   לַמְנַצֵּחַto the chief musicianלְדָוִדof Davidבַּיהֹוָהin the LORDחָסִיתִיI put my trustאֵיךְhowתֹּאמְרוּyou sayלְנַפְשִׁיmy soul[נוּדִי]fleeהַרְכֶםto your mountainצִפּוֹר׃like a bird

   To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

2. 2

   כִּיforהִנֵּהbeholdהָרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedיִדְרְכוּןthey bendקֶשֶׁתa bowכּוֹנְנוּthey make readyחִצָּםtheir arrowעַל־יֶתֶרon the stringלִירוֹתto shootבְּמוֹ־אֹפֶלin darknessלְיִשְׁרֵי־לֵב׃to people upright of heart

   For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.

   כִּיforהַשָּׁתוֹתthe foundationsיֵהָרֵסוּןare destroyedצַדִּיקthe righteousמַה־פָּעָל׃what can he do

   If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

   יְהֹוָהthe LORDבְּהֵיכַלin the temple ofקׇדְשׁוֹHis holinessיְהֹוָהthe LORDבַּשָּׁמַיִםin the heavensכִּסְאוֹHis throneעֵינָיוHis eyesיֶחֱזוּthey seeעַפְעַפָּיוHis eyelidsיִבְחֲנוּtestבְּנֵיthe sons ofאָדָם׃man

   The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

   יְהֹוָהthe LORDצַדִּיקrighteousיִבְחָןtestsוְרָשָׁעand the wickedוְאֹהֵבand the one who lovesחָמָסviolenceשָׂנְאָהhatesנַפְשׁוֹ׃His soul

   The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

   יַמְטֵרHe shall rainעַל־רְשָׁעִיםupon the wickedפַּחִיםsnaresאֵשׁfireוְגׇפְרִיתand brimstoneוְרוּחַand a wind ofזִלְעָפוֹתscorching windמְנָתthe portion ofכּוֹסָם׃their cup

   Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

   כִּי־צַדִּיקfor righteousיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְדָקוֹתrighteousnessאָהֵבHe lovesיָשָׁרthe uprightיֶחֱזוּshall beholdפָנֵימוֹ׃His face

   For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
