   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianלְעֶבֶדof the servant ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְדָוִדof Davidאֲשֶׁרwhichדִּבֶּרspokeלַיהֹוָהto the LORDאֶת־דִּבְרֵיthe words ofהַשִּׁירָהthe songהַזֹּאתthisבְּיוֹםin the day ofהִצִּיל־יְהֹוָה־אוֹתוֹthe LORD delivered himמִכַּףfrom the hand ofכׇּל־אֹיְבָיוall his enemiesוּמִיַּדand from the hand ofשָׁאוּל׃Saul

   To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD, who spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said,

   וַיֹּאמַרand saidאֶרְחׇמְךָI love YouיְהֹוָהO LORDחִזְקִי׃my strength

   I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

3. 3

   יְהֹוָהthe LORDסַלְעִיmy rockוּמְצוּדָתִיand my fortressוּמְפַלְטִיand my delivererאֵלִיmy Godצוּרִיmy rockאֶחֱסֶה־בּוֹin whom I take refugeמָגִנִּיmy shieldוְקֶרֶן־יִשְׁעִיand the horn of my salvationמִשְׂגַּבִּי׃my high tower

   The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

   מְהֻלָּלpraisedאֶקְרָאI callיְהֹוָהthe LORDוּמִן־אֹיְבַיand from my enemiesאִוָּשֵׁעַ׃I was saved

   I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

5. 5

   אֲפָפוּנִיthey encompassed meחֶבְלֵי־מָוֶתpains of deathוְנַחֲלֵיand the torrents ofבְלִיַּעַלBelialיְבַעֲתוּנִי׃they overwhelmed me

   The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

   חֶבְלֵיpains ofשְׁאוֹלSheolסְבָבוּנִיthey surrounded meקִדְּמוּנִיconfronted meמוֹקְשֵׁיthe snares ofמָוֶת׃death

   The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

7. 7

   בַּצַּר־לִיin my distressאֶקְרָאI callיְהֹוָהthe LORDוְאֶל־אֱלֹהַיand to my GodאֲשַׁוֵּעַI cry outיִשְׁמַעHe hearsמֵהֵיכָלוֹfrom His templeקוֹלִיmy voiceוְשַׁוְעָתִיand my cry for helpלְפָנָיוbefore Himתָּבוֹאshall comeבְאׇזְנָיו׃into His ears

   In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

8. 8

   וַתִּגְעַשׁand it shookוַתִּרְעַשׁand trembledהָאָרֶץthe earthוּמוֹסְדֵיand the foundations ofהָרִיםmountainsיִרְגָּזוּtrembledוַיִּתְגָּעֲשׁוּand shookכִּי־חָרָהbecause He was angryלוֹ׃to Him

   Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

   עָלָהascendedעָשָׁןsmokeבְּאַפּוֹin His nostrilsוְאֵשׁ־מִפִּיוand fire from His mouthתֹּאכֵלdevouredגֶּחָלִיםcoalsבָּעֲרוּwere kindledמִמֶּנּוּ׃from it

   There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

    וַיֵּטand He bowedשָׁמַיִםthe heavensוַיֵּרַדand He came downוַעֲרָפֶלand darknessתַּחַתunderרַגְלָיו׃His feet

    He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

11. 11

    וַיִּרְכַּבand He rodeעַל־כְּרוּבupon a cherubוַיָּעֹףand He flewוַיֵּדֶאand He soaredעַל־כַּנְפֵי־רוּחַ׃upon the wings of the wind

    And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

    יָשֶׁת־חֹשֶׁךְHe made darknessסִתְרוֹHis coveringסְבִיבוֹתָיוaround HimסֻכָּתוֹHis pavilionחֶשְׁכַת־מַיִםdarkness of waterעָבֵיdark clouds ofשְׁחָקִים׃clouds

    He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

13. 13

    מִנֹּגַהּfrom the brightnessנֶגְדּוֹbefore HimעָבָיוHis dark cloudsעָבְרוּpassedבָּרָדhailוְגַחֲלֵי־אֵשׁ׃and coals of fire

    At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

14. 14

    וַיַּרְעֵםand he thunderedבַּשָּׁמַיִםin the heavensיְהֹוָהthe LORDוְעֶלְיוֹןand the Most HighיִתֵּןgaveקֹלוֹHis voiceבָּרָדhailוְגַחֲלֵי־אֵשׁ׃and coals of fire

    The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

15. 15

    וַיִּשְׁלַחand He sentחִצָּיוHis arrowsוַיְפִיצֵםand He scattered themוּבְרָקִיםand lightningsרָבmanyוַיְהֻמֵּם׃and He routed them

    Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

16. 16

    וַיֵּרָאוּand were seenאֲפִיקֵיthe channels ofמַיִםwaterוַיִּגָּלוּand were uncoveredמוֹסְדוֹתthe foundations ofתֵּבֵלthe worldמִגַּעֲרָתְךָat Your rebukeיְהֹוָהO LORDמִנִּשְׁמַתat the blast ofרוּחַbreathאַפֶּךָ׃Your nostrils

    Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

17. 17

    יִשְׁלַחHe sentמִמָּרוֹםfrom aboveיִקָּחֵנִיHe took meיַמְשֵׁנִיHe drew meמִמַּיִםout of watersרַבִּים׃many

    He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.

