   לְדָוִדle/Da/VIDof Davidרִיבָהri/VAcontendיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֶת־יְרִיבַיet-ye/ri/VAYwith those who contend with meלְחַםle/CHAMfightאֶת־לֹחֲמָי׃et-lo/cha/MAYthose who fight with me

   A Psalm of David. Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

2. 2

   הַחֲזֵקha/cha/ZEKtake hold ofמָגֵןma/GENa shieldוְצִנָּהve/tsin/NAand bucklerוְקוּמָהve/KU/maand ariseבְּעֶזְרָתִי׃be/ez/ra/TIfor my help

   Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.

   וְהָרֵקve/ha/REKand draw outחֲנִיתcha/NITthe spearוּסְגֹרu/se/GORand battle axeלִקְרַאתlik/RATto meetרֹדְפָיrod/FAYmy pursuersאֱמֹרe/MORsayלְנַפְשִׁיle/naf/SHIto my soulיְשֻׁעָתֵךְye/shu/a/TEKHyour salvationאָנִי׃A/niI am

   Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

   יֵבֹשׁוּye/VO/shulet be ashamedוְיִכָּלְמוּve/yik/ka/le/MUand be disgracedמְבַקְשֵׁיme/vak/SHEthose who seekנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulיִסֹּגוּyis/SO/gulet be turnedאָחוֹרa/CHORbackוְיַחְפְּרוּve/yach/pe/RUand be confoundedחֹשְׁבֵיchosh/VEthose who plotרָעָתִי׃ra/a/TImy hurt

   Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.

   יִהְיוּyih/YUshall beכְּמֹץke/MOTSlike chaffלִפְנֵי־רוּחַlif/NE-RU/achbefore the windוּמַלְאַךְu/mal/AKHwith the angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDדּוֹחֶה׃do/CHEdriving them on

   Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.

   יְהִי־דַרְכָּםye/HI-dar/KAMlet their way beחֹשֶׁךְCHO/shekhdarknessוַחֲלַקְלַקֹּתva/cha/lak/lak/KOTand slipperyוּמַלְאַךְu/mal/AKHwith the angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDרֹדְפָם׃rod/FAMpursuing them

   Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.

7. 7

   כִּי־חִנָּםki-chin/NAMfor without causeטָמְנוּ־לִיta/me/NU-lithey have hidden for meשַׁחַתSHA/chata pitרִשְׁתָּםrish/TAMtheir netחִנָּםchin/NAMwithout causeחָפְרוּcha/fe/RUthey have dugלְנַפְשִׁי׃le/naf/SHIfor my soul

   For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.

8. 8

   תְּבוֹאֵהוּte/vo/E/humay it come to himשׁוֹאָהsho/Adestructionלֹא־יֵדָעlo-ye/DAunawaresוְרִשְׁתּוֹve/rish/TOand his netאֲשֶׁר־טָמַןa/SHER-ta/MANwhich he has hiddenתִּלְכְּדוֹtil/ke/DOlet it catch himבְּשׁוֹאָהbe/sho/Ainto ruinיִפׇּל־בָּהּ׃yip/POL-balet him fall in it

   Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.

9. 9

   וְנַפְשִׁיve/naf/SHIand my soulתָּגִילta/GILshall be joyfulבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiin the LORDתָּשִׂישׂta/SISit shall rejoiceבִּישׁוּעָתוֹ׃bi/shu/a/TOin His salvation

   And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

10. 10

    כׇּל־עַצְמוֹתַיkol-ats/mo/TAYall my bonesתֹּאמַרְנָהto/MAR/nashall sayיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDמִי־כָמוֹךָmi-kha/MO/khawho is like Youמַצִּילmats/TSILwho deliversעָנִיa/NIthe poorמֵחָזָקme/cha/ZAKfrom him too strongמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufor himוְעָנִיve/a/NIand the poorוְאֶבְיוֹןve/ev/YONand the needyמִגֹּזְלוֹ׃mig/goz/LOfrom one who robs him

    All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?

11. 11

    יְקוּמוּןye/ku/MUNthere rise upעֵדֵיe/DEwitnesses ofחָמָסcha/MASviolenceאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthingsלֹא־יָדַעְתִּיlo-ya/DA/tiI do not knowיִשְׁאָלוּנִי׃yish/a/LU/nithey ask me

    False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

12. 12

    יְשַׁלְּמוּנִיye/shal/le/MU/nithey repay meרָעָהra/AevilתַּחַתTA/chatforטוֹבָהto/VAgoodשְׁכוֹלshe/KHOLbereavementלְנַפְשִׁי׃le/naf/SHIto my soul

    They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.

13. 13

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut as for meבַּחֲלוֹתָםba/cha/lo/TAMwhen they were sickלְבוּשִׁיle/vu/SHImy clothingשָׂקsaksackclothעִנֵּיתִיin/NE/tiI humbledבַצּוֹםvats/TSOMwith fastingנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulוּתְפִלָּתִיu/te/fil/la/TIand my prayerעַל־חֵיקִיal-che/KIupon my bosomתָשׁוּב׃ta/SHUVreturned

    But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

    כְּרֵעַ־כְּאָחke/RE/a-ke/ACHas for a friend as for a brotherלִיlito meהִתְהַלָּכְתִּיhit/hal/LAKH/tiI went aboutכַּאֲבֶל־אֵםka/a/VEL-emas one mourning a motherקֹדֵרko/DERdarkenedשַׁחוֹתִי׃sha/CHO/tiI bowed down

