Psalms 12 תְּהִלִּים פרק י״ב

   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianעַל־הַשְּׁמִינִיתupon the eighthמִזְמוֹרa psalmלְדָוִד׃of David

   To the chief Musician upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David.

2. 2

   הוֹשִׁיעָהsaveיְהֹוָהthe LORDכִּי־גָמַרfor ceasesחָסִידthe godly manכִּי־פַסּוּfor failאֱמוּנִיםthe faithfulמִבְּנֵיfrom among the sons ofאָדָם׃man

   Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

   שָׁוְאfalsehoodיְדַבְּרוּthey shall speakאִישׁa manאֶת־רֵעֵהוּhis neighborשְׂפַתwith lips ofחֲלָקוֹתflatteringבְּלֵבwith a heartוָלֵבand a heartיְדַבֵּרוּ׃will they speak

   They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

   יַכְרֵתmay he cut offיְהֹוָהthe LORDכׇּל־שִׂפְתֵיall the lips ofחֲלָקוֹתflatteringלָשׁוֹןtongueמְדַבֶּרֶתthat speaksגְּדֹלוֹת׃proud things

   The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

   אֲשֶׁרwhichאָמְרוּthey saidלִלְשֹׁנֵנוּwith our tongueנַגְבִּירwe will prevailשְׂפָתֵינוּour lipsאִתָּנוּwith usמִיwhoאָדוֹןis lordלָנוּ׃to us

   Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

   מִשֹּׁדfor the oppression ofעֲנִיִּיםthe poorמֵאֶנְקַתfor the groaning ofאֶבְיוֹנִיםthe needyעַתָּהnowאָקוּםI will ariseיֹאמַרsaysיְהֹוָהthe LORDאָשִׁיתI will set himבְּיֵשַׁעin safetyיָפִיחַ־לוֹ׃at whom they puff

   For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

   אִמְרוֹתthe words ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֲמָרוֹתare wordsטְהֹרוֹתpureכֶּסֶףsilverצָרוּףtriedבַּעֲלִילin a furnaceלָאָרֶץupon the groundמְזֻקָּקpurifiedשִׁבְעָתָיִם׃sevenfold

   The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

8. 8

   אַתָּה־יְהֹוָהYou O LORDתִּשְׁמְרֵםshall keep themתִּצְּרֶנּוּYou shall preserve themמִן־הַדּוֹרfrom this generationזוּwhichלְעוֹלָם׃forever

   Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

9. 9

   סָבִיבall aroundרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedיִתְהַלָּכוּןwalk on every sideכְּרֻםwhen is exaltedזֻלּוּתvilenessלִבְנֵיunto the sons ofאָדָם׃man

   The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
