1. 1

   רַנְּנוּrejoiceצַדִּיקִיםO you righteousבַּיהֹוָהin the LORDלַיְשָׁרִיםfor the uprightנָאוָהis fittingתְהִלָּה׃praise

   Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.

2. 2

   הוֹדוּpraiseלַיהֹוָהto the LORDבְּכִנּוֹרwith the lyreבְּנֵבֶלwith the harp ofעָשׂוֹרten stringsזַמְּרוּ־לוֹ׃make melody to Him

   Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.

   שִׁירוּ־לוֹsing to Himשִׁירa songחָדָשׁnewהֵיטִיבוּdo wellנַגֵּןat playingבִּתְרוּעָה׃with shouting

   Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.

4. 4

   כִּי־יָשָׁרfor is rightדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDוְכׇל־מַעֲשֵׂהוּand all His workבֶּאֱמוּנָה׃is in faithfulness

   For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.

5. 5

   אֹהֵבlovesצְדָקָהrighteousnessוּמִשְׁפָּטand judgmentחֶסֶדof the mercy ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDמָלְאָהis full ofהָאָרֶץ׃the earth

   He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

   בִּדְבַרby the word ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDשָׁמַיִםthe heavensנַעֲשׂוּwere madeוּבְרוּחַand by the breath ofפִּיוHis mouthכׇּל־צְבָאָם׃all their host

   By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

   כֹּנֵסHe gathersכַּנֵּדlike a heapמֵיthe waters ofהַיָּםthe seaנֹתֵןHe lays upבְּאוֹצָרוֹתin storehousesתְּהוֹמוֹת׃the deeps

   He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

   יִירְאוּlet fearמֵיְהֹוָהfrom the LORDכׇּל־הָאָרֶץall the earthמִמֶּנּוּof Himיָגוּרוּlet them stand in aweכׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵיall inhabitants ofתֵבֵל׃the world

   Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

   כִּיforהוּאHeאָמַרspokeוַיֶּהִיand it wasהוּא־צִוָּהHe commandedוַיַּעֲמֹד׃and it stood fast

   For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

10. 10

    יְהֹוָהthe LORDהֵפִירbrings to noughtעֲצַת־גּוֹיִםthe counsel of the nationsהֵנִיאHe frustratesמַחְשְׁבוֹתthe devices ofעַמִּים׃peoples

    The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

11. 11

    עֲצַתthe plan ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְעוֹלָםforeverתַּעֲמֹדstandsמַחְשְׁבוֹתthe thoughts ofלִבּוֹHis heartלְדֹרfrom generationוָדֹר׃to generation

    The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

12. 12

    אַשְׁרֵיblessed areהַגּוֹיthe nationאֲשֶׁר־יְהֹוָהwhose the LORD isאֱלֹהָיוhis Godהָעָםthe peopleבָּחַרchoseלְנַחֲלָהfor inheritanceלוֹ׃for Himself

    Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

13. 13

    מִשָּׁמַיִםfrom heavenהִבִּיטlooks downיְהֹוָהthe LORDרָאָהHe beholdsאֶת־כׇּל־בְּנֵיall sons ofהָאָדָם׃the man

    The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.

14. 14

    מִמְּכוֹן־שִׁבְתּוֹfrom the place of His habitationהִשְׁגִּיחַhe watched overאֶלtoכׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵיall inhabitants ofהָאָרֶץ׃the earth

    From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

15. 15

    הַיֹּצֵרwho fashionsיַחַדalikeלִבָּםtheir heartהַמֵּבִיןwho considersאֶל־כׇּל־מַעֲשֵׂיהֶם׃all their deeds

    He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

16. 16

    אֵין־הַמֶּלֶךְno king isנוֹשָׁעis savedבְּרׇב־חָיִלby a great hostגִּבּוֹרa mighty manלֹא־יִנָּצֵלis not deliveredבְּרׇב־כֹּחַ׃by great strength

    There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

17. 17

    שֶׁקֶרa vain thing isהַסּוּסthe horseלִתְשׁוּעָהfor safetyוּבְרֹבand by the greatness ofחֵילוֹits strengthלֹאnotיְמַלֵּט׃shall it deliver

    An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

18. 18

    הִנֵּהbeholdעֵיןthe eye ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־יְרֵאָיוupon those who fear Himלַמְיַחֲלִיםto those who hopeלְחַסְדּוֹ׃in His mercy

    Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

19. 19

    לְהַצִּילto deliverמִמָּוֶתfrom deathנַפְשָׁםtheir soulוּלְחַיּוֹתָםand to keep them aliveבָּרָעָב׃in famine

    To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

20. 20

    נַפְשֵׁנוּour soulחִכְּתָהwaitsלַיהֹוָהto the LORDעֶזְרֵנוּour helpוּמָגִנֵּנוּand our shieldהוּא׃He is

    Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.

21. 21

    כִּי־בוֹbecause in Himיִשְׂמַחrejoicesלִבֵּנוּour heartכִּיbecauseבְשֵׁםin the name ofקׇדְשׁוֹHis holinessבָטָחְנוּ׃we trust

    For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

22. 22

    יְהִי־חַסְדְּךָlet Your mercy beיְהֹוָהO LORDעָלֵינוּover usכַּאֲשֶׁרasיִחַלְנוּwe hopeלָךְ׃in You

    Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
