Proverbs 5 מִשְׁלֵי פרק ה׳

   בְּנִיbe/NImy sonלְחׇכְמָתִיle/chokh/ma/TIto my wisdomהַקְשִׁיבָהhak/SHI/vapay attentionלִתְבוּנָתִיlit/vu/na/TIto my understandingהַט־אׇזְנֶךָ׃hat-oz/NE/khaincline your ear

   My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

   לִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto keepמְזִמּוֹתme/zim/MOTdiscretionוְדַעַתve/DA/atand knowledgeשְׂפָתֶיךָse/fa/TE/khayour lipsיִנְצֹרוּ׃yin/TSO/rumay keep

   That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

   כִּיkiforנֹפֶתNO/fethoneycombתִּטֹּפְנָהtit/TOF/nathey dripשִׂפְתֵיsif/TEthe lips ofזָרָהza/RAa strange womanוְחָלָקve/cha/LAKand smootherמִשֶּׁמֶןmish/SHE/menthan oilחִכָּהּ׃chik/KAis her mouth

   For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

   וְאַחֲרִיתָהּve/a/cha/ri/TAand her endמָרָהma/RAis bitterכַלַּעֲנָהkhal/la/a/NAlike the wormwoodחַדָּהchad/DAsharpכְּחֶרֶבke/CHE/revas a swordפִּיּוֹת׃piy/YOTtwo-edged

   But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.

   רַגְלֶיהָrag/LE/haher feetיֹרְדוֹתyor/DOTgo down toמָוֶתMA/vetdeathשְׁאוֹלShe/OLSheolצְעָדֶיהָtse/a/DE/haher stepsיִתְמֹכוּ׃yit/MO/khuthey take hold of

   Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

   אֹרַחO/rachthe path ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeפֶּן־תְּפַלֵּסpen-te/fal/LESlest she ponderנָעוּna/Uwanderמַעְגְּלֹתֶיהָma/ge/lo/TE/haher tracksלֹאlonotתֵדָע׃te/DAshe knows

   Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowבָנִיםva/NIMO sonsשִׁמְעוּ־לִיshim/U-lilisten to meוְאַל־תָּסוּרוּve/AL-ta/SU/ruand do not departמֵאִמְרֵי־פִי׃me/im/RE-fifrom the words of my mouth

   Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

   הַרְחֵקhar/CHEKkeep farמֵעָלֶיהָme/a/LE/hafrom herדַרְכֶּךָdar/KE/khayour wayוְאַל־תִּקְרַבve/AL-tik/RAVand do not come nearאֶל־פֶּתַחel-PE/tachto the door ofבֵּיתָהּ׃be/TAher house

   Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

   פֶּן־תִּתֵּןpen-tit/TENlest you giveלַאֲחֵרִיםla/a/che/RIMto othersהוֹדֶךָho/DE/khayour splendorוּשְׁנֹתֶיךָu/she/no/TE/khaand your yearsלְאַכְזָרִי׃le/akh/za/RIto the cruel

   Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

10. 10

    פֶּן־יִשְׂבְּעוּpen-yis/be/Ulest be filledזָרִיםza/RIMstrangersכֹּחֶךָko/CHE/khawith your strengthוַעֲצָבֶיךָva/a/tsa/VE/khaand your laborsבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofנׇכְרִי׃nokh/RIa foreigner

    Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

11. 11

    וְנָהַמְתָּve/na/ham/TAand you groanבְאַחֲרִיתֶךָve/a/cha/ri/TE/khaat your endבִּכְלוֹתbikh/LOTwhen is consumedבְּשָׂרְךָbe/sa/re/KHAyour fleshוּשְׁאֵרֶךָ׃u/she/e/RE/khaand your body

    And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

12. 12

    וְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayאֵיךְekhhowשָׂנֵאתִיsa/NE/tiI have hatedמוּסָרmu/SARdisciplineוְתוֹכַחַתve/to/KHA/chatand rebukeנָאַץna/ATSspurnedלִבִּי׃lib/BImy heart

