Psalms 10 תְּהִלִּים פרק י׳

1. 1

   לָמָהwhyיְהֹוָהthe LORDתַּעֲמֹדdo You standבְּרָחוֹקafar offתַּעְלִיםdo You hideלְעִתּוֹתin times ofבַּצָּרָה׃the trouble

   Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?

2. 2

   בְּגַאֲוַתin the pride ofרָשָׁעwickedיִדְלַקhotly pursuesעָנִיpoorיִתָּפְשׂוּlet them be caughtבִּמְזִמּוֹתin the plotsזוּwhichחָשָׁבוּ׃they have devised

   The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

   כִּי־הִלֵּלfor boastsרָשָׁעwickedעַל־תַּאֲוַתof the desire ofנַפְשׁוֹhis heartוּבֹצֵעַand the covetousבֵּרֵךְcursesנִאֵץrenouncesיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

   For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.

   רָשָׁעwickedכְּגֹבַהּin the pride ofאַפּוֹhis countenanceבַּל־יִדְרֹשׁHe will not seek outאֵיןthere is noאֱלֹהִיםGodכׇּל־מְזִמּוֹתָיו׃all his thoughts

   The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

   יָחִילוּare strongדְרָכָוhis waysבְּכׇל־עֵתin all timeמָרוֹםfar aboveמִשְׁפָּטֶיךָare Your judgmentsמִנֶּגְדּוֹout of his sightכׇּל־צוֹרְרָיוall his enemiesיָפִיחַhe hissesבָּהֶם׃in them

   His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.

6. 6

   אָמַרsaidבְּלִבּוֹin his heartבַּל־אֶמּוֹטI shall not be movedלְדֹרfrom generationוָדֹרto generationאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־בְרָע׃never in adversity

   He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.

7. 7

   אָלָהcursingפִּיהוּhis mouthמָלֵאfull ofוּמִרְמוֹתand deceitוָתֹךְand fraudתַּחַתunderלְשׁוֹנוֹhis tongueעָמָלtroubleוָאָוֶן׃and iniquity

   His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

   יֵשֵׁבhe sitsבְּמַאְרַבin the lurking places ofחֲצֵרִיםvillagesבַּמִּסְתָּרִיםin the secret placesיַהֲרֹגhe murdersנָקִיblamelessעֵינָיוhis eyesלְחֵלְכָהon the helplessיִצְפֹּנוּ׃stealthily watch

   He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.

   יֶאֱרֹבhe lies in waitבַּמִּסְתָּרsecretlyכְּאַרְיֵהas a lionבְסֻכֹּהin his denיֶאֱרֹבhe lies in waitלַחֲטוֹףto catchעָנִיpoorיַחְטֹףhe catchesעָנִיpoorבְּמׇשְׁכוֹwhen he draws himבְרִשְׁתּוֹ׃into his net

   He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.

10. 10

    [יִדְכֶּה]he crouchesיָשֹׁחַhe lies lowוְנָפַלand fallsבַּעֲצוּמָיוinto his power[חֵלthe helplessכָּאִים]׃collapse

    He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.

11. 11

    אָמַרsaidבְּלִבּוֹin his heartשָׁכַחhas forgottenאֵלGodהִסְתִּירHe hidesפָּנָיוhis faceבַּל־רָאָהHe will never see itלָנֶצַח׃forever

    He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.

12. 12

    קוּמָהariseיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֵלGodנְשָׂאlift upיָדֶךָyour handאַל־תִּשְׁכַּחdo not forget(עניים)[עֲנָוִים]׃the humble

    Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.

13. 13

    עַל־מֶהwhyנִאֵץrenouncesרָשָׁעwickedאֱלֹהִיםGodאָמַרsaidבְּלִבּוֹin his heartלֹאnotתִדְרֹשׁ׃You will require

    Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.

14. 14

    רָאִתָהYou have seenכִּי־אַתָּהfor Youעָמָלtroubleוָכַעַסand griefתַּבִּיטYou observeלָתֵתto requite itבְּיָדֶךָby Your handעָלֶיךָto Youיַעֲזֹבcommits himselfחֵלֵכָהthe helplessיָתוֹםthe fatherlessאַתָּהYouהָיִיתָareעוֹזֵר׃the helper

    Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.

15. 15

    שְׁבֹרbreakזְרוֹעַthe arm ofרָשָׁעwickedוָרָעand the evil manתִּדְרוֹשׁ־רִשְׁעוֹseek out his wickednessבַל־תִּמְצָא׃till You find none

    Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.

16. 16

    יְהֹוָהthe LORDמֶלֶךְas Kingעוֹלָםforeverוָעֶדand everאָבְדוּhave perishedגוֹיִםnationsמֵאַרְצוֹ׃out of His land

    The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.

17. 17

    תַּאֲוַתdesire ofעֲנָוִיםthe humbleשָׁמַעְתָּYou have heardיְהֹוָהthe LORDתָּכִיןYou will strengthenלִבָּםtheir heartתַּקְשִׁיבYou will cause Your ear to hearאׇזְנֶךָ׃Your ear

    LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:

18. 18

    לִשְׁפֹּטto judgeיָתוֹםthe fatherlessוָדָךְand the oppressedבַּל־יוֹסִיףshall no longerעוֹדany moreלַעֲרֹץterrifyאֱנוֹשׁmanמִן־הָאָרֶץ׃from the land

    To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.
