1. 1

   הַלְלוּ־יָהּpraise the LORDהוֹדוּO give thanksלַיהֹוָהto the LORDכִּי־טוֹבfor He is goodכִּיbecauseלְעוֹלָםforeverחַסְדּוֹ׃His mercy

   Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

2. 2

   מִיwhoיְמַלֵּלcan utterגְּבוּרוֹתthe mighty acts ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDיַשְׁמִיעַor show forthכׇּל־תְּהִלָּתוֹ׃all His praise

   Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?

3. 3

   אַשְׁרֵיblessed areשֹׁמְרֵיthose who keepמִשְׁפָּטjusticeעֹשֵׂהand he who doesצְדָקָהrighteousnessבְכׇל־עֵת׃at all times

   Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

   זׇכְרֵנִיremember meיְהֹוָהO LORDבִּרְצוֹןwith the favor You bear toעַמֶּךָYour peopleפׇּקְדֵנִיvisit meבִּישׁוּעָתֶךָ׃in Your salvation

   Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;

   לִרְאוֹתthat I may seeבְּטוֹבַתthe good ofבְּחִירֶיךָYour chosenלִשְׂמֹחַthat I may rejoiceבְּשִׂמְחַתin the gladness ofגּוֹיֶךָYour nationלְהִתְהַלֵּלthat I may gloryעִם־נַחֲלָתֶךָ׃with Your inheritance

   That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.

6. 6

   חָטָאנוּwe have sinnedעִם־אֲבוֹתֵינוּwith our fathersהֶעֱוִינוּwe have committed iniquityהִרְשָׁעְנוּ׃we have done wickedly

   We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

7. 7

   אֲבוֹתֵינוּour fathersבְמִצְרַיִםin Egyptלֹא־הִשְׂכִּילוּdid not understandנִפְלְאוֹתֶיךָYour wondersלֹאnotזָכְרוּdid they rememberאֶת־רֹבthe multitude ofחֲסָדֶיךָYour merciesוַיַּמְרוּbut rebelledעַל־יָםat the seaבְּיַם־סוּף׃in the Red Sea

   Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

8. 8

   וַיּוֹשִׁיעֵםnevertheless He saved themלְמַעַןfor the sake ofשְׁמוֹHis nameלְהוֹדִיעַto make knownאֶת־גְּבוּרָתוֹ׃His mighty power

   Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

9. 9

   וַיִּגְעַרHe rebuked alsoבְּיַם־סוּףin the Red Seaוַיֶּחֱרָבand it was dried upוַיּוֹלִיכֵםso He led themבַּתְּהֹמוֹתthrough the depthsכַּמִּדְבָּר׃as through the wilderness

   He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

10. 10

    וַיּוֹשִׁיעֵםand He saved themמִיַּדfrom the hand ofשׂוֹנֵאhim who hated themוַיִּגְאָלֵםand he redeemed themמִיַּדfrom the hand ofאוֹיֵב׃the enemy

    And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

11. 11

    וַיְכַסּוּ־מַיִםand the waters coveredצָרֵיהֶםtheir enemiesאֶחָדnot oneמֵהֶםof themלֹאnotנוֹתָר׃was left

    And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

12. 12

    וַיַּאֲמִינוּthen they believedבִדְבָרָיוHis wordsיָשִׁירוּthey sangתְּהִלָּתוֹ׃His praise

    Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.

13. 13

    מִהֲרוּthey soonשָׁכְחוּforgotמַעֲשָׂיוHis worksלֹא־חִכּוּthey waited notלַעֲצָתוֹ׃for His counsel

    They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:

14. 14

    וַיִּתְאַוּוּbut lusted exceedinglyתַאֲוָהwith lustבַּמִּדְבָּרin the wildernessוַיְנַסּוּ־אֵלand tested Godבִּישִׁימוֹן׃in the desert

    But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

15. 15

    וַיִּתֵּןand He gaveלָהֶםto themשֶׁאֱלָתָםthem their requestוַיְשַׁלַּחbut sentרָזוֹןleannessבְּנַפְשָׁם׃into their soul

    And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

16. 16

    וַיְקַנְאוּthey enviedלְמֹשֶׁהMoses alsoבַּמַּחֲנֶהin the campלְאַהֲרֹןand Aaronקְדוֹשׁthe holy one ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.

