   מִזְמוֹרa psalmשִׁיר־חֲנֻכַּתa song at the dedication ofהַבַּיִתthe houseלְדָוִד׃of David

   A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David.

2. 2

   אֲרוֹמִמְךָI will extol YouיְהֹוָהO LORDכִּיforדִלִּיתָנִיYou have lifted me upוְלֹא־שִׂמַּחְתָּand have not let rejoiceאֹיְבַיmy enemiesלִי׃over me

   I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

   יְהֹוָהO LORDאֱלֹהָיmy GodשִׁוַּעְתִּיI cried outאֵלֶיךָto Youוַתִּרְפָּאֵנִי׃and You healed me

   O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

4. 4

   יְהֹוָהO LORDהֶעֱלִיתָYou brought upמִן־שְׁאוֹלfrom Sheolנַפְשִׁיmy soulחִיִּיתַנִיYou kept me alive[מִיׇּרְדִי־]בוֹר׃from going down to the pit

   O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

   זַמְּרוּsingלַיהֹוָהto the LORDחֲסִידָיוO His faithful onesוְהוֹדוּand give thanksלְזֵכֶרat the remembrance ofקׇדְשׁוֹ׃His holiness

   Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

   כִּיbecauseרֶגַעa momentבְּאַפּוֹin His angerחַיִּיםlifeבִּרְצוֹנוֹis in His favorבָּעֶרֶבin the eveningיָלִיןmay lodgeבֶּכִיweepingוְלַבֹּקֶרbut in the morningרִנָּה׃is joy

   For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

   וַאֲנִיand IאָמַרְתִּיI saidבְשַׁלְוִיin my prosperityבַּל־אֶמּוֹטI shall not be movedלְעוֹלָם׃forever

   And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.

8. 8

   יְהֹוָהO LORDבִּרְצוֹנְךָby Your favorהֶעֱמַדְתָּהYou have made standלְהַרְרִי־עֹזmy mountain strongהִסְתַּרְתָּYou hidפָנֶיךָYour faceהָיִיתִיI wasנִבְהָל׃dismayed

   LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.

   אֵלֶיךָto YouיְהֹוָהO LORDאֶקְרָאI callוְאֶל־אֲדֹנָיand to the Lordאֶתְחַנָּן׃I made supplication

   I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication.

10. 10

    מַה־בֶּצַעwhat profitבְּדָמִיin my bloodבְּרִדְתִּיwhen I go downאֶל־שָׁחַתto the pitהֲיוֹדְךָshall it praise Youעָפָרdustהֲיַגִּידshall it declareאֲמִתֶּךָ׃Your faithfulness

    What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

11. 11

    שְׁמַע־יְהֹוָהhear O LORDוְחׇנֵּנִיand be gracious to meיְהֹוָהO LORDהֱיֵה־עֹזֵרbe my helperלִי׃to me

    Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.

12. 12

    הָפַכְתָּYou have turnedמִסְפְּדִיmy mourningלְמָחוֹלinto dancingלִיfor meפִּתַּחְתָּYou have loosedשַׂקִּיmy sackclothוַתְּאַזְּרֵנִיand girded meשִׂמְחָה׃joy

    Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

13. 13

    לְמַעַןto the end thatיְזַמֶּרְךָmay sing praise to Youכָבוֹדgloryוְלֹאand notיִדֹּםbe silentיְהֹוָהO LORDאֱלֹהַיmy Godלְעוֹלָםforeverאוֹדֶךָּ׃I will give You thanks

    To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
