   To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2. 2

   אַתָּהat/TAYouיָדַעְתָּya/DA/taYou knowשִׁבְתִּיshiv/TImy sitting downוְקוּמִיve/ku/MIand my rising upבַּנְתָּהBAN/taYou discernלְרֵעִיle/re/Imy thoughtמֵרָחוֹק׃me/ra/CHOKafar off

   Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

   אׇרְחִיor/CHImy pathוְרִבְעִיve/riv/Iand my lying downזֵרִיתָze/RI/taYou winnowוְכׇל־דְּרָכַיve/KHOL-de/ra/KHAYand all my waysהִסְכַּנְתָּה׃his/KAN/taYou are familiar with

   Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

   כִּיkiforאֵיןenthere is notמִלָּהmil/LAa wordבִּלְשׁוֹנִיbil/sho/NIon my tongueהֵןhenbeholdיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDיָדַעְתָּya/DA/taYou knowכֻלָּהּ׃khul/LAit altogether

   For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

   אָחוֹרa/CHORbehindוָקֶדֶםva/KE/demand beforeצַרְתָּנִיtsar/TA/niYou have hemmed me inוַתָּשֶׁתvat/TA/shetand You have laidעָלַיa/LAYupon meכַּפֶּכָה׃kap/PE/khaYour hand

   Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

   (פלאיה)falyah[פְּלִיאָה]pe/LI/atoo wonderfulדַעַתDA/atis knowledgeמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifor meנִשְׂגְּבָהnis/ge/VAit is highלֹא־אוּכַלlo-u/KHALI cannotלָהּ׃laattain it

   Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

   אָנָהA/nawhereאֵלֵךְe/LEKHshall I goמֵרוּחֶךָme/Ru/CHE/khafrom Your Spiritוְאָנָהve/A/naor whereמִפָּנֶיךָmip/pa/NE/khafrom Your presenceאֶבְרָח׃ev/RACHshall I flee

   Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

   אִם־אֶסַּקim-es/SAKif I ascend toשָׁמַיִםsha/MA/yimheavenשָׁםshamthereאָתָּהAT/taYou areוְאַצִּיעָהve/ats/TSI/aif I make my bed inשְּׁאוֹלShe/OLSheolהִנֶּךָּ׃hin/NEK/kabehold You are there

   If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

   אֶשָּׂאes/SAif I takeכַנְפֵי־שָׁחַרkhan/FE-SHA/charthe wings of the morningאֶשְׁכְּנָהesh/ke/NAand dwellבְּאַחֲרִיתbe/a/cha/RITthe uttermost parts ofיָם׃yamthe sea

   If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

    גַּם־שָׁםgam-shameven thereיָדְךָya/de/KHAYour handתַנְחֵנִיtan/CHE/niwill lead meוְתֹאחֲזֵנִיve/to/cha/ZE/niand will hold meיְמִינֶךָ׃ye/mi/NE/khaYour right hand

    Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

    וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאַךְ־חֹשֶׁךְakh-CHO/shekhsurely darknessיְשׁוּפֵנִיye/shu/FE/niwill cover meוְלַיְלָהve/LAY/laeven the nightאוֹרoris lightבַּעֲדֵנִי׃ba/a/DE/niaround me

    If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

    גַּם־חֹשֶׁךְgam-CHO/shekheven the darknessלֹא־יַחְשִׁיךְlo-yach/SHIKHis not darkמִמֶּךָּmim/MEK/kafrom Youוְלַיְלָהve/LAY/laand nightכַּיּוֹםkay/YOMas the dayיָאִירya/IRshinesכַּחֲשֵׁיכָהka/cha/she/KHAdarkness isכָּאוֹרָה׃ka/o/RAas light

    Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

    כִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAfor Youקָנִיתָka/NI/taformedכִלְיֹתָיkhil/yo/TAYmy kidneysתְּסֻכֵּנִיte/suk/KE/niYou knit me togetherבְּבֶטֶןbe/VE/tenin the womb ofאִמִּי׃im/MImy mother