17. 17

    תִּפְתַּח־אֶרֶץthe earth openedוַתִּבְלַעand swallowed upדָּתָןDathanוַתְּכַסand coveredעַל־עֲדַתupon the congregation ofאֲבִירָם׃Abiram

    The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.

18. 18

    וַתִּבְעַר־אֵשׁand a fire was kindledבַּעֲדָתָםamong their companyלֶהָבָהthe flameתְּלַהֵטburned upרְשָׁעִים׃the wicked

    And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.

19. 19

    יַעֲשׂוּ־עֵגֶלthey made a calfבְּחֹרֵבin Horebוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּand they worshipedלְמַסֵּכָה׃the molten image

    They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.

20. 20

    וַיָּמִירוּthus they changedאֶת־כְּבוֹדָםtheir gloryבְּתַבְנִיתinto the likeness ofשׁוֹרan oxאֹכֵלthat eatsעֵשֶׂב׃grass

    Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.

21. 21

    שָׁכְחוּthey forgotאֵלGodמוֹשִׁיעָםtheir Saviorעֹשֶׂהwho had doneגְדֹלוֹתgreat thingsבְּמִצְרָיִם׃in Egypt

    They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

22. 22

    נִפְלָאוֹתwondrous worksבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofחָםHamנוֹרָאוֹתterrible thingsעַל־יַם־סוּף׃upon the Red Sea

    Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.

23. 23

    וַיֹּאמֶרtherefore He saidלְהַשְׁמִידָםthat He would destroy themלוּלֵיhad notמֹשֶׁהMosesבְחִירוֹHis chosenעָמַדstoodבַּפֶּרֶץin the breachלְפָנָיוbefore Himלְהָשִׁיבto turn awayחֲמָתוֹHis wrathמֵהַשְׁחִית׃lest He destroy them

    Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

24. 24

    וַיִּמְאֲסוּyea they despisedבְּאֶרֶץthe land ofחֶמְדָּהpleasantnessלֹא־הֶאֱמִינוּthey believed notלִדְבָרוֹ׃His word

    Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:

25. 25

    וַיֵּרָגְנוּbut murmuredבְאׇהֳלֵיהֶםin their tentsלֹאnotשָׁמְעוּdid they hearken toבְּקוֹלthe voice ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.

26. 26

    וַיִּשָּׂאtherefore He lifted upיָדוֹHis handלָהֶםagainst themלְהַפִּילto overthrowאוֹתָםthemבַּמִּדְבָּר׃in the wilderness

    Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

27. 27

    וּלְהַפִּילand to overthrowזַרְעָםtheir seedבַּגּוֹיִםamong the nationsוּלְזָרוֹתָםand to scatter themבָּאֲרָצוֹת׃in the lands

    To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.

28. 28

    וַיִּצָּמְדוּand they joined themselvesלְבַעַלto Baal-פְּעוֹרpeorוַיֹּאכְלוּand they ateזִבְחֵיthe sacrifices ofמֵתִים׃the dead

    They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

29. 29

    וַיַּכְעִיסוּthus they provoked Him to angerבְּמַעַלְלֵיהֶםwith their doingsוַתִּפְרׇץ־בָּםand broke out among themמַגֵּפָה׃a plague

    Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.

30. 30

    וַיַּעֲמֹדthen stood upפִּינְחָסPhinehasוַיְפַלֵּלand executed judgmentוַתֵּעָצַרand so was stayedהַמַּגֵּפָה׃the plague

    Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.

31. 31

    וַתֵּחָשֶׁבand that was countedלוֹto himלִצְדָקָהfor righteousnessלְדֹרfrom generationוָדֹרto generationעַד־עוֹלָם׃forever

    And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

32. 32

    וַיַּקְצִיפוּthey angered Him alsoעַל־מֵיat the waters ofמְרִיבָהMeribahוַיֵּרַעso that it went illלְמֹשֶׁהwith Mosesבַּעֲבוּרָם׃for their sakes

    They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

33. 33

    כִּי־הִמְרוּbecause they provokedאֶת־רוּחוֹhis spiritוַיְבַטֵּאso that he spoke rashlyבִּשְׂפָתָיו׃with his lips

    Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

34. 34

    לֹא־הִשְׁמִידוּthey did not destroyאֶת־הָעַמִּיםthe peoplesאֲשֶׁרwhichאָמַרhad commandedיְהֹוָהthe LORDלָהֶם׃them

    They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:

35. 35

    וַיִּתְעָרְבוּbut were mingledבַגּוֹיִםamong the nationsוַיִּלְמְדוּand they learnedמַעֲשֵׂיהֶם׃their works

    But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.