18. 18

    יַצִּילֵנִיHe delivered meמֵאֹיְבִיfrom my enemyעָזstrongוּמִשֹּׂנְאַיand from those who hated meכִּי־אָמְצוּfor they were too strongמִמֶּנִּי׃from me

    He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

19. 19

    יְקַדְּמוּנִיthey confronted meבְיוֹם־אֵידִיin the day of my calamityוַיְהִי־יְהֹוָהbut the LORD wasלְמִשְׁעָןa supportלִי׃to me

    They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.

20. 20

    וַיּוֹצִיאֵנִיHe brought me outלַמֶּרְחָבinto a broad placeיְחַלְּצֵנִיHe delivered meכִּי־חָפֵץ־בִּי׃because He delighted in me

    He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

21. 21

    יִגְמְלֵנִיhas rewarded meיְהֹוָהthe LORDכְּצִדְקִיaccording to my righteousnessכְּבֹרaccording to the cleanness ofיָדַיmy handsיָשִׁיבHe shall repayלִי׃to me

    The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

22. 22

    כִּי־שָׁמַרְתִּיfor I have keptדַּרְכֵיthe ways ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוְלֹא־רָשַׁעְתִּיand have not wickedly departedמֵאֱלֹהָי׃from my God

    For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

23. 23

    כִּיforכׇל־מִשְׁפָּטָיוall His judgmentsלְנֶגְדִּיbefore meוְחֻקֹּתָיוand His statutesלֹא־אָסִירI did not put awayמֶנִּי׃from me

    For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.

24. 24

    וָאֱהִיand I wasתָמִיםblamelessעִמּוֹwith himוָאֶשְׁתַּמֵּרand I kept myselfמֵעֲוֺנִי׃from my iniquity

    I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.

25. 25

    וַיָּשֶׁב־יְהֹוָהand the LORD has rewardedלִיto meכְצִדְקִיaccording to my righteousnessכְּבֹרaccording to the cleanness ofיָדַיmy handsלְנֶגֶדbeforeעֵינָיו׃his eyes

    Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

26. 26

    עִם־חָסִידwith the mercifulתִּתְחַסָּדYou will show Yourself mercifulעִם־גְּבַרwith a manתָּמִיםblamelessתִּתַּמָּם׃You will show Yourself blameless

    With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;

27. 27

    עִם־נָבָרwith the pureתִּתְבָּרָרYou will show Yourself pureוְעִם־עִקֵּשׁand with the deviousתִּתְפַּתָּל׃You will show Yourself subtle

    With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

28. 28

    כִּי־אַתָּהfor Youעַם־עָנִיan afflicted peopleתוֹשִׁיעַYou will saveוְעֵינַיִםbut eyesרָמוֹתhaughtyתַּשְׁפִּיל׃You will bring down

    For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

29. 29

    כִּי־אַתָּהfor Youתָּאִירlight upנֵרִיmy lampיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהַיmy Godיַגִּיהַּwill enlightenחׇשְׁכִּי׃my darkness

    For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

30. 30

    כִּי־בְךָbecause in YouאָרֻץI can run throughגְּדוּדa troopוּבֵאלֹהַיand by my Godאֲדַלֶּג־שׁוּר׃I can leap over a wall

    For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

31. 31

    הָאֵלthe GodתָּמִיםperfectדַּרְכּוֹHis wayאִמְרַת־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDצְרוּפָהis refinedמָגֵןa shieldהוּאHeלְכֹלfor allהַחֹסִיםthose who trustבּוֹ׃in Him

    As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

32. 32

    כִּיforמִיwhoאֱלוֹהַּGodמִבַּלְעֲדֵיother thanיְהֹוָהthe LORDוּמִיand whoצוּרa rockזוּלָתִיbesidesאֱלֹהֵינוּ׃our God

    For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

33. 33

    הָאֵלthe Godהַמְאַזְּרֵנִיwho girds meחָיִלwith strengthוַיִּתֵּןand madeתָּמִיםperfectדַּרְכִּי׃my way

    It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

34. 34

    מְשַׁוֶּהHe makesרַגְלַיmy feetכָּאַיָּלוֹתlike the deerוְעַלand uponבָּמֹתַיmy high placesיַעֲמִידֵנִי׃He sets me

