   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianמִזְמוֹרa psalmלְדָוִד׃of David

   To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

2. 2

   חַלְּצֵנִיdeliver meיְהֹוָהO LORDמֵאָדָםfrom the manרָעevilמֵאִישׁfrom the man ofחֲמָסִיםviolenceתִּנְצְרֵנִי׃preserve me

   Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;

   אֲשֶׁרwhichחָשְׁבוּimagineרָעוֹתmischiefsבְּלֵבin the heartכׇּל־יוֹםcontinuallyיָגוּרוּare they gathered together forמִלְחָמוֹת׃wars

   Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.

   שָׁנְנוּthey have sharpenedלְשׁוֹנָםtheir tonguesכְּמוֹ־נָחָשׁlike a serpentחֲמַתthe poison ofעַכְשׁוּבan adderתַּחַתis underשְׂפָתֵימוֹtheir lipsסֶלָה׃Selah

   They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.

   שׇׁמְרֵנִיkeep meיְהֹוָהO LORDמִידֵיfrom the hands ofרָשָׁעthe wickedמֵאִישׁfrom the man ofחֲמָסִיםviolenceתִּנְצְרֵנִיpreserve meאֲשֶׁרwhichחָשְׁבוּhave purposedלִדְחוֹתto thrust asideפְּעָמָי׃my steps

   Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.

   טָמְנוּ־גֵאִיםthe proud have hiddenפַּחa snareלִיto meוַחֲבָלִיםand cordsפָּרְשׂוּthey have spreadרֶשֶׁתa netלְיַד־מַעְגָּלby the waysideמֹקְשִׁיםtrapsשָׁתוּ־לִיthey have set for meסֶלָה׃Selah

   The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

   אָמַרְתִּיI saidלַיהֹוָהto the LORDאֵלִיmy GodאָתָּהYou areהַאֲזִינָהgive earיְהֹוָהO LORDקוֹלto the voice ofתַּחֲנוּנָי׃my supplications

   I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.

8. 8

   יֱהֹוִהO GODאֲדֹנָיthe Lordעֹזthe strength ofיְשׁוּעָתִיmy salvationסַכֹּתָהYou have coveredלְרֹאשִׁיmy headבְּיוֹםin the day ofנָשֶׁק׃battle

   O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

9. 9

   אַל־תִּתֵּןgrant notיְהֹוָהO LORDמַאֲוַיֵּיthe desires ofרָשָׁעthe wickedזְמָמוֹhis deviceאַל־תָּפֵקfurther notיָרוּמוּlest they exalt themselvesסֶלָה׃Selah

   Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.

10. 10

    רֹאשׁas for the head ofמְסִבָּיthose who compass me aboutעֲמַלthe mischief ofשְׂפָתֵימוֹtheir lips[יְכַסֵּימוֹ]׃let it cover them

    As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

11. 11

    (ימיטו)[יִמּוֹטוּ]let be castעֲלֵיהֶםupon themגֶּחָלִיםcoalsבָּאֵשׁinto the fireיַפִּלֵםlet them be castבְּמַהֲמֹרוֹתinto deep pitsבַּל־יָקוּמוּ׃that they rise not up

    Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.

12. 12

    אִישׁa man ofלָשׁוֹןtongueבַּל־יִכּוֹןshall not be establishedבָּאָרֶץin the earthאִישׁ־חָמָסthe violent manרָעevilיְצוּדֶנּוּshall hunt himלְמַדְחֵפֹת׃to overthrow him

    Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

13. 13

    (ידעת)[יָדַעְתִּי]I knowכִּי־יַעֲשֶׂהthat will maintainיְהֹוָהthe LORDדִּיןthe cause ofעָנִיthe afflictedמִשְׁפַּטand the right ofאֶבְיֹנִים׃the needy

    I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.

14. 14

    אַךְsurelyצַדִּיקִיםthe righteousיוֹדוּshall give thanksלִשְׁמֶךָto Your nameיֵשְׁבוּshall dwellיְשָׁרִיםthe uprightאֶת־פָּנֶיךָ׃in Your presence

    Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.
