   לָמָהla/MAwhyיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDתַּעֲמֹדta/a/MODdo You standבְּרָחוֹקbe/ra/CHOKafar offתַּעְלִיםta/LIMdo You hide Yourselfלְעִתּוֹתle/it/TOTin times ofבַּצָּרָה׃bats/tsa/RAof trouble

   Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?

   בְּגַאֲוַתbe/ga/a/VATin the pride ofרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedיִדְלַקyid/LAKhotly pursuesעָנִיa/NIthe poorיִתָּפְשׂוּyit/ta/fe/SUlet them be caughtבִּמְזִמּוֹתbim/zim/MOTin the schemesזוּzuwhichחָשָׁבוּ׃cha/SHA/vuthey have devised

   The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

   כִּי־הִלֵּלki-hil/LELfor boastsרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedעַל־תַּאֲוַתal-ta/a/VATof the desire ofנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulוּבֹצֵעַu/vo/TSE/aand the greedyבֵּרֵךְbe/REKHcursesנִאֵץni/ETSrenouncesיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.

   רָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedכְּגֹבַהּke/GO/vain the pride ofאַפּוֹap/POhis faceבַּל־יִדְרֹשׁbal-yid/ROSHhe will not seekאֵיןenthere is noאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodכׇּל־מְזִמּוֹתָיו׃kol-me/zim/mo/TAYVare all his thoughts

   The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

   יָחִילוּya/CHI/luprosperדְרָכָוde/ra/KHAVhis waysבְּכׇל־עֵתbe/KHOL-etat all timesמָרוֹםma/ROMfar aboveמִשְׁפָּטֶיךָmish/pa/TE/khaare Your judgmentsמִנֶּגְדּוֹmin/neg/DOout of his sightכׇּל־צוֹרְרָיוkol-tsor/RAYVall his enemiesיָפִיחַya/FI/achhe puffsבָּהֶם׃ba/HEMat them

   His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.

   אָמַרa/MARsaidבְּלִבּוֹbe/lib/BOin his heartבַּל־אֶמּוֹטbal-em/MOTI shall not be movedלְדֹרle/DORfrom generationוָדֹרva/DORto generationאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹא־בְרָע׃lo-ve/RAnever in adversity

   He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.

   אָלָהa/LAof cursingפִּיהוּPI/huhis mouthמָלֵאma/LEis fullוּמִרְמוֹתu/mir/MOTand deceitוָתֹךְva/TOKHand fraudתַּחַתTA/chatunderלְשׁוֹנוֹle/sho/NOhis tongueעָמָלa/MALtroubleוָאָוֶן׃va/A/venand iniquity

   His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

   יֵשֵׁבye/SHEVhe sitsבְּמַאְרַבbe/ma/RAVin the lurking places ofחֲצֵרִיםcha/tse/RIMvillagesבַּמִּסְתָּרִיםbam/mis/ta/RIMin the secret placesיַהֲרֹגya/ha/ROGhe murdersנָקִיna/KIthe innocentעֵינָיוe/NAYVhis eyesלְחֵלְכָהle/chel/KHAon the helplessיִצְפֹּנוּ׃yits/PO/nustealthily watch

   He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.

   יֶאֱרֹבye/e/ROVhe lies in waitבַּמִּסְתָּרbam/mis/TARsecretlyכְּאַרְיֵהke/ar/YEas a lionבְסֻכֹּהve/suk/KOin his denיֶאֱרֹבye/e/ROVhe lies in waitלַחֲטוֹףla/cha/TOFto catchעָנִיa/NIthe poorיַחְטֹףyach/TOFhe catchesעָנִיa/NIthe poorבְּמׇשְׁכוֹbe/mosh/KHOwhen he draws himבְרִשְׁתּוֹ׃ve/rish/TOinto his net

   He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.

    [יִדְכֶּה]yid/KEhe crouchesיָשֹׁחַya/SHO/achhe lies lowוְנָפַלve/na/FALand fallsבַּעֲצוּמָיוba/a/tsu/MAYVinto his power[חֵלchelthe helplessכָּאִים]׃ka/IMcollapse

    He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.

    אָמַרa/MARsaidבְּלִבּוֹbe/lib/BOin his heartשָׁכַחSHA/khachhas forgottenאֵלelGodהִסְתִּירhis/TIRHe hidesפָּנָיוpa/NAYVHis faceבַּל־רָאָהbal-ra/AHe will never see itלָנֶצַח׃la/NE/tsachforever

    He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.

12. 12

    קוּמָהku/MAariseיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֵלelO Godנְשָׂאne/SAlift upיָדֶךָya/DE/khaYour handאַל־תִּשְׁכַּחal-tish/KACHdo not forget(עניים)nayayam[עֲנָוִים]׃a/na/VIMthe humble

    Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.

13. 13

    עַל־מֶהal-mewhyנִאֵץni/ETSrenouncesרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאָמַרa/MARsaidבְּלִבּוֹbe/lib/BOin his heartלֹאlonotתִדְרֹשׁ׃tid/ROSHYou will require

    Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.

    רָאִתָהra/I/taYou have seenכִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAfor Youעָמָלa/MALtroubleוָכַעַסva/KHA/asand griefתַּבִּיטtab/BITYou observeלָתֵתla/TETto requite itבְּיָדֶךָbe/ya/DE/khaby Your handעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaupon Youיַעֲזֹבya/a/ZOVleaves himselfחֵלֵכָהche/LE/khathe helplessיָתוֹםya/TOMthe fatherlessאַתָּהat/TAYouהָיִיתָha/YI/taareעוֹזֵר׃o/ZERthe helper

    Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.

15. 15

    שְׁבֹרshe/VORbreakזְרוֹעַze/RO/athe arm ofרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedוָרָעva/RAand the evil manתִּדְרוֹשׁ־רִשְׁעוֹtid/ROSH-rish/Oseek out his wickednessבַל־תִּמְצָא׃val-tim/TSAtill You find none

    Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.

16. 16

    יְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמֶלֶךְME/lekhis Kingעוֹלָםo/LAMforeverוָעֶדva/EDand everאָבְדוּa/ve/DUhave perishedגוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsמֵאַרְצוֹ׃me/ar/TSOout of His land

    The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.

17. 17

    תַּאֲוַתta/a/VATthe desire ofעֲנָוִיםa/na/VIMthe humbleשָׁמַעְתָּsha/MA/taYou have heardיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDתָּכִיןta/KHINYou will strengthenלִבָּםlib/BAMtheir heartתַּקְשִׁיבtak/SHIVYou will inclineאׇזְנֶךָ׃oz/NE/khaYour ear

    LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:

18. 18

    לִשְׁפֹּטlish/POTto judgeיָתוֹםya/TOMthe fatherlessוָדָךְva/DAKHand the oppressedבַּל־יוֹסִיףbal-yo/SIFthat may no moreעוֹדodagainלַעֲרֹץla/a/ROTSterrifyאֱנוֹשׁe/NOSHmanמִן־הָאָרֶץ׃min-ha/A/retsfrom the land

    To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.
