   To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD, who spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said,

   וַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאֶרְחׇמְךָer/chom/KHAI love YouיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDחִזְקִי׃chiz/KImy strength

   I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

3. 3

   יְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDסַלְעִיsal/Imy rockוּמְצוּדָתִיu/me/tsu/da/TIand my fortressוּמְפַלְטִיu/me/fal/TIand my delivererאֵלִיe/LImy Godצוּרִיtsu/RImy rockאֶחֱסֶה־בּוֹe/che/SE-boin whom I take refugeמָגִנִּיma/gin/NImy shieldוְקֶרֶן־יִשְׁעִיve/KE/ren-yish/Iand the horn of my salvationמִשְׂגַּבִּי׃mis/gab/BImy high tower

   The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

   מְהֻלָּלme/hul/LALpraisedאֶקְרָאek/RAI callיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוּמִן־אֹיְבַיu/MIN-oy/VAYand from my enemiesאִוָּשֵׁעַ׃iv/va/SHE/aI am saved

   I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

   אֲפָפוּנִיa/fa/FU/nithey encompassed meחֶבְלֵי־מָוֶתchev/LE-MA/vetthe cords of deathוְנַחֲלֵיve/na/cha/LEand the torrents ofבְלִיַּעַלve/liy/YA/alworthlessnessיְבַעֲתוּנִי׃ye/va/a/TU/nithey overwhelmed me

   The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

   חֶבְלֵיchev/LEthe cords ofשְׁאוֹלShe/OLSheolסְבָבוּנִיse/va/VU/nithey surrounded meקִדְּמוּנִיkid/de/MU/niconfronted meמוֹקְשֵׁיMOK/shethe snares ofמָוֶת׃MA/vetdeath

   The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

   בַּצַּר־לִיbats/TSAR-liin my distressאֶקְרָאek/RAI callיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְאֶל־אֱלֹהַיve/EL-e/lo/HAYand to my Godאֲשַׁוֵּעַa/shav/VE/aI cry outיִשְׁמַעyish/MAHe hearsמֵהֵיכָלוֹme/he/kha/LOfrom His templeקוֹלִיko/LImy voiceוְשַׁוְעָתִיve/shav/a/TIand my cry for helpלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore Himתָּבוֹאta/VOshall comeבְאׇזְנָיו׃ve/oz/NAYVinto His ears

   In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

   וַתִּגְעַשׁvat/tig/ASHand it shookוַתִּרְעַשׁvat/tir/ASHand quakedהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthוּמוֹסְדֵיu/mos/DEand the foundations ofהָרִיםha/RIMmountainsיִרְגָּזוּyir/GA/zutrembledוַיִּתְגָּעֲשׁוּvay/yit/ga/a/SHUand shookכִּי־חָרָהki-CHA/rabecause it burnedלוֹ׃loto Him

   Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

   עָלָהa/LAwent upעָשָׁןa/SHANsmokeבְּאַפּוֹbe/ap/POfrom His nostrilsוְאֵשׁ־מִפִּיוve/ESH-mip/PIVand fire from His mouthתֹּאכֵלto/KHELdevouredגֶּחָלִיםge/cha/LIMcoalsבָּעֲרוּba/a/RUburnedמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nufrom Him

   There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

    וַיֵּטvay/YETand He bowedשָׁמַיִםsha/MA/yimthe heavensוַיֵּרַדvay/ye/RADand He came downוַעֲרָפֶלva/a/ra/FELand thick darknessתַּחַתTA/chatunderרַגְלָיו׃rag/LAYVHis feet

    He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

11. 11

    וַיִּרְכַּבvay/yir/KAVand He rodeעַל־כְּרוּבal-ke/RUVupon a cherubוַיָּעֹףvay/ya/OFand He flewוַיֵּדֶאvay/YE/deand He soaredעַל־כַּנְפֵי־רוּחַ׃al-kan/FE-RU/achupon the wings of the wind

    And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

    יָשֶׁת־חֹשֶׁךְYA/shet-CHO/shekhHe made darknessסִתְרוֹsit/ROHis coveringסְבִיבוֹתָיוse/vi/vo/TAYVaround Himסֻכָּתוֹsuk/ka/TOHis pavilionחֶשְׁכַת־מַיִםchesh/KHAT-MA/yimdarkness of waterעָבֵיa/VEthick clouds ofשְׁחָקִים׃she/cha/KIMthe skies

    He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

    מִנֹּגַהּmin/NO/gathrough the brightnessנֶגְדּוֹneg/DObefore Himעָבָיוa/VAYVHis dark cloudsעָבְרוּa/ve/RUpassedבָּרָדba/RADhailוְגַחֲלֵי־אֵשׁ׃ve/ga/cha/LE-eshand coals of fire

