   A Song of degrees. In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.

   יְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDהַצִּילָהhats/TSI/ladeliverנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulמִשְּׂפַת־שֶׁקֶרmis/se/FAT-SHE/kerfrom lying lipsמִלָּשׁוֹןmil/la/SHONfrom a tongue ofרְמִיָּה׃re/miy/YAdeceit

   Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

   מַה־יִּתֵּןma-yit/TENwhat will He giveלְךָle/KHAto youוּמַה־יֹּסִיףu/MA-yo/SIFand what more will He addלָךְlakhto youלָשׁוֹןla/SHONO tongue ofרְמִיָּה׃re/miy/YAdeceit

   What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?

   חִצֵּיchits/TSEthe arrows ofגִבּוֹרgib/BORthe mightyשְׁנוּנִיםshe/nu/NIMsharpעִםimwithגַּחֲלֵיga/cha/LEcoals ofרְתָמִים׃re/ta/MIMthe broom tree

   Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

   אוֹיָה־לִיo/YA-liwoe is meכִּי־גַרְתִּיki-GAR/tithat I sojourn inמֶשֶׁךְME/shekhMeshechשָׁכַנְתִּיsha/KHAN/tithat I dwellעִם־אׇהֳלֵיim-o/ho/LEamong the tents ofקֵדָר׃Ke/DARKedar

   Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!

   רַבַּתrab/BATlongשָׁכְנָה־לָּהּsha/khe/NA-lahas dweltנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulעִםimwithשׂוֹנֵאso/NEhim who hatesשָׁלוֹם׃sha/LOMpeace

   My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.

   אֲנִי־שָׁלוֹםa/NI-sha/LOMI am for peaceוְכִיve/KHIand whenאֲדַבֵּרa/dab/BERI speakהֵמָּהHEM/mathey areלַמִּלְחָמָה׃lam/mil/cha/MAfor war

   I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.
