   לְדָוִדof Davidמַשְׂכִּילa maskilאַשְׁרֵיblessed areנְשׂוּי־פֶּשַׁעwhose transgression is forgivenכְּסוּיcovered ofחֲטָאָה׃sin

   A Psalm of David, Maschil. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

2. 2

   אַשְׁרֵי־אָדָםblessed is the manלֹאnotיַחְשֹׁבimputesיְהֹוָהthe LORDלוֹto himעָוֺןiniquityוְאֵיןand there is noבְּרוּחוֹin his spiritרְמִיָּה׃guile

   Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

   כִּי־הֶחֱרַשְׁתִּיbecause I kept quietבָּלוּwasted awayעֲצָמָיmy bonesבְּשַׁאֲגָתִיthrough my groaningכׇּל־הַיּוֹם׃all the day

   When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.

   כִּיforיוֹמָםby dayוָלַיְלָהand nightתִּכְבַּדwas heavyעָלַיupon meיָדֶךָYour handנֶהְפַּךְis turnedלְשַׁדִּיmy moistureבְּחַרְבֹנֵיby the dry heat ofקַיִץsummerסֶלָה׃Selah

   For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

   חַטָּאתִיmy sinאוֹדִיעֲךָI acknowledged to Youוַעֲוֺנִיand my iniquityלֹא־כִסִּיתִיI have not hiddenאָמַרְתִּיI saidאוֹדֶהI will confessעֲלֵיconcerningפְשָׁעַיmy transgressionsלַיהֹוָהto the LORDוְאַתָּהand YouנָשָׂאתָYou forgaveעֲוֺןthe iniquity ofחַטָּאתִיmy sinסֶלָה׃Selah

   I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

   עַל־זֹאתupon thisיִתְפַּלֵּלhe praysכׇּל־חָסִידeveryone who is godlyאֵלֶיךָto Youלְעֵתin a time ofמְצֹאbeing foundרַקsurelyלְשֵׁטֶףin the flood ofמַיִםwaterרַבִּיםmanyאֵלָיוto himלֹאnotיַגִּיעוּ׃shall they reach

   For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.

   אַתָּהYou areסֵתֶרa hiding placeלִיfor meמִצַּרfrom distressתִּצְּרֵנִיyou will preserve meרׇנֵּיwith songs ofפַלֵּטdeliveranceתְּסוֹבְבֵנִיYou compass me aboutסֶלָה׃Selah

   Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

8. 8

   אַשְׂכִּילְךָI will instruct youוְאוֹרְךָand I will teach youבְּדֶרֶךְ־זוּin the way whichתֵלֵךְyou shall goאִיעֲצָהI will counselעָלֶיךָupon youעֵינִי׃my eye

   I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

   אַל־תִּהְיוּdo not beכְּסוּסlike a horseכְּפֶרֶדor like a muleאֵיןthere is noהָבִיןunderstandingבְּמֶתֶג־וָרֶסֶןwith bridle and halterעֶדְיוֹhis trappingsלִבְלוֹםmust be held inבַּלnotקְרֹבthey come nearאֵלֶיךָ׃to you

   Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

    רַבִּיםmanyמַכְאוֹבִיםare the sorrowsלָרָשָׁעof the wickedוְהַבּוֹטֵחַand the one who trustsבַּיהֹוָהin the LORDחֶסֶדmercyיְסוֹבְבֶנּוּ׃it will surround him

    Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.

11. 11

    שִׂמְחוּrejoiceבַיהֹוָהin the LORDוְגִילוּand rejoiceצַדִּיקִיםO you righteousוְהַרְנִינוּand shout for joyכׇּל־יִשְׁרֵי־לֵב׃all you upright in heart

    Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