36. 36

    וַיַּעַבְדוּand they servedאֶת־עֲצַבֵּיהֶםtheir idolsוַיִּהְיוּwhich becameלָהֶםto themלְמוֹקֵשׁ׃a snare

    And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

37. 37

    וַיִּזְבְּחוּyea they sacrificedאֶת־בְּנֵיהֶםtheir sonsוְאֶת־בְּנוֹתֵיהֶםand their daughtersלַשֵּׁדִים׃to the demons

    Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,

38. 38

    וַיִּשְׁפְּכוּand shedדָםbloodנָקִיinnocentדַּם־בְּנֵיהֶםblood of their sonsוּבְנוֹתֵיהֶםand their daughtersאֲשֶׁרwhichזִבְּחוּthey sacrificedלַעֲצַבֵּיto the idols ofכְנָעַןCanaanוַתֶּחֱנַףand was pollutedהָאָרֶץthe landבַּדָּמִים׃with blood

    And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

39. 39

    וַיִּטְמְאוּthus were they defiledבְמַעֲשֵׂיהֶםwith their worksוַיִּזְנוּand played the harlotבְּמַעַלְלֵיהֶם׃with their doings

    Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

40. 40

    וַיִּחַר־אַףtherefore was kindled the wrath ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDבְּעַמּוֹagainst His peopleוַיְתָעֵבso that He abhorredאֶת־נַחֲלָתוֹ׃His own inheritance

    Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.

41. 41

    וַיִּתְּנֵםand He gave themבְּיַד־גּוֹיִםinto the hand of the nationsוַיִּמְשְׁלוּand they ruledבָהֶםover themשֹׂנְאֵיהֶם׃those who hated them

    And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

42. 42

    וַיִּלְחָצוּםand oppressed themאוֹיְבֵיהֶםtheir enemiesוַיִּכָּנְעוּand they were brought into subjectionתַּחַתunderיָדָם׃their hand

    Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

43. 43

    פְּעָמִיםtimesרַבּוֹתmanyיַצִּילֵםdid He deliver themוְהֵמָּהbut theyיַמְרוּprovoked Himבַעֲצָתָםwith their counselוַיָּמֹכּוּand were brought lowבַּעֲוֺנָם׃in their iniquity

    Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.

44. 44

    וַיַּרְאnevertheless He regardedבַּצַּרin the distressלָהֶםof theirsבְּשׇׁמְעוֹwhen He heardאֶת־רִנָּתָם׃their cry

    Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:

45. 45

    וַיִּזְכֹּרand He rememberedלָהֶםfor themבְּרִיתוֹHis covenantוַיִּנָּחֵםand relentedכְּרֹבaccording to the multitude ofחֲסָדָו׃His mercies

    And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

46. 46

    וַיִּתֵּןand He madeאוֹתָםthemלְרַחֲמִיםto be pitiedלִפְנֵיbeforeכׇּל־שׁוֹבֵיהֶם׃all their captors

    He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.

47. 47

    הוֹשִׁיעֵנוּsave usיְהֹוָהO LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּour Godוְקַבְּצֵנוּand gather usמִן־הַגּוֹיִםfrom among the nationsלְהֹדוֹתto give thanksלְשֵׁםto the name ofקׇדְשֶׁךָYour holinessלְהִשְׁתַּבֵּחַand to triumphבִּתְהִלָּתֶךָ׃in Your praise

    Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

48. 48

    בָּרוּךְ־יְהֹוָהblessed be the LORDאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelמִן־הָעוֹלָםfrom everlastingוְעַדand toהָעוֹלָםeverlastingוְאָמַרand let sayכׇּל־הָעָםall the peopleאָמֵןamenהַלְלוּ־יָהּ׃praise the LORD

    Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.
