   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianלְדָוִדof Davidמִזְמוֹרa psalmיְהֹוָהO LORDחֲקַרְתַּנִיYou have searched meוַתֵּדָע׃and known me

   To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2. 2

   אַתָּהYouיָדַעְתָּYou knowשִׁבְתִּיmy sitting downוְקוּמִיand my rising upבַּנְתָּהYou understandלְרֵעִיmy thoughtמֵרָחוֹק׃afar off

   Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

   אׇרְחִיmy pathוְרִבְעִיand my lying downזֵרִיתָYou sift outוְכׇל־דְּרָכַיand all my waysהִסְכַּנְתָּה׃You are acquainted with

   Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

4. 4

   כִּיforאֵיןthere is notמִלָּהa wordבִּלְשׁוֹנִיon my tongueהֵןloיְהֹוָהO LORDיָדַעְתָּYou knowכֻלָּהּ׃it altogether

   For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

   אָחוֹרbehindוָקֶדֶםand beforeצַרְתָּנִיYou have beset meוַתָּשֶׁתand laidעָלַיupon meכַּפֶּכָה׃Your hand

   Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

6. 6

   (פלאיה)[פְּלִיאָה]is too wonderfulדַעַתsuch knowledgeמִמֶּנִּיfrom meנִשְׂגְּבָהit is highלֹא־אוּכַלI cannotלָהּ׃attain to it

   Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

   אָנָהwhitherאֵלֵךְshall I goמֵרוּחֶךָfrom Your spiritוְאָנָהor whitherמִפָּנֶיךָfrom Your presenceאֶבְרָח׃shall I flee

   Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8. 8

   אִם־אֶסַּקif I ascend up intoשָׁמַיִםheavenשָׁםthereאָתָּהYou areוְאַצִּיעָהif I make my bed inשְּׁאוֹלSheolהִנֶּךָּ׃behold You are there

   If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

   אֶשָּׂאif I takeכַנְפֵי־שָׁחַרthe wings of the morningאֶשְׁכְּנָהand dwell inבְּאַחֲרִיתthe uttermost parts ofיָם׃the sea

   If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10. 10

    גַּם־שָׁםalso thereיָדְךָYour handתַנְחֵנִיshall lead meוְתֹאחֲזֵנִיand shall hold meיְמִינֶךָ׃Your right hand

    Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11. 11

    וָאֹמַרand I saidאַךְ־חֹשֶׁךְsurely the darknessיְשׁוּפֵנִיshall cover meוְלַיְלָהeven the nightאוֹרshall be lightבַּעֲדֵנִי׃about me

    If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

12. 12

    גַּם־חֹשֶׁךְeven the darknessלֹא־יַחְשִׁיךְhides notמִמֶּךָּfrom Youוְלַיְלָהbut the nightכַּיּוֹםas the dayיָאִירshall shineכַּחֲשֵׁיכָהas the darknessכָּאוֹרָה׃so is the light

    Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

13. 13

    כִּי־אַתָּהfor Youקָנִיתָhave possessedכִלְיֹתָיmy reinsתְּסֻכֵּנִיYou have covered meבְּבֶטֶןin the womb ofאִמִּי׃my mother

    For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

14. 14

    אוֹדְךָI will praise YouעַלforכִּיthatנוֹרָאוֹתfearfullyנִפְלֵיתִיI am madeנִפְלָאִיםmarvelous areמַעֲשֶׂיךָYour worksוְנַפְשִׁיand my soulיֹדַעַתknowsמְאֹד׃right well

    I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15. 15

    לֹא־נִכְחַדwas not hiddenעׇצְמִיmy frameמִמֶּךָּfrom Youאֲשֶׁר־עֻשֵּׂיתִיwhen I was madeבַסֵּתֶרin secretרֻקַּמְתִּיand curiously wroughtבְּתַחְתִּיּוֹתin the lowest parts ofאָרֶץ׃the earth

    My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16. 16

    גׇּלְמִיmy unformed substanceרָאוּdid seeעֵינֶיךָYour eyesוְעַל־סִפְרְךָand in Your bookכֻּלָּםall of themיִכָּתֵבוּwere writtenיָמִיםdaysיֻצָּרוּwere fashioned(ולא)[וְלוֹ]and for itאֶחָדnot oneבָּהֶם׃in them

    Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

17. 17

    וְלִיand to meמַה־יָּקְרוּhow precious areרֵעֶיךָYour thoughtsאֵלO Godמֶהhowעָצְמוּvast isרָאשֵׁיהֶם׃the sum of them

    How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

18. 18

    אֶסְפְּרֵםif I should count themמֵחוֹלthan the sandיִרְבּוּןthey are more in numberהֱקִיצֹתִיwhen I awakeוְעוֹדִיI am stillעִמָּךְ׃with You

    If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

19. 19

    אִם־תִּקְטֹלsurely You will slayאֱלוֹהַּO Godרָשָׁעthe wickedוְאַנְשֵׁיand the men ofדָמִיםbloodסוּרוּdepartמֶנִּי׃from me

    Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.

20. 20

    אֲשֶׁרwhichיֹמְרוּךָthey speak against Youלִמְזִמָּהwickedlyנָשׂוּאthey takeלַשָּׁוְאin vainעָרֶיךָ׃Your enemies

    For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.

21. 21

    הֲלוֹא־מְשַׂנְאֶיךָdo not those who hate YouיְהֹוָהO LORDאֶשְׂנָאdo I hateוּבִתְקוֹמְמֶיךָand with those who rise up against Youאֶתְקוֹטָט׃am I not grieved

    Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

22. 22

    תַּכְלִיתwith perfectשִׂנְאָהhatredשְׂנֵאתִיםI hate themלְאוֹיְבִיםfor enemiesהָיוּthey are becomeלִי׃to me

    I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

23. 23

    חׇקְרֵנִיsearch meאֵלO Godוְדַעand knowלְבָבִיmy heartבְּחָנֵנִיtry meוְדַעand knowשַׂרְעַפָּי׃my disquieting thoughts

    Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24. 24

    וּרְאֵהand seeאִם־דֶּרֶךְ־עֹצֶבif any wicked wayבִּיbe in meוּנְחֵנִיand lead meבְּדֶרֶךְin the wayעוֹלָם׃everlasting

    And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
