   תְּפִלָּהa prayerלְעָנִיof the afflictedכִי־יַעֲטֹףwhen he is overwhelmedוְלִפְנֵיand beforeיְהֹוָהthe LORDיִשְׁפֹּךְhe shall pour outשִׂיחוֹ׃his complaint

   A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before the LORD.

   יְהֹוָהO LORDשִׁמְעָהhearתְפִלָּתִיmy prayerוְשַׁוְעָתִיand my cry for helpאֵלֶיךָto Youתָבוֹא׃let come

   Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.

   אַל־תַּסְתֵּרdo not hideפָּנֶיךָYour faceמִמֶּנִּיfrom meבְּיוֹםin the day ofצַר־לִיmy troubleהַטֵּה־אֵלַיincline to meאׇזְנֶךָYour earבְּיוֹםin the day ofאֶקְרָאI callמַהֵרspeedilyעֲנֵנִי׃answer me

   Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.

   כִּי־כָלוּfor are consumedבְעָשָׁןlike smokeיָמָיmy daysוְעַצְמוֹתַיand my bonesכְּמוֹקֵדas a hearthנִחָרוּ׃are burned

   For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.

   הוּכָּה־כָעֵשֶׂבis smitten like grassוַיִּבַשׁand witheredלִבִּיmy heartכִּי־שָׁכַחְתִּיso that I forgetמֵאֲכֹלto eatלַחְמִי׃my bread

   My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.

   מִקּוֹלby reason of the voice ofאַנְחָתִיmy groaningדָּבְקָהcleavesעַצְמִיmy bonesלִבְשָׂרִי׃to my flesh

   By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.

7. 7

   דָּמִיתִיI am likeלִקְאַתa pelican ofמִדְבָּרthe wildernessהָיִיתִיI amכְּכוֹסlike an owl ofחֳרָבוֹת׃the waste places

   I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.

8. 8

   שָׁקַדְתִּיI watchוָאֶהְיֶהand amכְּצִפּוֹרlike a birdבּוֹדֵדaloneעַל־גָּג׃upon the housetop

   I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.

9. 9

   כׇּל־הַיּוֹםall the dayחֵרְפוּנִיreproach meאוֹיְבָיmy enemiesמְהוֹלָלַיthey who are mad against meבִּיby meנִשְׁבָּעוּ׃are sworn

   Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.

    כִּי־אֵפֶרfor ashesכַּלֶּחֶםlike breadאָכָלְתִּיI have eatenוְשִׁקֻּוַיand my drinkבִּבְכִיwith weepingמָסָכְתִּי׃I have mingled

    For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,

    מִפְּנֵי־זַעַמְךָbecause of Your indignationוְקִצְפֶּךָand Your wrathכִּיbecauseנְשָׂאתַנִיYou have lifted me upוַתַּשְׁלִיכֵנִי׃and cast me down

    Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.

12. 12

    יָמַיmy daysכְּצֵלare like a shadowנָטוּיthat declinesוַאֲנִיand Iכָּעֵשֶׂבlike grassאִיבָשׁ׃I wither

    My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.

13. 13

    וְאַתָּהbut YouיְהֹוָהO LORDלְעוֹלָםforeverתֵּשֵׁבshall endureוְזִכְרְךָand Your memorialלְדֹרfrom generationוָדֹר׃to generation

    But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.

14. 14

    אַתָּהYouתָקוּםshall ariseתְּרַחֵםand have mercy uponצִיּוֹןZionכִּי־עֵתfor the timeלְחֶנְנָהּto favor herכִּי־בָאfor is comeמוֹעֵד׃the set time

    Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.

15. 15

    כִּי־רָצוּfor take pleasure inעֲבָדֶיךָYour servantsאֶת־אֲבָנֶיהָher stonesוְאֶת־עֲפָרָהּand her dustיְחֹנֵנוּ׃they favor

    For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.

16. 16

    וְיִירְאוּso shall fearגוֹיִםthe nationsאֶת־שֵׁםthe name ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוְכׇל־מַלְכֵיand all the kings ofהָאָרֶץthe earthאֶת־כְּבוֹדֶךָ׃Your glory

    So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.

17. 17

    כִּי־בָנָהfor has builtיְהֹוָהthe LORDצִיּוֹןZionנִרְאָהHe shall appearבִּכְבוֹדוֹ׃in His glory

    When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.

18. 18

    פָּנָהHe will regardאֶל־תְּפִלַּתthe prayer ofהָעַרְעָרthe destituteוְלֹא־בָזָהand not despiseאֶת־תְּפִלָּתָם׃their prayer

    He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.

19. 19

    תִּכָּתֶבthis shall be writtenזֹאתthisלְדוֹרfor the generationאַחֲרוֹןto comeוְעַםand a peopleנִבְרָאyet to be createdיְהַלֶּל־יָהּ׃shall praise the LORD

    This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.

20. 20

    כִּי־הִשְׁקִיףfor He has looked downמִמְּרוֹםfrom the height ofקׇדְשׁוֹHis holinessיְהֹוָהthe LORDמִשָּׁמַיִםfrom heavenאֶל־אֶרֶץto the land ofהִבִּיט׃did He behold

    For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;

21. 21

    לִשְׁמֹעַto hearאֶנְקַתthe groaning ofאָסִירthe prisonerלְפַתֵּחַto looseבְּנֵיthose appointed toתְמוּתָה׃die

    To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;

22. 22

    לְסַפֵּרto tellבְּצִיּוֹןin Zionשֵׁםthe name ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוּתְהִלָּתוֹand His praiseבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃in Jerusalem

    To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;

23. 23

    בְּהִקָּבֵץwhen are gathered togetherעַמִּיםthe peoplesיַחְדָּוtogetherוּמַמְלָכוֹתand kingdomsלַעֲבֹדto serveאֶת־יְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

24. 24

    עִנָּהHe weakenedבַדֶּרֶךְin the way(כחו)[כֹּחִי]my strengthקִצַּרHe shortenedיָמָי׃my days

    He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.

25. 25

    אֹמַרI saidאֵלִיO my Godאַל־תַּעֲלֵנִיtake me not awayבַּחֲצִיin the midst ofיָמָיmy daysבְּדוֹרare throughout generationsדּוֹרִיםto generationשְׁנוֹתֶיךָ׃Your years

    I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.

26. 26

    לְפָנִיםof oldהָאָרֶץthe earthיָסַדְתָּYou laid the foundation ofוּמַעֲשֵׂהand the work ofיָדֶיךָYour handsשָׁמָיִם׃are the heavens

    Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

27. 27

    הֵמָּהthey shallיֹאבֵדוּperishוְאַתָּהbut Youתַעֲמֹדshall endureוְכֻלָּםand all of themכַּבֶּגֶדlike a garmentיִבְלוּshall grow oldכַּלְּבוּשׁas a vestureתַּחֲלִיפֵםYou shall change themוְיַחֲלֹפוּ׃and they shall be changed

    They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

28. 28

    וְאַתָּה־הוּאbut You are the sameוּשְׁנוֹתֶיךָand Your yearsלֹאnotיִתָּמּוּ׃shall have no end

    But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

29. 29

    בְּנֵי־עֲבָדֶיךָthe children of Your servantsיִשְׁכּוֹנוּshall dwellוְזַרְעָםand their seedלְפָנֶיךָbefore Youיִכּוֹן׃shall be established

    The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.