    At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

    וַיַּרְעֵםvay/yar/EMand thunderedבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin the heavensיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְעֶלְיוֹןve/El/YONand the Most Highיִתֵּןyit/TENgaveקֹלוֹko/LOHis voiceבָּרָדba/RADhailוְגַחֲלֵי־אֵשׁ׃ve/ga/cha/LE-eshand coals of fire

    The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

15. 15

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand He sent outחִצָּיוchits/TSAYVHis arrowsוַיְפִיצֵםvay/fi/TSEMand He scattered themוּבְרָקִיםu/ve/ra/KIMand lightningsרָבravmanyוַיְהֻמֵּם׃vay/hum/MEMand He routed them

    Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

16. 16

    וַיֵּרָאוּvay/ye/ra/Uand appearedאֲפִיקֵיa/fi/KEthe channels ofמַיִםMA/yimwaterוַיִּגָּלוּvay/yig/ga/LUand were uncoveredמוֹסְדוֹתmos/DOTthe foundations ofתֵּבֵלte/VELthe worldמִגַּעֲרָתְךָmig/ga/a/ra/te/KHAat Your rebukeיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDמִנִּשְׁמַתmin/nish/MATat the blast ofרוּחַRU/achthe breath ofאַפֶּךָ׃ap/PE/khaYour nostrils

    Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

17. 17

    יִשְׁלַחyish/LACHHe sentמִמָּרוֹםmim/ma/ROMfrom aboveיִקָּחֵנִיyik/ka/CHE/niHe took meיַמְשֵׁנִיyam/SHE/niHe drew me outמִמַּיִםmim/MA/yimout of watersרַבִּים׃rab/BIMmany

    He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.

18. 18

    יַצִּילֵנִיyats/tsi/LE/niHe delivered meמֵאֹיְבִיme/oy/VIfrom my enemyעָזazstrongוּמִשֹּׂנְאַיu/mis/son/AYand from those who hated meכִּי־אָמְצוּki-a/me/TSUfor they were too strongמִמֶּנִּי׃mim/MEN/nithan I

    He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

19. 19

    יְקַדְּמוּנִיye/kad/de/MU/nithey confronted meבְיוֹם־אֵידִיve/YOM-e/DIin the day of my calamityוַיְהִי־יְהֹוָהvay/HI-Adonaibut the LORD wasלְמִשְׁעָןle/mish/ANa supportלִי׃lito me

    They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.

20. 20

    וַיּוֹצִיאֵנִיvay/yo/tsi/E/niHe brought me outלַמֶּרְחָבlam/mer/CHAVinto a broad placeיְחַלְּצֵנִיye/chal/le/TSE/niHe rescued meכִּי־חָפֵץ־בִּי׃ki-cha/FETS-bibecause He delighted in me

    He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

21. 21

    יִגְמְלֵנִיyig/me/LE/nirepaid meיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכְּצִדְקִיke/tsid/KIaccording to my righteousnessכְּבֹרke/VORaccording to the cleanness ofיָדַיya/DAYmy handsיָשִׁיבya/SHIVHe returnedלִי׃lito me

    The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

22. 22

    כִּי־שָׁמַרְתִּיki-sha/MAR/tifor I have keptדַּרְכֵיdar/KHEthe ways ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹא־רָשַׁעְתִּיve/LO-ra/SHA/tiand have not done wickedlyמֵאֱלֹהָי׃me/e/lo/HAYfrom my God

    For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

23. 23

    כִּיkiforכׇל־מִשְׁפָּטָיוkhol-mish/pa/TAYVall His judgmentsלְנֶגְדִּיle/neg/DIwere before meוְחֻקֹּתָיוve/chuk/ko/TAYVand His statutesלֹא־אָסִירlo-a/SIRI did not put awayמֶנִּי׃MEN/nifrom me

    For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.

24. 24

    וָאֱהִיva/e/HIand I wasתָמִיםta/MIMblamelessעִמּוֹim/MOwith Himוָאֶשְׁתַּמֵּרva/esh/tam/MERand I kept myselfמֵעֲוֺנִי׃me/a/vo/NIfrom my iniquity

    I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.

