Proverbs 6 מִשְׁלֵי פרק ו׳

   בְּנִיbe/NImy sonאִם־עָרַבְתָּim-a/RAV/taif you have stood suretyלְרֵעֶךָle/re/E/khafor your neighborתָּקַעְתָּta/KA/tastruckלַזָּרlaz/ZARfor a strangerכַּפֶּיךָ׃kap/PE/khayour hands

   My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

   נוֹקַשְׁתָּno/KASH/tayou are snaredבְאִמְרֵי־פִיךָve/im/RE-FI/khaby the words of your mouthנִלְכַּדְתָּnil/KAD/tayou are caughtבְּאִמְרֵי־פִיךָ׃be/im/RE-FI/khawith the words of your mouth

   Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

   עֲשֵׂהa/SEdoזֹאתzotthisאֵפוֹאe/FOnowבְּנִיbe/NImy sonוְהִנָּצֵלve/hin/na/TSELand deliver yourselfכִּי־בָאתָki-VA/tafor you have comeבְכַף־רֵעֶךָve/KHAF-re/E/khainto the hand of your neighborלֵךְlekhgoהִתְרַפֵּסhit/rap/PEShumble yourselfוּרְהַבu/re/HAVand pressרֵעֶיךָ׃re/E/khayour neighbor

   Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.

   אַל־תִּתֵּןal-tit/TENdo not giveשֵׁנָהshe/NAsleepלְעֵינֶיךָle/e/NE/khato your eyesוּתְנוּמָהu/te/nu/MAand slumberלְעַפְעַפֶּיךָ׃le/af/ap/PE/khato your eyelids

   Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.

   הִנָּצֵלhin/na/TSELdeliver yourselfכִּצְבִיkits/VIlike a gazelleמִיָּדmiy/YADfrom the handוּכְצִפּוֹרu/khe/tsip/PORand like a birdמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofיָקוּשׁ׃ya/KUSHa fowler

   Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

   לֵךְ־אֶל־נְמָלָהlekh-el-ne/ma/LAgo to the antעָצֵלa/TSELO sluggardרְאֵהre/Econsiderדְרָכֶיהָde/ra/KHE/haits waysוַחֲכָם׃va/cha/KHAMand be wise

   Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

   אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאֵין־לָהּen-lahaving noקָצִיןka/TSINchiefשֹׁטֵרsho/TERofficerוּמֹשֵׁל׃u/mo/SHELor ruler

   Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

8. 8

   תָּכִיןta/KHINpreparesבַּקַּיִץbak/KA/yitsin the summerלַחְמָהּlach/MAher breadאָגְרָהa/ge/RAgathersבַקָּצִירvak/ka/TSIRat the harvestמַאֲכָלָהּ׃ma/a/kha/LAher food

   Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

   עַד־מָתַיad-ma/TAYhow longעָצֵלa/TSELO sluggardתִּשְׁכָּבtish/KAVwill you lieמָתַיma/TAYwhenתָּקוּםta/KUMwill you ariseמִשְּׁנָתֶךָ׃mish/she/na/TE/khafrom your sleep

   How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

10. 10

    מְעַטme/ATa littleשֵׁנוֹתshe/NOTsleepמְעַטme/ATa littleתְּנוּמוֹתte/nu/MOTslumberמְעַטme/ATa littleחִבֻּקchib/BUKfolding ofיָדַיִםya/DA/yimthe handsלִשְׁכָּב׃lish/KAVto sleep

    Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

    וּבָא־כִמְהַלֵּךְu/VA-khim/hal/LEKHand will come like a prowlerרֵאשֶׁךָre/SHE/khayour povertyוּמַחְסֹרְךָu/mach/sor/KHAand your lackכְּאִישׁke/ISHlike a manמָגֵן׃ma/GENarmed

    So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

12. 12

    אָדָםa/DAMa man ofבְּלִיַּעַלbe/liy/YA/alworthlessnessאִישׁisha man ofאָוֶןA/veniniquityהוֹלֵךְho/LEKHwho walks withעִקְּשׁוּתik/ke/SHUTcrookedness ofפֶּה׃pemouth

    A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

13. 13

    קֹרֵץko/RETSwinkingבְּעֵינָוbe/e/NAVwith his eyeמֹלֵלmo/LELsignalingבְּרַגְלָוbe/rag/LAVat his footמֹרֶהmo/REpointingבְּאֶצְבְּעֹתָיו׃be/ets/be/o/TAYVwith his fingers

    He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;

14. 14

    תַּהְפֻּכוֹתtah/pu/KHOTperverse thingsבְּלִבּוֹbe/lib/BOin his heartחֹרֵשׁcho/RESHdevisingרָעraevilבְּכׇל־עֵתbe/KHOL-etat all times(מדנים)madanayam[מִדְיָנִים]mid/ya/NIMdiscordיְשַׁלֵּחַ׃ye/shal/LE/achsowing

    Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.

