חַכְמוֹתthe wisest ofנָשִׁיםwomenבָּנְתָהshe has builtבֵיתָהּher houseוְאִוֶּלֶתand the foolishבְּיָדֶיהָwith her handsתֶהֶרְסֶנּוּ׃she tears down it
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

הוֹלֵךְgoingבְּיׇשְׁרוֹin his uprightnessיְרֵאthat fearsיְהֹוָהthe LORDוּנְלוֹזand the one who is crooked ofדְּרָכָיוhis waysבּוֹזֵהוּ׃is despising him
He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

בְּפִי־אֱוִילin the mouth of a foolחֹטֶרa rodגַּאֲוָהprideוְשִׂפְתֵיand lips ofחֲכָמִיםwiseתִּשְׁמוּרֵם׃shall preserve them
In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

בְּאֵיןwhere there are noאֲלָפִיםoxenאֵבוּסthe cribבָּרis cleanוְרׇב־תְּבוּאוֹתand the greatness of cropsבְּכֹחַwith powerשׁוֹר׃an ox
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

עֵדwitnessאֱמוּנִיםfaithful peopleלֹאnotיְכַזֵּבdoes lieוְיָפִיחַand he may breathe outכְּזָבִיםliesעֵדwitnessשָׁקֶר׃false
A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.

בִּקֶּשׁ־לֵץa scorner seeksחׇכְמָהwisdomוָאָיִןand finds it notוְדַעַתand knowledgeלְנָבוֹןto a discerning personנָקָל׃is easy
A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.

לֵךְgoמִנֶּגֶדfrom beforeלְאִישׁfor a manכְּסִילa foolish manוּבַל־יָדַעְתָּand not you knowשִׂפְתֵי־דָעַת׃the lips of knowledge
Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

חׇכְמַתthe wisdom ofעָרוּםcunningהָבִיןto understandדַּרְכּוֹhis wayוְאִוֶּלֶתand the folly ofכְּסִילִיםfoolsמִרְמָה׃deceit
The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.

אֱוִלִיםfoolsיָלִיץmake a mock atאָשָׁםsinוּבֵיןand betweenיְשָׁרִיםthe uprightרָצוֹן׃favor
Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

לֵבheartיוֹדֵעַknowsמׇרַּתthe bitterness ofנַפְשׁוֹhis soulוּבְשִׂמְחָתוֹand in its joyלֹא־יִתְעָרַבnot he sharesזָר׃a stranger
The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

בֵּיתthe house ofרְשָׁעִיםwicked menיִשָּׁמֵדshall be overthrownוְאֹהֶלand the tent ofיְשָׁרִיםthe uprightיַפְרִיחַ׃it will flourish
The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

יֵשׁthere isדֶּרֶךְthe way ofיָשָׁרrightלִפְנֵי־אִישׁbefore man ofוְאַחֲרִיתָהּand her endדַּרְכֵי־מָוֶת׃the ways of death
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

גַּם־בִּשְׂחֹקeven in laughterיִכְאַב־לֵבthe heart is sorrowfulוְאַחֲרִיתָהּand her endשִׂמְחָהof mirthתוּגָה׃is heaviness
Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

מִדְּרָכָיוwith his own waysיִשְׂבַּעhe will be satisfiedסוּגthe backslider ofלֵבheartוּמֵעָלָיוand from himselfאִישׁa manטוֹב׃good
The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

פֶּתִיa simple personיַאֲמִיןshall believeלְכׇל־דָּבָרevery wordוְעָרוּםand a sensible personיָבִיןlooks well toלַאֲשֻׁרוֹ׃his step
The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.