    For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

14. 14

    אוֹדְךָod/KHAI will praise Youעַלalforכִּיkithatנוֹרָאוֹתno/ra/OTawesomelyנִפְלֵיתִיnif/LE/tiI am wonderfully madeנִפְלָאִיםnif/la/IMmarvelous areמַעֲשֶׂיךָma/a/SE/khaYour worksוְנַפְשִׁיve/naf/SHIand my soulיֹדַעַתyo/DA/atknowsמְאֹד׃me/ODvery well

    I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

    לֹא־נִכְחַדlo-nikh/CHADwas not hiddenעׇצְמִיots/MImy frameמִמֶּךָּmim/MEK/kafrom Youאֲשֶׁר־עֻשֵּׂיתִיa/SHER-us/SE/tiwhen I was madeבַסֵּתֶרvas/SE/terin secretרֻקַּמְתִּיruk/KAM/tiintricately wovenבְּתַחְתִּיּוֹתbe/tach/tiy/YOTin the lowest parts ofאָרֶץ׃A/retsthe earth

    My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

    גׇּלְמִיgol/MImy unformed substanceרָאוּra/Usawעֵינֶיךָe/NE/khaYour eyesוְעַל־סִפְרְךָve/AL-sif/re/KHAand in Your bookכֻּלָּםkul/LAMall of themיִכָּתֵבוּyik/ka/TE/vuwere writtenיָמִיםya/MIMthe daysיֻצָּרוּyuts/TSA/ruthat were formed(ולא)val[וְלוֹ]ve/LOand for itאֶחָדe/CHADoneבָּהֶם׃ba/HEMof them

    Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

17. 17

    וְלִיve/LIand to meמַה־יָּקְרוּma-ya/ke/RUhow precious areרֵעֶיךָre/E/khaYour thoughtsאֵלelO Godמֶהmehowעָצְמוּa/tse/MUvast isרָאשֵׁיהֶם׃ra/she/HEMthe sum of them

    How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

18. 18

    אֶסְפְּרֵםes/pe/REMwere I to count themמֵחוֹלme/CHOLthan the sandיִרְבּוּןyir/BUNthey would outnumberהֱקִיצֹתִיhe/ki/TSO/tiwhen I awakeוְעוֹדִיve/o/DII am stillעִמָּךְ׃im/MAKHwith You

    If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

19. 19

    אִם־תִּקְטֹלim-tik/TOLoh that You would slayאֱלוֹהַּe/LO/ahO Godרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedוְאַנְשֵׁיve/an/SHEand the men ofדָמִיםda/MIMbloodסוּרוּSU/rudepartמֶנִּי׃MEN/nifrom me

    Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.

20. 20

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיֹמְרוּךָyom/ru/KHAspeak of Youלִמְזִמָּהlim/zim/MAwith evil intentנָשׂוּאna/SUlifted upלַשָּׁוְאlash/SHAVin vainעָרֶיךָ׃a/RE/khaYour enemies

    For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.

21. 21

    הֲלוֹא־מְשַׂנְאֶיךָha/LO-me/san/E/khado not those who hate YouיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֶשְׂנָאes/NAdo I hateוּבִתְקוֹמְמֶיךָu/vit/kom/ME/khaand with those who rise up against Youאֶתְקוֹטָט׃et/ko/TATdo I loathe

    Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

22. 22

    תַּכְלִיתtakh/LITwith perfectשִׂנְאָהsin/Ahatredשְׂנֵאתִיםse/ne/TIMI hate themלְאוֹיְבִיםle/oy/VIMas enemiesהָיוּha/YUthey have becomeלִי׃lito me

    I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

23. 23

    חׇקְרֵנִיchok/RE/nisearch meאֵלelO Godוְדַעve/DAand knowלְבָבִיle/va/VImy heartבְּחָנֵנִיbe/cha/NE/nitry meוְדַעve/DAand knowשַׂרְעַפָּי׃sar/ap/PAYmy anxious thoughts

    Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24. 24

    וּרְאֵהu/re/Eand seeאִם־דֶּרֶךְ־עֹצֶבim-DE/rekh-O/tsevif a way of painבִּיbiis in meוּנְחֵנִיu/ne/CHE/niand lead meבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhin the wayעוֹלָם׃o/LAMeverlasting

    And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
