   שִׁירa songהַמַּעֲלוֹתof ascentsאֶל־יְהֹוָהto the LORDבַּצָּרָתָהin my distressלִּיof mineקָרָאתִיI criedוַיַּעֲנֵנִי׃and He answered me

   A Song of degrees. In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.

   יְהֹוָהO LORDהַצִּילָהdeliverנַפְשִׁיmy soulמִשְּׂפַת־שֶׁקֶרfrom lying lipsמִלָּשׁוֹןfrom a tongue ofרְמִיָּה׃deceit

   Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

   מַה־יִּתֵּןwhat shall be givenלְךָto youוּמַה־יֹּסִיףor what shall be done moreלָךְto youלָשׁוֹןO tongue ofרְמִיָּה׃deceit

   What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?

   חִצֵּיthe arrows ofגִבּוֹרthe mightyשְׁנוּנִיםsharpenedעִםwithגַּחֲלֵיcoals ofרְתָמִים׃the broom tree

   Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

   אוֹיָה־לִיwoe is meכִּי־גַרְתִּיthat I sojourn inמֶשֶׁךְMeshechשָׁכַנְתִּיthat I dwellעִם־אׇהֳלֵיamong the tents ofקֵדָר׃Kedar

   Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!

   רַבַּתtoo longשָׁכְנָה־לָּהּhas dweltנַפְשִׁיmy soulעִםwithשׂוֹנֵאhim who hatesשָׁלוֹם׃peace

   My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.

7. 7

   אֲנִי־שָׁלוֹםI am for peaceוְכִיbut whenאֲדַבֵּרI speakהֵמָּהthey areלַמִּלְחָמָה׃for war

   I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.
