   שִׁירa songהַמַּעֲלוֹתof ascentsרַבַּתmany a timeצְרָרוּנִיhave they afflicted meמִנְּעוּרַיfrom my youthיֹאמַר־נָאlet now sayיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

   A Song of degrees. Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:

   רַבַּתmany a timeצְרָרוּנִיhave they afflicted meמִנְּעוּרָיfrom my youthגַּםalsoלֹא־יָכְלוּthey have not prevailedלִי׃against me

   Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me.

   עַל־גַּבִּיupon my backחָרְשׁוּplowedחֹרְשִׁיםthe plowersהֶאֱרִיכוּthey made long[לְמַעֲנִיתָם]׃their furrows

   The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows.

   יְהֹוָהthe LORDצַדִּיקis righteousקִצֵּץHe has cut asunderעֲבוֹתthe cords ofרְשָׁעִים׃the wicked

   The LORD is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.

   יֵבֹשׁוּlet be ashamedוְיִסֹּגוּand be turnedאָחוֹרbackwardכֹּלallשֹׂנְאֵיwho hateצִיּוֹן׃Zion

   Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.

   יִהְיוּlet them beכַּחֲצִירas the grass uponגַּגּוֹתthe housetopsשֶׁקַּדְמַתwhich withers beforeשָׁלַףit grows upיָבֵשׁ׃it withers

   Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it groweth up:

   שֶׁלֹּאwith whichמִלֵּאfills notכַפּוֹhis handקוֹצֵרthe reaperוְחִצְנוֹnor his bosomמְעַמֵּר׃he who binds sheaves

   Wherewith the mower filleth not his hand; nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom.

   וְלֹאand notאָמְרוּdo those sayהָעֹבְרִיםwho pass byבִּרְכַּת־יְהֹוָהthe blessing of the LORDאֲלֵיכֶםbe upon youבֵּרַכְנוּwe blessאֶתְכֶםyouבְּשֵׁםin the name ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

   Neither do they which go by say, The blessing of the LORD be upon you: we bless you in the name of the LORD.