    I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

15. 15

    וּבְצַלְעִיu/ve/tsal/Iand at my stumblingשָׂמְחוּsa/me/CHUthey rejoicedוְנֶאֱסָפוּve/ne/e/SA/fuand gathered togetherנֶאֶסְפוּne/es/FUgatheredעָלַיa/LAYagainst meנֵכִיםne/KHIMsmitersוְלֹאve/LOand notיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knewקָרְעוּka/re/Uthey tore at meוְלֹא־דָמּוּ׃ve/LO-DAM/muand ceased not

    But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:

16. 16

    בְּחַנְפֵיbe/chan/FElike the godlessלַעֲגֵיla/a/GEmockers ofמָעוֹגma/OGa cakeחָרֹקcha/ROKgnashingעָלַיa/LAYagainst meשִׁנֵּימוֹ׃shin/NE/motheir teeth

    With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

17. 17

    אֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO Lordכַּמָּהkam/MAhow longתִרְאֶהtir/Ewill You look onהָשִׁיבָהha/SHI/varescueנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulמִשֹּׁאֵיהֶםmish/sho/e/HEMfrom their ravagesמִכְּפִירִיםmik/ke/fi/RIMfrom the lionsיְחִידָתִי׃ye/chi/da/TImy only life

    Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.

18. 18

    אוֹדְךָod/KHAI will give You thanksבְּקָהָלbe/ka/HALin the congregationרָבravgreatבְּעַםbe/AMamong a peopleעָצוּםa/TSUMnumerousאֲהַלְלֶךָּ׃a/hal/LEK/kaI will praise You

    I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.

19. 19

    אַל־יִשְׂמְחוּ־לִיal-yis/me/CHU-lilet them not rejoice over meאֹיְבַיoy/VAYmy enemiesשֶׁקֶרSHE/kerwrongfullyשֹׂנְאַיson/AYthose who hate meחִנָּםchin/NAMwithout causeיִקְרְצוּ־עָיִן׃yik/re/TSU-A/yinlet them wink the eye

    Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.

20. 20

    כִּיkiforלֹאlonotשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceיְדַבֵּרוּye/dab/BE/rudo they speakוְעַלve/ALbut againstרִגְעֵי־אֶרֶץrig/E-E/retsthe quiet ones of the landדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe words ofמִרְמוֹתmir/MOTdeceitיַחֲשֹׁבוּן׃ya/cha/sho/VUNthey devise

    For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.

21. 21

    וַיַּרְחִיבוּvay/yar/CHI/vuand they have opened wideעָלַיa/LAYagainst meפִּיהֶםpi/HEMtheir mouthאָמְרוּa/me/RUthey saidהֶאָחhe/ACHahaהֶאָחhe/ACHahaרָאֲתָהra/a/TAhas seenעֵינֵנוּ׃e/NE/nuour eye

    Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.

22. 22

    רָאִיתָהra/I/taYou have seenיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאַל־תֶּחֱרַשׁal-te/che/RASHdo not be deafאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO Lordאַל־תִּרְחַקal-tir/CHAKdo not be farמִמֶּנִּי׃mim/MEN/nifrom me

    This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.

23. 23

    הָעִירָהha/I/rarouse Yourselfוְהָקִיצָהve/ha/KI/tsaand awakeלְמִשְׁפָּטִיle/mish/pa/TIto my judgmentאֱלֹהַיe/lo/HAYmy Godוַאדֹנָיva/do/NAYand my Lordלְרִיבִי׃le/ri/VIfor my cause

    Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.

24. 24

    שׇׁפְטֵנִיshof/TE/nivindicate meכְצִדְקְךָkhe/tsid/ke/KHAaccording to Your righteousnessיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֱלֹהָיe/lo/HAYmy Godוְאַל־יִשְׂמְחוּ־לִי׃ve/AL-yis/me/CHU-liand let them not rejoice over me

    Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.

25. 25

    אַל־יֹאמְרוּal-yo/me/RUlet them not sayבְלִבָּםve/lib/BAMin their heartהֶאָחhe/ACHahaנַפְשֵׁנוּnaf/SHE/nuour desireאַל־יֹאמְרוּal-yo/me/RUlet them not sayבִּלַּעֲנוּהוּ׃bil/la/a/NU/huwe have swallowed him

    Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.

26. 26

    יֵבֹשׁוּye/VO/shulet be ashamedוְיַחְפְּרוּve/yach/pe/RUand brought to confusionיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherשְׂמֵחֵיse/me/CHEthose who rejoice atרָעָתִיra/a/TImy harmיִלְבְּשׁוּ־בֹשֶׁתyil/be/SHU-VO/shetlet them be clothed with shameוּכְלִמָּהu/khe/lim/MAand disgraceהַמַּגְדִּילִיםham/mag/di/LIMthose who magnify themselvesעָלָי׃a/LAYagainst me

    Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.

27. 27

    יָרֹנּוּya/RON/nulet them shout for joyוְיִשְׂמְחוּve/yis/me/CHUand be gladחֲפֵצֵיcha/fe/TSEthose who favorצִדְקִיtsid/KImy righteous causeוְיֹאמְרוּve/yo/me/RUand let them sayתָמִידta/MIDcontinuallyיִגְדַּלyig/DALlet be magnifiedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהֶחָפֵץhe/cha/FETSwho delights inשְׁלוֹםshe/LOMthe welfare ofעַבְדּוֹ׃av/DOHis servant

    Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

28. 28

    וּלְשׁוֹנִיu/le/sho/NIand my tongueתֶּהְגֶּהteh/GEshall speak ofצִדְקֶךָtsid/KE/khaYour righteousnessכׇּל־הַיּוֹםkol-hay/YOMall the dayתְּהִלָּתֶךָ׃te/hil/la/TE/khaYour praise

    And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