15. 15

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeפִּתְאֹםpit/OMsuddenlyיָבוֹאya/VOshall comeאֵידוֹe/DOhis disasterפֶּתַעPE/tain an instantיִשָּׁבֵרyish/sha/VERit will be brokenוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noמַרְפֵּא׃mar/PEhealing

    Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

16. 16

    שֶׁשׁ־הֵנָּהshesh-HEN/nasix things theseשָׂנֵאsa/NEhatesיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְשֶׁבַעve/SHE/vaand seven(תועבות)tavvavat[תּוֹעֲבַת]to/a/VATan abomination toנַפְשׁוֹ׃naf/SHOHis soul

    These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17. 17

    עֵינַיִםe/NA/yimeyesרָמוֹתra/MOThaughtyלְשׁוֹןle/SHONa tongue ofשָׁקֶרSHA/kerlyingוְיָדַיִםve/ya/DA/yimand handsשֹׁפְכוֹתshof/KHOTwhich shedדָּם־נָקִי׃dam-na/KIinnocent blood

    A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18. 18

    לֵבleva heartחֹרֵשׁcho/RESHthat devisesמַחְשְׁבוֹתmach/she/VOTplans ofאָוֶןA/veniniquityרַגְלַיִםrag/LA/yimfeetמְמַהֲרוֹתme/ma/ha/ROTwhich hurryלָרוּץla/RUTSto runלָרָעָה׃LA/ra/ato evil

    An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19. 19

    יָפִיחַya/FI/achhe breathes outכְּזָבִיםke/za/VIMliesעֵדeda witness ofשָׁקֶרSHA/kerfalsehoodוּמְשַׁלֵּחַu/me/shal/LE/achand one who sowsמְדָנִיםme/da/NIMcontentionsבֵּיןbenamongאַחִים׃a/CHIMbrothers

    A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

20. 20

    נְצֹרne/TSORkeepבְּנִיbe/NImy sonמִצְוַתmits/VATthe commandment ofאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherוְאַל־תִּטֹּשׁve/AL-tit/TOSHand do not forsakeתּוֹרַתto/RATthe teaching ofאִמֶּךָ׃im/ME/khayour mother

    My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

21. 21

    קׇשְׁרֵםkosh/REMbind themעַל־לִבְּךָal-lib/be/KHAupon your heartתָמִידta/MIDcontinuallyעׇנְדֵםon/DEMtie themעַל־גַּרְגְּרֹתֶךָ׃al-gar/ge/ro/TE/khaupon your neck

    Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

22. 22

    בְּהִתְהַלֶּכְךָbe/hit/hal/lekh/KHAwhen you walk aboutתַּנְחֶהtan/CHEit will leadאֹתָךְo/TAKHyouבְּשׇׁכְבְּךָbe/shokh/be/KHAwhen you lie downתִּשְׁמֹרtish/MORit will keepעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaover youוַהֲקִיצוֹתָva/ha/ki/TSO/taand you will awakeהִיאhiitתְשִׂיחֶךָ׃te/si/CHE/khawill talk with you

    When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

23. 23

    כִּיkiforנֵרnera lamp isמִצְוָהmits/VAthe commandmentוְתוֹרָהve/to/RAand the teachingאוֹרora lightוְדֶרֶךְve/DE/rekhand the way ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeתּוֹכְחוֹתtokh/CHOTthe reproofs ofמוּסָר׃mu/SARinstruction

    For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

24. 24

    לִשְׁמׇרְךָlish/mor/KHAto keep youמֵאֵשֶׁתme/E/shetfrom the woman ofרָעraevilמֵחֶלְקַתme/chel/KATfrom the smoothness ofלָשׁוֹןla/SHONthe tongue ofנׇכְרִיָּה׃nokh/riy/YAa foreign woman

    To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.