    He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

35. 35

    מְלַמֵּדHe teachesיָדַיmy handsלַמִּלְחָמָהfor warוְנִחֲתָהand is bentקֶשֶׁת־נְחוּשָׁהa bow of bronzeזְרוֹעֹתָי׃by my arms

    He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

36. 36

    וַתִּתֶּן־לִיYou have given meמָגֵןthe shield ofיִשְׁעֶךָYour salvationוִימִינְךָand Your right handתִסְעָדֵנִיhas held me upוְעַנְוַתְךָand Your gentlenessתַרְבֵּנִי׃has made me great

    Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

37. 37

    תַּרְחִיבYou enlargedצַעֲדִיmy stepsתַחְתָּיunder meוְלֹאand notמָעֲדוּhave slippedקַרְסֻלָּי׃my ankles

    Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

38. 38

    אֶרְדּוֹףI pursuedאוֹיְבַיmy enemiesוְאַשִּׂיגֵםand I overtook themוְלֹא־אָשׁוּבand I did not turn backעַד־כַּלּוֹתָם׃until they were consumed

    I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

39. 39

    אֶמְחָצֵםI struck themוְלֹא־יֻכְלוּso they could notקוּםariseיִפְּלוּshall fallתַּחַתunderרַגְלָי׃my feet

    I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.

40. 40

    וַתְּאַזְּרֵנִיand You girded meחַיִלwith strengthלַמִּלְחָמָהfor warתַּכְרִיעַYou made bow downקָמַיthose who rise against meתַּחְתָּי׃under me

    For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

41. 41

    וְאֹיְבַיand my foesנָתַתָּהYou have givenלִּיto meעֹרֶףthe neckוּמְשַׂנְאַיand those who hated meאַצְמִיתֵם׃I destroyed them

    Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.

42. 42

    יְשַׁוְּעוּthey cry for helpוְאֵין־מוֹשִׁיעַand there is no Saviorעַל־יְהֹוָהupon the LORDוְלֹאand notעָנָם׃He answered them

    They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

43. 43

    וְאֶשְׁחָקֵםand I beat them smallכְּעָפָרlike dustעַל־פְּנֵי־רוּחַbefore the windכְּטִיטlike the mud ofחוּצוֹתthe streetsאֲרִיקֵם׃I poured them out

    Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.

44. 44

    תְּפַלְּטֵנִיYou delivered meמֵרִיבֵיfrom the strifes ofעָםa peopleתְּשִׂימֵנִיYou appointed meלְרֹאשׁthe head ofגּוֹיִםnationsעַםpeopleלֹא־יָדַעְתִּיI have not knownיַעַבְדוּנִי׃they shall serve me

    Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

45. 45

    לְשֵׁמַעto the hearing ofאֹזֶןan earיִשָּׁמְעוּthey shall obeyלִיto meבְּנֵי־נֵכָרsons of the strangerיְכַחֲשׁוּ־לִי׃shall cringe before me

    As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.

46. 46

    בְּנֵי־נֵכָרsons of the strangerיִבֹּלוּshall fade awayוְיַחְרְגוּand shall come tremblingמִמִּסְגְּרוֹתֵיהֶם׃from their strongholds

    The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.

47. 47

    חַי־יְהֹוָהthe LORD livesוּבָרוּךְand blessedצוּרִיmy rockוְיָרוּםand shall be exaltedאֱלוֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׁעִי׃my salvation

    The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

48. 48

    הָאֵלthe Godהַנּוֹתֵןwho givesנְקָמוֹתvengeanceלִיto meוַיַּדְבֵּרand He has subduedעַמִּיםpeoplesתַּחְתָּי׃under me

    It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.

49. 49

    מְפַלְּטִיHe delivers meמֵאֹיְבָיfrom my enemiesאַףmoreoverמִן־קָמַיfrom those who rise against meתְּרוֹמְמֵנִיYou lift me upמֵאִישׁfrom the man ofחָמָסviolenceתַּצִּילֵנִי׃You deliver me

    He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

50. 50

    עַל־כֵּןthereforeאוֹדְךָI will praise Youבַגּוֹיִםamong the nationsיְהֹוָהO LORDוּלְשִׁמְךָand to Your nameאֲזַמֵּרָה׃I will sing praises

    Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.

51. 51

    מַגְדִּלHe magnifiesיְשׁוּעוֹתsalvation ofמַלְכּוֹHis kingוְעֹשֶׂהand showsחֶסֶדmercyלִמְשִׁיחוֹto his anointedלְדָוִדof Davidוּלְזַרְעוֹand for his offspringעַד־עוֹלָם׃forever

    Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.