25. 25

    וַיָּשֶׁב־יְהֹוָהvay/YA/shev-Adonaiand the LORD has repaidלִיlito meכְצִדְקִיkhe/tsid/KIaccording to my righteousnessכְּבֹרke/VORaccording to the cleanness ofיָדַיya/DAYmy handsלְנֶגֶדle/NE/gedin the sight ofעֵינָיו׃e/NAYVHis eyes

    Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

26. 26

    עִם־חָסִידim-cha/SIDwith the loyalתִּתְחַסָּדtit/chas/SADYou show Yourself loyalעִם־גְּבַרim-ge/VARwith a manתָּמִיםta/MIMblamelessתִּתַּמָּם׃tit/tam/MAMYou show Yourself blameless

    With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;

27. 27

    עִם־נָבָרim-na/VARwith the pureתִּתְבָּרָרtit/ba/RARYou show Yourself pureוְעִם־עִקֵּשׁve/IM-ik/KESHand with the crookedתִּתְפַּתָּל׃tit/pat/TALYou show Yourself shrewd

    With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

28. 28

    כִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAfor Youעַם־עָנִיam-a/NIan afflicted peopleתוֹשִׁיעַto/SHI/aYou will saveוְעֵינַיִםve/e/NA/yimbut eyesרָמוֹתra/MOThaughtyתַּשְׁפִּיל׃tash/PILYou bring down

    For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

29. 29

    כִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAfor Youתָּאִירta/IRlight upנֵרִיne/RImy lampיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהַיe/lo/HAYmy Godיַגִּיהַּyag/GI/ahlights upחׇשְׁכִּי׃chosh/KImy darkness

    For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

30. 30

    כִּי־בְךָki-ve/KHAbecause in Youאָרֻץa/RUTSI can run throughגְּדוּדge/DUDa troopוּבֵאלֹהַיu/ve/lo/HAYand by my Godאֲדַלֶּג־שׁוּר׃a/dal/LEG-shurI leap over a wall

    For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

31. 31

    הָאֵלha/ELGodתָּמִיםta/MIMblamelessדַּרְכּוֹdar/KOHis wayאִמְרַת־יְהֹוָהim/RAT-Adonaithe word of the LORDצְרוּפָהtse/ru/FAis refinedמָגֵןma/GENa shieldהוּאhuHe isלְכֹלle/KHOLfor allהַחֹסִיםha/cho/SIMwho take refugeבּוֹ׃boin Him

    As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

32. 32

    כִּיkiforמִיmiwhoאֱלוֹהַּe/LO/ahis Godמִבַּלְעֲדֵיmib/bal/a/DEbesidesיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוּמִיu/MIand whoצוּרtsuris a rockזוּלָתִיzu/la/TIbesidesאֱלֹהֵינוּ׃e/lo/HE/nuour God

    For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

33. 33

    הָאֵלha/ELGodהַמְאַזְּרֵנִיham/az/ze/RE/niwho girds meחָיִלCHA/yilwith strengthוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand makesתָּמִיםta/MIMblamelessדַּרְכִּי׃dar/KImy way

    It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

34. 34

    מְשַׁוֶּהme/shav/VEHe makesרַגְלַיrag/LAYmy feetכָּאַיָּלוֹתka/ay/ya/LOTlike the deerוְעַלve/ALand uponבָּמֹתַיba/mo/TAYmy heightsיַעֲמִידֵנִי׃ya/a/mi/DE/niHe sets me

    He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

35. 35

    מְלַמֵּדme/lam/MEDHe teachesיָדַיya/DAYmy handsלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAfor warוְנִחֲתָהve/ni/cha/TAand is bentקֶשֶׁת־נְחוּשָׁהKE/shet-ne/chu/SHAa bow of bronzeזְרוֹעֹתָי׃ze/ro/o/TAYby my arms

    He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

36. 36

    וַתִּתֶּן־לִיvat/TIT/ten-liand You have given meמָגֵןma/GENthe shield ofיִשְׁעֶךָyish/E/khaYour salvationוִימִינְךָvi/mi/ne/KHAand Your right handתִסְעָדֵנִיtis/a/DE/nihas held me upוְעַנְוַתְךָve/an/vat/KHAand Your gentlenessתַרְבֵּנִי׃tar/BE/nihas made me great

    Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

37. 37

    תַּרְחִיבtar/CHIVYou enlargeצַעֲדִיtsa/a/DImy stepsתַחְתָּיtach/TAYunder meוְלֹאve/LOand notמָעֲדוּma/a/DUhave slippedקַרְסֻלָּי׃kar/sul/LAYmy ankles

    Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

38. 38

    אֶרְדּוֹףer/DOFI pursuedאוֹיְבַיoy/VAYmy enemiesוְאַשִּׂיגֵםve/as/si/GEMand I overtook themוְלֹא־אָשׁוּבve/LO-a/SHUVand I did not turn backעַד־כַּלּוֹתָם׃ad-kal/lo/TAMuntil I finished them

    I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

39. 39

    אֶמְחָצֵםem/cha/TSEMI struck themוְלֹא־יֻכְלוּve/LO-YUKH/luso they could notקוּםkumariseיִפְּלוּyip/pe/LUthey fellתַּחַתTA/chatunderרַגְלָי׃rag/LAYmy feet

    I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.