25. 25

    אַל־תַּחְמֹדal-tach/MODdo not lust afterיׇפְיָהּyof/YAher beautyבִּלְבָבֶךָbil/va/VE/khain your heartוְאַל־תִּקָּחֲךָve/AL-tik/ka/cha/KHAand let her not take youבְּעַפְעַפֶּיהָ׃be/af/ap/PE/hawith her eyelids

    Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.

26. 26

    כִּיkiforבְעַד־אִשָּׁהve/AD-ish/SHAon account of a womanזוֹנָהzo/NAharlotעַד־כִּכַּר־לָחֶםad-kik/KAR-LA/chemto a loaf of breadוְאֵשֶׁתve/E/shetbut a wife ofאִישׁisha manנֶפֶשׁNE/feshlifeיְקָרָהye/ka/RApreciousתָצוּד׃ta/TSUDshe hunts

    For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.

27. 27

    הֲיַחְתֶּהha/yach/TEcan takeאִישׁisha manאֵשׁeshfireבְּחֵיקוֹbe/che/KOinto his bosomוּבְגָדָיוu/ve/ga/DAYVand his garmentsלֹאlonotתִשָּׂרַפְנָה׃tis/sa/RAF/nabe burned

    Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?

28. 28

    אִם־יְהַלֵּךְim-ye/hal/LEKHcan walkאִישׁisha manעַל־הַגֶּחָלִיםal-hag/ge/cha/LIMupon the burning coalsוְרַגְלָיוve/rag/LAYVand his feetלֹאlonotתִכָּוֶינָה׃tik/ka/VE/nabe scorched

    Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?

29. 29

    כֵּןkenso isהַבָּאhab/BAhe who goes inאֶל־אֵשֶׁתel-E/shetto the wife ofרֵעֵהוּre/E/huhis neighborלֹאlonotיִנָּקֶהyin/na/KEwill go unpunishedכׇּל־הַנֹּגֵעַkol-han/no/GE/awhoever touchesבָּהּ׃baher

    So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.

30. 30

    לֹא־יָבוּזוּlo-ya/VU/zuthey do not despiseלַגַּנָּבlag/gan/NAVthe thiefכִּיkiifיִגְנוֹבyig/NOVhe stealsלְמַלֵּאle/mal/LEto fillנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulכִּיkiwhenיִרְעָב׃yir/AVhe is hungry

    Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;

31. 31

    וְנִמְצָאve/nim/TSAbut if foundיְשַׁלֵּםye/shal/LEMhe will repayשִׁבְעָתָיִםshiv/a/TA/yimsevenfoldאֶת־כׇּל־הוֹןet-kol-honall the wealth ofבֵּיתוֹbe/TOhis houseיִתֵּן׃yit/TENhe will give

    But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

32. 32

    נֹאֵףno/EFhe who commits adultery withאִשָּׁהish/SHAa womanחֲסַר־לֵבcha/SAR-levlacks senseמַשְׁחִיתmash/CHITwho destroysנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulהוּאhuheיַעֲשֶׂנָּה׃ya/a/SEN/nadoes it

    But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

33. 33

    נֶגַע־וְקָלוֹןNE/ga-ve/ka/LONwounds and dishonorיִמְצָאyim/TSAhe will getוְחֶרְפָּתוֹve/cher/pa/TOand his reproachלֹאlonotתִמָּחֶה׃tim/ma/CHEit will be wiped away

    A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.

34. 34

    כִּי־קִנְאָהki-kin/Afor jealousy isחֲמַת־גָּבֶרcha/MAT-GA/verthe rage of a manוְלֹא־יַחְמוֹלve/LO-yach/MOLand he will not spareבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofנָקָם׃na/KAMvengeance

    For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

35. 35

    לֹא־יִשָּׂאlo-yis/SAhe will not acceptפְּנֵיpe/NEthe face ofכׇל־כֹּפֶרkhol-KO/ferany ransomוְלֹא־יֹאבֶהve/LO-yo/VEnor will he be contentכִּיkithoughתַרְבֶּה־שֹּׁחַד׃tar/BE-SHO/chadyou multiply gifts

    He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
