ofרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedנִכְרָת׃shall be cut off

    For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

29. 29

    צַדִּיקִיםthe righteousיִירְשׁוּ־אָרֶץthey possess the earthוְיִשְׁכְּנוּand shall dwellלָעַדforeverעָלֶיהָ׃upon it

    The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.

30. 30

    פִּי־צַדִּיקthe mouth of the righteousיֶהְגֶּהspeaksחׇכְמָהwisdomוּלְשׁוֹנוֹand his tongueתְּדַבֵּרdiscoursesמִשְׁפָּט׃judgment

    The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

31. 31

    תּוֹרַתthe law ofאֱלֹהָיוhis Godבְּלִבּוֹin his heartלֹאnotתִמְעַדshall falterאֲשֻׁרָיו׃his steps

    The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

32. 32

    צוֹפֶהwatchesרָשָׁעthe wickedלַצַּדִּיקthe righteousוּמְבַקֵּשׁand seeksלַהֲמִיתוֹ׃to slay him

    The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

33. 33

    יְהֹוָהthe LORDלֹא־יַעַזְבֶנּוּwill not leave himבְיָדוֹin his handוְלֹאand notיַרְשִׁיעֶנּוּwill He condemn himבְּהִשָּׁפְטוֹ׃when he is judged

    The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

34. 34

    קַוֵּהwaitאֶל־יְהֹוָהto the LORDוּשְׁמֹרand keepדַּרְכּוֹHis wayוִירוֹמִמְךָand He shall exalt youלָרֶשֶׁתto inheritאָרֶץthe earthבְּהִכָּרֵתwhen are cut offרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedתִּרְאֶה׃you shall see

    Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

35. 35

    רָאִיתִיI sawרָשָׁעthe wickedעָרִיץin great powerוּמִתְעָרֶהand spreading himselfכְּאֶזְרָחlike a native treeרַעֲנָן׃green

    I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

36. 36

    וַיַּעֲבֹרyet he passed awayוְהִנֵּהand beholdאֵינֶנּוּhe was notוָאֲבַקְשֵׁהוּand I sought himוְלֹאand notנִמְצָא׃he was found

    Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

37. 37

    שְׁמׇר־תָּםmark the blamelessוּרְאֵהand beholdיָשָׁרthe uprightכִּי־אַחֲרִיתfor the end ofלְאִישׁof that man isשָׁלוֹם׃peace

    Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

38. 38

    וּפֹשְׁעִיםand transgressorsנִשְׁמְדוּare destroyedיַחְדָּוtogetherאַחֲרִיתthe end ofרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedנִכְרָתָה׃shall be cut off

    But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

39. 39

    וּתְשׁוּעַתand the salvation ofצַדִּיקִיםthe righteousמֵיְהֹוָהfrom the LORDמָעוּזָּםtheir strongholdבְּעֵתin the time ofצָרָה׃trouble

    But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

40. 40

    וַיַּעְזְרֵםand helps themיְהֹוָהthe LORDוַיְפַלְּטֵםand He delivers themיְפַלְּטֵםHe shall deliver themמֵרְשָׁעִיםfrom the wickedוְיוֹשִׁיעֵםand He saves themכִּי־חָסוּbecause they have taken refugeבוֹ׃in Him

    And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
