1. 1

   לְדָוִדof Davidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאוֹרִיis my lightוְיִשְׁעִיand my salvationמִמִּיof whomאִירָאshall I fearיְהֹוָהthe LORDמָעוֹז־חַיַּיthe strength of my lifeמִמִּיof whomאֶפְחָד׃shall I be afraid

   A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2. 2

   בִּקְרֹבwhen drew nearעָלַיupon meמְרֵעִיםevildoersלֶאֱכֹלto eat upאֶת־בְּשָׂרִיmy fleshצָרַיmy enemiesוְאֹיְבַיand my foesלִיagainst meהֵמָּהtheyכָשְׁלוּthey stumbledוְנָפָלוּ׃and fell

   When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

   אִם־תַּחֲנֶהthough should encampעָלַיupon meמַחֲנֶהan armyלֹא־יִירָאshall not fearלִבִּיmy heartאִם־תָּקוּםthough should riseעָלַיupon meמִלְחָמָהwarבְּזֹאתin thisאֲנִיIבוֹטֵחַ׃am confident

   Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

   אַחַתoneשָׁאַלְתִּיI have askedמֵאֵת־יְהֹוָהfrom the LORDאוֹתָהּitאֲבַקֵּשׁI will seekשִׁבְתִּיthat I may dwellבְּבֵית־יְהֹוָהin the house of the LORDכׇּל־יְמֵיall days ofחַיַּיmy lifeלַחֲזוֹתto lookבְּנֹעַם־יְהֹוָהon the beauty of the LORDוּלְבַקֵּרand to inquireבְּהֵיכָלוֹ׃in His temple

   One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

   כִּיforיִצְפְּנֵנִיHe will conceal meבְּסֻכֹּהin His pavilionבְּיוֹםin the day ofרָעָהevilיַסְתִּרֵנִיHe will hide meבְּסֵתֶרin the cover ofאׇהֳלוֹHis tentבְּצוּרupon a rockיְרוֹמְמֵנִי׃He will set me up

   For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

   וְעַתָּהand nowיָרוּםwill be exaltedרֹאשִׁיmy headעַלuponאֹיְבַיmy enemiesסְבִיבוֹתַיround about meוְאֶזְבְּחָהand I will sacrificeבְאׇהֳלוֹin His tentזִבְחֵיsacrifices ofתְרוּעָהshoutingאָשִׁירָהI will singוַאֲזַמְּרָהand will sing praiseלַיהֹוָה׃to the LORD

   And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

   שְׁמַע־יְהֹוָהhear O LORDקוֹלִיmy voiceאֶקְרָאI callוְחׇנֵּנִיand be gracious to meוַעֲנֵנִי׃and answer me

   Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

8. 8

   לְךָof Youאָמַרsaidלִבִּיmy heartבַּקְּשׁוּseek youפָנָיmy faceאֶת־פָּנֶיךָYour faceיְהֹוָהO LORDאֲבַקֵּשׁ׃I will seek

   When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

9. 9

   אַל־תַּסְתֵּרdo not hideפָּנֶיךָYour faceמִמֶּנִּיfrom meאַלdo notתַּט־בְּאַףput away in angerעַבְדֶּךָYour servantעֶזְרָתִיmy helpהָיִיתָYou have beenאַל־תִּטְּשֵׁנִיdo not cast me offוְאַל־תַּעַזְבֵנִיand do not forsake meאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׁעִי׃my salvation

   Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10. 10

    כִּי־אָבִיbecause my fatherוְאִמִּיand my motherעֲזָבוּנִיthey have forsaken meוַיהֹוָהand the LORDיַאַסְפֵנִי׃He will take me up

    When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

11. 11

    הוֹרֵנִיteach meיְהֹוָהO LORDדַּרְכֶּךָYour wayוּנְחֵנִיand lead meבְּאֹרַחin the path ofמִישׁוֹרlevel groundלְמַעַןbecause ofשׁוֹרְרָי׃my enemies

    Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

12. 12

    אַל־תִּתְּנֵנִיdo not deliver me overבְּנֶפֶשׁdeadlyצָרָיmy enemiesכִּיforקָמוּ־בִיhave risen against meעֵדֵי־שֶׁקֶרfalse witnessesוִיפֵחַand such as breathe outחָמָס׃violence

    Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

13. 13

    לׅׄוּׅׄלֵׅׄאׅׄif notהֶאֱמַנְתִּיI had believedלִרְאוֹתto seeבְּטוּב־יְהֹוָהon the goodness of the LORDבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofחַיִּים׃life

    I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

14. 14

    קַוֵּהwaitאֶל־יְהֹוָהto the LORDחֲזַקbe strongוְיַאֲמֵץand He shall strengthenלִבֶּךָyour heartוְקַוֵּהand waitאֶל־יְהֹוָה׃to the LORD

    Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
