   שִׁירshira songהַמַּעֲלוֹתham/ma/a/LOTof ascentsרַבַּתrab/BATgreatlyצְרָרוּנִיtse/ra/RU/nithey have afflicted meמִנְּעוּרַיmin/ne/u/RAYfrom my youthיֹאמַר־נָאyo/MAR-nalet now sayיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   A Song of degrees. Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:

   רַבַּתrab/BATgreatlyצְרָרוּנִיtse/ra/RU/nithey have afflicted meמִנְּעוּרָיmin/ne/u/RAYfrom my youthגַּםgamyetלֹא־יָכְלוּlo-ya/khe/LUthey have not prevailedלִי׃liagainst me

   Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me.

   עַל־גַּבִּיal-gab/BIupon my backחָרְשׁוּcha/re/SHUplowedחֹרְשִׁיםchor/SHIMthe plowersהֶאֱרִיכוּhe/e/RI/khuthey lengthened[לְמַעֲנִיתָם]׃le/ma/a/ni/TAMtheir furrows

   The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows.

   יְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצַדִּיקtsad/DIKis righteousקִצֵּץkits/TSETSHe has cutעֲבוֹתa/VOTthe cords ofרְשָׁעִים׃re/sha/IMthe wicked

   The LORD is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.

   יֵבֹשׁוּye/VO/shulet be ashamedוְיִסֹּגוּve/yis/SO/guand be turnedאָחוֹרa/CHORbackwardכֹּלkolallשֹׂנְאֵיSON/ewho hateצִיּוֹן׃Tsiy/YONZion

   Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.

   יִהְיוּyih/YUlet them beכַּחֲצִירka/cha/TSIRlike grass onגַּגּוֹתgag/GOTthe housetopsשֶׁקַּדְמַתshek/kad/MATwhich beforeשָׁלַףsha/LAFit is pulled upיָבֵשׁ׃ya/VESHit withers

   Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it groweth up:

   שֶׁלֹּאshel/LOwith which does notמִלֵּאmil/LEfillכַפּוֹkhap/POhis handקוֹצֵרko/TSERthe reaperוְחִצְנוֹve/chits/NOnor his bosomמְעַמֵּר׃me/am/MERhe who binds sheaves

   Wherewith the mower filleth not his hand; nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom.

   וְלֹאve/LOand notאָמְרוּa/me/RUsayהָעֹבְרִיםha/ov/RIMwho pass byבִּרְכַּת־יְהֹוָהbir/KAT-Adonaithe blessing of the LORDאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMbe upon youבֵּרַכְנוּbe/RAKH/nuwe blessאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   Neither do they which go by say, The blessing of the LORD be upon you: we bless you in the name of the LORD.
