    תְּפִלָּהa prayerלְדָוִדof DavidשִׁמְעָהhearיְהֹוָהO LORDצֶדֶקa just causeהַקְשִׁיבָהattendרִנָּתִיto my cryהַאֲזִינָהgive earתְפִלָּתִיto my prayerבְּלֹאwithoutשִׂפְתֵיthe lips ofמִרְמָה׃deceit

    A Prayer of David. Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

    מִלְּפָנֶיךָfrom Your presenceמִשְׁפָּטִיmy vindicationיֵצֵאlet go forthעֵינֶיךָYour eyesתֶּחֱזֶינָהlet them beholdמֵישָׁרִים׃equity

    Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

    בָּחַנְתָּYou have testedלִבִּיmy heartפָּקַדְתָּYou have visitedלַּיְלָהin the nightצְרַפְתַּנִיYou have tried meבַל־תִּמְצָאYou find nothingזַמֹּתִיI have purposedבַּל־יַעֲבׇר־פִּי׃that my mouth shall not transgress

    Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

    לִפְעֻלּוֹתconcerning the works ofאָדָםmanבִּדְבַרby the word ofשְׂפָתֶיךָYour lipsאֲנִיIשָׁמַרְתִּיI have kept fromאׇרְחוֹתthe paths ofפָּרִיץ׃the violent one

    Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

    תָּמֹךְupholdאֲשֻׁרַיmy stepsבְּמַעְגְּלוֹתֶיךָin Your pathsבַּל־נָמוֹטּוּthey have not slippedפְעָמָי׃my footsteps

    Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

    אֲנִי־קְרָאתִיךָI have called upon Youכִי־תַעֲנֵנִיfor You will hear meאֵלO Godהַט־אׇזְנְךָincline Your earלִיto meשְׁמַעhearאִמְרָתִי׃my speech

    I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

    הַפְלֵהshow marvelouslyחֲסָדֶיךָYour lovingkindnessesמוֹשִׁיעַwho savesחוֹסִיםthose who take refugeמִמִּתְקוֹמְמִיםfrom those who rise upבִּימִינֶךָ׃by Your right hand

    Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

    שׇׁמְרֵנִיpreserve meכְּאִישׁוֹןas the apple ofבַּת־עָיִןthe eyeבְּצֵלunder the shadow ofכְּנָפֶיךָYour wingsתַּסְתִּירֵנִי׃hide me

    Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

    מִפְּנֵיbecause ofרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedזוּwhichשַׁדּוּנִיoppress meאֹיְבַיmy enemiesבְּנֶפֶשׁdeadlyיַקִּיפוּsurroundעָלָי׃against me

    From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

    חֶלְבָּמוֹtheir fatסָּגְרוּthey have closed upפִּימוֹwith their mouthדִּבְּרוּthey speakבְגֵאוּת׃proudly

    They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

    אַשֻּׁרֵינוּin our stepsעַתָּהnow(סבבוני)[סְבָבוּנוּ]they have surrounded usעֵינֵיהֶםtheir eyesיָשִׁיתוּthey have setלִנְטוֹתto cast downבָּאָרֶץ׃to the earth

    They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;

    דִּמְיֹנוֹhis likenessכְּאַרְיֵהas a lionיִכְסוֹףwho longsלִטְרֹףto tear his preyוְכִכְפִירand like a young lionיֹשֵׁבlurkingבְּמִסְתָּרִים׃in secret places

    Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

    קוּמָהariseיְהֹוָהO LORDקַדְּמָהconfrontפָנָיוhis faceהַכְרִיעֵהוּcast him downפַּלְּטָהdeliverנַפְשִׁיmy soulמֵרָשָׁעfrom the wickedחַרְבֶּךָ׃with Your sword

    Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:

    מִמְתִים־יָדְךָfrom men with Your handיְהֹוָהO LORDמִמְתִיםfrom menמֵחֶלֶדof the worldחֶלְקָםwhose portionבַּחַיִּיםis in life[וּצְפוּנְךָ]and Your treasureתְּמַלֵּאYou fillבִטְנָםtheir bellyיִשְׂבְּעוּthey are satisfiedבָנִיםwith sonsוְהִנִּיחוּand leaveיִתְרָםtheir abundanceלְעוֹלְלֵיהֶם׃for their babes

    From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

    אֲנִיIבְּצֶדֶקin righteousnessאֶחֱזֶהI shall seeפָנֶיךָYour faceאֶשְׂבְּעָהI shall be satisfiedבְהָקִיץwhen I awakeתְּמוּנָתֶךָ׃with Your likeness

    As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
