   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianעַל־אַיֶּלֶתupon Ayyelet-הַשַּׁחַרhashaharמִזְמוֹרa psalmלְדָוִד׃of David

2. 2

   אֵלִיmy Godאֵלִיmy GodלָמָהwhyעֲזַבְתָּנִיYou have forsaken meרָחוֹקfarמִישׁוּעָתִיfrom my deliveranceדִּבְרֵיthe words ofשַׁאֲגָתִי׃my roaring

   My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

   אֱלֹהַיmy GodאֶקְרָאI callיוֹמָםby dayוְלֹאand notתַעֲנֶהYou answerוְלַיְלָהand by nightוְלֹא־דֻמִיָּהand no restלִי׃for me

   O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

   וְאַתָּהyet You areקָדוֹשׁholyיוֹשֵׁבenthroned uponתְּהִלּוֹתthe praises ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

   But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

5. 5

   בְּךָin Youבָּטְחוּthey trustedאֲבֹתֵינוּour fathersבָּטְחוּthey trustedוַתְּפַלְּטֵמוֹ׃and You delivered them

   Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

6. 6

   אֵלֶיךָto Youזָעֲקוּthey cried outוְנִמְלָטוּand they were deliveredבְּךָin Youבָטְחוּthey trustedוְלֹא־בוֹשׁוּ׃and were not ashamed

   They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

   וְאָנֹכִיyet Iתוֹלַעַתa wormוְלֹא־אִישׁand not a manחֶרְפַּתthe shame ofאָדָםmanוּבְזוּיand despised ofעָם׃the people

   But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

8. 8

   כׇּל־רֹאַיall those who see meיַלְעִגוּthey mockלִיto meיַפְטִירוּthey shoot outבְשָׂפָהwith the lipיָנִיעוּthey shakeרֹאשׁ׃the head

   All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

   גֹּלcommit toאֶל־יְהֹוָהto the LORDיְפַלְּטֵהוּlet Him rescue himיַצִּילֵהוּlet Him deliver himכִּי־חָפֵץ־בּוֹ׃since He delights in him

   He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

10. 10

    כִּי־אַתָּהfor Youגֹחִיdrew me forthמִבָּטֶןfrom the bellyמַבְטִיחִיmade me trustעַל־שְׁדֵיupon the breasts ofאִמִּי׃my mother

    But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.

11. 11

    עָלֶיךָupon YouהׇשְׁלַכְתִּיI was castמֵרָחֶםfrom the wombמִבֶּטֶןfrom the wombאִמִּיof my motherאֵלִיmy Godאָתָּה׃You are

    I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.

12. 12

    אַל־תִּרְחַקdo not be farמִמֶּנִּיfrom meכִּי־צָרָהfor trouble isקְרוֹבָהnearכִּי־אֵיןfor there is noneעוֹזֵר׃to help

    Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

13. 13

    סְבָבוּנִיthey surrounded meפָּרִיםbullsרַבִּיםmanyאַבִּירֵיmighty bulls ofבָשָׁןBashanכִּתְּרוּנִי׃they have encircled me

    Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.

14. 14

    פָּצוּthey have openedעָלַיupon meפִּיהֶםtheir mouthאַרְיֵהa lionטֹרֵףraveningוְשֹׁאֵג׃and roaring

    They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

15. 15

    כַּמַּיִםas the watersנִשְׁפַּכְתִּיI have been poured outוְהִתְפָּרְדוּand are out of jointכׇּל־עַצְמוֹתָיall my bonesהָיָהhas becomeלִבִּיmy heartכַּדּוֹנָגlike the waxנָמֵסit is meltedבְּתוֹךְamongמֵעָי׃my inward parts

    I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

16. 16

    יָבֵשׁis dried upכַּחֶרֶשׂlike earthenwareכֹּחִיmy strengthוּלְשׁוֹנִיand my tongueמֻדְבָּקhas been made to cling toמַלְקוֹחָיmy jawsוְלַעֲפַר־מָוֶתand to the dust of deathתִּשְׁפְּתֵנִי׃You lay me down

    My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

17. 17

    כִּיforסְבָבוּנִיthey surrounded meכְּלָבִיםdogsעֲדַתcongregation ofמְרֵעִיםevildoersהִקִּיפוּנִיthey have encircled meכָּאֲרִיlike a lionיָדַיmy handsוְרַגְלָי׃and my feet

