   שִׁירa songהַמַּעֲלוֹתof ascentsאֵלֶיךָto YouנָשָׂאתִיI lift upאֶת־עֵינַיmy eyesהַיֹּשְׁבִיO You who dwellבַּשָּׁמָיִם׃in the heavens

   A Song of degrees. Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

   הִנֵּהbeholdכְעֵינֵיas the eyes ofעֲבָדִיםservantsאֶל־יַדto the hand ofאֲדוֹנֵיהֶםtheir mastersכְּעֵינֵיlike the eyes ofשִׁפְחָהa maidservantאֶל־יַדto the hand ofגְּבִרְתָּהּher mistressכֵּןsoעֵינֵינוּour eyesאֶל־יְהֹוָהto the LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּour Godעַדuntilשֶׁיְּחׇנֵּנוּ׃that He has mercy upon us

   Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

   חׇנֵּנוּhave mercy upon usיְהֹוָהO LORDחׇנֵּנוּhave mercy upon usכִּי־רַבfor exceedinglyשָׂבַעְנוּwe are filled withבוּז׃contempt

   Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

   רַבַּתexceedinglyשָׂבְעָה־לָּהּis filledנַפְשֵׁנוּour soulהַלַּעַגwith the scorning ofהַשַּׁאֲנַנִּיםthose at easeהַבּוּזand with the contempt[לִגְאֵיof the proudיוֹנִים]׃who are arrogant

   Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