40. 40

    וַתְּאַזְּרֵנִיvat/te/az/ze/RE/niand You girded meחַיִלCHA/yilwith strengthלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAfor warתַּכְרִיעַtakh/RI/aYou made bowקָמַיka/MAYthose who rise against meתַּחְתָּי׃tach/TAYunder me

    For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

41. 41

    וְאֹיְבַיve/oy/VAYand my foesנָתַתָּהna/TAT/taYou have givenלִּיlito meעֹרֶףO/refthe neckוּמְשַׂנְאַיu/me/san/AYand those who hated meאַצְמִיתֵם׃ats/mi/TEMI destroyed them

    Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.

42. 42

    יְשַׁוְּעוּye/shav/ve/Uthey cry for helpוְאֵין־מוֹשִׁיעַve/EN-mo/SHI/aand there was none to saveעַל־יְהֹוָהal-Adonaito the LORDוְלֹאve/LOand notעָנָם׃a/NAMHe answered them

    They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

43. 43

    וְאֶשְׁחָקֵםve/esh/cha/KEMand I beat them smallכְּעָפָרke/a/FARlike dustעַל־פְּנֵי־רוּחַal-pe/NE-RU/achbefore the windכְּטִיטke/TITlike the mud ofחוּצוֹתchu/TSOTthe streetsאֲרִיקֵם׃a/ri/KEMI poured them out

    Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.

44. 44

    תְּפַלְּטֵנִיte/fal/le/te/NIYou delivered meמֵרִיבֵיme/RI/vefrom the strivings ofעָםama peopleתְּשִׂימֵנִיte/si/ME/niYou appointed meלְרֹאשׁle/ROSHas head ofגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsעַםama peopleלֹא־יָדַעְתִּיlo-ya/DA/tiI had not knownיַעַבְדוּנִי׃ya/av/DU/nithey shall serve me

    Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

45. 45

    לְשֵׁמַעle/SHE/mato the hearing ofאֹזֶןO/zenthe earיִשָּׁמְעוּyish/SHAM/uthey obeyלִיlito meבְּנֵי־נֵכָרbe/NE-ne/KHARsons of the strangerיְכַחֲשׁוּ־לִי׃ye/kha/cha/SHU-licringe before me

    As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.

46. 46

    בְּנֵי־נֵכָרbe/NE-ne/KHARsons of the strangerיִבֹּלוּyib/BO/luwitherוְיַחְרְגוּve/yach/re/GUand come tremblingמִמִּסְגְּרוֹתֵיהֶם׃mim/mis/ge/ro/te/HEMfrom their strongholds

    The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.

47. 47

    חַי־יְהֹוָהchay-Adonaithe LORD livesוּבָרוּךְu/va/RUKHand blessed beצוּרִיtsu/RImy rockוְיָרוּםve/ya/RUMand exalted beאֱלוֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׁעִי׃yish/Imy salvation

    The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

48. 48

    הָאֵלha/ELGodהַנּוֹתֵןhan/no/TENwho givesנְקָמוֹתne/ka/MOTvengeanceלִיlito meוַיַּדְבֵּרvay/yad/BERand subduesעַמִּיםam/MIMpeoplesתַּחְתָּי׃tach/TAYunder me

    It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.

49. 49

    מְפַלְּטִיme/fal/le/TIHe delivers meמֵאֹיְבָיme/oy/VAYfrom my enemiesאַףafmoreoverמִן־קָמַיmin-ka/MAYfrom those who rise against meתְּרוֹמְמֵנִיte/rom/ME/niYou lift me upמֵאִישׁme/ISHfrom the man ofחָמָסcha/MASviolenceתַּצִּילֵנִי׃tats/tsi/LE/niYou deliver me

    He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

50. 50

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאוֹדְךָod/KHAI will praise Youבַגּוֹיִםvag/go/YIMamong the nationsיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDוּלְשִׁמְךָu/le/shim/KHAand to Your nameאֲזַמֵּרָה׃a/zam/ME/raI will sing praises

    Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.

51. 51

    מַגְדִּלmag/DILHe magnifiesיְשׁוּעוֹתye/shu/OTsalvation ofמַלְכּוֹmal/KOHis kingוְעֹשֶׂהve/O/seand showsחֶסֶדCHE/sedkindnessלִמְשִׁיחוֹlim/shi/CHOto His anointedלְדָוִדle/Da/VIDto Davidוּלְזַרְעוֹu/le/zar/Oand to his offspringעַד־עוֹלָם׃ad-o/LAMforever

    Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.