    For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

18. 18

    אֲסַפֵּרI can countכׇּל־עַצְמוֹתָיall my bonesהֵמָּהtheyיַבִּיטוּthey lookיִרְאוּ־בִי׃they stare at me

    I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

19. 19

    יְחַלְּקוּthey divideבְגָדַיmy clothesלָהֶםto themוְעַל־לְבוּשִׁיand upon my clothingיַפִּילוּthey castגוֹרָל׃a lot

    They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

20. 20

    וְאַתָּהbut YouיְהֹוָהO LORDאַל־תִּרְחָקdo not be distantאֱיָלוּתִיO my strengthלְעֶזְרָתִיto my helpחוּשָׁה׃make haste

    But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.

21. 21

    הַצִּילָהdeliverמֵחֶרֶבfrom the sword ofנַפְשִׁיmy soulמִיַּד־כֶּלֶבfrom the power of the dogיְחִידָתִי׃my only life

    Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.

22. 22

    הוֹשִׁיעֵנִיsave meמִפִּיfrom the mouth ofאַרְיֵהa lionוּמִקַּרְנֵיand from the horns ofרֵמִיםwild oxenעֲנִיתָנִי׃You have answered me

    Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.

23. 23

    אֲסַפְּרָהI will tell ofשִׁמְךָYour nameלְאֶחָיto my brothersבְּתוֹךְamongקָהָלthe congregationאֲהַלְלֶךָּ׃I will give You thanks

    I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

24. 24

    יִרְאֵיyou who fearיְהֹוָהthe LORDהַלְלוּהוּpraise Himכׇּל־זֶרַעall the seed ofיַעֲקֹבJacobכַּבְּדוּהוּglorify Himוְגוּרוּand stand in aweמִמֶּנּוּof Himכׇּל־זֶרַעall the seed ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

    Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.

25. 25

    כִּיforלֹא־בָזָהHe has not despisedוְלֹאand notשִׁקַּץHe has abhorredעֱנוּתthe affliction ofעָנִיthe afflictedוְלֹא־הִסְתִּירnor has He hiddenפָּנָיוHis faceמִמֶּנּוּfrom himוּבְשַׁוְּעוֹbut when he criedאֵלָיוto Himשָׁמֵעַ׃He heard

    For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.

26. 26

    מֵאִתְּךָfrom Youתְּהִלָּתִיmy praiseבְּקָהָלin the congregationרָבgreatנְדָרַיmy vowsאֲשַׁלֵּםI shall repayנֶגֶדbeforeיְרֵאָיו׃those who fear Him

    My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.

27. 27

    יֹאכְלוּshall eatעֲנָוִיםthe humbleוְיִשְׂבָּעוּso they may be satisfiedיְהַלְלוּthey will praiseיְהֹוָהthe LORDדֹּרְשָׁיוthose who seek Himיְחִיlet liveלְבַבְכֶםyour heartלָעַד׃forever

    The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.

28. 28

    יִזְכְּרוּshall rememberוְיָשֻׁבוּso they may turn backאֶל־יְהֹוָהto the LORDכׇּל־אַפְסֵי־אָרֶץall the ends of the earthוְיִשְׁתַּחֲווּand shall worshipלְפָנֶיךָbefore Youכׇּל־מִשְׁפְּחוֹתall families ofגּוֹיִם׃nations

    All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

29. 29

    כִּיforלַיהֹוָהto the LORDהַמְּלוּכָהthe kingdomוּמֹשֵׁלand He rulesבַּגּוֹיִם׃over the nations

    For the kingdom is the LORD's: and he is the governor among the nations.

30. 30

    אָכְלוּshall eatוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּand worshipכׇּל־דִּשְׁנֵי־אֶרֶץall the fat ones of the earthלְפָנָיוbefore Himיִכְרְעוּthey will bow downכׇּל־יוֹרְדֵיall who go downעָפָרto the dustוְנַפְשׁוֹand his soulלֹאnotחִיָּה׃he has kept alive

    All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

31. 31

    זֶרַעa seedיַעַבְדֶנּוּhe will serve himיְסֻפַּרit shall be toldלַאדֹנָיto the Lordלַדּוֹר׃unto the generation

    A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

32. 32

    יָבֹאוּthey shall comeוְיַגִּידוּso they may tellצִדְקָתוֹhis righteousnessלְעַםa peopleנוֹלָדyet to be bornכִּיthatעָשָׂה׃He has done it

    They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.