חָכָםwiseיָרֵאfearsוְסָרand departsמֵרָעfrom evilוּכְסִילand a foolמִתְעַבֵּרragesוּבוֹטֵחַ׃and is confident
A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

קְצַר־אַפַּיִםhe who is soon angryיַעֲשֶׂהhe shall doאִוֶּלֶתfoolishnessוְאִישׁand a manמְזִמּוֹתwicked devicesיִשָּׂנֵא׃he is hated
He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

נָחֲלוּinheritפְתָאיִםthe simpleאִוֶּלֶתfoolishnessוַעֲרוּמִיםand sensible peopleיַכְתִּרוּare crowned withדָעַת׃knowledge
The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

שַׁחוּthey bowרָעִיםevilלִפְנֵיbeforeטוֹבִיםgoodוּרְשָׁעִיםand wicked menעַל־שַׁעֲרֵיupon the gates ofצַדִּיק׃righteous
The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

גַּם־לְרֵעֵהוּeven of his neighborיִשָּׂנֵאhe is hatedרָשׁthe poorוְאֹהֲבֵיand those who loveעָשִׁירrichרַבִּים׃many
The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.

בׇּז־לְרֵעֵהוּhe who despises his neighborחוֹטֵאa sinnerוּמְחוֹנֵןand one who shows favor to(עניים)[עֲנָוִים]the poorאַשְׁרָיו׃how blessed is he
He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

הֲלוֹא־יִתְעוּdo they not errחֹרְשֵׁיthose who deviseרָעevilוְחֶסֶדand lovingkindness ofוֶאֱמֶתand truthחֹרְשֵׁיthose who deviseטוֹב׃good
Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

בְּכׇל־עֶצֶבin all laborיִהְיֶהshall beמוֹתָרprofitוּדְבַר־שְׂפָתַיִםand talk of the lipsאַךְ־לְמַחְסוֹר׃but to penury
In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

עֲטֶרֶתcrown ofחֲכָמִיםwiseעׇשְׁרָםtheir richesאִוֶּלֶתfoolishnessכְּסִילִיםfoolsאִוֶּלֶת׃foolishness
The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.

מַצִּילdeliversנְפָשׁוֹתsoulsעֵדwitnessאֱמֶתtruthוְיָפִחַbut he who uttersכְּזָבִיםliesמִרְמָה׃deceit
A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

בְּיִרְאַתin the fear ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDמִבְטַח־עֹזstrong confidenceוּלְבָנָיוand for his sonsיִהְיֶהshall beמַחְסֶה׃shelter
In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

יִרְאַתthe fear ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDמְקוֹרfountain ofחַיִּיםlifeלָסוּרto departמִמֹּקְשֵׁיfrom snares ofמָוֶת׃death
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

בְּרׇב־עָםin abundance of a peopleהַדְרַת־מֶלֶךְthe glory of king ofוּבְאֶפֶסand in the want ofלְאֹםa peopleמְחִתַּתthe ruin ofרָזוֹן׃the prince
In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

אֶרֶךְlong ofאַפַּיִםto angerרַב־תְּבוּנָהof great understandingוּקְצַר־רוּחַand a person short of spirit ofמֵרִיםexaltsאִוֶּלֶת׃foolishness
He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

חַיֵּיthe life ofבְשָׂרִיםthe fleshלֵבheartמַרְפֵּאsoundוּרְקַבand is rottenness ofעֲצָמוֹתthe bonesקִנְאָה׃jealousy
A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

עֹשֵׁקone who oppressesדָּלthe poorחֵרֵףhe has reviledעֹשֵׂהוּhis makerוּמְכַבְּדוֹand he who honors himחֹנֵןone who shows favor toאֶבְיוֹן׃a needy person
He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

בְּרָעָתוֹby his wickednessיִדָּחֶהhe is pushed downרָשָׁעwickedוְחֹסֶהand has hopeבְמוֹתוֹat his deathצַדִּיק׃righteous
The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

בְּלֵבwith heartנָבוֹןdiscerningתָּנוּחַit shall restחׇכְמָהwisdomוּבְקֶרֶבand in the midst ofכְּסִילִיםfoolsתִּוָּדֵעַ׃it is made known
Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.

צְדָקָהrighteousnessתְרוֹמֵם־גּוֹיit exalts nationוְחֶסֶדand lovingkindness ofלְאֻמִּיםto peoplesחַטָּאת׃sin
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
- 35
רְצוֹן־מֶלֶךְthe king's favorלְעֶבֶדfor a servantמַשְׂכִּילwiseוְעֶבְרָתוֹand his furyתִּהְיֶהshall beמֵבִישׁ׃who causes shame
The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