    And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

13. 13

    וְלֹא־שָׁמַעְתִּיve/LO-sha/MA/tiand I have not obeyedבְּקוֹלbe/KOLthe voice ofמוֹרָיmo/RAYmy teachersוְלִמְלַמְּדַיve/lim/lam/me/DAYand to those who instructed meלֹא־הִטִּיתִיlo-hit/TI/tiI have not inclinedאׇזְנִי׃oz/NImy ear

    And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

14. 14

    כִּמְעַטkim/ATnearlyהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI cameבְכׇל־רָעve/KHOL-rainto all evilבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongקָהָלka/HALthe congregationוְעֵדָה׃ve/e/DAand assembly

    I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

15. 15

    שְׁתֵה־מַיִםshe/TE-MA/yimdrink waterמִבּוֹרֶךָmib/bo/RE/khafrom your own cisternוְנֹזְלִיםve/noz/LIMand streamsמִתּוֹךְmit/TOKHfrom the midst ofבְּאֵרֶךָ׃be/e/RE/khayour own well

    Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

16. 16

    יָפוּצוּya/FU/tsushould be scatteredמַעְיְנֹתֶיךָma/ye/no/TE/khayour springsחוּצָהCHU/tsaoutsideבָּרְחֹבוֹתba/re/cho/VOTin the streetsפַּלְגֵי־מָיִם׃pal/GE-MA/yimstreams of water

    Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

17. 17

    יִהְיוּ־לְךָyih/YU-le/KHAlet them be for youלְבַדֶּךָle/vad/DE/khato you aloneוְאֵיןve/ENand notלְזָרִיםle/za/RIMto strangersאִתָּךְ׃it/TAKHwith you

    Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

18. 18

    יְהִי־מְקוֹרְךָye/HI-me/kor/KHAlet your fountain beבָרוּךְva/RUKHblessedוּשְׂמַחu/se/MACHand rejoiceמֵאֵשֶׁתme/E/shetfrom the wife ofנְעוּרֶךָ׃ne/u/RE/khayour youth

    Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

19. 19

    אַיֶּלֶתay/YE/leta doe ofאֲהָבִיםa/ha/VIMlovesוְיַעֲלַת־חֵןve/ya/a/LAT-chenand a graceful doeדַּדֶּיהָdad/de/HAher breastsיְרַוֻּךָye/rav/VU/khamay they satisfy youבְכׇל־עֵתve/KHOL-etat all timesבְּאַהֲבָתָהּbe/a/ha/va/TAby her loveתִּשְׁגֶּהtish/GEbe intoxicatedתָמִיד׃ta/MIDcontinually

    Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

20. 20

    וְלָמָּהve/LAM/maand whyתִשְׁגֶּהtish/GEbe intoxicatedבְנִיve/NImy sonבְזָרָהve/za/RAwith a strange womanוּתְחַבֵּקu/te/chab/BEKand embraceחֵקchekthe bosom ofנׇכְרִיָּה׃nokh/riy/YAa foreign woman

    And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

21. 21

    כִּיkiforנֹכַחNO/khachbeforeעֵינֵיe/NEthe eyes ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDדַּרְכֵי־אִישׁdar/KHE-ishthe ways of a manוְכׇל־מַעְגְּלֹתָיוve/KHOL-ma/ge/lo/TAYVand all his tracksמְפַלֵּס׃me/fal/LESHe ponders

    For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

22. 22

    עֲווֹנֹתָיוa/vo/no/TAYVhis iniquitiesיִלְכְּדֻנוֹyil/ke/du/NOthey will seize himאֶת־הָרָשָׁעet-ha/ra/SHAthe wickedוּבְחַבְלֵיu/ve/chav/LEand by the cords ofחַטָּאתוֹchat/ta/TOhis sinיִתָּמֵךְ׃yit/ta/MEKHhe is held

    His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

23. 23

    הוּאhuheיָמוּתya/MUTwill dieבְּאֵיןbe/ENfor lack ofמוּסָרmu/SARinstructionוּבְרֹבu/ve/ROVand in the greatness ofאִוַּלְתּוֹiv/val/TOhis foolishnessיִשְׁגֶּה׃yish/GEhe goes astray

    He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
